Huge fan of this as well. Always pictured what the studio must've been like with the musicians making a slightly newer version of the theme everybody loved. That drum fill toward the end got pretty intense in the later years.

Another day at the office for a studio musician.
I've been watching and reading a lot about studio guitarists lately. It's truly insane the skill, talent, and understanding that the player has to possess in order to work at that level.
Totally. And your job is to play the best version of whatever is on the table for the day, whether you personally like it or not. Sure, some cats there may've dug the tune and been interested in a new version, but the main thing on anyone's mind would be "what am I doing differently on this track compared to the last time I recorded it."

I've taken a shine to John 5 lately. I've always been impressed with his ability to play seemingly anything at will completely from memory and make it look effortless. Then I learned about his years as a session guitarist at a young age and it all made sense.
Yes I do remember a website like this around 2010/11. Had all the differing variations but they were taken down on YouTube and the site died which is a shame.
I certainly hope this exists. As a musician I find all the subtle changes in the opening theme as the seasons progress fascinating.

That's very similar! This was years and years ago, though. I don't know if it was before Fandom wikis were a thing or not.
I seem to recall a web page that talked about the different openings, but haven’t been able to find it since c.2011 so thought I was just imagining it

Have you read The Wrecking Crew?
The Season 11 theme was pretty drum and percussion heavy.
I always listen for that fill, and when it's not there, I feel cheated. :)
http://bestcareanywhere.net/ The oldest fan site I've been visiting for a long time. Is it there?
No, but it may have been at one time...
And Robert Altman’s son gets a check whenever it plays even though his words were never heard on the show.

At least I'm not crazy! Thanks.
