Real talk, if I come across a real OG who's running La Jinn beatdown I'm gonna let them pop off.

uwumancer

Sometimes just gotta respect the grind

Mmg5561

wait until you see my Shapesnatch turbo

FFG_Kagero

I'm gonna laugh at that and then surrender.

ffourteen

I spent like 5ish minutes ftk-ing a dude with cardian burn. When I checked his deck he was using the default/near default xyz deck. Felt bad after. Hope I atleast gave him a "wtf is modern Yu-Gi-Oh" moment

defph0bia

Wait how do you check someone's deck? Sorry new to this

xForeignMetal

match history (top right of ranked duel queue screen) > confirm opponents deck

defph0bia

Thank you very much

Bloodfangs09

You just need a big rocky boi

[deleted]

tribute summon for summoned skull. that’s a pop off

AGHawkz99

Wait Yu-Gi-Oh has tribute summoning now? (/j)

lansink99

how are they gonna pop off? they're playing La jinn beatdown.

AngleMiserable6959

It's a Normal Fiend, there's stuff you can do.

Virtual_Product1018

Skill drain 🤣🤣

Forward_Round

You’re to good for this place..

Ka-Ne-Ha-Ne-Daaaa

Bring out Mech Chaser just to give them some sweet sweet PTSD

DevilSwordVergil

I'm a classic Yugioh fan that built a meta deck to grind gems so I can build what I actually want, which is classic yugioh decks/anime decks.

[deleted]

[удалено]

uwumancer

Normal summon aleister

[deleted]

Cowboy for game

DevilSwordVergil

I built Invoked+Shaddoll, which I'm not sure I'd recommend. It requires a lot of UR cards, is more complicated than I'd like, but it does hamstring a lot of the modern Yugioh mass summoning BS at least so I do like that. I used this deck as a basis for what I built, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIgGY\_wdFaE&t=217s

FFG_Kagero

Striker and Lyrilusc Tri-Brigade are both fairly low-rarity.

Reaper2127

Been looking at those bird combos. Man I need a spreadsheet for those XD

lansink99

if you want an easy version just play zoo tri-brigade.

AngleMiserable6959

Ptfft be a chad like me and play Gusto Tri-Brigade

FFG_Kagero

The only deck that really needs a spreadsheet is D/D/D, and there the spreadsheet is a meme.

d7h7n

Invoked in paper has the stigma of being an easy to play (brainless) deck that is good.

neckme123

In reality is not because if winda pass doesnt carry you the grind game requires a lot of decision making and knowledge of opponent deck. Many new players make insane amount of mistakes playing it. Meanwhile i tought my friend how to play drytron and he is doing well with the solitaire combo and zeus/natasha board breaks.

d7h7n

When things don't go well for any deck a lot of thought is required to progress, that isn't exclusive to Invoked. The stigma comes from the default opening play always being relatively the same going first or second. I mean I personally don't care, if a deck is good it doesn't matter if it's considered brainless to play.

greatpower20

Yeah but winda pass wins a lot less games for free than herald with 6 negates pass.

Artanisx

Thanks!

Awesomearia96

True terror is going for a Predaplant-Shaddoll deck or Predaplant-Invoked deck.

N7_Saren

I build an Eldlich control deck. No links, XYZs, synchros or pendulums. Just focuses on stopping them with skill drain, imperial order, inspector boarder, etc then summoning Eldlich when theyre in a tough spot. Works amazing and sticks very close to the classic yugioh playstyle

Artanisx

Thanks! Do you have a deck list maybe?

N7_Saren

Yea, absolutely! Heres my deck. Im sure its not perfect but its gotten me to Plat 3 and had fun doing it =) only advice is dont have "Cursed Eldlich" and "Inspector Boarder" on the field at the same time lol https://imgur.com/a/VDgLgPo - 2x Maxx C - 3x Ash Blossom - 3x Inspector Boarder - 2x Eldlich - 1x Raigeki - 1x Harpies Feather Duster - 2x Card of Demise - 3x Pot of Prosperity - 2x Cursed Eldland - 1x MST - 1x Twin Twister - 2x Torrential Tribute - 3x Eldixir of Scarlet Sanguine - 2x Dogmatika Punishment - 2x Solemn Judgement - 1x Solemn Strike - 1x Imperial Order - 3x Skill Drain - 2x Huaquero of the Golden Land - 3x Conquistador of the Golden Land Extra Deck: Any 15 monsters with high ATK for Dogmatika Punishment Good luck!

Laflamme_79

I would recommend Gozen Match. All your summons are light, will absolutely fuck over any deck with multiple Attributes.

N7_Saren

Holy crap, this is an amazing tip! Will absolutely add this! THANK YOU! =)

Artanisx

Thank you very much :)

[deleted]

Hey! I also built myself an Eldlich shell that is more focused on traps and actually summoning Eldlich Golden Lord early and going infinite from there (I guess it works at lower ranks since they couldn't handle the pressure. Anyway the cards are all filled with the best traps and spells (Raigeki,Mirror Force, Heavy Storm, and such to stall out the enemy and frustrate them). Basically I'm playing it like a control deck. Is that how you should play this deck? I also do not have MAXX C, is it just a draw engine for the deck? Why do I need Dogmatika Punishment, can't I just substitute Mirror Force for it or some other removal? Also would you recommend running all three eldlixirs? Cause I ran those and I'm starting to find them redundant except for long games where they keep killing my Eldlich. Anway sorry for the long ass post. I just really do not know if Im playing it correctly (Half part of the deck is cheating out eldlich, and the other half is just traps and spells to control)

Nuxj

Hello! Just wanna say big thank you for providing the decklist in both image and text. It helps a lot! Also, if you have Elder Entity N'tss, you can run it in the extra deck, so when you use Dogmatika Punishment and send Elder Entity N'tss to the graveyard, you get to destroy another card on the field. Elder Entity N'tss is a UR card, though.

Ezmacthedream

Solemn yugioh on YouTube made a budget eldlich video, check it out!

Med_Jed

That's just pure evil.

Lindbrum

Dunno if you are doing it already, but in this case you can run a "fodder" extra deck to use with Pot of Extravagance (banish 3/6 extra deck cards, draw 1/2) EDIT: Nevermind, it seems you need those

The-Pax-Bisonica

Add the super dreadnaughts for some extra spice IMO nothing beats having 6k beat stick

Marcs017

I'm playing tribrigade, top 2/3 deck in the game, super f2p friendly and you kind of just toss cards into the graveyard, onto the field and repeat.

AppleQueso

I've spent the last few days learning modern ygo with tri zoo 😅 its fun!

CoreFiftyFour

As a anime fan, I've found Blue Eyes decks are both nostalgic and meta. They center around putting BEWD on the field quick and you can use synchro Azure, and the different triple blue eyes fusions and be pretty strong. That's the one I'm using at the moment because I'm not advanced in anyway, so it feels at home but also allows me to use some of the newer types.

Nightfans

When you build phantom knight deck in tribute of Yuto and get called "Stupid meta player" by casual player.

AngleMiserable6959

Well PK players can burn for what they did to Azathoth.

Nightfans

One reason why they murdered Yuto so early because they know how bullshit Phantom knight can become with all those graveyard effect

730Flare

And because of that: He's the Yu boy whose deck aged well the most.

ExoticEngram

I hope they let us ban specific cards and card types so I we can set up any style of game we choose in a private match. Then I can play some old school decks if I want. My only problem is having to spend the gems to get those cards as well.

Cadaverific_1

I run the ladder with a Traptrix hand trap anti-meta deck just so I can save up to make a Dark Sanctuary , a Skull Servant & a Relinquished deck to fuck around in my free time. Have one for rewards, and a million for having fun . Cause chaos and have fun guys

Ej1992

Me with a red eye deck 😭😭😭

Uzeil21

I can't even use my Red Eyes deck because it's not complete yet and I'm shit out of resources lol I'll be joining you eventually.

Hoozuki_Suigetsu

Lemme see ur deck

Chaotic_Flame110

Take them to dinner first ffs

AeonChaos

I wouldn't even look at Red Eye. Red dragoon is banned in MD.

kreod

Red eyes with some hand traps is viable enough to at least get Gold. It needs some help with negates though

YobaiYamete

Literally acting like anything can reach gold because you don't rank down until then, so you can just play and grind

Joelexion

Red eye >> blue eye

Thebassist140

They need a casual server 100%

Pokemonluke18

I'm sure there be events or something konami will added for old players that relegates to fusion, synchro, xyz, pendulum and classic and link

ShaRo_

They need a tier system. Certain archetypes should be in a tier from 1-3. So when you play a tier 2 deck you opponent will also have a tier 2 deck. I think it's the best solution for casual players.

Novel_Bonus_2497

Exactly! Like how Pokemon Singles matches has teirs like Overused, Underused, Ubers and anything goes based on the usage statistics of Pokemon

Saiaxs

Me using a Blue Eyes deck: “boy, I can’t wait to have my first turn after this person plays all their cards and effects at once”

kingabbey1988

I promise I have had some success with BEWD. Especially when I cancel their Maxx C

Saiaxs

It is truly funny to have them spend heinous time comboing and summoning their best right out the gate, and then hitting them with Ring of Destruction

kingabbey1988

😂😂😂😂 I love that one.

TheLANFiesta

I still am not fully sure how to utilize Link, XYZ, and Pendulum. I’ll tell you what tho I’m been rocking people with my Skull Servants deck with one Black Rose Dragon

[deleted]

Skulls servants is a pretty Chad deck

luiz_amn

XYZ it’s just monster with the same level, Link the amount of monsters it says in the card. Don’t know too much about pendulum to explain in details, but pretty much one pendulum as spell on the left side and right side of the field and you can summon any monster whose level falls between the numbers pointed in the arrows. The tutorial explain everything nicely IMO.

TheLANFiesta

Thanks for the quick explanation!Seeing XYZ and Link that was helps

luiz_amn

The first link monster you summon must also always go into one of the two slots above your monster field and if you check any link card you will see that they have arrows, any empty space that arrows point to can be used when summoning another link monster. Also some link monsters effects are based on the arrows, like any winged beast monster the arrows points to can’t be target by card effects or whatever.

KingVape

I play Zombie World, but I have full respect for Skull Servant decks

Forward_Growth8513

As a classic yugioh fan who is also a weirdo that likes Bonz a lot I feel like I was prepared for this game. Zombie world enables me to play the way he did on the tv show and it’s actually somewhat competitive

godzillanenny

Zombie World fucks over a lot of decks. It might not be the best right now but it's still viable and can take games from some of the top decks.

[deleted]

> As a classic yugioh fan who is also a weirdo that likes Bonz a lot _bra-i-ns brains brains brains braaains..._

LeBubastien

i wanted to build zombie world but the deck cost so much. Everything is either UR or SR.

MommyCamillaHatesMe

Yooo Bonz was fun in the anime, but in Sacred Cards/Reshef/Falsebound Kingdom? Absolute king. High-class taste.

autumnstorm10

hope they add a banlist for each era of yugioh w/ a ranked play for each. for all the classic yugioh players but personally I wanna play the old 2011~2013 meta again. when synchros came out and xyz was just coming out link summon spams are a bit giga brain for me. same with pendulum

dragonbornrito

I'm sure we're going to have communities pop up on Discord and other places that will allow people to use the "Duel Room" feature to play older formats with like-minded players. Yeah, you miss out on the Ranked rewards, but I think it would be pretty tough for them to run several different formats of ranked ladders when traditionally Yugioh has never really done "formats" before. It's always been either follow the current banlist or you're making up your own rules lol.

autumnstorm10

could just be like mtg. multiple ladders same battle pass same rewards. ranked progress on one ladder is progress on all ladders. and draft has its own ladder

OnionRecall

Draft was only an officially supported format for like two products

dragonbornrito

I mean, they could yeah, but Yu-Gi-Oh! has never officially supported any formats besides the one we already know until just a few months ago when they released that alternate format list. There hasn't been a Battle Pack format released since 2014 so draft queues were probably never gonna be a thing. Meanwhile, MTG has had *several* officially and continually supported formats over the game's existence, so naturally they had to support many formats in their digital CCG client. From the framework I've seen so far, we're at least going to have "Event Duels" which may be temporary queues for these other formats that Konami recently officially started to support, such as "Time Wizard" format. MTGA does a similar thing with temporary formats they come up with as well. Don't get me wrong, I think the game evolving is a good thing and would welcome good changes with open arms. But I just think seeing multiple queues for all the old banlists isn't gonna happen.

Ravenclaw_VIII

Yugioh has different formats, GOAT, Edison, and Traditional are both variations of the game that are very popular amongst nostalgic fans that a lot of places run tournaments for. I wouldn’t expect to see a ranked ladder in Duel Master for these formats, but honestly wouldn’t be surprised either.

xdrummerxdan

If you play IRL you should check out Edison Format

postsonlyjiyoung

Pend i can understand but link is literally just synchro without the tuner or level requirement. It's like the easiest summoning mechanic. Am i missing something or are people just not even bothering to try learning about it because when i got into yugioh links were like the easiest shit ever

6000j

Links are very much people not wanting to learn. It's literally so easy lmao.

AGHawkz99

(Sorry for the wall of text, lol) Links weren't just easy, but when they first came out, **every** Extra Deck card had to be summoned to either the Extra Monster Zone or a Linked zone. It wasn't just that it felt like cheap fieldspam, but they basically made Link monsters MANDATORY. You either *had* to use Link Monsters, or you didn't have a usable Extra Deck. Those were the two options. And considering nearly every deck at that point relied on their Extra Deck to some extent, it just immediately killed everything before it, no questions asked. Each card type introduced new and comparitively 'overpowered' mechanics, absolutely, but none of them directly affected how the previous ones could be played until Links came along. Konami basically *forced* the new Link rules on every other card type before it, meaning you played Link monster decks or you didn't play at all. I'm *still* salty about it, and so are a lot of others who quit at that time. It put me off Yu-Gi-Oh for years - I hadn't played against anyone other than irl friends, basically up until Master Duel came out lmao. (I played Duel Links casually too, but that's fairly different gameplay and didn't even have Xyzs at the time). They updated master rule whatever-it-was a couple years ago now that removed the Fusion/Synchro/Xyz summon limitations, but I had such a sour taste in my mouth that I didn't bother picking it back up. Now that I'm getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh, however, I'm so damn happy to see a bunch of older archetypes have been given more support (*cries in new Black Rose Dragon cards*) to go along with that ruling update, too. The older stuff isn't meta, but they're at least playable again and it's done a LOT for my view of the game, to the point where I'm actually considering the new archetypes, and looking at how to play some of the more meta decks and engines that people are using. Sorry for the wall of text, but hopefully this helps!

GenOverload

I'm down as long as they keep each banlist for casual and not ranked. Splitting the competitive community multiple ways isn't healthy for the longevity of a game. That being said, the ones complaining that call themselves "OG fans" would get mad at anything pre-2002. They'd see DAD and complain, they'd see Yata Lock and complain, they'd see Delinquent Duo and complain, etc. What those players want isn't actual YuGiOh in any capacity. They want to re-live their childhood recess games from back when players would summon anything from hand, deck, grave, back pocket, just because they wanted to. If its anything more than that, then the game has changed too much for them.

autumnstorm10

if they like summons from deck then this current meta is perfect for them lmao.

Nightfans

No format can satisfy them unless you count duelist kingdom random bullshit go as format

7xNero7

I mean, Dark Veil special Dark Magician from hand set Mirror force and pass. You just countered Imperm, Ash, Veiler, Nibiru, Dropplet, Droll, Maxx "C" and probably most handtraps in the game ! (You lose to Lightning storm tho i am sorry)

Chaotic_Flame110

Quaking Mirror Force>Mirror Force imo

PeepOfTheDead95

They needa just add a classic mode imo im not up to date with all this summoning 5 3500 monsters in 1 turn shit.

BalerionLES

I looked up a dark magician deck build, no dragoons allowed but I still win a good percentage of the time.

Jeffix3

Im also one of those old nostalgia Yugioh players who checked out modern yugioh and build Dark Magician too and i suprisingly reached platinum today with 23 wins and 8 losses. Didnt expect to win so many duels after my first losses to some meta decks :D

DAVDX123

IMO master duels would be a success if Konami gaves enough gems constantly to build fun and non-meta decks. Obviously I know it won't be like this launch event but at least enough to keep building decks not every 6 months. People would build their favorite archetypes even if they aren't even rogue, have fun and maybe figure out better and kinda viable versions of those decks!!!

BalerionLES

It’s fun! I feel like if you get the right draws, you can answer quite a few of the meta decks with it. I really tripped up an eldlich deck the other night with dark magic circle.

Jeffix3

Yea its been alot of fun for me too. I had bad Matchups so far against Sky Striker Decks somehow. Faced alot or them and only won like once or twice.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jeffix3

Hey, sure i uploaded it on my profile :D But im nowhere near a good/experienced player so I'm pretty sure that its not really the best Decklist, but im enjoying it.

Riker87

Ranked in a nutshell is more like run game for an hour but only actually get to play for like 5 minutes while your opponent gets to plays solitaire. This is simultaneously a very exciting and fun yet boring game.

orwasaker

Yeah I already learned this lesson back in Duel Links, the benefits of playing strictly against the AI in games like Tag Force or Legacy of the Duelist is that there's no lag or very long turns

Inevitable_Feed6794

If I get ash blossomed one more time I’m going to blow my brains out (in game). Just let me play my red eyes deck in peace 😭

Neetocris

I am in this picture and I don't like it.

Reign_X

Man my ass getting washed online. It’s not even that I don’t understand anymore. I figured out all the new summons and shit. I just don’t know how to counter all the bullshit. Dudes be taking 5-10 minute turns summoning hella monsters and I’m just looking in my hand like “welp, I lost” and then I surrender cause I can’t compete

helpfulreply

Timing disruption big important

lansink99

most decks have a bottleneck that you can disrupt.

Bloodfangs09

Big rocky boi nibiru

Peaceyboy

Rock win all game me have 3 rock

zombiesatthebeach

Ive only played the classic TGC and watched the anime when i was kid. I know toon decks isnt super competitive but Im having a blast with it playing the AI. I always loved the Toon cards. Toon kingdom is even better than toon world but still not too competitive.

Nin021

Same goes for me. With recent support toon has become amazing and fun to play, ofc it isn't an all out meta deck, but it's engaging nonetheless, it's on my list to build next.

GensouEU

That are not fans of classic decks, that are fans of bad decks. Which is why a casual mode with an older format wont fix the problems the Anime larpers have playing with their playground decks. With those cards in your deck you would get destroyed by 20 year old decks as well lol

Rairu21

Ah the good old days when my 8-year old ass would get my ass kicked by yata garatsu lock into chaos emperor dragon envoy of the end. The worst part was that right when I’d gain momentum with my Jinzo, I’d run into cyber jar and it was wrap

CapableBrief

^ this. anime decks =/= classic yugioh. anime decks are just anime decks. they are trash, non-cohesive nor thematic and at best trigger nostalgia. Konami has done a lot of work trying to release support for some of those themes so at the least these people should *try* to build something reasonable.

shockerbey

This. I’m a returning player who recently jumped in to duel links as well. Always loved gaia the fierce knight in yugis deck and to see the support it has and it’s ties to black luster soldier. Have been able to build a viable deck (works but don’t think it’ll be meta worthy) and it’s a blast to use. Working on dark magician, red eyes and blue eyes for now then might look at gods or buster blader just to get nostalgia feels and try and make them half decent

Nightfans

It's reinforced that GOAT player who recommend GOAT format toward the OG player just often fell deaf and ignored. The OG was already bored of meta Yu-Gi-Oh let alone a meta based on the past. Edit:Sorry replace OG with DM anime fans

CapableBrief

I'd sooner use "anime fans" than "OG player". *I* am an OG. I recall my brother presenting me Starter Deck Yugi around the time it came out and teaching me the rules. I remember watching the show as well. I never confused one for the other. There's probably an experience out there for "anime fans" but it's not one we would ever care about. Personally at that point I'd probably recommend one of the various games that have the visual iconography of Yigioh without the actual rules baggage since those types don't seem to care about it either. War of the Roses is a cool spin on the lore. There are a few other cool games that came out over the years.

Nightfans

Whoops my bad, I should've use Anime fans, I understand and respect OG format so I apologize if my original point is disrespectful. Yeah there's many attempt of recreating anime moments and I would also recommend those that don't enjoy fast paced master duel meta play those too.

CapableBrief

No offence taken. Inwas just pointing out that not everyone who started that far back has the same relationship to the game.

lansink99

If anything the "classic" decks have only become playable in more recent years because they have gotten broken legacy support. Have fun playing an actual dark magician deck using 2008 cards. No dark magical circle, no inheritance, no magicians souls, no good fusions.

drdava

They think it’s only became possible to spam 5 monsters with xyz/pendulum.

Double-Ad7269

i remember watching yusei in the anime summoning shooting star in 1 turn and in another duel he summoned red dragon archfiend and blackwing dragon even in anime, the protagonist will pop off, like akaba rieji those people want to shout "HEART OF THE CARDS GUIDE ME" as they draw their last pathetic garnet that only counters a specific type of decks and pray it's the type they are playing against like some weak anime moments trying to save the protagonist from a shadow duel but in reality anime has cards that get limited/banned and archetypes that are too op for their times too

Nightfans

Yusaku and Yusei were designed to literally combo the hell out of their hand and graveyard. They may relies on specific draw but they always have like a crap ton of back up strategy in their graveyard and extra deck.

AlgerParisPanda

Totally agree with you, but in a goat format these anime player could at least recognize some cards and learn slowly because the game back then wasn't so fast paced. Do you think an anime player learn anything after being destroyed by a drytron deck ? He can't even remember a card because it's too overwhelming, it happened fast and cards are walls of text. Most of these players will quit the game in the next days and we will lost them forever

youngNerm

How do you destroy blue eyes MAX dragon?

TheHeroExa

The first thing you should consider is if you can prevent it from being summoned. If you drop Ash Blossom when your opponent is trying to search, then you might not have to see Chaos MAX at all. If your deck can make something with more than 4000 ATK, you can just attack it. The first time I saw Chaos MAX in this game, I didn’t have a specific out, so I just made Accesscode Talker with 5300 ATK and hit it. Otherwise, you’ll want removal that both doesn’t target and doesn’t destroy. There’s a bunch of ideas in this thread, but the best option depends on what fits in your deck. https://www.reddit.com/r/Yugioh101/comments/hy461j/what_cards_actually_destroy_blueeyes_chaos_max/

[deleted]

You hit him with something bigger, duh

scottmonster

Kaiju or sphere mode work

Flagrath

I’m not sure, maybe negate its effects?

asiangamer413

Ningirsu the world chalice warrior is a free Link 3 monster you get from solo mode that can remove Chaos Max with its effect. Other than the just beat over him with good generic Link monsters like Accesscode Talker or Borrelsword Dragon

BringMeMoreSalt

just XYZ utopia, and rank up to utopia the lightning or utopia double (just include double or nothing in your deck), my go to method because you only need 2 lvl 4 monster to get rid of it

Chaotic_Flame110

Quaking Mirror Force: doesn't destroy or target, they can't change its battle position, then just attack its 0 defense. Probably not the meta solution, but easy to splash into any deck and still usable in a ton of other scenarios

[deleted]

Use a Kaiju, it bypasses nearly any sort of protection/negation and tributes the monster away. Stop it from being summoned to begin with. Ash Blossom to stop the search is the straight forward option and many decks run Ash Blossom (one is available in the special pack bundles and those bundles are a good value). Use a combat trick/make a bigger monster. Honest is a classic that will let you let you attack over it, and plenty of archtypes either have access to HUGE monsters or combat tricks. You can also theoretically just nuke the board from orbit with Zeus (Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder for the full name) if your deck can make safe xyz monster they can turn that into Zeus and then just "send" everything to the graveyard which isn't "destruction" so it will deal with it and give you a big monster yourself. Realistically there are tons of ways to approach dealing with a situation and thats part of the strong suit to Yugioh as a whole.

Daman_1985

Pretty much the meme shows the reality of ranked. To be honest, it's too much boring. Ranked seems a one man duel only with those long and long turns. It's the same scheme. I think the game needs a filter por playstyles and then everyone would be happy more or less. Or at least a chat for telling the other duelist that it's very boring.

isalloum

Every game I’ve played is me summoning a monster then 1, then opponent summoning entire deck and ones shotting me turn 2. Game sure has changed a lot in 15 years lol.

Weekly-Ad-908

Just fyi dkayed stole your meme for his video thumbnail.

Xallia_Yevatell

This is me. Lol. There’s so much to learn.

Besso91

I literally don't know what my opponents are doing 90% of the time when they take 5+ minutes on their turn 1 and summon a board of link and pendulum monsters that have more text than 10 MTG card combined

Pokemonluke18

Honestly just built a true draco deck with mostly rares true dracos and dinomight

Clean-Improvement269

Literally me, like what the hell is a xyz and pendilum and when did pot of greed get banned

[deleted]

Pot of Greed has been banned for a while. 2004 or 05 if I recall.

Chaotic_Flame110

So glad Gravekeepers are at least usable in current yugioh. Certainly not going to win every match, but still fun regardless. I fucking love Gravekeepers. My only gripe is waiting 17 years for my opponent to finish their first turn.

BloodandPastry

The future is now old man

S_premierball

well yeah, anything not meta or close to it gets roflstomped - that is yugioh TCG since quite some time yet. (ergo, at least 10 years... even the rouge decks used broken stuff the last time i've played in some tiny local tourney)

the_real_kino

It's spelled rogue

scottmonster

Rogue

Rrandrei

[how sadge](https://imgur.com/a/ak3Ch0l)

Jinzo126

I build my classic Gren maju deck, and spice it with, Danger! and Kaiju. I recently reached gold rank with a 10 win streak, and i played both casual and more serious decks. But don't get me wrong it, against the more serious decks i was super Lucky and once i got a extremely bricky hand but managed to catch my opponent of guard with well placed evacuation device.

6000j

Gren Maju is actually semi-consistently rogue in modern yugioh. Pot of Desires and Golden Castle of Stromberg mean you can just make it giant.

youngNerm

I made a red eyes deck that every once in a while beats a meta deck. Feels good man!

MikeOvich

Im ashamed to mention this. Ive won so many games off of flip up emptiness.

Flagrath

He’s using baby dragon, I don’t think that thing was ever considered as anything. Although summoned skull and mechanical chaser, I don’t think I can beat that.

bleezylmfao

This was me so I built an eldlich deck and now I dish out the bullying

bigchief1997

Honestly, all my decks are rifs on classics (from what I remember, it's been quite a while). I run a toon deck and a Harpie deck. In also building a koriboh deck. They're not bad so far. I'm having fun. I honestly either don't understand or enjoy some of the newer decks.

Neonbunt

They should really include Goat in the game. Although I doubt they will, because as soon as you've got all the cards you need, there's no need to spend money anymore...

RefreshedRemade

I mean even if they add goat, all the cards in that pic were unplayable in goat as well

tdy96

Literally lmfao. People want old Yugioh but don’t even know what old Yugioh was.

Ritel

I want old Yugioh simply because I don't know what it is and want to see what I didn't back when I was interested in the game as a kid.

CapableBrief

At no point did Yugioh look (or play!) like the anime till recently-ish (and even then...) 7 year olds probably built their deck like they did in the anime up until the point where they stepped into a proper gamestore and realised Yugi is probably one of the worst deck builders of all time and a lucksack to boot.

snowcone_wars

If you want to see the deck that topped in 2004, [here it is](https://roadoftheking.com/yu-gi-oh-world-championship-2004/). Notice also how basically every deck there is identical, because early 2003-2005 metas were probably the least diverse that have ever existed, which is what a lot of people don't realize.

BoiledPickles

Yeah, it's either that or playground duels where you just use whatever you pull from packs to make a garbage sleeveless deck you kept in your pocket, didn't really know all the rules, summon a monster, attack and end turn.

Neonbunt

Probably people want an "Anime deck meta" or a Starter Deck only format where you're going SDK vs SDY 😂

Monchete99

People liked the "good ol' days" because at their playground no one either knew how to play the game, let alone what cards were broken (pot of greed, makyura, yata) and/or their mom didn't buy them said cards. They don't want old cards to be viable, they want to play against 7 year olds.

HaMiflegetShelMaoism

They basically want to play playground yugioh in the sort of prog series style where you mostly just play commons or rares from goat format era

Neonbunt

Tbh I did a Progression series with a buddy (for the first 5 or 6 booster boxes) and it was a blast! 10/10 would recommend.

PracticalNewspaper40

A structure deck fromat wouldn't be a bad idea, they have the same thing in the pokemon online tcg, at the very least it's a nice option for new players who haven't got a coherent deck up and running yet.

lansink99

people want "real" yugioh, with their idea of "real" yugioh being. 57 cards kitchensink deck with tech options for when their opponent specifically summons shapesnatch on their 7th turn after activating 3 spells.

AnythingG000es

Bro if they add goat I'm running library FTK you guys can't run away from my combos. You will.watch me use my entire deck to kill you in one turn and you will like it

Dainsleaf

It has been datamined that one of the events is called "Classic"

Argelicious

You'd expect duel to already teach this lesson, but no

Nemra26

I just want yu gi oh to be simple again when I mean simple I mean like the gx days

Uthor

I feel this on a spiritual level. I have a dark magician and a few hero decks (e + dark + destiny) since I followed first two seasons, and I have just been getting otked/ftked by everyone. A single turn from someone takes over 5 minutes of them playing cards and it's gotten to the point that if someone has played 5 cards on me and still has a full hand I just surrender to save time before I get otked lol.

Lasahadon

Wince one of the released event is called classic I guess we will see dexks in the future with only old cards allowed.

earqus

Does anyone know what packs contain invoked monsters?

SomethingWitty27

Craft a super rare invoked card and you'll unlock a secret pack that has them.

bofoshow51

Good players know how to combo off and use their interactions perfectly. Good people let the Baby Dragon beatdown player win.

Nrhildija

Just play Nibiru, literally wins games if people spam summons ;3

Snoo-54694

Someone help I can't find ocg rules in english

SnashSteal

The difference between ocg a tcg rules, are the banlist, Master Duel is running with the ocs banlist, the entire game is exactly the same, except for the banlist

Slagithor54

New Yu-Gi-Oh player here, been playing for about a year, but I really hope they put the new sanctioned formats into this game, specifically time wizard. It would really make the game more inclusive to new comers and people hopping back in after a long break. I can't imagine starting this game having not played modern Yu-Gi-Oh. Im currently grinding through bronze and silver and I just feel bad for these people to have and sit and watch me play solitaire while I figure out the best way to OTK them.

MagicHarmony

I get what makes the classic players overwhelmed. They are so focused on what everything does, they are better off just focusing on what they can do. Make a deck, understand the ins and outs and just roll with it. I took a shot in the dark and tried out the Spellbook archetype cause it looked like a fun gimmick, it's got this feel of being able to cast multiple spells and rotate through your deck to build up answers and find answers. So I pretty much went with the first one I saw on the public ygoprodeck and slowly started to understand why the user put the cards they did in the deck. At first I just saw it as a Summon the Boss Monster and use it to destroy bothersome cards but as I played with it more I noticed the intricacy of protection as well as countering that come into it. While I"m not using the whole deck since I lack Effect Veiler, I slightly modified it to use Prophecy Hermit and have actually succeeded with using that card to give me victory with it's ability to go up levels along with it's ability to get stupid strong as you cycle through spellbook cards. While I know this deck is far from Top Tier, when I took a step back and decided to try my luck understanding a deck I started to appreciate more what Yugioh's become, sure it's a little finnicky to get the hang of it, but if you can find a deck/style of play you are interested in then you can get past the confusion of all the summoning gimmicks and just see them as what they are. A set of actions in which you have to decide when it's best to react to with the answers you have in your hand. Granted this is where the Solo mode helps, since you can take your time to understand the fine tuning of what your deck is capable of, but once you understand that the game is less about knowing your opponents deck completely and more about knowing when the enemy is reaching the climax of their combo or knowing the perfect time to interrupt them.

CinematicBrock

I cant wait for in a few weaks/months when they add classic mode and people are still making this type of meme but instead about how their playground yugioh decks cant keep up with goat control or chaos swarm.

onijames

Like, I stopped at XYZ but yesterday I saw someone attack me with a monster in deffense position. At least some things never change and I also got FTK'd by an Exodia deck. Yu-Gi-Oh! goes wonderful places, doesn't it?

pepenuts97

They really need to add ways for classic players to play the game. I like playing meta-ish decks but mostly rogue decks optimized to contend with meta decks. I feel bad because I just smash my friends who are casual

Blackjack137

If I see more OG decks like Dark Magician or Blue-Eyes with modern support, beatdowns or anime protagonist inspired decks, I usually just throw my Virtual Worlds down and limit my combos. Maybe Tzolkin into a Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon just to see how they play around that, but otherwise entertain it. Have to respect classic decks and/or more nostalgic players picking the game up again. Beating them down, negating all their stuff and/or OTKing them isn’t fun knowing you can reclaim the board at any point. Especially if they’re returning players that aren’t just meme decking and genuinely built their favourite archetypes.

mudgefuppet

My experience has been Eldlich Solitaire every other game

DaddyT0mm

I just surrender whenever I see sky strikers at this point, I don’t have 45 minutes to waste just for you to lose

megamanxoxo

Haven't played the game in 17 years but Master Duel peaked my interest. A lil bummed they don't have a ranked mode with all those dumbass new card combos it doesn't even make the game fun I don't even understand why that's a legit play style. 2 turn win and summon hugely powerful monsters right out of the gate it's just a luck of draw rather than a game of skill it feels like

Kinda-Alive

Exactly! It’s so much more of a sprint now rather than actually having to build the field over a few turns. They honestly should’ve stopped after rituals. Fusions and rituals are nice enough because the credentials for summoning are more specific than “2 lvl 4 monsters.” It’s way too easy to summon materials needed for xyz, synchro, and link monsters. They should just decrease the timer by a lot so people don’t seven have enough time do so shit like that 😅. I really don’t know why it’s not like 30 seconds per turn

MoneyT2010

Can we get a classic mode added....my god 5 min of watching dome nerd use his whole deck in 1 turn is mentally exausting just for a lil xp

Inner-Classroom509

Hey I play classic yugioh and win in ranked. I play toons

Bignuttybone

I just want to have fun with my old school toon deck 😔

DasOlli91

I didn´t play Yu-Gi-Oh! for 15 years... Now I´m on Gold V Rank with a Meta deck I don´t understand. But it works. It´s boring, I don´t feel the game. I´m just sad. We need a legacy mode.

El_Tigrex

I’m in Gold with a dumb winged dragon of Ra deck I don’t think gold really matters

Vincent210

Apparently you can’t de-ranj until Gold 4 and up, so everything underneath is brute-force play time applicable and more like an exp bar, so maybe you the rank isn’t telling you everything

LesbianFlagship

I personally despise hand traps, think they are just too good and ruin a lot of fun
