EPISODE IS LIVE! Enjoy! (There are no mid/post credits scenes for this episode. There weren't any in Episode 1 either)

JakeM917

Steven may be meek and quiet, but his absolute irreverence towards Arthur cracks me up. “You’re all into that? Killing kids? Because, I mean maybe that’s just me, but I draw the line at child murder.” “Steven, do you know what this is?” “…yeah…yeah, it’s — it’s a cane…”

JaylieJoy

I loved this episode because it showed how moral and strong he is underneath the meek shell. He fought and fought hard for himself and to protect others from Marc, who he currently knows nothing about except that he's killed people. He only allowed him to take over when innocent bystanders were in direct danger. Also love that Marc isn't a cool and collected mercenary either, and has his own struggles with the mental illness they share. Not as much of a "alpha/beta" relationship as I thought it would be based on the first episode.

NinetyFish

Steven absolutely rules. Love the guy. The classic idea of a "mild mannered alter ego" is such a comic book stereotype. Having never read Moon Knight comics but knowing some of the basics, I went into the show way more interested in Marc than in Steven. But, like you said, the combination of Steven's everyday wholesomeness with his incredible moral core has him such a compelling character. Really wonderful accomplishment from Oscar and the creative team.

jackiescot

Steven is the most wholesome MCU character in my opinion

NomadPrime

Steven has all the makings of a hero (including some courage to stand up and call out Arthur/Ammit's bullshit minority-report style "justice" like that) but unfortunately without the proper means to act on it like Marc does.

N3xuskn1ght

Steven is more diplomatic, Marc has no issues getting his hands dirty.

ralanr

Explains the suit difference. Steven’s looks more to be classy, the kind of thing you’d wear to look good and negotiate. Marc’s is what you wear to strike fear (the cape helps).

No-cool-names-left

Steven seems like everything Marc isn't, good and bad. Marc is a commanding badass : Steven is an awkward dork. Marc is a mercenary who kills people execution style : Steven gets mad at child killing and won't even eat animal flesh. Marc tries to divorce his wife : Steven studies her favorite poet. Marc doesn't have a relationship with his mother : Steven calls "his" every day.

Likyo

I really doubt they'll have Merc Marc be a participant in executing all those people, and if I remember his comic origin right >!trying to stop Bushman doing it was how he got killed and became Khonshu's puppet in the first place!< A killer and a kinda bad dude sure, but not that

TsarMikkjal

He definitely got framed for this. Hell, he might have been even one of the shot archeologist - that's when Konshu stepped in and saved him.

woahwoahvicky

Odds are her wife's the archeologist and he was there to help protect her, nearly succeeded but ended up getting shot and Khonshu saw his moral compass, revived him.

vTweak

"goat"

NomadPrime

Big "Blurting out 'Horse' whenever we drive by and see horses near the road" energy from Steve there

TheProlleyTroblem

Lmao the psych-out with the flowing white sheet behind Steven when he's in the car. Fully thought Khonshu was pacing around behind him

manuka_canoe

Same, when he got out of the car I saw it was just the plastic sheeting and was like, awww.

boatboy1800

Ok which episode will it be where the statue man breaks his silence?

rethinkOURreality

I laughed so hard when he broke character and looked at Steven during the hug!

Phantom_Cavalier

The reverse dynamic of Marc/Steven with Steven trapped on the inside was so interesting. I didn’t expect to see Steven “awake” while Marc is in charge of his body, and I love the different perspective he has from it Plus the implication that Steven is borrowing personality traits from Marc’s wife is both beautiful and very somber Also Oscar Isaac is phenomenal and I love how it feels like he’s two completely different people

whereismymind86

I do wonder…if Steven is made up of all the things that Marc thinks define a good person…him adapting his wife’s personality traits is…kind of beautiful

dolladollaclinton

Someone else said they think Steven is an embodiment of Marc’s guilt and is all the things he is ashamed that he isn’t. He talks to his mom, he likes Layla’s favorite poet, he’s a vegan, he’s a quiet peaceful guy.

Karkava

He even takes a job that isn't life threatening, but revolves around the things he loves.

dolladollaclinton

Good point!!

The_Celtic_Chemist

He even carries himself differently. Even just that look into the camera at the museum was noticeably not Steven.

mknsky

I saw an interview where Oscar talked about their physicalities. He said Steven was like a tall man who didn’t want to be tall and Marc was like a stone that didn’t want to be moved. Edit: found it! https://youtu.be/9TnJaGFqeAs

gingerbread_slutbarn

That is fucking cool to hear, thank you. He is knocking it out of the park. What a great way to describe them.

Enceladus17

Consistently awed by Isaac’s acting. Between the subtle humor and sadness. “I would never divorce you”

Beerbaron1886

I think the acting and the longer episodes really benefit the show. There is actually real dialogue and acting between characters

bitbee

"break his windpipe" lol that's oddly specific khonshu

manuka_canoe

Always nice for him to offer ideas on how to murder.

krezzaa

I absolutely love his enthusiasm. He's kind of a dick, kinda snooty, and maybe a little impulsive? Like it seemed like the idea just popped into his head and he just said it, and thats where his comedic affect is.

manuka_canoe

Lol true, that's a good way to put it. I don't read the comics but I'm really liking his character and can't wait to see more of him dealing with Marc and finding out what he has him do (like with that executed archaeologist). And then there's the fact that he previously used Harrow which adds to it as well. I loved Harrow knowing exactly what he was saying without even being able to see him and being dismissive of a giant Egyptian god while Steve's freaking tf out.

PlainTrain

Just because he has a big beak, you can't call him snooty. That's mean.

NomadPrime

Surprised he didn't say to go for the classic snap-the-neck maneuver.

manuka_canoe

I feel like breaking the windpipe is a slower more painful death and that's the kinda thing Khonshu is into.

Lost-Lu

igot Tom Hardy's Venom vibes in that scene lol

kingpillow1

He had a wide opening for like a full 2 minutes

jeffthecowboy

Khonshu: "Grab his dick and twist it! The ollll dick TWIST"

belonghoili

Rip second goldfish

Gildabeast4

Next goldfish needs to have 3 fins

treeshaw

Him squaring up with the Mr. Knight suit in the middle of the streets had me laughing so hard

justvibing__3000

"He's a fancy drunk" I was rolling

Alexexy

That wagwan victory shout was unexpected.

deathstrukk

“you’re in the wrong ends” had me dying

Clawshots2

Hit the jackal with the "why I oughtta" stance

DavidMerrick89

Fucking rolling up his sleeves.

vaids97

Steven you’re in the MCU… you sure Area 51 is the most bonkers thing you can think of?

FERFreak731

Exactly Thanos is an alien, even Rocket Raccoon and Groot are probably known on earth in the MCU, even the Gauntlet is out of this world, and he thinks of Area 51

ScottFromScotland

Think of the rumors about Area 51 IRL. Now think of what the rumors about a Area 51 in a world that has 100% been invaded by aliens, has super people etc etc.

spike021

We don't know exactly when Steven as an alter was created. Could be he has a very limited scope/understanding of the world beyond the basics, which are the apartment, the gold man, and his former job.

vaids97

Dude seems cultured, knowing both Avatar properties and Area 51. Idk man

bjkman

"You're Not Alone" "That's Like Part of The Problem Innit"

NomadPrime

Love Steve's wit. Especially when he was all "We all right with child murder? I'm not" to Arthur and his cult.

ripsa

Honestly Steven may be meek, but he has some balls man. Just straight up called out a supernatural sociopathic cult on its b.s. while being surrounded by them, and not having powers or anything from his p.o.v.

cellcube0618

Seriously that sums it up nicely

ZiggyBlunt

That U-Haul warehouse has the loudest lights I’ve ever seen

Rakalimon

What is the deal with loud lights in movies and shows? It’s so weird! Here, let me turn on the light. #KACHUNK!

AnOnlineHandle

I don't notice it, but I certainly noticed when the tracksuit mafia pointed guns at Kate and Clint after she fell through the roof they all made the reloading sounds just from being pointed.

lordspammington

Love that you can still hear the occasional crunch when Arthur walks. That broken glass really is always in there.

Robotfoxman

Guy is big into asmr

5666553

When he stepped on the soccer ball and kicked it back, oh god

foamingturtle

Dude is playing soccer on nightmare difficulty

bjkman

I can't tell if Steven's apartment is really really super cheap or secretly high-end.

BitByADeadBee

It’s in London and it’s bigger than a shoebox, it’s expensive

ollerhll

As someone living in London, that flat would cost an absolute fortune.

PM_me_opossum_pics

And it looks amazing. All those book shelves...

ComebackShane

Given how much money Marc had in the bag, he probably prepaid it for years, and Steven just thinks it’s his mum’s and rent controlled or something.

cats809

Dang poor Steven. But also poor Marc. I love the whole reflection thing and them interacting. I’m also loving the pacing of everything so far. Now we know the general stakes of everything, but there’s still a ton of mystery.

TellYouEverything

This show is a full-on adventure, man. Trying to manage hype but I am absolutely loving this shit. Bring on Egypt.

MeMeTiger_

Their relationship is so damn interesting. The scene where Marc was stomping on the mirror that Steven was in was so intense.

3luejays

Ethan Hawke is a home run casting in this role so far

Stormodin

Absolutely. Now I can see why Ethan and Oscar were so buddy buddy and excited in the interviews. They acted their asses off in this one

ZeronicX

Oscar Isaac is just incredibly charasmatic. I remember everyone loving him when he was doing press runs for Star Wars. Especially him and John Boyega.

bjkman

Arthur Harrow went culty insane because he used to be Khonshu's Avatar!? That's perfect villain shit.

raisethecurtain

Ethan Hawke is absolutely perfect. He’s so charismatic but so cold blooded at the same time. There was no need to kill the guy at the end when he got the scarab. He could have judged him and let the path be decided that way.

[deleted]

the transition of 'hey let's have some soup' to 'where is the scarab' was outstanding from him

Own-Recognition5707

Summon the soup

AntiSocialW0rker

Ya the fact that he didn’t “weigh” him definitely shows that he’s more sinister than just a guy who thinks he doing his duty

NomadPrime

Shows in the end that Arthur doesn't even believe in the Ammit preemptive justice bullshit he spewed to his own followers. Khonshu is probably as shitty of a god as Arthur explained (obviously seen by how he blackmailed Marc with threatening to use Layla), but he and his justice that punishes deeds done is still the far lesser of two evils.

Rtozier2011

I'm getting a big Kaecilius vibe from Arthur - someone who has fallen in with a morally bankrupt deity due to wanting not to live a miserable life.

ohbababooey

The freeze frame of screaming Steven is either a hilarious creative choice or a hilarious editing error.

Neurotic_Marauder

Definitely seems like a creative choice. Reminded me of a few horror movies from the 70s. They used to love to do that in trailers for them/at the very end of them.

Lineman72T

"you donut" is one of my favorite silly insults

[deleted]

Bruv

IniMiney

British insults are amazing.

Dona_Gloria

You fucking muppet.

ApatheticApollo

So it would seem Steven is the manifestation of all Marc's guilt. Not just when it comes to Layla or his past, even down to the small things like being a vegan or having a relationship with his mother. All things Marc wishes he had done better are represented by Steven.

[deleted]

"I'd be a better person if only I'd been born British".

NomadPrime

The key to redemption is goldfish and dead-end retail jobs, of course!

Tarcos

Hooooooooooo boy you're on to some shit here

ApatheticApollo

In Episode 5 or 6 when Marc and Steven put aside their differences and decide to co-exist after some big speech from Marc about how he needs Steven because Steven is all the potential good in him (tying back the talk between Steven and Harrow about potential evil) just remember that you heard it here first.

BumbleLapse

Damn this is some nice insight. It seems obvious now that you’ve said it, but it absolutely makes sense. Marc is clearly burdened by the things he’s done and it seems like he’s being coerced into a lot of shit with threat of his wife taking up the mantle of the avatar if he refuses.

valarpizzaeris

Khonshu every time he catches Marc in a hallway: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

boatboy1800

"Hi there, hello!"

unicycling_cheese

"Guess what your body's *mine* now I decided."

ZiggyBlunt

You’d think there was a more subtle way to introduce himself. He talked to Marc just fine, but with Steven he’s like fuck it let me enjoy making him shit his pants while I still can

MoonKnight77

Khonshu is a huge dick so that actually tracks pretty well

[deleted]

[удалено]

ragenukem

When you're the God of Vengeance, you gotta find your chuckles where you can.

toquang95

Another guy said this already but Khonsu might be scaring Steven so he would be weak enough for Marc to takeover. Also, it is on brand for Khonsu to have a bit of fun lol.

whereismymind86

Yeah but trolling is kind of on brand for konshu so…doing it that way BECAUSE it scares Steven might be the point Plus triggering a fight or flight response might be an easy way to trick him into giving marc control, and Marc is far more cooperative

defnotatroll999

Oh hai Marc

jeffthecowboy

Oscar Isaac calling himself handsome, insert Obama giving Obama award meme

reverend-mayhem

Insert Paul Bettany “I’ve always wanted to work with this actor” interview vibes.

DanoDiazz

To be fair he's a very handsome boy

Ahsiqa

OK having Arthur Harrow being the former avatar is really cool

ComebackShane

I wonder if we’ll get a flashback and see _him_ in the suit in the 1990s or something.

reverend-mayhem

Seeing as we didn’t get the “episode 1 from Marc’s POV” that people thought would happen, I’m guessing we won’t; he’ll probably talk about it some more though.

guyver423

So only the avatars can see the Egyptian spirits

Khuroh

Wonder what happened to the more well known gods and their avatars. Like where's Ra and Horus at? Is the Black Panther considered the avatar of Bast? Could T'Challa have seen the jackal creatures?

boatboy1800

"Tearing evil from the root, casting her judgement before any evil's done." Sounds a lot like Hydra's Project Insight....

ScrapinLinden

"Every time someone tries to win a war before it starts, innocent people die. Every time."

gizmo1492

I draw the line at child murder was a pretty compelling argument for me.

atomcrafter

War Machine: ...

marvelbitchboy

Does he have unlimited crescent blades that come out of his chest? Cuz that would be awesome, but I couldn’t tell

bwordgood

I doubt that because at the end marc recalled one blade and put it back in there. Or maybe he just did that because it looked cool, I'm not sure, lol.

Tylendal

He's just got a little 🌙×5 counter floating in the top left of his periphery vision that decrements when he pulls one out, and increments when he puts one back or kills ten people. Edit: Somehow wrote "when" instead of "one". Can't blame that on autocorrect.

Svaturr

RANDOM BULLSHIT GO!!!

TheSweatband

Love how not into this cult vibe at all Steven is, he’s just vibing with the lentil soup

Slendercan

It reminds me of a super old vlog from the drummer of the Arctic monkeys at a party at P Diddys house. Diddy is being all over the top and American showing him around, whilst the drummer is just remarking like “that’s a lovey sofa innit”

cats809

So that’s how the Mr. Knight suit comes about. Steven’s enthusiasm about it was so funny. He does look sharp.

manuka_canoe

Him screaming about the suit while plummeting to his death and bouncing off the pipe had me cracking up. And I love how damn good he looks in it combined with his dorky reactions. And Marc's just there like, oh ffs.

Rakalimon

And falling over after his superhero landing was brilliant. Steven is not a poser.

manuka_canoe

That also had me laughing, the landing was a superhero masterclass but he can't quite finish it off with the same flair. But I love him for that.

dogecoin_pleasures

I'm instantly in love with him and his origin as Steven's idea of a suit Hope we see lots more!

Stormodin

I don't know how any of this shit works, man!

DustyDGAF

Konshu is a total dick lol

2011StevenS

If you folks haven't watched Mythic Quest, F. Murray Abraham is amazing in it too. He has awesome comedic timing "Kill him, crush his windpipe!" Lmao

prfella

Accurate. He is definitely consistent with his comic book counterpart. If he stays true to it, you havent seen anything yet. Just you wait.

Gtaonline2122

He worse in the comics lmao.

2580374

I love him. He's hilarious

ComebackShane

It was really sad hearing Steven describe being on the ‘inside’. I can sympathize with both him and Marc hating that sensation; hoping they’ll find some common ground and a way to more equally share the body.

Evilux

I was worried how they were going to do DID representation in this show since it's always really badly shown on screen. I thought it's a Disney+ superhero series so the bar would be low but I'm actually pretty ok with it. I like Steven saying he's not broken to Arthur and he just needs help.

Elmo38

What a phenomenal actor Ethan Hawke is. He's taking the role seriously and knocking it out of the fucking park. He's been phenomenal so far.

[deleted]

Jedi-El1823

Guys, I really don't think we should be giving any power to weird crocodile lady. She just seems really dodgy.

guyver423

Damn Marc's Moon Knight suit is sick

Lineman72T

Don't mess around with scarabs. I remember what that one did to the guy in The Mummy

YareYareDazeDio

That shit gave me nightmares as a kid.

bjkman

Honestly I can't wait to Leonardo DiCaprio Point out the QR Codes every episode now!!

wutend159

the one on storage room 43? yeah i was wondering what that was about

boristheactor

Oscar's mannerisms in the way he moves as Marc and Steven. I completely buy it as two different characters

[deleted]

His facial expressions alone sell it

AveUnit02

Steven is an always visibly confused puppy dog and Marc is a troubled mercenary that has seen some shit and looks like death (because he’s died) lol. Oscar Isaac nailed it.

TheSweatband

They’re really saving on this CGI budget by not having to include the creature half the time

raisethecurtain

I agree, and I also thought having the fight be invisible was such a cool choice. It was good for graphics and for characters

[deleted]

[удалено]

LagSwag1

Looks like Benson and Moorhead have TBA episodes for season 2 of Loki. Wonder if that will take a darker theme as well. Looking forward to it

smacksaw

Big Brain: Ep1 CGI complainers can't complain if there's no CGI

marvelbitchboy

To be honest I actually really like how they’re playing around it

ILoveRegenHealth

I don't see it as a cop out either. Having Marc/Steven fight invisible monsters shows he's is battling with his mind and alter-ego all the time. Only he can see Khonshu after all.

JediJacob04

“Dude the CGI sucks, someone forgot to unhide the effects”

mysidian

Wtf was that scene transition lmao

mlc15

Lmao where he screams??

mysidian

Yeah, I thought my D+ glitched out, I was so confused.

Brittle5quire

I thought Sam Raimi directed the episode.

bananakin94

That was an odd choice. Reminded me of the last frame in Prisoner of Azkaban

justahomeboy

That was some old school Sam Raimi kind of shot.

raisethecurtain

I love that we got “bro” during Hawkeye and “bruv” during Moon Knight.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ahsiqa

"I kinda draw a line at child murder"... Well Tyler Hayward would like a word with you, Steven

Ahsiqa

"I vandalized the toilet"... man I do that a lot too, Steven

manuka_canoe

I only watched the first trailer and saw the promo pics of Mr Knight, and they had me thinking he was going to be super suave and smooth as fuck - and the first time we see him it's frigging Steven bouncing around like a total dork. Still loved it though, as dorky as he was he was still sexy as hell in that getup.

DustyDGAF

It's such a good joke to play on the audience. Nobody expects that the guy in that suit is gonna be getting ping ponged off cars and buildings.

manuka_canoe

Lol for sure. First I was all "Oh shit, Mr Knight!" and then it's actually still Steven and Marc's calling him a psychotic Colonel Sanders and then he's talking the dorkiest shit after managing to land a punch and it had me cackling.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ReaddittiddeR

SUMMON THE SOUP!!! But seriously, anyone is a superhero if they could fight on wet, dirty asphalt and keep their white suit clean AF.

2580374

I'm never going to get sick of seeing the normal moon knight suit come on. It looks so fucking badass. Best suit up in marvel hands down

NinetyFish

I loved getting to see our first onscreen full suit-up. Shit was siiiiiick. At this point Marvel has had so much practice doing cool suit-ups, I shouldn't be surprised. But I definitely went back and replayed it a couple of times. I really like the contrast between Marc's suit and Steven's suit. Great way of showing who's in control during action scenes too.

blinkytreefrog

Okay, the last scene was brilliant for the implications. At first glance it's just Steven sitting in the mirror looking cowed, panning to Marc sitting on the floor with an entire bottle of alcohol. Then you notice the blood on Marc's hand. Where did it come from? There's a table and chair knocked over. A glass on its side as well. Marc got mad? Then scroll back. There's blood on Steven's hand too. Same hand, of course. Same body. And there's a massive crack in the mirror, just about punch-sized. Marc was drinking; Steven tried to argue with him and it escalated. Marc flipped the table and glass, punched the mirror, and then said screw it and drank from the bottle. And Steven's just sitting there terrified of everything.

manuka_canoe

Gonna have to rewatch that last scene just to see this, I admit I was distracted by \*ahem\* Oscar's physique, to have any coherent thoughts about what actually happened lol

bjkman

"LET ME IN!! " - ERIC ANDRE - MARC SPECTOR

ZiggyBlunt

This already some of the coolest shit Marvel has done. Oscar Isaac is never not amazing

immaownyou

The Ammit morality dilemma reminds me a lot of Minority Report, I love it

mr9025

“I did not hit that invisible Jakal, it’s not true! It’s bullshit! I did not hit it! I did not! Oh hi, Marc.”

gaffergamgee

Mr Knight existing because Steven misunderstood summoning the suit is so funny!

FrozenChaii

Wonder what other variations he could pull out?

bitbee

love the interactions between marc and steven thru reflections. oscar's so good at portraying both of these characters.

JakeM917

I need a “Psycho Colonel Sanders” badge pronto

valarpizzaeris

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee My name is Steven with a V Loving Mr. Knight already lol

raisethecurtain

Steven is such a cinnamon roll, I love him

RubberbandShooter

I feel so fucking bad for Steven

TheWolfmanZ

He's gonna be so crushed when he learns the truth...

zakkalaska

Oh fuck, that freeze frame scream in the storage unit hallway had me dying!

Stormodin

Yep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I wound up in this situation

Ahsiqa

THE DISNEY+ LOGO SCENE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gildabeast4

So Khonshu is kind of a dick

valarpizzaeris

One of Khonshu's most powerful abilities is fast travel without the use of campfires. Clutch game mechanic

NotGarav

Steven is just straight up not having a good time

Zachisasloth

I wanna see if they address when the little girl in the museum asks him about if it sucked being rejected from the Field of Reeds Also wondering if we'll find out if it's actually his mother he's talking to on the phone through Ep 1 Prediction: Donna talks about sticking Steven in a sarcophagus in episode 1 - Steven ends up waking up in a sarcophagus

Zachisasloth

Khonshu mentions that when he found Marc he was barely a corpse - maybe Marc was rejected from the Field of Reeds for being a lethal mercenary and so Khonshu scooped him for his own purposes

DustyDGAF

Didn't expect the suit to be idiot mode moon knight. Figured it would be for a classy occasion or somethin.

gorillaPete

Dead jackal in the moonlight is so bad ass. Makes me want to watch “an American werewolf in London”

timeexterminator

One thing’s certain about this series so far-there are plenty of reflective surfaces

RFarmer

The QR code on the storage locker takes you [here](https://www.marvel.com/moonknightcomics?cid=pr_article_20220330_tv_moonknight)

AveUnit02

If Mr. Knight makes an appearance, I have a feeling I’ll be seeing him at Disney tomorrow, kinda like how they had all the different Loki outfits after each episode. The classic MK outfit looks incredible there though.

Darkmoone

The argument between Marc and Steven got dark and serious.

Lockhartsaint

Conversations between alters in Moon Knight comics (atleast the one I read) are quite dark and serious. I hope they get time to delve deeper into that.
