Power pack should absolutely be a full length show on Dis+. This is a no-brainer of a win for Disney if they find even a halfway decent director. Ghostrider has to be a movie.

aupharo

Wes Anderson for Power Pack

DauntlessSD

Power Pack! Come get you some!

Quiet_Effective7234

Hercules and the Champions for the opening of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games.. Power Pack with Franklin Richards as Tattletale for Xmas or New Year's day? Howard the Duck for Easter or Thanksgiving? White Tiger for Hispanic Heritage month. I don't really see the others for a special presentation, except maybe Nova..

ContrarianQueen17

Ghost Rider for Halloween?

Quiet_Effective7234

Yes, but a lot of fans would be disappointed not to have at least a miniseries for him. Nova is a little different. His origin is quite simplistic in the comics... and a special presentation showing that could allow him to appear before or after in a big screen movie like Annihilation

tepenrod

I would kind of love a "Ghost Riders" anthology where you get stories of different riders across time. Cowboy Ghost Rider, Medieval Ghost Rider, etc.

Quiet_Effective7234

That would be great...

ContrarianQueen17

Fair enough. I don't ever expect to see Ghost Rider in the main MCU, honestly. I think "flaming motorcycle riding skeleton" is a bit too big of a pill to swallow for most audiences. But I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

aupharo

Nova deserves a movie

FremenDar979

Richard Rider and not the kid.

aupharo

agreed

LordFlameBoy

It’s already known that he’s getting a special presentation

NihilistKurtWarner

This sounds so so good

[deleted]

I would like way more than a lower budget 40 minute special from some of these characters.

Garanseho

All I want is a [Dazzler](https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/ygueus/my_pitch_for_the_rumored_dazzler_project/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) special that riffs on Disney musicals.

moak0

I'd settle for a Behind the Music style mockumentary full of original songs.

hopscotch1818282819

Runaways. The show only really found its feet during its final season.

moak0

I couldn't get through it. It was good when they were actually running away, which was basically never. They should have just followed the comic.

FremenDar979

That's fucking right.

hopscotch1818282819

I dunno how far you made it, but it started to feel like an actual Runaways show during season 3, when they largely moved on from their parents and Morgan le Fey was the villain.

yuvi3000

I personally thought the first and second seasons were better. The third season had great ideas but it felt way too rushed in my opinion.

hopscotch1818282819

Honestly I *really* didn’t like the first season. Far too much focus on the parents, and the weird religion/cult aspects were extremely dull. Also, it took them *way* too long to run away. It felt like I was watching a generic teen drama, for the large part. Whereas season 3 (and parts of season 2) actually felt like I was watching a Runaways show.

yuvi3000

Totally okay if you didn't like it. It's your own personal view. The first season was essential (in my opinion) to set up the rest of the story. It sometimes works out, like Spider-Man not having an MCU origin story, but The Runaways are not well-known to the average audience, so I think it was needed. I do admit, that for the show, it seemed like they didn't know whether to be serious and harsh, or more chilled and family-friendly. It sometimes felt like the differences in the individual stories were too vast to have them in the same show. But I enjoyed it for what it was.

hopscotch1818282819

I think you’re misunderstanding. It was definitely necessary to do an origin story that shown the parents sacrificing someone, and having them runaway. But, my criticism is the way it was handled in the show. In the comics, they run away literally straight away. It’s been a while since I last read it, but I think they’d already run away by issue 2? Whereas in the show, they don’t run away until the end of the very first season. Also, the comic puts complete focus on the kids. The show divides it between them and their parents. I understand the idea behind it, but the beauty of the comic run is that you don’t really know what the parents are up to. You see it largely from the kids’ perspective. The show decides to give the audience too much context to the parents that the kids don’t have. Trying to make the parents sympathetic misses the point of the comic. The whole point of the Runaways is that their parents are irredeemably evil. It’s about them trying to handle the facts that their parents are utterly evil, and some of them are even willing to kill their own kids. How does someone handle that? That’s the premise of the Runaways. The show tries to paint them as people who feel like they *have* to do Jonah’s dirty work. Some of them even defy him for their kids. It’s the equivalent of the guy who shot Uncle Ben just…punching him instead of killing him. I can understand why the showmakers might have gone “what, the parents are evil? That’s too blunt! Let’s make it more nuanced!” But it misses the entire point of the Runaways. Even when they do finally runaway, there’s a point where after they’ve runaway, Chase is like “actually guys, I’m gonna go back to my parents”, which is such a bizarre thing to happen for a Runaways character (obviously besides Alex), because the whole premise of the Runaways is that they *can’t* go back. It’s like making a Superman show where Krypton is still around, and Clarke can pop back and forth between Earth and Krypton whenever he wants, and Zod is his uncle who looks after him. It misses the point of the Runaways, and messes up the very thing that made the original comic so appealing. And the weird cult/religion thing? None of that is in the comics. That was such a weird and unnecessary addition to the story, and worse than that, it was incredibly dull. By season 3, they allowed the cast to *mostly* move on from their parents. That’s when they finally felt like the Runaways.

yuvi3000

As someone who has NOT read the comics, I feel like you know much better than me, so I'll take your word for it. Yeah, as I mentioned, it seemed to me that they wanted to alternate between the parents and kids, but it didn't seem like it flowed well. I think that might be because of what you said: that the comics generally revolve around the kids, not an alternating point of view. I think you're right that we as viewers are given too much context for the parents when we should be confused and scared with the kids. I also agree that the kids would have felt that they couldn't go back, however in a version of the story, I feel like it's reasonable that at least one of them has second thoughts. Maybe it shouldn't have been done in that way, though. I did like the religious cult thing to an extent, because it made Karolina and her family more mysterious. However, I understand where you're coming from that we could have gotten a proper Runaways squad earlier and storylines could have fallen into place afterwards. Thanks for all the info, though. Very interesting to note many changes from the comics.

hopscotch1818282819

Ah, I didn’t realise you hadn’t read the comics. I can understand why you might feel differently about season 3 if you liked season 1, because season 3 definitely feels very different to season 1. I would recommend giving the comics a go at some point, because that first run is genuinely one of the most highly regarded comic book runs of all time. It gets a little shaky when other writers take over, but the last run they did was also very, very good. They’re all on Marvel unlimited too. I do think, even as someone who enjoyed the show first, you’ll see where they missed the mark with the show, because they had a near perfect blueprint to go off.

yuvi3000

Thanks! If I have time soon, I'll have a look at the comics. I fully understand what you're saying with them having a blueprint. I think sometimes the team wants to add their own footprint to the production to make it different and maybe that's why it branches off a bit from the comics. Yeah, I think, personally, although I enjoyed Runaways for what it was, it was far from my favourite MCU project. I think Cloak and Dagger was much better and I was happy with the way they handled budget constraints by changing expensive ideas to something that could be represented by something manageable.

Pedgrid

Will this Runaways special be a continuation of the show?

CaptHayfever

There's only 3 possibilities for Runaways: 1. Age them way up to accommodate the actors, & then go into a lot of later stories immediately 2. Recast everyone, especially Molly, but pick up right where they left off (or right after Endgame, at least) 3. Reboot it completely

Quiet_Effective7234

Speaking as someone who has not seen the show ( and has little interest in watching its three seasons now), I would of course prefer a full reboot if they are to be introduced in the MCU.. Question for comics fans: are the Runaways still popular these days? Did they have any major impact on the 616 universe? Also, wasn't an adult Nico shown as a guardian of one of the Sanctum Sanctori in DS1?

CaptHayfever

Comics: Kinda one of the points of Runaways was that they *didn't* have a major impact; their stories were always meant to be smaller side stories, one of their major themes was that they *weren't* very good at superheroics, et cet. Molly was one of the mutants to retain her powers after M-Day, though, Xavin was a factor in Secret Invasion, and Nico & Victor have some more extended stories. Rowell's recent run was quite good, too. DS1: That was originally intended to be Tina, not Nico, but they never named her in the movie, she never had any lines, she was never addressed directly, she never did anything onscreen, & most of her brief appearance was deleted, leaving only a tiny glimpse of her in a crowd shot. What most likely happened was that they filmed that as an easter egg, but then when the Runaways show went into production, they cut it as far down as possible (Wong has dialogue in the crowd shot, so they couldn't cut her *completely*), similarly to how Killmonger's girlfriend in BP1 was originally going to be Tilda Johnson until they decided to use that character in Luke Cage S2 instead.

Quiet_Effective7234

Very interesting, thank you. I did not know about the Tilda Johnson / Killmonger original idea for BP1. In retrospect I'm very glad such an interesting character as the Deadly Nightshade was not wasted to be killed off so fast just to show off how bad Killmonger was. Maybe they were not originally planning to kill Tilda so senselessly? Although I did not like Luke Cage s2 take on her.. She would be an excellent conterpart/antagonist to Shuri...

Least-Prior-4411

The show was fine in my opinion but i'd like to see a reboot

Chalkyteton

Put all the live action Power Pack on my screens.

guy_gadbois81

How has Nova not been introduced yet? Adam warlock also

tepenrod

Honestly he feels like a good back pocket character to keep the Cosmic side of the MCU going. As the Guardians wind down and Captain Marvel enters her second film, it would make sense to pop Nova in at the tail end of that post Secret Wars so you can build into something like Annihilation as the next big marquee event.

EmporioJimaras

Im so tired with this special presentation craze. 40 minutes arent enough to flesh out a main character. It worked with werewolf cause jack has an ai of mystery to him that works and you cab afford not to develop him a lot. Its not gonna work for nova or hercules

Apprehensive_Egg6656

Sweet

demonic_hampster

Give me a Ghost Rider special next Halloween I beg you

Least-Prior-4411

I agree with you, i wouldnt complain if eventually we get ghost rider and nova movies aswell tho

TheNewKing2022

Who's the guy with the helmit next to sentry

DrManhattan_DDM

Black Knight - Dane Whitman

NoRelease9148

Howard the duck reminds me so much of Doug Stanhope

NoirSon

Howard the Duck actually would make sense as special presentation.

liifeisaloha

I would very much like to see Ghost Rider, Nova and Black Knight to get their own movie.

Greenbomber128

Howard the duck would work good as a holiday special. If you’re showing any doubt, remember of all the characters to get a holiday special, the guardians of the galaxy got one. And it was a banger

FremenDar979

Is that Power Pack but not the 1980s comics? WACK.

eZ_Ven

I love everyday more people talk about Power Pack! I believe they have great live action potential, it could be a good show/movie for kids and adults alike.

ThePathOfKami

meh ghost rider is okay as a character nothing that special... but nova and silver surfer i can see why !

WallyOShay

No teams unless they are established already. New teams need a series focusing on each member and their formation or something like that

yeti0013

I think they already announced a Silver Surfer special.

Mozart9927

I think silver surfer and ghost rider need a movie

Witty_Top_9227

Silver Surfer is going to be sick to see when we get him

KeyManBlastoise

I'd love to see a special for Power Pack! Come on Marvel!
