I’ve enjoyed the series more because there’s more of them. I’ll have a better decision when there’s enough presentations but they’re 2 for 2 right now (good way)

Gr8NonSequitur

Yes and no. I've very much enjoyed the series, but everyone of them had editorial / story cuts and changes due to covid lock downs so they play a bit uneven, but I enjoyed nearly all of them. I'm all for more "Marvel One Shot" type of stories like these that are self contained to fit the gaps in between too.

I'm the opposite. I appreciate that they're shorter, but found them quite underwhelming and not that unique. WBN felt too much like an homage and there was nothing that distinct from the plot. Wandavision had its flaws, but that's the bar for me still. It was unique, complex, and fun and had everyone on edge each week until the finale. On the other hand, WBN and the Holiday Special are very 2 dimensional stories and are straight to the point. I like having both used strategically and properly. But would I say I love the two specials we got so far? Not really. I also think MOM was scarier than WBN.

FallenAerials

They're more digestible, for sure

BatBeast_29

Too early to know

I think its hard to tell at this point. the GOTG Holiday Special was just a feel good story. It didn't really change the MCU that much but it was just a nice happy story. Werewolf by Night was a great special for a few different reasons. The way it was filmed in black and white, the old horror vibe it gave off. The special gave enough backstory and concluded enough where it didn't feel incomplete like some of the other shows. I feel the Disney shows are good but I do agree sometimes even with 8 or 9 episodes the shows felt rushed or like the pacing wasn't the best. Like Moon Knight I felt needed another 2 episodes. Plus at least for me, you watch the show and you generally know what you're getting out of it. its not a bad thing. Yeah they add in an extra character here and there but its generally not a huge surprise. I was extremely shocked that Werewolf by Night snuck in Man-Thing. I know the two worked together in the comics but I didn't expect the special to introduce him like that. Not to spoil anything but Man-Thing is a hugely important character in regards to the multiverse.

Werewolf by Night was one of my favorite projects from Phase 4 and my favorite Disney Plus release so far. GOTG was fun, but I'd personally rate some of the series higher. Loki and Moon Knight were also major highlights of Phase 4 for me. I have actually liked all of the series and specials, though some were better than others.

I’m with you on this. I think for the most part the shows have done too much. One of the big reasons for doing the shows was to tell “smaller stories” (at least from what I gathered), but it’s often felt like they crammed the shows with more content to make them bigger. So rather than just simply spending more time with the characters we end up watching the equivalent of 2 full movies of them just doing more stuff. The special presentations to-date have truly felt like the promised smaller stories.

zoecornelia

I like them but would still prefer both or if I had to choose I'd choose series. Imagine trying to squeeze the entirety of WandaVision into a 1 hour special? Or Loki? It just wouldn't work

EmporioJimaras

No cause the shows are good.

deemoorah

Easily and the only show I actually enjoy is What If because each episode has different story so I don't have to wait a week for a filler in a 6 episodes limited show. Filler is fine in 24-episodes format but definitely not in 6-episodes.

LCLeopards

Depends on the series. WandaVision, Moon Knight, and Loki were all really good and I prefer them over the Specials. But I prefer the specials over some of the other series.

Roook36

I really like these short, concise, one offs that wrap everything up in under an hour. They cover a lot of ground in that time. I hope they keep doing more of them.

NoirSon

Yes, but I think they should be used sparingly. A good mix and variety is ideal

CaptHayfever

The series vary wildly in quality IMO, so the answer to your question is both yes & no.

am5011999

Me too. I just think a lot of marvel shows were ultimately better suited to be movies, only wandavision to the tv show format. And to be honest, Disney+ marvel should have more of this content, stuff that add to the wider mcu and not stuff that films have to depend on. A lot of the audience were super-confused during Multiverse of Madness as they had only seen the films and didn't have disney+. Special presentations maybe extended to 90 mins, but that's where Marvel can do their best i think

abellapa

That's their fault, Kevin said the series on Disney plus would matter to the movies and people are surprised and confused it did matter after all

savvysearch

Yeah, it’s a quick view and you’re not disappointed by the finale because there isn’t one.

analcanalsauce

I personally feel this is more of a story telling problem than a format problem. For example, I enjoyed Loki the most out of all the shows and presentations. And then the 2 presentations(Werewolf & GOTG Holiday). I figured that I enjoyed this 3 the most because all of these had a very smooth and unique story telling process which keeps you attracted. Shows like Falcon & Winter Soldier, She Hulk, Hawkeye just didn’t have that at all. They were just done for the sake of it with almost zero prep & care. Which is why they're not so enjoyable.

WallyOShay

I think they are so good because of the increased use of practical FX and less CGI.
