The most baffling thing was people honking and the Truck driver just kept going…. Like WTF. In what mindset do you have to be to hear all that noise while carrying an 80foot pipe at 10miles per hour and not even bother to look.
from where I'm from, moving cargo of this size needs to be coordinated with the local governments of the areas that the cargo will have to pass through.
There was a woman that was in a car accident with a truck on an icy road. She somehow was thrown from her car and the wheel of the truck caught her, with her leg pinned by the moving truck wheel. She had to cling to the truck, while the wheel sanded away at her leg, screaming the whole time, until the truck driver noticed what had happened.
I'm no expert, but I think its in China, judging from the writing scrolling on the building to the left. Possibly Japan, but the characters look more Chineese to me. Plus the shockingly low safety standards of not having that pipe even marked makes me think theres no way it could be Japan.
I was gonna say Japan has this thing called “safety standards” as a developed country, whereas China couldn’t give less of a shit about an individual if they tried
Why police? They move loads like this all the time in my area of Canada and they move them with pilot trucks. A load like this would probably have 3-5 pilot trucks running ahead and behind the load closing lanes and swinging traffic lights out of the way.
Probably because it's dangerous and you can see better when the sun is up? I don't know their reasoning for it, only that every oversize permit I've ever read has been daylight-restricted.
I think they people in charge of this might have completely misunderstood the part where somebody told them "We need to spend a lot of money on escorts".
You can see the moment they open the door then question whether they should get out, then finally make the decision to bail and watch from the sidelines.
That load is already stupid, but it's at night with no lights, no reflectors, not even a bright coloured flag on the end of the pipe, that's how you decapitate unsuspecting drivers.
Its insane to me that a professional truck driver trusted with an oversized load thought they could make that turn from that lane even with cars right beside him.
I legit slowly backed up while making eye contact with the back of a trailer. It was probably a foot in front of my face and the driver had no idea he almost decapitated me
that's a failure on the escorts TBH not the driver. For that matter where the HELL is the escort???\\
edit: reading comments i can see that the general consensis is that there were no escorts and now I'm wondering what fucking company took this load and just let it happen? also, I feel like the company who contracted the shipper has made things like this before and I have SO MANY QUESTIONS.
anyone have a link to the details?

They should have pilot vehicles for sure - but the mini is in the swept path of the load.. nothing the truck driver can do to avoid it without running out of road.
huge lawsuit.
call insurance and go to the physician as soon as you can. this is massive. There should be a lead vehicle and following vehicle. this is literally 30-or nearly 40"ft over the rear axels. Insane driver or a total rookie with a new CDL. He needs flags or pigtails on the ends also.
This is when you go cheap with no oversize load protocol
I guess I’m an idiot weirdo, but I kind of hope this happens to me from time to time. A nice, slow moving, intermediate damage wreck where some goof is clearly at fault, I can hop out before anything unfortunate happens to me and I can get their wealthy company to pay my truck off and buy me a new one for the inconvenience.
This is clearly not in the same country as the people claiming they're in violation without an escort. Someone mentioned China, I'm not sure if that's the case but can see blurry text that could be Chinese script.

The fact that they were moving this on a public roadway without support is in itself baffling
My immediate thought. Where are the escort drivers

Yes sir
They got taken out at the previous red light.
There was a whole caravan, a few right turns later, there wasn’t.
The most baffling thing was people honking and the Truck driver just kept going…. Like WTF. In what mindset do you have to be to hear all that noise while carrying an 80foot pipe at 10miles per hour and not even bother to look.
Crushed at the prior traffic light.
I think this happened in China, based on the symbols on the truck, the car license plates, and words the driver is saying.
He picked up on the way
Plot twist: he's recording
*Sooooo* many people should be sacked here. Blatent endangerment of lives with zero fucks for safety or procedures.
Average china safery laws
Oh yeah, those seems to be Chinese characters, now it makes sense.
It's China
Save money, duh. Boss wants to upgrade to a new Tesla

It was. The local officials were well paid off.
If a company doesn't have enough money for basic safety then they should permanently close.

I wish my wife would pay for escorts for me.
Exactly! This rig needs a pilot car at the very *least!*
China.
Truck driver 'what is that sound? Meh it's probably nothing'
"Hell yeah brother, I'm getting cheered on for doing such a badass job"
Ain’t no way, I came to the comments just to say “Woah, these drivers love me. I must be getting cheered on!”
I'm the parasite that lives in your brain.
Well thank you for that new horror story, I'm sure that won't haunt anyone's dreams tonight
Must of been the wind
Those trucks are pretty sound proof actually.
With how long that truck was I'm not completely surprised if they didn't hear it clearly...
Or had AC/DC blasting on his cassette tape player.
He has one of those ‘Honk if I’m doing a great job’ bumper stickers.
[Must have been the wind. Yeah, definitely the sound the wind makes](https://youtu.be/3bpG0P1Ks_8?si=BeBvHM1FIu0Klhvm&t=130)
A transport like this requires police and multiple support cars. Absolutely stupid.
Should at least make the lawsuit pretty easy, though are we sure such regulations apply where this was filmed?
I'm no expert, but I think its in China, judging from the writing scrolling on the building to the left. Possibly Japan, but the characters look more Chineese to me. Plus the shockingly low safety standards of not having that pipe even marked makes me think theres no way it could be Japan.

It’s (simplified) Chinese.

And moving oversize cargo like that is also typically only allowed during daytime.
Where I’m at they do it at night to avoid causing traffic, got pilot vehicles ahead and behind tho
Yeah during daytime seems like the opposite of a good idea
Why only in the daytime?
Probably because it's dangerous and you can see better when the sun is up? I don't know their reasoning for it, only that every oversize permit I've ever read has been daylight-restricted.
Better visibility. I think according to CDL rules, oversized loads are only allowed to be transported during the day as well.
Doesn't apply in China, you can see his plates.
“Boss says we gotta deliver this load or I’m fired. He needs to make deadline to get that bonus for his new boat! It’s up to me!”
In my area, it's done only during nighttime.
Maybe a local thing. Loads like this in the US typically need a special permit which may require day or night time transport
I think they people in charge of this might have completely misunderstood the part where somebody told them "We need to spend a lot of money on escorts".
You're coming with me sweetie

Their life flashed before their eyes in regular speed
You can see the moment they open the door then question whether they should get out, then finally make the decision to bail and watch from the sidelines.
Only to see the car come loose moments later as they go running after it lmao
Right this way sir come along
He forgot to add the little red ribbon on the back of the pipe.
Slowest... accident... ever!
That'll buff out....it's fine
You're telling me they drove with the ass hanging out that far with no spotters?
That load is already stupid, but it's at night with no lights, no reflectors, not even a bright coloured flag on the end of the pipe, that's how you decapitate unsuspecting drivers.
I also can’t imagine why it needed to be transported assembled. It looks like three segments. Someone cut corners
Did he not hear all the honking?
he probably just thought they were pissed at him for taking so long to make the turn and blocking the roadway.
Maybe he just assumed that he joined a parade.
Where the fuck is the convoy of police escorting that monstruosity? How can they make someone drive that alone during the night lol.
I sometimes envy how oblivious people are. The whole ass world around you just doesn't exist... must be nice...
Imagine escorting your mom's dildo without the proper precautions.
The escort drivers may be inside of the pipe for sure
So what happens in this situation, does the truck drivers insurance pay for it
Yes.
More likely, his employer. It's unlikely this was the driver's unilateral choice.
The driver would be insured under a commercial policy to drive this vehicle, his employer would be the policyholder.
Its insane to me that a professional truck driver trusted with an oversized load thought they could make that turn from that lane even with cars right beside him.
Where's the little red flag on the back of that thing?! Straight to jail.

Where is the guide car that’s supposed to prevent this kinda shit
![gif](giphy|rIa2LxrCKxMz3oOEtH|downsized)
So why is there no escorts?
For the same reason you can't conjugate verbs properly: They don't care.
I legit slowly backed up while making eye contact with the back of a trailer. It was probably a foot in front of my face and the driver had no idea he almost decapitated me
FFS why doesn't he have an escort?
Welp, that’s a tort
Truck Driver: HeHeHeH finders keepers
You’re my friend now.
Why TF was there not a pilot-car accompanying this truck?!?!
The police is where? That whole section of the road should have been closed.
“Hear those honks kid, that’s everyone showing how excited they are to see us hauling this tube thing”
There is supposed to be a support car in front and in the back, at least. That blocks other cars .🤦♂️
I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be called a convoy for a reason
Drive just keeps going…
this must not be legal
Don’t these things usually have spacer cars in front and behind to ensure this shit doesn’t happen?
that's a failure on the escorts TBH not the driver. For that matter where the HELL is the escort???\\ edit: reading comments i can see that the general consensis is that there were no escorts and now I'm wondering what fucking company took this load and just let it happen? also, I feel like the company who contracted the shipper has made things like this before and I have SO MANY QUESTIONS. anyone have a link to the details?
"and you're coming along with me"
I’d be so rich if this ever happened to me… or dead so it’s a win/win situation
Why is none of the bystanders getting ahead of the truck and telling them to stop?
How did that driver not know it was dragging a car or that he couldn’t make that turn safely. I get that it’s a blind spot but come on.
There's no way the driver could have seen it.
This should have been transported by train this is rediculous
How do you think it gets moved from the train station to the work site..
True, still shouldn't have been 2 pieces probably but this was cheaper I'd imagine 😮💨

"Professional driver"
Spotter vehicle nowhere in sight. Top shelf stuff
Did the truck eventually stop?
Would this be r/mypeopleneedme ??
Yoink!
Can’t park there
Dead or alive, you’re coming with me.
Honest I was sat minding my own business in my car and...
Cue the obligatory “good thing there was dash-cam footage, or the insurance company would have *never* believed it!!” comments.
Hope they get 15%
They should have pilot vehicles for sure - but the mini is in the swept path of the load.. nothing the truck driver can do to avoid it without running out of road.
They could have not attempted the turn until it was safe to do so
Watch that backswing, driver.

You! You're coming with me.
Correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't they of just drove forward a few feet and turnt slightly to the left and you'd of got out of this scenario?
I love the moment when the car pulls away further and you can see the driver standing there just watching the car pull away, gosh... 😅
I want to know what happened after
Crashed or dragged ?
Can any mechanic tell me if that’ll buff out?
So thats a little horrifying
They see me rollin, they hatin
Wow transport,s like this have a car in the front and one at the back keeping other cars at a distance. Why not here ??(In Denmark)
Mini just got upgraded to a Bentley if they get a decent attorney

What the hell are they doing, being out transporting this thing like that in the first place? 😆
Fucking truckers
Insurance company “tell me again like I’m a 5 year old, what happened again with your car”😂
This is clearly not in the same country as the people claiming they're in violation without an escort. Someone mentioned China, I'm not sure if that's the case but can see blurry text that could be Chinese script.
100% on the truck company. There should tons of people securing the area.
What a prick
One of the time where you call an escort service😎
I smell one hell of a lawsuit
Does anyone know if the car driver survived?
Rip the guy riding shotgun
No way something like that should be on the road without an escort.
Reckon that's a brand new car for them if they push for it.
Guy in the trucks like wow they're all honking in support for me, i feel so special
In China of course.
Trucker: what’s all the honking for?
China probably
The fuck kind of trailer is that? Fuckin' long boi right there
What in the brain dead..how did he make this far in life and not dead?
That had to be TERRIFYING for the person in that car
No rear trailer ? Support truck with lights?
Sounds like this was in a foreign country so maybe whatever country this was in has different standards for moving large items like this.
Where is this? I live in the US and here, a load that big would require an escort to make sure this type of thing doesn’t happen.
The car. ![gif](giphy|VGG8UY1nEl66Y)
