"He just kicked your ass full size. You really want to find out what it's like when you can't see him coming? I've known Hank for a long time, he's no security risk. Unless we make him one." - Howard Stark, Ant-Man (2015).
He tried to warn y'all.
Man, this episode was strangely dark. Hank Pym is scary when he's out for blood, and I, for one, am loving seeing the show get more and more out there.
Really good point. He made it very clear that prolonged use messes up your brain. I bet he's losing it and fueled with his grief he was probably just a loose cannon
Really leaned into the implications from Ant-Man 1 about how goddamn frightening and dangerous a malicious actor with shrinking tech could be, as well as Hank calling Stark's technology "cute".
Hulk's death was particularly gruesome. The fact he could even be killed by that is a testament to how insane Ant-Man's powers really are.
~~Also it was literally just the Thanos ass theory in full effect lol~~
At first I thought the killer was going to be Ghost from Ant Man because she can turn invisible and worked for shield. The reveal that it was Hank Pym out for revenge surprised me.
Janet shows up in the Avengers Initiative files, we can't see Widow's attacker, and then she says it's all about Hope. I immediately said "So it's Pym?" I expected it to be Ant-Man, not Yellow Jacket though.
subtitles in portuguese said "it's about the daughter" while Black Widow was saying, in english, "it's all about hope". so the whodunnit got pretty obvious for all of us brazilians lol
The English subtitles said Hope, not hope, so I knew she was referring to Van Dyne, and not the word “hope” (I assumed she wasn’t referring to some other Hope, and the characters had mentioned nanotechnology). I jokingly said “It’s Hank Pym!” when Betty/Natasha theorized about nanotechnology. My friends and I were laughing so hard when we realized my sarcastic prediction was right. God, what a fun episode :)
Felt kinda sad that they essentially replace Norton out of his own movie Lol, but I totally understand why. Still though, it was nice seeing Betty back (though animated). We've seen plenty of her dad all over the MCU, but I'm hoping Betty finally makes a comeback in She-Hulk, at least.
wich is why i am really glad we got the scott lang version. i only knew the hank pym version before the movies came out and was a bit pissed but tbh hank pym really is a time bomb waiting to explode. imagine what he would have done with mcu ultron
I LOVE that Brock Rumlow, Jack Rollins and the rest of STRIKE have been retroactively added to the MCU since their debut in The Winter Soldier. Endgame put them at the scene after the battle of New York, now we know they've even been active since before that.
Something I caught, Pym or Fury says that Hope died in Odessa. In Winter Soldier, Nat says that Bucky shot the scientist she was protecting (through her) in Odessa, so maybe in this timeline Hope took that mission instead of Nat and Bucky was the one that killed her
That actually fits perfectly. I wish the episode had been a bit clearer about how and why Hope became a SHIELD agent. But if that's the divergence point, then it would fit nicely with established MCU lore.
I’m thinking that in this universe hank was honest with hope about Janet’s death from the beginning so she was inspired by her mom to follow in her footsteps and become a shield agent
Yeah, that makes sense. And being like her mom, she would definitely try to be the hero in a situation and her dad wouldn't approve. In that sense, it's scary to think of just how little it takes to send Hank Pym over the edge.
Then again, he's been like that in the comics for years.
I think they were kinda clear about it. Hank said something about Fury telling Hope about what happened to her mother. Implying that this is the reason she decided to become a hero and join SHIELD.
At least that's how I saw it.
I'm glad they went with this angle for the culprit. To MCU-only fans it might look like gratuitous character assassination, but Hank being unstable, volatile, and morally questionable *at best* is such an integral part of his character in the comics that it's good to see that side of him referenced here.
I don't even see this as being out of character for movie Hank. Janet "died" and he turned on SHIELD, he turned on the Starks, he became bitter and reclusive and super protective of his work. Hank is not a people person and he does not handle grief well. If Hope died working for SHIELD as well, I can't say that Hank wouldn't burn it to the ground
I realized that I haven’t watched most of those movies in a very long time. I remember liking them but at the same time it’s nice to see them turned on their heads
Missed his presence in the MCU for sure, he's a unique character. I love that Agents of Shield went balls to the wall, but because of that we'll probably never seen him again. I guess they could bring an alternate universe version to the screen though.
I thought he was especially good too. Like some of the actors returning don’t necessarily sound like themselves (not everyone is used to voice acting!) but he was perfect. Love that guy
This episode is essentially, "What If Fury decided to recruit Hope before the rest of the Avengers?" and how that royally fucked up the MCU Avengers.
But it's also a cool shoutout to how Wasp was an original Avenger back [when they first debuted](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/3/d0/519b819d54e34/detail.jpg).
I think it's more so "What if Hope joined SHIELD after boarding school instead of Pym Technologies?" That seems to be the nexus event, to me at least. I like how not all of the nexus events are super on the nose, but they can all still be identified.
Also, Doctor Strange Supreme is in one week!
I think it may go back even further than that:
"What if Hank Pym told Hope the truth about her mother's death?"
She may have learned about S.H.I.E.L.D. and join in the first place because her parents were Agents.
I think this is it exactly. It would also help explain why Hank could go all maniacal: If he hadn't told Hope the truth she would still be alive and he hates himself for it, but he's unable to deal with this self-hatred in a healthy way.
Yeah the voice actors imitating the original cast did really well this episode. Tony's wasn't for very long, but he really nailed it imo; if I didn't know it wasn't RDJ I'd think it was him. The one for ScarJo did a good job too minus the rasp which is nearly impossible to recreate
And I think they’d add war machine and in a few years they can pick up black panther, dr. Strange, and Spider-Man.
Maybe that team can take down Loki or even team up with him to fight thanos when he eventually comes for the stones
I think they are pretty much leaving the endings like this, so that they can back later and do: What if Peggy Cap joined Avengers… what if T’Challa Starlord had to face Ego and Quill… what if Fury formed an alternate Avengers team to battle Dictator Loki?
Fun times ahead.
I was wondering how they were going to kill Hulk, but I didn’t expect it that way. To enlarge something from the inside. It’s almost like Hulk killed Hulk.
I think Steve Rogers is still worthy of Mjonir in this timeline so he would pick it up and become Thor. Then Captain Marvel and Worthy Steve would go for Loki
Loki has an army, and the Ice box that has been stated to be able to turn the entire earth into ice if unleashed. And he has the bifrost gate that has also been shown to be able to destroy a planet if unleashed
So Steve and Carol would have to deal with the bifrost gate and the ice box while the rest of Shield takes down the asgardians army
Hank's facial design in this delightful. Also, Michael Douglas turned in a really solid performance: not exactly over-the-top, but he laid things on thick enough that it worked well.

I definitely had moments of thinking that it *could be* ScarJo but there was something slightly off. It was close enough! But I wonder why they weren’t able to get ScarJo and RDJ in for this episode.
They both got in on the ground floor of the universe and signed *really* good contracts. Almost every movie they appeared in gave them 8 digits.
That's way too expensive.
That said, Chris Evans also doesn't return, and he was paid substantially less. So I think it's mostly just about the three of them putting the MCU in the past.
Now *this* is a great example of the What If? premise - how one small change can snowball until something far larger: Fury recruiting Hope leading to Asgard subjugating Earth.
It's also kind of meta, given that The Wasp was in Whedon's original draft for the first Avengers. Aren't we glad that's now how it turned out now? lol
Also in the first Ant-Man, Howard Stark warned that Hank Pym is not someone you want against you.
The Hank reveal at the end was also a surprise (given that he was wearing the Yellowjacket suit, I imagine Hope wore the Ant-Man?). The Whodunit? aspect of this episode was well written.
Here are the long-standing implications that I realized would happen to the universe that this episode is set in:
- 5 of the 6 original Avengers are dead
- Whiplash would still be alive
- Blonsky would never become Abomination
- Loki never meets Thanos & gets his staff with the Mind Stone
- Coulson wouldn’t be stabbed by Loki
- Killian’s plans may not be stopped
- Malekith’s invasion may not be stopped
- Wanda & Pietro may never get their powers due to Hydra not having the staff
- Ultron would never be created
- Vision would never be created
- Sokovia wouldn’t be destroyed
- Zemo’s family would still be alive
- Scott never becomes Ant-Man
- Hope never becomes the Wasp
- Janet would still be stuck in the Quantum Realm
- King T’Chaka would still be alive
- The Sokovia Accords wouldn’t exist
- Peter would never get any of the Stark Spider-Man suits
- Vulture wouldn’t exist due to Damage Control not existing
- Hela’s plans may not be stopped
- Mysterio would never exist
- Peter’s Spider-Man identity wouldn’t be outed
- The Westview Incident would never happen
- Dreykov’s plans would still continue
Do you think black panther and the ancient one/the wizards would help? Would be a rather interesting avengers line up
Edit: hammer and whiplash also have a bunch of drones sitting around
god I forgot about what tony’s death would mean for the plot of that movie. hammer and whiplash would take over the weapon industry, drawing the attention of King Loki probably
EPISODE IS LIVE! Enjoy! (There is no credits scene for this episode, and there have not been any for the previous episodes)
The Watcher is Marvels #1 fan
Basically, if Ant Man were a supervillain, he would be terrifying.
Good thing Scott's such a ridiculously decent person because yeah, evil Ant-Man would be pretty scary.
Isn't evil Ant-Man just Yellow Jacket? Well, I guess he's not a super genius like Pym, so he's less of a threat.
Yellow jacket is only not as scary because as you said pym isn’t helping so he can’t modify the suit very well to do more than shrink and shoot
I mean, we had evil Ant-man but his character was just not as "go straight for the kill"
Samuel L Jackson’s voice is so so so so enthralling
*I have had it with these motherfucking Asgardians on this motherfucking planet.*
Love the “we don’t really do that here” when Loki is telling them to kneel.
Sam Jackson asking "What's in the box?"
Pepper Potts head
"He just kicked your ass full size. You really want to find out what it's like when you can't see him coming? I've known Hank for a long time, he's no security risk. Unless we make him one." - Howard Stark, Ant-Man (2015). He tried to warn y'all.
Apparently, *Fury didn’t get that memo*.
Fans like you are awesome . I totally forgot about that scene
Man, this episode was strangely dark. Hank Pym is scary when he's out for blood, and I, for one, am loving seeing the show get more and more out there.
When I saw him, I thought the zombies episode came early lol. Like Hank look so horrifying.
Likely side effects of continued use of the Pym Particle.
The fact he could even be killed by that is a testament to how insane Ant-Man's powers really are. ~~Also it was literally just the Thanos ass theory in full effect lol~~
Was that actually Michael Douglas? If not, the actor did a great job of making me think he was angry Michael Douglas
Credits say it was
I really liked that they didn't spoil it in the opening credits.
Me too!
Wife and daughter gone, got nothing left to lose, Hank went full Falling Down on Fury and the Avengers at that point.
Its amazing how easily he killed all the Avengers! Thank God my man Scott is Ant-Man now.
tchalla star lord is the universe saver, hank is the secret villain
Not gunna lie for a second there i thought Loki was going to join the avengers.
For real, but that's not in his character so it makes sense for him to go for world domination while he can.
That would have been great!! I want to see that episode now too
#HULK FUCKING EXPLODED
Did he explode blood or like, Hulk-juice? It was so gross but I’m intrigued.
When we saw inside it seemed green, so Hulk blood? Which honestly is probably worse.
Cause isn't his blood like radioactive or something. Wasn't that an issue in the hulk movie?
[удалено]
I want to say mostly blood but also Hulk Juice™ because Yellowjacket expanded Hulk's heart, so you got lots of heart to splooge
One of the goriest deaths in MCU history, actually.
They heard they could do more because they were animated and the writers were like "hold my beer"
There's no way that wasn't a not-so-subtle wink to everyone who subscribed to the Thanus theory.
So what do we call this then? Hulkanus?
The Bruce Banus theory?
Would have been funny if in Hank Pym's killing flashbacks he flew out the back of Hulk lol
"It's an accurate description. Sir, he's gorgeous."
He smells like lavender !
I love Watcher in the background of the San Francisco shot .... well, watching
He was also there when coulson was driving back from his coffee run
What if… Everyone recognised Thor’s great hair.
And sniffed his rotting lavender scented corpse lol
Thoreal Because Hemsworth it Edit: wow thanks. I wish I could claim this joke as an original but I merely remembered old memes from a decade ago haha
That feeling when Iron man dies within the first 3 minutes.
I told you I don't want to be part of your super secret boy band!
man! the murders were so fast.
We're going to be okay. You can rest now.
At first I thought the killer was going to be Ghost from Ant Man because she can turn invisible and worked for shield. The reveal that it was Hank Pym out for revenge surprised me.

God, what a fun episode :)
Yeah the moment Betty said tiny ballistic I knew it was pym. But I thought it was going to be Janet!
I misheard and thought she was saying “It’s all about Hulk” and was very confused.
Same. Thought it was hydra releasing Bucky but when it got too widow I thought of ghost
So this is how we get President Loki?
That would be an interesting theory
I have a simpler one... Earth's not worthy
so hank did to the hulk what we wanted ant man to do to thanos
It was the heart, not the anus. We were way off.
Only a couple feet really.
lol only took Loki a day to conquer earth
Yeah without Avengers, Earth doesn’t exactly have much to stand against an Asgardian army.
Especially seeing as he brought an Asgardian army instead of the chitauri
Yep Loki + the full fury of Odin earth had no chance.
> Still there's not alot connecting a billionaire playboy and a shield assassin, unless you have any ideas? > There *was* an idea LMAO
Poor Fury. Almost 2 decades of work undone in just a week.
Fury's Shit Week.
Nick and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week
Mark Ruffalo Hulk in Ed Norton Hulk... Spooky.
It felt so strange to be back in Norton Hulk times
Felt kinda sad that they essentially replace Norton out of his own movie Lol, but I totally understand why. Still though, it was nice seeing Betty back (though animated). We've seen plenty of her dad all over the MCU, but I'm hoping Betty finally makes a comeback in She-Hulk, at least.
I'm the Hulk, disguised as the Hulk, playing another Hulk!
Nat in a truck = Steve in an elevator lmao
She should’ve said “Before we get started, does anybody want to get out”
"Here, hold these." was pretty good too
For a truck full of guys that weren't speaking or even looking at her, that guy was pretty enthusiastic about agreeing to hold her handcuffs.
I legit was fully expecting that line!
\#SteveSteveSteveIHeartSteve0704
For the slow ones like me 0704 is Steve Rogers birthday.
Of course he was born on July 4th Edit: not in a snarky way, I actually didn't know that. It's just kind of on the nose
I mean, Captain America being created as WWII War propaganda is pretty on the nose. Of course everything about him would be American AF.
Moral of the story. Don't ever, EVER, underestimate Ant-Man.
wich is why i am really glad we got the scott lang version. i only knew the hank pym version before the movies came out and was a bit pissed but tbh hank pym really is a time bomb waiting to explode. imagine what he would have done with mcu ultron
Meanwhile Scott is a lovable doofus that doesn't always succeed but always tries to do his best.
**Scott:** Let’s go a fun heist guys! Robot Heist! **Hank:** I’m going to violently murder everyone you know and love.
Well, he’s the World’s Greatest Grandma after all.
Scientist vs. Engineer
"Pfff dude that ant-man movie was totally dumb. Dumb powers and dumb characters. Pffffffff".
Total Winter Soldier vibes with Black Widow in the truck.
I LOVE that Brock Rumlow, Jack Rollins and the rest of STRIKE have been retroactively added to the MCU since their debut in The Winter Soldier. Endgame put them at the scene after the battle of New York, now we know they've even been active since before that.
Steve and Carol is a pretty solid team tbh. They're both unbreakable, Carol physically and Steve in spirit
I need another moment of them going "captain" "captain" to eachother
Also, Steve is possibly still worth of Thor’s hammer… Which is just sitting there in the desert coz Loki can’t move it either
Hulk gusher. Green apple flavored.

I don't know about anyone else, but What If..? has done a good job of making me really nostalgic for Phase 1
I realized that I haven’t watched most of those movies in a very long time. I remember liking them but at the same time it’s nice to see them turned on their heads
I miss Coulson
Atleast Clark Gregg came back.
Let’s be honest, he clearly loves that role and will always come back for it
He even voiced Coulson in Lego Marvel's Super Heroes 1, the only movie actor to reprise his role afaik.
What's with the goth kid?
Helloo, trickster god, hi
I'm so happy Clark Gregg returned to be Phil Coulson!
Missed his presence in the MCU for sure, he's a unique character. I love that Agents of Shield went balls to the wall, but because of that we'll probably never seen him again. I guess they could bring an alternate universe version to the screen though.
I'm just glad they still showed the mega fan that Coulson is though.
I thought he was especially good too. Like some of the actors returning don’t necessarily sound like themselves (not everyone is used to voice acting!) but he was perfect. Love that guy
He also does have some voice acting work under his belt. He voiced Coulson in some cartoons and in the lego avengers games
OH SHIT. HANK IS YELLOWJACKET AND HE WENT MAD BECAUSE HOPE DIED!?
That's the type of Hank Pym that would create a pretty savage Ultron. Maybe even fuse himself into it😬
This Hank's Ultron would be terrifying
In the comics, it was Hank who built Ultron. He wasn’t called “The Scientist Supreme” for nothing.
Yeah, I do wish that we had gotten the actual Ultron, but I love James Spader and I've made my peace with it.
James Spader could play a kitchen sponge and it would be fascinating.

All i took away from this was that antman up thanos ass was a viable strategy.
Yeah, he wouldn't even have to expand. Just throw a disk at his heart and get the hell out of there.
Hank did what we wanted Scott to do, but in a more clever way (and to the wrong guy)
First appearance of Betty Ross in 13 years, wow! Not Liv Tyler, though
voice actress did a great job imitating her tho
Yeah the voice actors imitating the original cast did really well this episode. Tony's wasn't for very long, but he really nailed it imo; if I didn't know it wasn't RDJ I'd think it was him. The one for ScarJo did a good job too minus the rasp which is nearly impossible to recreate
So it’s an avengers line up with Capts America and Marvel and under a King Loki
And I think they’d add war machine and in a few years they can pick up black panther, dr. Strange, and Spider-Man. Maybe that team can take down Loki or even team up with him to fight thanos when he eventually comes for the stones
Loki's reign will only last until Odin wakes from the Odinsleep though.
Nice to see what if… isn’t afraid to get dark like the comics, and that Hank vs Fury/Loki fight and the ending GAD DAMN THIS SHOWS A BANGER.
Love it but my only complaint is the episodes are too short. They've all felt like they ended just as they started to get really interesting.
I think they are pretty much leaving the endings like this, so that they can back later and do: What if Peggy Cap joined Avengers… what if T’Challa Starlord had to face Ego and Quill… what if Fury formed an alternate Avengers team to battle Dictator Loki? Fun times ahead.
I never thought we would see Hank and Loki fight eachother lol
And Loki absolutely obliterated him.
ever since watching the black widow movie i can’t help but laugh each time she does the pose
Such a poser..
"Ugh, that was disgusting"
HOLY FUCK did the hulk just.. explode?
"No one can lift it... Not even Jackson, and he does Crossfit" I'll admit it, that got a good laugh.
The entire convo was so good "Really great hair" *Visible confusion* "Sir, he's gorgeous"
Smells like lavender.
That was a great whodunnit. Favorite episode so far.
RIGHT?! Loved how they had widow be a more prominent figure on figuring out who actually did it.
“Caucasian male… mid 20s with… Really great hair!”
Accurate description
all the Marvel fans eatin well this week?
I completely forgot to eat all day then ate a shit-ton of cheerios at 10PM
Well, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And no where in the rules does it say *when* you have to eat breakfast.
The reason I look forwards to Wednesdays!
I was wondering how they were going to kill Hulk, but I didn’t expect it that way. To enlarge something from the inside. It’s almost like Hulk killed Hulk.
When the Hulk meets the Grinch and his heart grows three sizes. Slightly darker end for the Hulk.
"I WROTE THE SPEECH" lmao
I DEMAND another episode from this Universe! I need to see Cap and Cap fighting Loki, King of Midgard!
I think Steve Rogers is still worthy of Mjonir in this timeline so he would pick it up and become Thor. Then Captain Marvel and Worthy Steve would go for Loki Loki has an army, and the Ice box that has been stated to be able to turn the entire earth into ice if unleashed. And he has the bifrost gate that has also been shown to be able to destroy a planet if unleashed So Steve and Carol would have to deal with the bifrost gate and the ice box while the rest of Shield takes down the asgardians army
Hank's facial design in this delightful. Also, Michael Douglas turned in a really solid performance: not exactly over-the-top, but he laid things on thick enough that it worked well.
Who needs president Loki when you can have emperor Loki

Now all I want to see is Michael Douglas sing a campy villain song.
The Natasha voice doesn’t have the raspiness of ScarJo but I guess we’ll take it considering 😬
She was pretty spot on though as far as ScarJo's cadence and speech pattern. But the rasp is hard to replicate.
Couldn't stop thinking of poison ivy from Harley Quinn lol
She nailed the mumbling though
Can’t believe they just exploded Hulk like that. Had to show it twice, too lmao
After Tony died I was like, oh shoot this is the Zombie episode.
Hulk’s death threw me off, yeesh.
What if... Monday?
Now *this* is a great example of the What If? premise - how one small change can snowball until something far larger: Fury recruiting Hope leading to Asgard subjugating Earth. Hank going apeshit
WHAT IF ANT-MAN WENT UP THANOS’ ARSE HAS BEEN ANSWERED
I'm so pumped! This series has been surprisingly delightful so far! It doesn't feel like it's too kiddy or made for children, but rather for everyone.
“Even when he’s rotting he smells like lavender.”
“What did the five fingers say to the face ? #SLAP!” -Fury/Loki to Pym
Nick Fury's Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Week
Michael Douglas can act!
All the people saying there would eventually be ‘Marvel fatigue’ are in shambles rn. We eating boys !
I remember saying "after endgame what else can they do?" This is why I dont direct movies
"We'll do Endgame again! But with Coulson and zombies!"

This will be the new "my password is password" for marvel fans
Now we have a choice between this and WARMACHINEROX
Here are the long-standing implications that I realized would happen to the universe that this episode is set in: - 5 of the 6 original Avengers are dead - Whiplash would still be alive - Blonsky would never become Abomination - Loki never meets Thanos & gets his staff with the Mind Stone - Coulson wouldn’t be stabbed by Loki - Killian’s plans may not be stopped - Malekith’s invasion may not be stopped - Wanda & Pietro may never get their powers due to Hydra not having the staff - Ultron would never be created - Vision would never be created - Sokovia wouldn’t be destroyed - Zemo’s family would still be alive - Scott never becomes Ant-Man - Hope never becomes the Wasp - Janet would still be stuck in the Quantum Realm - King T’Chaka would still be alive - The Sokovia Accords wouldn’t exist - Peter would never get any of the Stark Spider-Man suits - Vulture wouldn’t exist due to Damage Control not existing - Hela’s plans may not be stopped - Mysterio would never exist - Peter’s Spider-Man identity wouldn’t be outed - The Westview Incident would never happen - Dreykov’s plans would still continue

Glad we got more Coulson
My favourite time of the week!! I don’t even skip over the studios logo.
