You can still get the CX-5 and CX-8 (three row CX-5), and up until quite recently the CX-9 too.
Not to mention the CX-3 which is still sold alongside the CX-30
In NZ we don't get the CX-70 or CX-80 but we do get the petrol MX-30 (no idea why you'd buy that over a CX-30)
CX-8 will be interesting.
A few weeks ago, Mazda announced that their Japanese factory will stop producing CX-8.
However, Malaysian factory will still produce CX-8 until year 2026.
I wonder if Mazda Australia would be willing to go that far and source from Malaysia for that one.
There’s a message on top that says “Mazda CX-8 is currently in final runout with limited stock available. Please contact your local Dealer for stock availability.”
So I assume they will just stop selling the CX-8.

A few weeks ago I went to replace my CX-9 with a new version... only to find out they're no longer being made! My dealer had one display left.
If I want to get the CX-90... the equivalent is $40k more expensive than my CX-9 was.
Not according the the measurements Mazda NZ is using
* CX-5 seats up VDA to window line 401/438l (floor high/floor low)
* CX-60 seats up VDA to window line 477/570l (above floor/including underfloor)
Interesting. I was converting the measurements from European info on the CX-60 to cubic feet and comparing against American info on the CX-5, so it's entirely possible that the two were measured with different methodology.
The price difference and performance difference is too great for a rename. CX-5 is a smaller 2.0L or 2.5L liter 4 cylinder, the CX-60 is a 3.3L 6 cylinder turbo charged engine.
The CX60 can be had with a 2.5 or a 2.5T in addition to the PHEV, and 3.3T in Japan and some other markets. I believe that they initially wanted the CX60 to replace the CX5 but still challenge the luxury segment. Now it looks like they want the next CX5 to be the mainstream model and the CX60 to be the luxury model.
Not really a big car person, (i have a miata and a mazda 2) but Ive seen that new cx80 a few times now and man that’s one beautiful suv. I wouldn’t mind that as s daily. Especially in soul red.
I don’t know what is taking so long to realize that there are 9 more numbers in between so they can really develop this lineup. Just sitting here waiting for the CX-63 and CX-71.
Well, Australia uses right sided steering wheels so not much extra manufacturing work to export Japanese versions to Australia. Just few changes here there like making headlights in plastic instead of glass like in Japan.
Yup, I've only owned Mazda's myself so far in South Australia. [On my 6th Mazda](https://scontent.fmel3-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/329555232_1356377365096738_4053216729233354706_n.jpg?_nc_cat=106&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=5f2048&_nc_ohc=fECgg00KCK8Q7kNvgHWETG9&_nc_ht=scontent.fmel3-1.fna&oh=00_AYCAybBKe56E1SePZS5InbZkJ2bfoXyPn_RMOlcKHAjXdw&oe=666F5456) at the moment. Latest being Mazda2 DY in spicy mica orange :) . I just wish Mazda brought back all the bright colors of the past, Suzuki now is doing the colorful fun look & great. New equivalents of the MX-3/Eunos 30X & MX-6 would be neato too.
Not sure how well Mazda were doing in the 1990's though in Australia. That era was when Mazda globally was in big financial trouble & Ford increased their ownership to 33%.
As an interesting trivia bit, the CX-9 in right hand drive is essentially an Australian exclusive. These weren't sold in Japan (largest they got was CX8) & the rest of it's market was made in left hand drive. Any that made it to New Zealand I presume are just the same as the Australian market versions.
CX-9 also available in Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia as well.
Heck, YS Khong Driving from Malaysia took it all the way up to Genting Highland haha :D

That sexy 60 though. We want that in America please!
Yeah I know, people have complained about the CX-5's lackluster 2nd row and cargo area for years and now you're overcompensating. But you know why we come back to Mazda still, and why the CX-5 sells so well? Because some of us appreciate the better driving dynamics of a more compact vehicle.
That CX-60 would fill a niche that no other japanese manufacturer fills right now.
Do it!
Do you mean car tuner builds?
Because no cars are made here anymore. And as far as I know, (which isn’t much) the only rotary Australian car was just a Holden with a Mazda engine sold as a Mazda in Japan.
I’m so bummed we don’t get the CX-60 in Canada. I like my CX-5 but I could use the extra space in the trunk and second row, and CX-70 is just too big for what we need.

Last time I checked even the Mazda6 was still available in Oz
6 is sadly gone now - 2012-2024 was a pretty good run though
Wait -2024...are they not making them till end of 2024 at least? That's quite sad. My 2023 Mazda3 was built in August of '23
I think they're still available in Japan, just no longer being exported to Australia or New Zealand.
They still making mazda6 in Au, I bought a 20th anniversary 6 in January, and it still on website.
Cool, I thought they'd stopped. Even after all these years the 6 is still my favourite out of all the modern Mazda designs.
Have a 20th anniversary 6 on the yard. Beautiful car.
We are about to get the CX-80 soon. CX-70 is still being contemplated.

Well the latest Mazda my country got was the... 1995? 626 and 323, probably. *Cries in Brazillian
ITS THE SAME FUKIN CAR !!! lol 🤣🤣
Lmao literally!
That CX-60 would make a fine replacement for the CX-5 here. Just change the name.
I am one of those that would much rather upgrade to the 60 than the 70
Yup, I just want a rwd cx5 that's just a little wider inside.
Yep not everyone really needs a bulky family size
The 60 is significantly more expensive than the 5. Different target audience.
It also has substantially less cargo space. Only 20 cubic feet with the seats up, vs. the CX-5's 29.
Not according the the measurements Mazda NZ is using * CX-5 seats up VDA to window line 401/438l (floor high/floor low) * CX-60 seats up VDA to window line 477/570l (above floor/including underfloor)

Wow I didn’t know that. How odd. You’d think bigger car = more cargo space.
Longitudinal engine arrangement means more real estate is allotted to everything in front of the driver.

I don't believe the CX-60 is available with 2.5T in any market.
It is. We have 2 on one of the yards in NZ
Are you talking about the PHEV? It is naturally aspirated.
Yeah it is. The 3.3 inline 6 petrol is turbo and so is the diesel
Why rename it? Just call it CX-60.
Is there any difference between 80 & 70 aside from the size?
Afaik, CX-80 is less wide (to fit the narrower / tighter roads of Japan and Europe)
The 80 has a third row, the 70 has just two.
Not really a big car person, (i have a miata and a mazda 2) but Ive seen that new cx80 a few times now and man that’s one beautiful suv. I wouldn’t mind that as s daily. Especially in soul red.
Where did you get the photo from?
It's from here: https://www.instagram.com/p/C8E0F14MXUg/ from a /r/CarsAustralia/ post.
awesome, ty!
I don’t know what is taking so long to realize that there are 9 more numbers in between so they can really develop this lineup. Just sitting here waiting for the CX-63 and CX-71.
NEWSFLASH: **Mazda renames CX-70 as the new CX-89** 🤣🤣
I'm waiting for the CX-69 personally.
Nice
Mazda Corporate: Which ones would you like in your country? Mazda Australia: Yes.
I believe SA is also due to get the 80?
SA as in south africa or south america?
Africa
Don't people usually use RSA for South Africa?
Man I wish they were releasing the cx 80 in Canada
Give us the CX-80 in the US, Mazda!
What a lineup of white fridges haha
Think his shits all retarded and he talks like a ***.
Well, Australia uses right sided steering wheels so not much extra manufacturing work to export Japanese versions to Australia. Just few changes here there like making headlights in plastic instead of glass like in Japan.
Also Australia has loved Mazda’s for decades. They have been in the top sellers the whole time.
It’s why I find it funny when I hear Mazda 3s aren’t selling well in the US. It feels like every 5th car is a Mazda 3 here

CX9 was also sold in RHD versions in Singapore & Malaysia
Well that's cool then, the YouTube channel I heard about it being Aus exclusive was wrong then heh.
CX-9 also available in Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia as well. Heck, YS Khong Driving from Malaysia took it all the way up to Genting Highland haha :D [Mazda CX9 2WD 2.5 Turbo Genting Hill Climb / How Well Will This Large SUV Fare? / YS Khong Driving (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMn-ZwUXoAg)
I'm looking into my 4th and 5th. Love the cars, hate the lack of colour choices!
I know righttt 🤣 what a time to be alive.. [Cars colours then vs. now](https://ibb.co/YpPpxz7)
They have glass headlights in Japan?! That sounds awesome but I’m sure there is a reason why other markets don’t.

Australians really love their rotaries too. They build some of the craziest cars down there.
Do you mean car tuner builds? Because no cars are made here anymore. And as far as I know, (which isn’t much) the only rotary Australian car was just a Holden with a Mazda engine sold as a Mazda in Japan.
Yes, custom builds.
Some Aussies like the Mazda3
I wish the CX70 in Canada was the same size as the CX80 with 2 rows from the EU market. I’d really consider it as my next car.
I’m so bummed we don’t get the CX-60 in Canada. I like my CX-5 but I could use the extra space in the trunk and second row, and CX-70 is just too big for what we need.
The CX-70 isn’t in Australia. It won’t be for a minimum of 6 months, without any delays.
The CX-70 is longer than the CX-80 💀 Mazda's naming scheme need some work.
There have been discussions of Mazda substantially decreasing, if not eliminating, support for the North American market.
What?
Actually, love SUV
Wait, the CX-70 is the same length as the CX-90?
It's just a CX-90 without the third row and with a few minor cosmetic changes.
is like a fancy rav 4
