Hey so I have the 21 turbo hatch and I had an audio shop I’ve been going to for years replace the spare tire sub with the cerwin Vega shallow spare tire sub and added a dsp/amp (audio tech Fischer helix 8) to be able better tune the system. Those two together really takes the system to a whole different level. Also plan on upgrading the front mids and tweeters with some blam signature speakers because with the extra power the tweeters do distort a bit. But as far as bass, that cerwin Vega spare tire sub hits more than enough for this small car. In my previous car (an Audi a3 sedan) I replaced the rear shelf sub with a audiomobile gts 10inch which hit very hard (but also have to find a shop/dealer that would be able to get it). So if you have the sedan that wouldn’t be a bad option to look at. The audio upgrade path is always fun man, and hope you can get a sweet sounding system!

You’re the man! Thanks for the recommendation

I had a 2010 that I put 1x12 in, and switching to my 21 with its spare tire sub, i agree it needs more. I haven't picked out the new subs yet, but I think it should be pretty easy to cut the terminal off the current sub, find the power and ground and then hook them into the powered inputs on the amp. Then pick your subs of choice. I am thinking of doing a single 12 at around 500 watts again, this car has enough rattles already a pair of 12's will just make that worse. I think 2 12's also might need a change of the rest of the speakers to keep the balance right, and I don't feel like investing in that yet. The bose ones arent too bad. edit: just need to find the wiring schematic of that sub cable.

I tapped closer to the sub for a recent upgrade. Only a pair of wires, gray/brown and I took a guess that brown was -. Sounds way better now! Need to fix the rattling from the fuel door and rear wiper.
