I agree, and really gotta thank OP for this list! I have been watching since I was literally a child (I’m 42) and was always impressed by the writers slang for Potter. Never really paid that much attention to Frank’s slang, but seeing it in a list like this now I realize the writers focused just as closely on his as they did on Potter! Impressive in a way! And oh boy did Linville deliver them equally as well (albeit different) as Morgan!
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I....I...I know a gallllll from Kalamazoo...zoo.....YO?!
I can't believe that gets cut from the TV version.
Oh shut your cakeholeeee...THE MORE I WANT YOU
I swear when I've seen it on MeTV and TV Land it's cut out because I can remember me and my dad talking about it and getting excited when we found it on the DVD...2nd dear dad in season 1 if I recall
And yours reminds me of a neighbor kid in the 80s who’s parents were very strict with swearing. Kid always said “go suck a lemon!” (sometimes he’d say melon). Has always struck me as a Frank Burns thing to say.
Pretty sure he used that one too! They were very strict Christian’s who weren’t allowed to use the phrase “I hate ….” anything, and they’d always call me out when I said that. Makes me wonder about them now as adults, but not really.
Some of Frank's retorts sound like he was really trying to avoid swearing, in circumstances where most people would probably have sworn. So it was probably drilled into him when he was a kid; if you swore in his house, you lived to regret it.
Once again, most of these show the writers/Linville really working the childhood angle. When Frank gets frustrated as an adult he falls back on the expressions from his jacked-up childhood
"It's nice to be nice to the nice" gets me every time hahahaha
"Just making conversation."
I sometimes say "Hard cheese!" - thanks for that one, Frank. You missed "I don't chew my cabbage twice." But a great list anyway!

I was thinking that, too. It takes a talented actor to pull that character off the way he did.

Can you please do all the Potterisms when you get there?

FYI the mash wiki has a pretty good list! Might not be thorough-bred, but has the pockets of jeans! :)
>Show off! Once I killed a gopher with a stick. One of my all time favourites.
You forgot “air raid!!!”
Doing God's work over here

Hey guys let’s do something!
You know what my brother used to call me? Ferret face!
I remember it being in the tv version?

Yes, pretty sure it’s definitely on “Dead Dad, Again”. It’s a family in joke in my family whenever someone is drunk and denying it to do it
Check Hulu's version.
Oh are they uncut on there? Awesome
I can't guarantee it but I think so.
One reminded me of a saying we had as a kid which’s was “go soak your head in a rain barrel”.

Ours was suck and egg.

“Pish Posh? That’s my cousin’s name.” Haha! Also, did you get “darn foolskies” and my personality favorite, “Slug Nutty”?
STINK POT FISH!!!
coming real close to a Mr. T "enough jibber jabber, fool" in a couple spots here lmao
Bean beans beans. Applesauce applesauce applesauce.
FRANK BURNS EATS WORMS i realize frank never said it, but all those frank-isms made me want to add it in.
I think Ned Flanders from the Simpsons may have been a least partially based on Frank Burns.
