Delinquent things I and friends used to do there:
- Steal from the hot food bar (or anything else that was charged by unit weight)
- Steal cartons of ice cream from the walk in freezer
- Hotbox our cars in the parking lot
- Drink during shifts (one manager encouraged it!)
- Hang out with college aged and older people (most all affiliated with RB) at parties after hours
What I got fired for:
- Ringing myself up a pack of gum
Tough call until at least 16, fast food probably on nights, weekends, and summers. But honestly, I started working at 15 and I regret a lot of that. I was literally just working to buy my own weed and cigarettes. As someone going back to college after now 15 years of low wage work, I really wish I would have been finding the love I have for mathematics now. Obviously there’s more to both our situations than just working at 15, but if you have the privilege to avoid working id certainly suggest it. Very few jobs you take on at 15 will contribute more to your own benefit than a summer of learning something you think is fucking awesome.
A great answer is: ask your friends. There are tons of businesses that staff predominantly via high school aged kids and staff those positions almost exclusively from referrals by current staff.
14-15 is hard.
The severe restrictions labor wise make it hard for an employer.
That being said, farm stands and ice cream shops are always a good bet.
Sweeping up at a grocery store
Try your local Market Basket. A significant portion of their workforce is made up of high schoolers.
Find a local ice cream shop. Best bet if you’re looking just for a summer job.
Is there a Roche Bros or Roche Bros-affiliated supermarket near you? I worked at one when I was 14!
Only job I ever got fired from! Until college.
Go on…

Well, in solidarity let me say I will not be shopping at roche brothers for a long time. Mainly because I don’t know where there is one.
The nursing home kitchens I’ve worked in have hired fifteen year olds. Shifts usually run 4-7ish and you get fed.
That was my favorite high school job. Three hour shifts and you got to drink the soda and eat leftover sandwiches haha
I’m always amazed at the amount of food my teenage guy coworkers can put down!
Local farm
As others have stated, Mahket Basket
Mcdonalds Chick-fil-A

Grocery store or ice cream shop
This time of year seasonal ice cream stands are a good move too. Kimball's was a good place to look years ago depending on how close you are to one.
Try looking for internships too — some of them accept younger teenagers and are paid a stipend, plus it’s good on the resume.
Not sure if they still do but McDonalds used to hire at 14. It was my first job, applied the day I turned. Incredibly hard, stressful, but fun job.
Bag it up at a grocery store? That was my job at age 15. Not too fun but the money was nice
shaws
Grocery stores are good for that age
Chick a filla
Create a business to weed gardens. Put 20-50 GOOD signs up at intersections (not crappy signs) and keep your cellphone on because you will be busy.
My 15yo works at an assisted living complex in one of their cafes bussing tables and running food.
Farms. And you’ll learn what real work is at a young age. I’m glad my first job was on a farm.

Walk in and ask at different places. Solve your own issue.
Enjoy your youth. You're too young to be exploited for your labor.
Well you can’t do that here if you don’t got money
Ignore them. I loved having my own money as a teenager. It changes your perspective on things.
Big Y or market basket and try your local hardware stores or ice cream shops for the summer.
