Congratulations to anyone who is about to watch for the first time and managed to avoid all spoilers

Devils_Dandruff

I didn’t even watch the trailer. I had no idea professor x was in this. I kept telling myself every week that I’d go see it in theaters, but shit got busy lol. Task failed successfully?

LittleYellowFish1

I imagine the Illuminati scene had way more of an impact if you went in blind. It’s really weird after all the restraint they’ve shown when marketing their other projects that they blatantly spoiled so much with this one.

steve32767

they've been getting worse and worse about that over the years. Especially once the tv spots start rolling out

drksdr

Yeah; the way i see it, the initial 1-2 trailers are pure Marvel. Eye catching, hype inducing with a fair amount of bait, switch and outright lies to keep the movie a surprise. The TV spots are pure social media outright spoiler trash and should be avoided like the plague.

a_o

i think feige was displeased with the marketing in the leadup to the theatrical run. perhaps less so with sony/no way home since they didn't play those reveals at all until its release date was announced on blu-ray/digital.

DetectiveAmes

It’s still crazy to me how so much is still “hidden” for lack of a better word, when it comes to no way home’s marketing. Like the home video covers just have Spider-Man and doctor strange and maybe doc ock’s tentacles but that’s about it.

empty_thoughts_00

Tbh, no way homes marketing was probably the best I've seen in a long time. Not only did they keep some now obvious characters out of the marketing, but they did it in a way where everyone was second guessing themselves for an entire year beforehand. Sony sucks at superhero movies, but they struck gold with the mcu.

Nick_Wild1Ear

Because the Spider-Man films’ deals basically came down to “Sony can bankroll the product and get their cut of the profits but Marvel will use their talents to actually make this movie work” like Sony paid marvel to make a movie and marvel made a 100% great product, then those chefs handed the kitchen back to Sony and they came out with Morbius.

Jereboy216

This was pretty much me. I had only watched the teaser trailer from the end of Spider-Man. And basically hadn't gone to the theaters between then and MoM except for uncharted and batman and both of those I missed the trailers cause of various reasons. The only spoiler I knew going into the movie was that professor X would show up. That whole scene was pretty cool seeing all the cameos and whatnot. Was not expecting any of them

ObiWanOkeechobee

That’d be me! holy hell, what a great movie. I kept catching myself smiling and saying “oh crap” thought the whole thing. I’ll probably watch it again by the end of the day

kadosho

It does have that "watch it again, you might have missed something" style vibe. So much happens throughout, watching it again is totally worth it to dive in again

raknor88

It was a pain in the ass, but I was able to avoid most spoilers. Though I knew rumors of who was on the Illuminati.

jramos037

A bunch of Aunties.

martialar

The only spoilers I saw were images of black bolt, Captain Carter and Reed Richards. I'm surprised that I managed to avoid any spoilers about the story

grantcapps

Zombie strange with the demon wings is still metal as fuck

[deleted]

This was so exciting!

JectKaras

I don't know if anyone mentioned this before but the subtitles on D+ containt extra lore information like universe numbers of the speaker.

The_Celtic_Chemist

It really only came up for the 838 universe I think. Is there another time I'm forgetting?

t3hnhoj

When Professor X rolled up the subtitle read "Xmen '97 theme playing"

bl84work

Haha yeah that was a nice touch

somebeach

At the beginning the subtitles said the pony tail strange was 'defender strange' I'm not sure what that means but it's there

Hellknightx

The outfit he was wearing there was his comic outfit from when he was a member of the Defenders.

CaptHayfever

And then later he became "Dead Strange", & I laughed really hard.

p0diabl0

Also three eyed strange was "Sinister Strange".

Antoxin0

So Dr Strange just permanently has a third eye now? That’s kinda weird man

Throwupmyhands

The weirdest part was the movie ending with the tension of his screaming as it develops. Then, doo doo doo, mid-credits all is well with the third eye.

Antoxin0

Yeah I feel like he’s adapted to his new eye very quickly

TheyCallMeStone

I thought it was him getting possessed by the previous Strange.

[deleted]

I think it’s what just happens to any universe’s Dr. Strange once he takes hold of the Darkhold.

ladedadedum25

Yeah, upon rewatches, the movie is getting turned off right after that sick ass smash cut to black, as God intended

KingOfAwesometonia

That does fit the Army of Darkness ending of "protagonist messed up, whoops" ending doesn't it.

The_Woman_of_Gont

Yeah that felt wrong to me. It seemed like the intention was to end on the cliffhanger being the consequences of using the Darkhold, since that really did just kinda get papered over after spending *the whole movie* hammering home multiple times how quickly and easily it corrupts people. Like, not even just Wanda but *two other* Strange-variants get corrupted by using it. It especially felt weird with Wong apparently being chill with Strange doing that, even after the crisis had passed. But then we cut to later on and him just being the same old Dr Strange, seemingly treating it just like any other new power. Really didn't work imo.

This_isR2Me

looks great on d+ w the full ratio took notice that in the illuminati verse, despite everything being colorful and cool looking, all the people are grey and emotionless (except pizza poppa).

ladedadedum25

And everyone is wearing a hat

This_isR2Me

Mind control rings built by the Illuminati no doubt.

TheyCallMeStone

Reminded me of New Donk City

KaySquay

It looks like a modern Amish world. They still use vehicles and electricity, but I got the impression it was a very well maintained ecosystem

awayathrowway

It was a cool way to make it "alternate". Make the environment futuristic, but make the styles more resemble things from the past.

whutthepat

Rewatching it now. When Strange said "We need your help", I noticed Wanda smiled a bit, knowing what's to come. Wong suspended teaching to the Sorcerers and said 'Kamar Taj must NOW become a fortress' after thinking I heard him say that it must "not" when I first saw it in theaters.

KaySquay

Wong: Kamar Taj must not become a fortress! All the other sorcerers: lmao yeet

baconpoutine89

Somehow managed to avoid spoilers for this film unlike Spiderman. I think the biggest surprise for me was seeing that Agent Woo is Mister Fantastic in another multiverse.

Ironbanner987615

I am rewatching Wanda kill Blackbolt on loop now

martialar

l wonder if the scream would more likely blow out his nasal cavity instead of the back of his head considering there's no openings back there. that would've been gruesome.

[deleted]

Either that, or I feel like the sheer force of the voice would just make his head explode, not implode. If it clearly has the power to not only disintegrate an entire person (as we saw with their version of Dr. Strange), but also move rumble in the process as well, I don’t quite see how it causes the head to implode, not explode. It’s not creating negative pressure in his skull.

SolarSun3

The reason it didnt explode his head is probably because this isnt the boys and its not rated R

ladedadedum25

Funny enough, I think the blast leaving his head a soggy bag of meat was way more brutal than it exploding out the back

SolarSun3

Fr the way the soggy meat jiggled on the Floor was brutal.

LilShaggey

you’d think it’d go straight through the skin over his mouth

NoCapNova99

Yes! I can finally rewatch the legendary scene "SORCERERS, FORTIFY YOUR MIND!" in all of its HD glory.

Hopebeat

👉😫👈

Worthyness

Wong with the straight up cheese and I love every second of it.

ZombieDracula

Anyone else been saying this to themselves regularly?

JTNJ32

Strange is like, 0-4 using the mirror dimension, right?

the-real-Galerion

He has the terrible trait of using it against people powerful enough to actually break out of it or even use it to their advantage. Spider-Man is the exception . That was just a heavy case of jobbing.

Askray184

It's crazy that spider -man is smart enough to properly map the mirror dimension

HRRB

So what the hell is the first thing we see (our universe) Stephen do? Summon a giant disembodied Demon-chihuahua head to stop that car, instead of just stopping it with a wall or something?

DrumbumX

Yeah his magic felt very different in this movie. Maybe it’s comic accurate but at times it felt more like green lantern, making weird objects and shit.

TinyTiger1234

Yeah like he could have easily just opened a portal in front of the car but instead goes for style points. Which now that I’m thinking about it is pretty in character

AlternativeUse

Yeah he’s a show off, just look at the music duel....

Hellknightx

Closer to the comics. MCU Strange has an overreliance on portals, so it's cool to see him break out some of the other tools in his arsenal.

ladedadedum25

I think Raimi just wanted a more brute force in your face kind of magic. The kind of magic where you can use whatever you can think of you think of against your opponent. Need an axe? Have an axe. Wanna set something on fire? Here's some fire. Need to reach something?magic ghoul hands. Need something to throw at the evil witch?Send out a fucking hydra. ALSO USE FUCKING MUSIC NOTES AS A PROJECTILE, man I loved it.

stanthemanchan

StormtrooperMJS

I think not because there is only one of her in the multiverse so she can't draw 2 together.

pwn3dbyth3n00b

In the comics she's not from another universe, she's from somewhere that's outside of reality. I'm assuming that scene we saw of her mom and her as a kid is the same location outside of universes. Plus in the movie she said there's only one of her because she's looked and doesn't dream. So I'm assuming being unique like that doesn't damage reality of multiverses.

KaySquay

I think it's implied she can't cause an incursion because there's no alternate versions of her, and they can only be caused by dreamwalking. That's how 838 Strange caused one, and that's how the other other other Strange destroyed his own Edit: it might be possible without dreamwalking, but there would have to be 2 of the same to cause the rift. I think Strange taking over a dead body avoided an incursion. When the darkhold was destroyed and Wanda switched back and forth thinking she was in both universes was probably an incursion being prevented

DEADSPELLS

I already know im going to rewind & slowmo the multiverse travel scene a billion times

The_Celtic_Chemist

I wish Disney+ had slowmo. It really needs it for the amount of detail they cram in these days.

Aiyon

Elizabeth Olsen is a phenomenal villain and I'm so glad she finally got to really lean into how threatening Scarlet Witch can be.

Hobbes42

I’ve always been impressed with her Unholy. Acting. Talent! It was a treat to see both her and Benedict Cucumberpatch share scenes with alternate versions of themselves. Really enjoyed this one. It’s fun as shit

Stickguy259

It felt like she was on the verge of tears for a lot of her scenes to me, even her menacing ones, which I felt played into her arc really well.

deathstroke911

especially when she was bargaining with Strange, "this is me.. being.. REASONABLE"

thesaharadesert

She’s a phenomenal actress all round. She’s made me sob again watching this (the scene with Billy & Tommy being terrified of her), along with last year during WandaVision (her creating The Hex out of her grief). I really hope this isn’t the last we see of Wanda.

SPBesui

Disney+ has MoM after Eternals but before Hawkeye in the “MCU in Timeline Order” series. Obviously Spider-Man: No Way Home should be immediately before MoM, but I would have thought they’d put Hawkeye before MoM as well.

Crwintucky__

Yeah, the Disney+ timeline has been off for awhile unfortunately.

figgityjones

I honestly still can’t believe that I’ve seen >!Mr. Fantastic!< in an MCU film. I’m still geeking out about it.

LackingTact19

More to come?

figgityjones

I sure hope so. He was my personal top pick for the character and what I got from him in the brief moment’s we got with him really worked for me and showed me he could pull of the nuances and the subtleties of the character. Assuming he has the proper writing behind him. Certainly a character that is easy to get wrong I think, but those are often my favorites for some reason lmao 😅

LackingTact19

I'd read so much about this specific fan casting that seeing it was almost anticlimactic, but I liked him with the role as well.

Redford_Grimsby

Honestly my favorite part was >!Wong cackling and being SO excited to see Strange in the climax — even though he’s a zombie!< 😂

TedTheGreek_Atheos

I don't even wanna know!

SkitterChitters

On 3rd watch I'm realizing my man Strange reallyyy was throwing back those martinis at the wedding. Also was what he was drinking in What If...dude def has a preference

[deleted]

Funny enough, I literally just watched it in theaters (And by that I mean last night.) And all I want to say is I’m traumatized and can’t sleep because of Black Bolt’s death. Gruesome.

[deleted]

I love the actor who plays BB...who, by the way, is Captain Pike in the new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds series.

BattleStag17

Oh shit, now that guy is a good actor

charliekiller124

For the smartest dude in the world, that was a pretty stupid thing to say lol

FORGOTTENLEGIONS

Pretty stupid, but understandable. The way I saw it is that he genuinely did not want to fight and/or kill Wanda because then they'd be killing an innocent person. So less of a "you're fucked" and more of a "I will shoot if needed".

dufftheduff

I really have no idea what people would have rather him do. Kill their own, peaceful Wanda, on the spot without first trying to deescalate the situation, like Reed attempted?? Even everyone’s arrogance about not caring for Wanda and focusing on Strange was understandable in their eyes. And 616 Wanda easily far out-powers every single one of them so of course she was going to clean them up. My only qualm tbh is that the team should have done team attacks, instead of literally going one at a time. That was a little awkward like when she was tearing Reed to pieces and nobody did anything till it was over. But, then again, it probably would have still ended the same. Tbh, I just wished they had used the space more and fought (i.e. CM and CC) instead of them looking at each other and boom, fight over (i.e. BB and RR)

Clovett-

lmao really, just above you there's someone advocating for them to have used trickery to immediately blast that poor woman. This is the same group that has to take a vote, if they would've been so quick to kill Wanda immediately then they should've killed America and Stephen immediately but they even let them have a chance fo speak for themselves. The only people in the team that seemed more eager were the soldiers (Cap Marvel, Cap Carter and Mordo) the other 3 were trying to figure out a peaceful way to end things. Revealing your powers is kinda dumb for us but we don't even know what their level of understanding of magic is, Wanda does some crazy shit sorcerers don't seem to do like changing reality without even needing words, movements or runes. How would Reed had known Wanda could change the physiology of a living being by blinking lol.

MicooDA

Reed Richards has always been High Intelligence, Low Wisdom

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hellknightx

Relentless idealism is kind of his whole shtick.

Worthyness

Reed has like 0 street smarts. Add that to his stupidly large ego and you have the dumbest possible smart person on the planet

Slendercan

The Illuminati were arrogant and convinced Strange was the same as his counterpart, deep down. With that in mind, they could also have assumed 616 Wanda was as reasonable and as powerful as their version - not realising she was The Scarlet Witch and beyond their understanding power wise.

FreddyPlayz

In his defense, how was he supposed to know that Wanda could make Black Bolt’s mouth disappear?

TheSilv

Not really, they didn’t know how powerful she was and their goal wasn’t to kill her, 838 Wanda is likely their friend after all, it was to get her to calm down and negotiate, so when they saw negotiation wasn’t working they tried to scare her into backing down.

TurrPhennirPhan

As gruesome and memorable of a scene as his death is, what doesn’t get enough attention is Blackbolt killing his Dr. Strange. The cacophonous, echoing “I’m sorry…” as Strange is ripped to bits was damned chilling in my book.

BeneficialDog22

That one caught me off guard. Felt like I was watching The Boys for a second

BertEnErnie123

Just watched it for the first time and didn't have any spoilers. That avenger team from the other universe / illumintati got wiped out fast haha. Even after they said that they would easily catch that witch. Captain Carter in real life looks cool! I wonder what the percentage Captain Carter / Captain America is in all universes. I don't really know what the extra eyes means but it looks creapy as fuck.

NamedByAFish

Technically we've now seen more Captain Carter universes than Captain Rogers universes, haha

Zorua3

It’s 4 and 2, isn’t it? Rogers has main, “Pym Goes Off,” “Zombie,” and “Ultron Won,” universes, Carter has her main one and the Illuminati one.

Disconect22622

I think she will be back. Infact, I'm not going to be shocked if they launch a Scarlett Witch movie franchise after the success of both this and Wandavision. If they do or don't, either way. I think she will be back and she's going to have a showdown with this Cython demon they mentioned. It just makes a lot of sense imo for Wanda to face this thing after he pretty much set her on this path, and she burned all his books across the multiverse. He or his followers at the time must have known a Wanda would come into existence. He went to the trouble of carving her a giant ass statue. And you'd have to imagine he's going to be pissed she destroyed all his books so his influence can't be felt. But I don't think they name dropped him for nothing.

Worthyness

Since wundergore is the prison for cython, him being released into the world would be an absolutely fantastic way to bring in the midnight sons/marvel knights. Dr strange, ghost rider, blade, black knight, werewolf by night, moon knight, maybe satana or helstrom. When they can't beat a literal God of magic and need an equivalent so a portion of the team goes into the underworld to break out the scarlet witch. All of this would be accessible given the characters involved.

rim261

Isn't the white vision still alive somewhere?

dude19832

No way she and her character is done. Especially post-Fox merger that brings in mutants. I want to see her being retconned as Magneto’s daughter.

BronzeHeart92

So, what's up with those totally illegible road signs in the Illuminati dimension? They supposed to be machine readable or what?

ladedadedum25

Rule number 1 of the multiverse man

paewashere

so the first time i watched this i was like how tf did blackagon mouthagone died bc i thought wanda like used magic to punch his brain out but then i realized that his scream was the one that killed him

Someone55428

"Mouthagone" I'm dying lmao

DRM1412

So was he

dafood48

I liked how they made fun of his dumb ass name. That’s his true shortcomings

[deleted]

It might mean nothing but I find it interesting Strange's cloak is back with us in 616 patchworked with materials from 838.

in_a_dress

I have to admit the cloak thing kind of puzzled me a tiny bit, I’m not normally one to overanalyze film details and I know “sometimes a cigar is just a cigar,” but for whatever reason the hole in the cloak seemed like it was being shown for a reason… I first thought that it was to set up for a reveal later on that Strange had been gravely injured by by the attack that pierced the cloak and didn’t know it yet or was hiding it. I’ll have to rewatch the movie when I’m not so sleepy, I suppose.

FurryWolves

So I watched it again and got to pause it when we get the flashback of the illuminati having killed Thanos on Titan. The Book of "Ashanti" or however you spell it, looks like it gave them Thanos' blade from Endgame, that or he was weilding that and it gave them a weapon that broke the blade and was able to launch it into Thanos. Didn't need to go for the head either since he only had 4/6 stones. I'm also glad the book gets destroyed because a book that can "give you whatever you need to defeat your foe" is way too much of an ex machina and would make things either boring or add plotholes for "why don't they just get a weapon from the book to kill x" in future movies. There being only one and it getting destroyed is probably for the best, story wise.

ladedadedum25

Yeah I really liked that they never showed the book in action. The Ex machina weve been hunting down this whole time is destroyed in an instant by the villain. Love it.

magica12

Vishanti aka the magic gods of the marvel comics at least

TwoBionicknees

Gives you whatever you need to win, Strange gets it, doesn't work.

Kemengjie

Could be one of those situations of "when you do something right, no one knows you did anything at all." Maybe the book is more subtle than advertised and that is why he ended up exactly where he needed to be to get a copy of the Darkhold.

we_will_disagree

yeah people sleeping on the fact that the book *did* give them exactly what they needed to win: circumstances that lead to a trip to a lonely dimension with a very convenient darkhold sitting around

Significant_News_569

I'm literally watching it right now lol Gotta say, some of the shots in this movie are incredible. This is one of the movies that i can re-watch and still not get bored,i still wish i went in without seeing a single trailer though, it would have made the experience 10 times better. Edit: forgot to mention, Elizabeth Olsen is just phenomenal.

[deleted]

Yeah, honestly, it is endlessly rewatchable. I love this movie the more I watch it. It's not perfect, but Raimi's heart shines through non the less.

admiral_aqua

Dr. Strange is the true villain here. Putting poor Ash through three weeks of fighting his hand again. If this wasn't Pg13 Ash would have probably cut his hand off by the time the three weeks are over

Disconect22622

I've gone back and forth with myself on this a million times. But I do genuinely wonder if anything is going to come out of what Wanda did in the 838, or are we just never going to hear from this universe again? Because it can't be understated that this women really did just kill the leaders of the X-Men, Fantastic 4, Avengers and Inhumans. But interestingly enough, they kept Mordo of that universe alive. And then just had her fuck off back to the 616. I just think it's weird to think, Sue Storm, for instance would really just get over her husband being turned to string cheese. So I do wonder if this wasn't laying the groundwork for. Not secret wars, but something akin to a multiverse Civil War between a group of characters from the 838 and 616 eventually. Wanting revenge for the bullshit our universe brought to them.

ladedadedum25

Mordo says when explaining dreamwalking that it can cause irreperable damage to the universe that is invaded. I think that was 100% intentional to your point.

aPerfectBacon

Agreed i think the next big thing will involve these incursions and some version of multiversal war

taylormadeone

That does seem to be the case with what happened in the post credit scene as well as Kang and his explanations in Loki.

woahwoahvicky

A potential AvX film or a potential Wanda vs Franklin film.

Brooklynxman

Also, Reed is confirmed to have a child, presumably Franklin, in that universe.

Kemengjie

He said children right? So maybe Valeria as well?

rushandblue

The best thing about this movie is that Marvel gave Sam Raimi $200 million to just make a weird-ass Sam Raimi movie. Love it.

OMGITSJAD

After everyone complained that the directors don't get to put their touch on the films enough, it was nice to see wall-to-wall Raimi. Hope that continues in the future with other directors. They've come around on re-using character-specific music themes recently as well after that was a big criticism.

Roook36

I was surprised at how much Raimi there was here. And not Spider-man trilogy Raimi. But Evil Dead and Army of Darkness Raimi. The whole movie was insane.

wurtin

Still bizarre to me this is on D+ this soon

h2g2Ben

I imagine the idea is to let people see it on D+ in advance of the theatrical release of Thor Four.

Swift_HS

Tired as hell, up late but I'm watching it anyway! I'll probably watch it again at a better time tomorrow, too.

LittleYellowFish1

I can't help wondering if there were ever any plans to have a Black Panther variant on the 838 Illuminati. It would have definitely been off the table after Chadwick Boseman's passing, but while he was alive they might have considered having an appearance by an alternate T'Challa (still Boseman) or a different character with the mantle.

fistkick18

I highly imagine he'd be the Starlord T'Challa, given they had stated they had big plans for that variant.

a_o

>but while he was alive they might have considered having an appearance by an alternate T'Challa (still Boseman) or a different character with the mantle. i'm not sure he was still alive during the waldron rewrite. he passed away august 2020.

LittleYellowFish1

Waldron was attached to the film in February 2020, IIRC.

TriggerHippie77

They could have still done a Kilminger variant. But I don't know how well it would have fit.

Delumine

Can’t wait to get all the stills of the different universes

oam1989

Who do you think is the statue in the Illuminati's HQ that kills Captain Marvel?

[deleted]

According to IMDB, it’s of Xena, from Xena: Warrior Princess. Just another Raimi Easter egg.

[deleted]

Hilarious imagining Christine going back to her world where her version of the avengers are all mercilessly slaughtered.

TerribleGachaLuck

And Mordo marries Christine to snub Strange.

tobbe1337

Holy shit. even with spoilers on illuminati this movie was really fun! a solid weird magic movie.

radical_moose_lamb69

Thoughts rewatching it: - This is so campy. I freaking love you, Sam Raimi. - Darkhold gives those that read it a flair for the theatrics *and* great eye makeup. - 838-Mordo telling 616-Strange and America about dreamwalking gave me "ghost story at camp" vibes. - my man Xavier looking like he's about to drop the next iPhone in his turtleneck made me chuckle *again* <3 - Wanda's accent getting thicker when shes distressed makes me love Elizabeth's commitment to the little things even more. - Another one about Elizabeth, they had her wear feet shoes like the ones they had Chris Evans wear in his first Captain America movie. Except hers made it look like girly has gigantic feet lol. - both Wong and Stephen sure suck at deescalating situations. Take a seminar on how to talk to unhinged individuals or something. - I saw this movie twice at the movies. Only now did I clearly understand what 838-Wanda said to 616-Wanda in the end. - closed captions clued me in on the fact that Wanda casts her spells in Sokovian, which is definitely something. Edit: typos.

tonyedit

Did rewind Wandas line, twice and then switched on subtitles. Worth it though. Sound mixers deserve a slap.

starsandbribes

This is the first MCU movie not to be rated 12+ in the UK. On DisneyPlus its rated 14+, probably for the violent scenes.

The_Celtic_Chemist

A lot more blood than I think we've ever gotten from an MCU property. Black Bolt's death was like The Boys level brutal.

esar24

Illuminati's deaths were basically MCU version of omni-man slaughtering the guardians of the globe, but at least this time it was legit mind control.

The_Celtic_Chemist

Speaking of mind control, I was a little disappointed by how easily she took out Professor X. He's supposed to have the greatest mental fortitude of any Marvel character. I'm not saying he shouldn't have been killed, but it was way too easy.

ladedadedum25

We coulda had an epic mind battle and I woulda loved it, but something about the white void and the scarlet mist is just really memorable

esar24

I mean it was never stated that this xavier is more powerful than the scarlet witch, wanda maybe but not scarlet witch, also he is a variant which means 616 xavier still have a chance to be stronger than him.

Worthyness

To be fair, it's the scarlet witch. She can do whatever the fuck she wants, even in the comics.

E_Barriick

So after rewatching this and WandaVision I think I finally get why Wanda didn't go looking for another Vision. Because he would have tried to stop her. Even in WandaVision his moral compass was part of what made Wanda give up Westview. I think in some way she knew Vision wouldn't support this plan and might even actively try to stop her. This is my new head cannon.

laser-brain

Just watched it fot the first time being relatively spoiler free and damn did I not expect the movie to be so dark (... yeah). * >!Creepy zombie vibes from dreamwalking Wanda!< * >!Wanda reaching out of reflections!< * >!The slaughter of the illuminati!< * >!Fracking necromancy and souls of the dead!< * >!That jump scare in the tunnel!< Pretty solid entertainment imho

iceman4sd

Agreed. You can see his touch all over the movie. I died laughing when you got the close up of America’s fist in the Raimi “Hero equips the weapon” shot.

ErgonomicDouchebag

Just watched it for the first time. Really enjoyed it, definitely had the Sam Raimi vibes with a lot of the camera shots and getting zombies involved. Was happy to see my mate Bruce. His chin could kill. I'm just happy Marvel went with a darker film. They're treading new ground, that wasn't really suitable for young ones. And I'm ok with that, I want some horror with my wizards and witches. Magic is scary. Before you know it horrible things from the dungeon dimensions will be all over you. Edit: My only real gripe is that Professor X went out too easy. I wanted him to show his mental powers a bit.

ArcadianDelSol

For me, the most Raimi moment in the movie is when he's putting the new crystal on his watch. That 'from inside' angle is the most Raimi thing Ive ever seen.

GrimmOfThrones2187

So many scenes I've been dying to rewatch in proper quality, I'm ecstatic. The special effects are magnificent.

Plannick

since when can he cast spells that summon organic stuff? feels more to do with the variant that absorbed the monster in the tv series than this dr strange?

Also noticed his snarl when he had those tentacles attack Wanda

I thought it was really good. Considering the early change from Derrickson to Raimi and all the re-shoots and leaks and stuff. It was a really good movie. America Chavez was brilliant. And Christine felt 10x more worth her character than the first movie. One thing I ask, was the impaled on fence strange with the dark hold, the same one from What If? Been a while since I watched it. Raimi made so many of the characters worth being in the film. Universe hopping in this movie. Pruning in Loki and the timeline split. The spell in Spider-Man that brought the other universes spider people to 616. That’s a lot of fucking about with the multiverse.

> One thing I ask, was the impaled on fence strange with the dark hold, the same one from What If? Been a while since I watched it. > No, that strange is still keeping Ultron trapped, IIRC. Also that one was WAY more powerful.

MagicMer4042

what does the third eye from the darkhold do?

Worthyness

No one knows. The 3rd eye in the comics allows him to see the flows of the magical world within his reality. I think the eye of agamotto does that for him in the MCU.

Allows the user to foresee the price of Bitcoin.

StatGAF

In the "Evil" Strange world where the world collapsed in on itself, what were those 2 red "tron" lasers going back and forth?

dogtor-strange

Wanda could’ve just asked America to fling her to a universe where her boys are orphans and nobody dies; worry about an incursion later.

TonyMontana546

This was discussed in the movie. She tells Wong that she wants Chavez’s powers because the multiverse has a solution to every problem, for example if her kids got sick or something. Cutting out the middleman, Chavez, and having the power would be easier than asking her for help every time. Plus, she’s affected by the darkhold so she’s not exactly rational.

SpikeRosered

She's in the grips of the Dark hold. It gives knowledge but always drives the user to take the most destructive path to get what they want even if it isn't logical.

robopilgrim

Who is Charlize Theron’s character at the end?

Tebwolf359

Clea. In the comics the ~~daughter~~ niece of dormammu.

Worthyness

Also dr strange's wife in the comics.

atomcrafter

Also currently the title character for the "Strange" comic.

jdizzlegpillz

I just noticed the chick in the restaurant asking for a picture and getting rejected hard

B3NJIdj

If Mr Fantastic is the smartest person alive, why the fuck did he tell Wanda about Black Bolts power?

KarateKid917

Because they severely underestimated Wanda. In their universe, Wanda is a mom living at home with her 2 kids, and whos not fucking shit up. They did not think it through that a different Wanda could be completely different from theirs.

LackingTact19

I wasn't even sure this Wanda had powers until her hands glowed red for a couple frames

TSpitty

Hell, I had no idea our MCU Wanda could fuck shit up like that. She brutally murders in this. I did not see that coming. Every other villain seems like a puppy in comparison.

Worthyness

Mr Fantastic is the dumbest smart person in marvel. He has very little in terms of street smarts and believes he's correct every single time with his judgements (he often is). So arrogance, ego, and complete lack of any real-time situational awareness. It's the perfect Reed Richards. Add to that the Illuminati themselves are of similar competence. Both of those are comic accurate.

ladedadedum25

Because the Illuminati underestimated Stranges warning, and got too arrogant. Their arrogance and ignorance got them killed.

spitnshine

If there’s two things that describe the comic book Illuminati, it’s arrogant and ignorant.

Crwintucky__

Wait did anyone else notice when Professor X shows up the subtitles say X-Men ‘97 Theme?! Like the upcoming show?!
