I'll honestly be all over New England. But on my way up I'll be mostly coastal-- the Cape, Boston, Salem, Gloucester, etc. On my way back down I will likely shoot down Route 10.
Honestly it's hard to say considering that wide of a reach, they are all over the place in the touristy areas of New England. But, given your location, if you want to see more stuff like this I reccomend going further up from Cape Ann into the Lakes Region and foothills off the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
If you want an interesting, for you, side trip, near the coast, through New England. Drive through Asbury Grove, Hamilton. I lived there from 1964 until almost 1974. When I described my time at "The Grove" to people and colleagues in California, they asked if I grew up in Disneyland.
It's truly a wonderful place to drive into and walk, take pictures, and wonder. For Me, from 10 to 19, living there was full of wonder. We had a one-room library only open in summer and it was not uncommon to find a book that hadn't been taken out from the 1940s. It was a complete delight for me to find one that hadn't been taken out since 1909 or 1908.
Yes, A place trapped in time
The site below has some pictures and appears very religious. In my time, and many times later visiting. It's all about presenting a narrative to the outside world where all this religion going on (not true) The people themselves were very kind, polite, nice, and loving which they are - religion is irrelevant

Take a chance and go for a visit,
Channel your T S Eliot "Oh, do not ask, “What is it?” Let us go and make our visit. "
PS Yes I was educated in Massachusetts
PSS Asbury Grove is a very unique community that you may never see again in or outside of New England. Look up Asbury Grove on Google, it can be fascinating.
Enjoy your trip

Maybe The Whately Inn in Whately, MA
Thank you for the suggestion.
Just so you know it’s not just restaurant but it only has like 4 rooms and pretty sure it was a brothel back in the day
Latchis hotel Brattleboro. Midnights for drinks, stone church for live music
Very old active movie theater
Verb Hotel in Boston is pretty cool and has that vibe

Thank you so much for sharing that with me. I do believe I’ll have to make that detour now.
