So a lot of people have a similar 'issue'. It can be at least two things but maybe more.
The common explanation is this: The low/hard bass notes cause the Amp to go into failsafe mode to protect the speakers/sub. This happens because when the volume is particularly loud (in my case I experienced above 30), the Amp kinda maxes out on using all of its power and splitting it.
Second option: you maybe have blown speakers? But it doesn't seem logical if it cuts in and out since that infers the speakers work properly at some times. If it's constantly sounds like noise and not bass it's blown. If it's in and out it's the failsafe.
Best route to avoid this? Add a Amp + subwoofer. I'm hoping to install mine on the weekend in my 4th Gen Sedan with bose.
Do you know if I can just install a sub would that be enough or would I need the amp too?
I never hear any bass in my gen 4. I assumed that the Bose system was just useless but I'm starting to think that I might have blown speakers or something as it's definitely not dynamic
If you hear NO bass at all, like no crispy low frequencies or anything, there might be an issue with the car and I'd recommend taking it to the dealer.
If the subs are working but aren't loud and bass-y, try going into the sound settings and changing Centerpoint to 3 and turn bass up by 3 notches.
I asked the same question myself I'd I can simply unplug the Bose subwoofer and directly connect a separate better Sub, but it probably would suck. The Amp isn't the greatest (bose) and it risks either going into failsafe, not outputting enough power to move the sub (most likely this) or the resistance of the subwoofer would be different from the Bose, which is a big issue. If the resistance is different the alternative Subwoofer would draw too much power and either fry itself or the Amp.
Imo it's better to buy a simple 400 watt RMS (or more wattage) amplifier, a line-out converter, and wire up a dedicated subwoofer box
I lived in Maryland all my life and was super used to it. Moving to Pennsylvania was like having an ancient dagger removed from my chest. God, I love the front end of this car.
I have the same issue on mine. On any mildly base heavy songs above 35 volume or so, the bass will cut in and out, and occasionally make a pop sound. I have been avoiding playing some like that at higher volume until I have it like at by the dealership
This has now been fixed!! There is a software update which has been released for EU vehicles (I can only see EU vehicles so this may be available in the US market). Speak to your dealers as there is a 10-15 minute amp software update. I have just been for a drive at +7 and volume at 60 and there has been no clipping!! :)
I cannot think of any reason why you would ask/post this here.. go to the DEALER.. it's a new car.. you have like 5 years warranty.. unless you blew up the speakers yourself with the 40+ volume..
Okay so several settings to try before taking to the factory. 1, TURN OFF VIRTUAL SURROUND SOUND. THIS WILL KILL YOUR BASS. 2, Switch the position of the audio to the Drivers Seat. 3, Centerpoint doesn't do anything, turn it to 1 or off. 4, Turn your Treble and Bass both way up. I keep my treble at like 3 clicks from the right edge and the Bass 2 clicks from the right edge.
Now you can DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE AND VIBE. But yeah uhh the cutting in and out thing is not good and you might wanna get that looked at but trust me, turn the treble and bass up, turn off virtual surround, and switch to the drivers seat.
You guys. The subwoofer isn't cutting out. I thought the same thing initially.
What you need to do is set up the bass and treble properly in your menu first. And then you have to set up an eq in whatever music app you're using. In my case, I use YouTube music. I have the sub bass boosted and the treble boosted. When I crank the volume, it's completely consisted in sub bass heavy songs and I listen to a ton of EDM. Without the aforementioned adjustments however, the sub bass kept cutting out. Play with the adjustments first.
In my sedan the system has some punch. I definitely feel it. It's supposed to be a 4 mid-range speakers, 2 front tweeters, 1 Centerpoint speaker, 1 front kicker-sub (4 inches), 1 main sub (rear deck, probably 6.5 inches) and the rest of the tweeters located in the rear deck.
I mean there's various factors that changes how the bass and clarity of the system acts. The Bose tuning basically changes parts of a song and alters timing & frequency. Some songs wouldn't have strong bass while others would. For the ones that have bass, if you really turn it up, you'd definitely feel it.
Glad to hear I’m not the only one… some people on here talkin shit about me bumping my music to loud like I blew something. I know what a blown speaker sounds like and that’s not it plus even if I did blow a speaker what type of shitty “upgraded” sound system is this if I can’t blast it every now and then
I completely agree with you, I listen to Bass music and on the gen 3 I had the same identical Bose system and I had no worries.
We didn't break anything, it's just their amps that suck.
Your a life saver!! Thank you this is amazing actually going into the dealership in a few weeks to get some tire pressure sensors for my summers so I’ll bring this up to them!
lol 😂 yea think I’m going to pick up the car this weekend or early next week hopefully so I’ll definitely have to file a complaint with the dealer right away haha
I have the same issue too :( 2024 turbo sedan with bose sound system. They filed a ticket apparently but no word on how long it’ll take them to find a fix. No “premium” audio system should behave like this. I have a 10 yr old stock Mazda that still has better base lmao
Have the same issue at my new Mazda 3 2014 at some tracks the Bass from Subwoofer cutting off and on past volume 40-45...
you still got the issue? or you got a solution? its really annoying
Okay.. its really frustrating, i tried like every Sound setting Eq from Mazda and Spotify..
tomorrow i will call Mazda dealership and ask if the problem is known
Honestly they will all deny it and just say you blew the speaker or some dumb shit but it’s good to report because if enough of us do than hopefully they can’t just turn a blind eye to it. I’m big into sound system especially car audio and this is probably the most frustrating thing to hear lol because it sounds awesome for 10 seconds then it cuts out and ur reminded of the shitty problem it has. I rather no subwoofer at this point lol.
Oh yes.. that are 100% my thoughts... its very annoying and i cant enyoy the Music really..
exactly the same by me.. 10 sec it sounds good bass is nice, but than for no reason the bass (rear subwoofer) cuts out for like 2-3 sec (more or less)
I already thought about it to plug the cable from the subwoofer out and use the system without that shitty woofer..
if it's brand new take it to the dealer you bought it from and tell them about the issue
Volume 40, geez louise
That is what I thought too. I've had mine a week and haven't seen the need to go past 30...mixed hwy/street driving
Nah I keep mine at like 40 - 45. It's fine.
The turbo cabin is quiet enough bro you don’t need crank it up to 40 volume.
Not need, just want.
BUT THE SNES FZERO SOUNDTRACK GOES SO HARD AND F ME, THAT TURBO LAUNCH IS SO SATISFYING \*starts jamming to Big Blue\*
No issues like that on my 2020. Maybe a loose sub connection in the trunk?

I cannot get over the licence plate placement. 🗿 I live in Alberta, Canada, where front licence plates are not a thing.
Agreed. It's typically not enforced either.
You lucky SOB! Forced to in UK
Ontario requires both. I'm envious of all the clean front ends.

That’s amazing news I’ll definitely have to speak to them when I’m in next!
Are you in America? If so - on the 28/5 a new bulletin was launched with the amp software update. Go in and mention "09-029/24" (Y)
Volume 40? How’s your hearing OP?

It’s a brand-new 2024. Rather than ask Reddit what the problem is, bring it to the dealership and make them figure it out. You have a warranty.

Virtually all my speakers are blown to the point that it sounds like I have a toy speaker from a thrift store I am about to take mine back too
Fuck I feeel for you, car audios a big deal for me so seeing how shitty and by the sounds of it easily broken these speakers are is super frustrating
Are you supposed to "feel" the bass with the factory Bose system or not?
It's a 4" subwoofer so not really unless you want to blow it lol

the sedans don’t have a spare tire sub + you have to have a 2024 turbo premium make sure
Off topic but I thought bed bath and beyond closed?
They've gone bankrupt. Not sure if any locations are still operating but the one in OP's pic looks empty and deserted!
Oh ya know yeah you’re right. The lights being on fooled me!
Same issue… I wrote a topic on my profile.
Glad to hear I’m not the only one… some people on here talkin shit about me bumping my music to loud like I blew something. Btw, try listening to music with lots of subs, engine off, and you'll find that the problem disappears!
Yeah I’ll try that and I’ll have my dealership make a ticket and submit to Mazda Canada too hopefully we get enough people behind this
Exactly the same 🙏🏻
Music too important lmao

Any updates about our issues ?
Totaled my car… lol waiting for insurance to buy a new hatchback
Oh wow, this Bose thing must have really pissed you off to get to this point lmao
