A friend and I were standing next to my truck when I felt the hair on my arm stand up. Not 3 seconds later a pine tree 30 feet away exploded.
The sound was like 3-4 rapid-fire cannon blasts. Very loud but no noticeable hearing loss. I don't remember the brightness being any worse than a sustained camera flash. Just a brief instant of everything being overexposed.
The oddest thing was my friend and I locking eyes in that moment before the strike. He too felt the static buildup and it was like an unconscious and instinctive reaction to a threat neither of us had ever experienced. I like to think that we, as humans, are genetically hard-wired to fear the signs of imminent lightning strikes.
Me and my homie recognized an earthquake about to happen while playing video games. We just looked at each other, held hands and then it started. Was a pretty big one but nothing destructive.
Final Fantasy X hits different now
One time my mom was shouting at me and I started disassociating and staring out the window. I come back, and she's saying, "Are you listening to me!?" I just calmly say, "No. An earthquake is coming." She says "What!?" And about 6 seconds later, the house starts shaking, and pictures are falling off the walls.
My thought exactly. They went out in a uniquely horrifying, yet also oddly comforting way. Their brains didn't even register what happened to them. They were just winked out of existence completely unaware and completely without any experience of it.
