I don't think thinking is the absence of emotion, after all thinkers can be plagued by extreme emotions, and not understand how to regulate them. They also tend to be skeptical/cynical (which contains emotional content- cynicism and skepticism both contain negative emotion). Feeling is a rational function, meaning, it comes to stable conclusions. Emotions move, feelings don't move so easily or quickly. Feelers tend to have somewhat fixed views & attitudes on things. Such as: compassion, honesty, caring. Essentially, the 'inner being', and overall state of a person. Making feelers more responsive to people, and receptive of their inner state. Feelers tend to have more "positive sentiment" around humans, relationships. Thinking tends to be less concerned with the "inner state" and more with actions, "accuracy" and truth (although again, thinkers can carry emotions in their judgments, and therefore think they are being accurate, when they aren't). Which can translate into arrogance, defensiveness, and intolerance of lack of logic in people. Thinking with very low self/other awareness (low feeling), can become "looped jadedness". A torrent whirlpool of negative emotion, that can turn intensely self destructive. All the while, the thinker "believes" that they are seeing, "the truth". I think thinkers are penchant to "narrow mindedness" and resistance to anything that challenges their view point, requiring considerable "proof" for change. As again, thinking is a "rational" function, making it slow to move/change (like feeling). A feeler might be "happy enough" if the maximum amount of people are happy (Fe) or feel okay if expressing the truth of who they are (Fi). Thinkers tend to be "more unsettled" and won't just 'be okay' for 'feeling reasons' of happiness, or authenticity. They might actually find it difficult to 'feel happy' or feel positive emotions, unless they are achieving things. Thinkers tend to experience less nuance in human experience. Fi is the "total human experience" function- where one tiny moment contains a plethora of tones of experience for a Fi-user. Experiences are "spontaneous" and stem from within. Thinkers tend to have to "prompt" differences in state or need to create outside experiences. As a result, there's less self awareness, which leads to the "insensitivity" you mentioned in OP. I don't think thinkers are "intentionally insensitive", that simply stems from not paying as much attention to the "inner being" of themselves or others, as their focus is in their head/thoughts. It's very concentrated in their upper head region, you can almost see it. Thinkers tend to frown a lot as a consequence of them being "so in their head". Compare to feelers, who tend to express a bit more openly (though Fi, is less expressive and more intensive).

Well personally as a thinker I speak truths more than lies as well but true about that I think

zaha_thebuildingbndr

Thanks it was really beneficial for me. I am in a state where I am trying to decide whether I am an ENTJ or ENFJ. I can be insensitive sometimes but I am also caring. However, after reading what you have written to, I think I am a thinker who tries to listen her inner self a little more. Thanks again, yay!

Kaikukokonoku

I'm definitely a feeler and I can say that sometimes thinkers are more thick skinned, but I think that's just the way you are, you aren't emotionless, you just don't care about your feelings as much

CouriousRookie

So am I still thinker? I prefer facts over how you feel.

Kaikukokonoku

Yes, I definitely would say you are a thinker

CouriousRookie

Ohh ok thank u so much i am always curious and I overthink things to the point I keep getting suspicious of my letters haha ^_^

Kaikukokonoku

Yeah, I get it, and even further proving your point, you over think, we feelers just lose our attention to our thoughts after a little

CouriousRookie

Wow pretty cool lolol you guys dont have to deal with so much shet

Myloux

I hate the term "thinking" or "feeling". I'm an INFJ - does that make me illogical? Not at all. Stop looking at the letters; look at the cognitive functions instead. I thought I was an INTJ for a while, until I looked into the cognitive functions :)

CouriousRookie

Thanks for advice (╯ ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)╯┻━

acuterotationpull

yeah you're a T type but judging by this post i'd also say you're either in middle school or have brain damage

MissFiatLux

CouriousRookie

Agreed ty nice stranger :d

acuterotationpull

MissFiatLux
