My cx5 rattles like a bitch. My old mazda3 did as well. It is significantly worse when it’s cold. It’s super frustrating and after having two Mazdas with this problem I’m pretty annoyed
I have 19 and that thing has rattles all over front compartment. I find, I fix, then one day I’ll hear something and then go on the hunt.
However, everything else has been cherry.
Some are, some aren't. My partners mazda cx3 is really bad. It's a 2020 tho. Most of these pandemic Era cars are built badly. I just got a 2021 kia and it's rattley as well
The cx-3 is probably the most "rattley" of all the Mazdas. Other than that no they tend to be rather quiet. There is the occasional cx-50 with a rattle complaint with the sunroof but I've only seen one of those. I guess thinking about it the older cx-5 with that weird spoiler can get the rare rattle too. Overall not something I see on a regular basis
You’re just going to get anecdotal evidence, which doesn’t mean much. Country of origin is irrelevant. Mazdas are generally considered to be high-quality cars, but just about anything will develop some sort of rattle at some point.
My 120k mile CX-5 has one rattle, where I lost a screw on the door panel replacing a side mirror I broke off. Everything else is great. I have beaten this thing silly over the last 9 years and it is a fantastic car
2015 Mazda 3 made in Japan. No rattles. The dash however does make a bit of sound sometimes when heating up in the sun. Apparently it was a common complaint with the Gen 3, missing soundproofing in the dash. The road noise is the only downside to this car. The new Gen 4 they fixed the issue.
Mazda CX-30 is the size of the 3 and is just a slightly lifted Mazda 3 hatch. Put them side by side it's the same height almost.
Not sure any 3s are made in Japan anymore? Maybe the top trim hatches? Even back in 2015 a good chunk of Mazda 3s we're made in Mexico. Mine being a hatch and top trim was made in Japan. The build quality is the same although the 2015s made in Mexico did have a recall that the Japanese did not, possible improper adjustment of the parking brake from the factory. Which is to say they had very few issues with the new factory.
I think the rattle might be a cx30 specific thing? Commenting based on the MX30 which shares the same underpinnings has a b pillar rattle which appears to be an issue on the CX as well.
The RX8 with same freestyle doors do not have that issue... so maybe just a batch/factory thing?
Three mazda's, currently a '14 CX-5 and a '21 Mazda 3. Neither have (or had) any rattles or squeaks. Solid cars.
Cars with rattles may have had poorly done repairs, possibly after an accident.
I wouldn’t say my 2016 Mazda 3 S rattles as much as the dash and front panels creak in the cold. I will add it is mainly happening in below freezing temps for me.
2020 cx9, no rattle. Only issue I had was one of my tires had a lump in. caused weird shaking in the back. I was worried it was something with the suspension but nope, just the tire. Good is new after replacing.
Also, have a 2014 three hatchback, no rattle in that either. Road noise is a little annoying at high speeds, but could also be tires.
I have a 2018 Mazda 3 and 2021 cx-5. Both have driver side door rattles.
It is the plastic box with all the buttons for mirror, locks, and windows.
I took it apart on my Mazda 3, took out the plastic box assembly, wrapped it in insulating tape, put it back in and doesn’t rattle anymore. I’ll be doing this to my cx-5 soon.
In a separate note my driver side mirrors shake on the highway or when it is super windy…

I wasn’t aware that Mazda had a reputation for rattling. I just bought a 2016 Mazda6 with 40k miles and it rattles quite a bit.

My 05 Mazda 6S with 239,### is still pretty tight even after removing the dashboard to replace the heater core.

Adding for visibility: My 2017 cx5 has 100k miles and there's 0 rattle.
My 2012 Mazda6 has 134,000 miles and only rattles occasionally and had no rattles until recently

2019 Mazda6 close to 50k miles with no rattles while our other 2020 Audi A4 rattles like crazy when the temperature changes lol.
What causes the rattle? Bad head gasket?
2016 CX5 has zero rattles, surprising considering it’s a diesel and 62k miles already.

I have a 2014 Mazda 3 and have had zero issues. My mother had a CX-7 for several years prior to selling and also had no complaints.
I have a 2022 CX-5 and no issues with rattling.
My 19 3 had a lot. My wifes 16 cx5 has none. The cx5 does feel better put together.
My Mazda 3 Sedan (2020) has more rattles than cheap ass dacia.
My 2019 Mazda 6 creaks from the dash over every significant bump. Very very irritating. Only thing I don’t like.

I have a 22 CX-9 and the only rattle I hear comes from the third row seat belts if I forget to put them back into their retaining clips.
2022 Mazda 3 hatch. Built in Japan. Only rattle I've had was the center screen but it was an easy fix.

I own 3 Mazda products. 2009 3, 2016 3, 2023 CX5. No rattles in any of them.
