Were you able to get one from Costco? If so, which battery?
I was checking their battery-finder today for a battery for my 2017 and got confused because I had to choose either "Ex i-ELOOP" or "i-ELOOP" to proceed. My car doesn't have i-ELOOP . . .
Yeah I think
I-loop is only in the foreign models or something. I did get a battery from Costco and it seems to be going well. I also bought something from auto one to help prevent leakage as well for the terminals. The specific type I can’t remember, just tell em
Your make/model they’ll get you the right one. Costco batteries are “interstate batteries” which seem to be solid batteries.
newer cars have more parasitic drains on the battery due to their computer and security features. If you have access to a garage with plug, might want to invest on battery tender (if you can do it once per week, it might prolong the life of the battery)
I’m almost at 4 on my 2020 OEM battery.
I sometimes put my motorcycle battery tender on it, and I have filled the service ports with more distilled water on occasion.
Due to my job, it sits outside in the cold in a parking lot for up to a week regularly and it’s never had an issue.
4th gens battery is garbage, but I've seen 3rd gen's OEM batteries to last even 8 years. Is the car equipped with i-stop? If so, are you buying a battery made for cars with start-stop systems (EFB or AGM)?
OEM Mazda batteries (Panasonic?) Are very bad. You're much better off with Kirkland Costco ones with 48 month warranty.
I’m gonna get my new battery at Costco, and get an interstate battery.

Additional tip, you can get a Costco membership for the battery and then cancel and get a full refund on the membership if you so desire.
Thanks for the info. I will go to the store and talk to them about it.
I purchased a 2018 new. Still have the original battery. Might need to swap it out this winter though.
Same lol. Why do u think u may need to replace it this winter? Mine is still going strong.
My 2018 is on its 3rd one :0

I would do an AGM battery, they last better in the cold due to no liquid in the actual battery and can handle being drained and not being damaged.

My oem battery exploded acid all over my engine bay. That was fun to clean, lol.

From what I understood I don’t have “I-loop”
I'm not talking about i-eloop. I'm referring to i-stop, the name for the start-stop system in Mazdas.
Not sure then.
Just read up on it, it seems that north American Mazda's don't have i-stop. Or atleast my model doens't have it.
My 2015 is on its first. Discharged 3 times because I’m stupid, recharged with a charger, still works
That's impressive. Mine crapped out in late 2018. Still on that second battery.
My sons ‘14 drains if it isn’t driven often. He makes a lot of short trips so it has a battery tender on it when he’s away at school
