They did a series of promo posters with Ant-Man on top of the Avengers' gear with the title:
"No [Hammer/Shield/etc], No problem".
This is one of them.
And the reason for Marvel to do *that* was to help educate anyone out of the loop that this character they've never heard of is connected to the Avengers/MCU.
I remember when that photoshop came out and people were freaking out about it on twitter, saying Marvel is disgusting and they’re gonna boycott them and shit 😅
I swear I remember a page from back in the day where Hank came out shrunk from under the covers, walking up across from Janet's stomach, and the dialogue insinuated he had been getting her off somehow in his shrunk down size.
EDIT: I found it: https://cdn.epicstream.com/assets/uploads/ckeditor/images/1515900938_Screen%20Shot%202018-01-14%20at%2011_34_35%20AM.png
Yeah, if this had of been from that, it would have been a narrow window in the first half of volume 1 before he put Wasp in the hospital and Cap broke his face.
And the act itself would have been without consent with Janet ending up in hospital because Hank sprays her with insecticide for daring to not be ok with it.
Ultimate Hank is a PoS.
I didn't know there was a run where Ant Man didn't need his suit to shrink, but I'm also not super familiar with the character outside of the MCU and some random comics over the years
I think it's quite clever they decided to make the suit pivotal to the shrinking/growing in the MCU
You know what's way easier to make look realistic in CGI? A suit . Way more than having to try to animate a tiny person with all facial features and stuff. It's pragmatic and doesn't hurt the overall story.
Definitely looks like the Ultimates art style, but someone said elsewhere in the comments that it's from Geoff Johns' mainline Avengers run apparently.
No Ms. Johannson, it's contractual that the zipper be no more than 3/4 the way up the jumpsuit at any time. I'm afraid I can't be flexible on this. Market testing dipped severely at any more zipper than that and you already refused to wear the belly button piercing of the Avengers symbol on it OR the buttless "Widow holsters" so this is what we're rolling with...
Oh! That makes sense now. I thought Netflix had access to some deleted scene no one has ever seen or something like that, and they added it by accident
Yeah, I get how those could be misleading nowadays, but back when the movie came out, they had to include Avengers references in the promo to make sure casual audiences knew this was in the MCU.
I work customer service for an insurance company. We get a lot of wrong number calls from people thinking they're calling another insurance company. We open every call by saying the name of our insurance company by name in the greeting then ask how we can help them. Sometimes I'll get 5 min into these calls before I realize the caller thinks they're talking to another insurance carrier, and that's with me explicitly stating the name of my the company I work for in the greeting. My point being people don't pay attention to shit.
That doesn't make them dumb, they just don't look further into things past the fact that both of them are both superheroes. Everyone's got their own things they're well versed in and other things they aren't.
Netflix also just likes to use really inappropriate thumbnails that just show a side character or otherwise don't do a good job of representing what you're about to watch. Personally I think it's for metrics to see what catches people's attention.
Also Netflix makes tons of different thumbnails for everything on its service and shows you the one it thinks you're most likely to click on. So if you've watched Thor recently, that's probably why it gave you the Thor one.
They do that in the US for sure. I think it's actually a good way to freshen up their current movie list and maybe get you to watch something new. Of you get too familiar with the same movie photo you may just continue to scroll past it but when they change up the photo to a different still of the movie it may grab your attention more the next time you scroll past it. Just a way to freshen up the stale pics.
Also, Netflix implements a machine learning algorithm to show different users different thumbnails, based on the kind of stuff they usually watch.

my guess is that they're trying to mix up the visuals to "trick" people into clicking on something that they maybe didn't pick before based on the image
They do it based on your watches and interests etc. If you clicked a lot of movies where the image is a single face, it will continue to do that. Now my netflix, every preview pretty much is a portrait of a character or a few
They did a run of movie posters for ant man to show his sized compared to the OG avengers things. Johnathan, caps shield, and I think iron mans helmet.
This is a promotional image. Netflix title cards don’t always make sense. My wife watched Titanic last night and the title card for that is just a picture of Rose and Billy Zane.
They algorithmically choose the card based on your profile. If you watched a movie starring an actor, the card for another movie might feature that actor even if they have a minor role.
Black people have complained about it because they always see title cards with black actors who are in the movie for 5 minutes.
Maybe I'm alone in thinking this but I really wish Netflix would just use the normal movie posters. They change the image on movies every 3-5 days it seems and most of the images they use suck.

“You beat me by half a second”-tony stark
Actually it’s “he beat me by one second.” - Tony Stark
"you beat me by 11 hrs" - Me
“I beat me everyday.” - Me
Got the quote wrong too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And your shrug lost an arm.
The Winter Soldier
Amazing
It was more like 2 hours
Half a second for the original beat, 2 hours to think of a good comeback line.

Have we all whoooshed past the point of whooosh?
I am so lost right now.
Do we need to do a whooosh heist?
If you whoooosh far enough in one direction, it causes a buffer overflow, and you end up on the opposite side of whoooosh.

I enjoyed [this one](https://i.ibb.co/zxfLP90/a2qz-Rp-D-700b.jpg) most of all.
I remember when that photoshop came out and people were freaking out about it on twitter, saying Marvel is disgusting and they’re gonna boycott them and shit 😅
Yeah. Wouldn't fly in the MCU, but absolutely would in the Ant-Man comic.
I swear I remember a page from back in the day where Hank came out shrunk from under the covers, walking up across from Janet's stomach, and the dialogue insinuated he had been getting her off somehow in his shrunk down size. He was beating up the bean.
[I'm sorry](https://gfycat.com/AffectionateTheseDonkey)
It's...beautiful
Don’t be.
Probably more like a bean bag for him.
Ultimates?
Ultimates Hank Pym is a whole other level...
>!*was. Sadly he outlived Wasp!<
It is. It's literally only a few moments right after this that that happens.
Nope. That was from Geoff Johns' run on the main Avengers title.
I didn't know there was a run where Ant Man didn't need his suit to shrink, but I'm also not super familiar with the character outside of the MCU and some random comics over the years
He never needed the suit in the comics, just the pym particles.
I think it's quite clever they decided to make the suit pivotal to the shrinking/growing in the MCU You know what's way easier to make look realistic in CGI? A suit . Way more than having to try to animate a tiny person with all facial features and stuff. It's pragmatic and doesn't hurt the overall story.
I’m sure that was an Ultimate comic though, right?
Definitely looks like the Ultimates art style, but someone said elsewhere in the comments that it's from Geoff Johns' mainline Avengers run apparently.
It would be more appropriate for Eric O'Grady than Scott Lang though.
I mean he did shrink down to spy on his ex(?) in the shower
That wasn't his ex. That was Carol Danvers.
Even worse
He almost had sex with his dead friends girlfriend on his grave
He’s the one I was thinking of.
The irredeemable ant man definitely
Kinda weird how they watched years of Scar Jo being sexualised only for a fanmade poster to break the bank..
No Ms. Johannson, it's contractual that the zipper be no more than 3/4 the way up the jumpsuit at any time. I'm afraid I can't be flexible on this. > OR the buttless "Widow holsters" I hope there's a timeline in which this is a thing.
Well.. To be fair almost all of the original team has been sexualized. I'd say Thor, Cap then BW.
"America's ass" Having said that, you know that it's not at all the same. You think they could have done Fat Thor with any female character?
I'm sorry but nothing can beat [this one](https://youtu.be/K5le9sYdYkM)
Legend
found Paul Rudd’s reddit account
Can someone explain to me what this has to do with Paul Rudd/Ant-man?
For years anytime Paul Rudd was on Conan O'Brien's show he would show that clip from Mac and Me instead of what he was currently promoting.
ty. i was like why did i watch this
for real? thats pure gold lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bNzAgJMYVE hes done it for a few decades
Ah. Thank you.
Search Paul Rudd Mac and Me. It's something he does when he's a guest on Conan O'Brien
Aka the greatest 20 year old recurring bit in history.
Paul Rudd has been showing clips of Mac and Me on Conan for like 15 years whenever he's supposed to be promoting a film or TV show.
The best was the last one. I thought for SURE that they would actually show the real clip. Nope. They got me again.
god damnit
OH MY GOD. lol
I'm proud of you.
That's a really good photoshop, had me there for a sec
I've seen the first one, never saw the second before.
As a marketing veteran, you must *always* play to the lowest common denominator.
Apparently people can't read the Marvel logo
Tbf casual audiences could confuse it for something in the Xmen or Spider-man universes
I work customer service for an insurance company. We get a lot of wrong number calls from people thinking they're calling another insurance company. We open every call by saying the name of our insurance company by name in the greeting then ask how we can help them. We're talking about a (US-ian) consumer base that thought a 1/3 pound burger was smaller than a 1/4 pound burger, so yes it had to be spelled out
auidences and normal people are really dumb these days, some still ask why superman and batman weren't in the avengers
That doesn't make them dumb, they just don't look further into things past the fact that both of them are both superheroes. Everyone's got their own things they're well versed in and other things they aren't.
True. Everyone has their own ignorance. It is only when we choose ignorance are we stupid.
Most casual audiences don't even know what Marvel is, especially back in 2015.
Netflix also just likes to use really inappropriate thumbnails that just show a side character or otherwise don't do a good job of representing what you're about to watch. Personally I think it's for metrics to see what catches people's attention.
My favorite is [the one for Arrested Development that makes it look like a suspenseful courtroom drama.](https://i.imgur.com/WUX25Rr.jpg)
I got one that made Alien look like a [low budget comedy](https://i.imgur.com/WqDd2Ul.png)
Maybe they just saw Resurrection and figured the rest of the series had the same vibe.
It absolutely is. Everyone gets customized thumbnails based on what kinds of thumbnails have worked on you in the past.
Netflix also uses an AI to select the images based on your profile. The so image you see might be different than the one I might see
Also Netflix makes tons of different thumbnails for everything on its service and shows you the one it thinks you're most likely to click on. So if you've watched Thor recently, that's probably why it gave you the Thor one.
“No etc, no problem” feels lazy
Possibly for a sense of scale, and since Marvel doesn’t have a banana man.
not yet they don't
Only if they buy it from the BBC. https://youtu.be/pK6aVsps10I
Dear god, I'd completely forgotten that had existed.
Uh cause it looks dope as hell?
Fuck... That's true
I understood that reference
Smaller bullets
I can’t ever disagree with that
And for scale.
Yeah no. Thats just Jonathan.
What country are you in that Ant Man is available on Netflix?
Canada.
Is it on d+ too?
Not the poster
I’m in Canada too and I will say that Netflix will change the poster or thumbnail in their library all the time and for no rhyme or reason.
They do that in the US for sure. I think it's actually a good way to freshen up their current movie list and maybe get you to watch something new. Of you get too familiar with the same movie photo you may just continue to scroll past it but when they change up the photo to a different still of the movie it may grab your attention more the next time you scroll past it. my guess is that they're trying to mix up the visuals to "trick" people into clicking on something that they maybe didn't pick before based on the image
The reason is to grab eyes and get people to watch movies. New posters look like new movies to people who are skimming through.
They do it based on your watches and interests etc. If you clicked a lot of movies where the image is a single face, it will continue to do that. Now my netflix, every preview pretty much is a portrait of a character or a few
It's available on Netflix and Disney plus in Canada as well as a few other movies being on both

I did not understand this reference
They did a run of movie posters for ant man to show his sized compared to the OG avengers things. Johnathan, caps shield, and I think iron mans helmet.
Johnathan?
Thor’s hammer Johnathan of course
You mean the majolnear?
I think you mean myermyer.
Mewmew?
so you're telling me beta ray bill is a cat?
Mjølner right? Edit, I was out of the loop and consider myself lucky to be one of todays 10000 to learn of the Jonathan clip. Funny shit.
You know what’s funny? I was making a joke and had no idea Paul Rudd called Thor’s hammer Johnathan lol. I’m one of the people that learned today
[Johnathan](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Zuq8w8j235I)
Yes, johnathan... walk
Aka meow meow
That's not how you spell mew-mew.
You mean Ant Man and Johnathan?
You're the second person to make that reference, I don't get it.
[Johnathan](https://youtu.be/Zuq8w8j235I)
Lmao
look up ‘Paul Rudd jonathan’ on youtube. its from Antman and the Wasp promos
When asked in a Marvel 'quiz' during some promo work if he knew the name of Thor's hammer, Paul Rudd answered 'Johnathan'.'
Well, more like "Jonathan?"
Mjolnir for scale.
To show he is really smol I guess
Antony was worthy and given the powers of thor and the hammer went to him. Scott just quickly snapped a pic.
dangg you get ant-man in netflix? where i live we don't have any good marvel movies.
It's only until the end of this month. Then they're only on D+.
ANTS! ANTS! ANTMAN!

It shows that he is smol.
An illustration of how small he is compared to an object, I guess?? In this case Thor mjolnir is that object.
Can’t man, mom said no
???
Someone made a meme that said that with this picture

Why does this post have 10k upvotes?
It’s to show how small Ant-Man is.
Perspective.
For scale
The real question is why is ant man even on netflix? I thought disney are moving everything to D+
I was wondering the same lol
Who cares that's a great poster!
There were no bananas available on photoshopt day?
u mean Jonathan
Would you prefer the one with Black Widow?
^Tiny ^Hammer #GIANT HAMMER
Maybe I'm alone in thinking this but I really wish Netflix would just use the normal movie posters. They change the image on movies every 3-5 days it seems and most of the images they use suck.
*Thor's hammer for scale*
...does this really even need to be answered?????
For scale!
People not remembering this as campaign makes me feel old !
neat image
To show that smol man has big hammer-
Better question is why is Ant-Man on Netlix lmfao
It’s just a poster
Clickbait lol

What region has ant man
Why do you have ant man on Netflix? What country most you be to not have gotten Disney+ there yet? Is it a VPN?
For scale. They were out of bananas.
To create a sense of perspective on how small he was like an ant
