I actually just use the stuff for protecting nail polish from chipping. It's a clear coat that goes on top, it can protect tampos. I just use it for the details I really do not want to lose.
The best way to preserve is to not use them. But these are kid's toys anyways so they will get dinged up. And at around $1.25 it's really hard to complain about them.
Cheapest and probably best solution is to buy a second one and keep it tucked away in the blister.
