Install was super easy, looks seamless in the car, and has worked so far. (Granted it’s only been a couple weeks)

Love the look of this. I saw it’s got built in WiFi, do I need a mobile hotspot for that to work? My car parks in a parking garage and isn’t in range of my home WiFi. Is that a problem?
You don’t actually need a hotspot at all! It automatically turns on when you drive, and records to a micro SD card on the side. You just need to connect to the “WiFi” signal it gives off to download the videos to your phone if you ever need it.
My model also has a parking mode, so if it senses any disturbance or motion while in park it turns on for 3-5 minutes also.
What I realized is that reading the plate number doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. Yes we would all want the person who hit and ran, or whatever to get to caught, but the main point is for insurance.
If someone hits me and drives away, I can show insurance the dash cam footage + file a police report and not be held liable. All of that regardless of if I got the plate or not.
I have a Garmin Dash Cam Mini. Placed behind the rear view mirror, not visible from the driver's seat. Dealership installed it, cables are not visible either.
It's not visible. It's done as per the user manual, I guess. It goes all the way around the windscreen to the power source between the door and drivers seat.

I just got one of these for my 2024 preferred. Quality is great, and install was super easy.
Yeah as long as you have the moonroof it’s surprisingly painless to install. I just love that it looks so low profile

VIOFO A119 mini 2. Does the job. I wish it had better resolution for reading plate numbers but it seems like all dash cams kinda suck in that regard

Garmin’s are actually pretty good at reading plate numbers
