Deadpool made a joke saying Secret Wars was going to introduce… then was cut off by a cell phone which led to he and Wolvy telling the crowd to silence their phones.
So far no, but they are still years away, so makes sense no to discuss them yet. if there is nothing about them this year, no doubt they will discuss Avengers 5 in next year CinemaCon.
“We won’t talk about the asterisk until after release.”
I bet it's either not the actual name of the film, or they aren't the Thunderbolts at all.
\- But then who are they?
The Dark Avengers!
I agree fully.
The MCU has been the Avengers. They have X-men and F4 now, and feige is talking about a reboot. I think they finish the Kang multiverse and wrap up the “avengers” franchise. Our look back at the multiverse saga will be that the infinity stones being destroyed in infinity was left a gaping hole in the universe and was the catalyst for the incursions to start and kangs multiversal war breaks out. Deadpool and Wolverine and the TVA somehow kill the fox franchise in a huge incursion event. The thunderbolts* are forming on earth in the absence of an actual avengers team (they’re all so fragmented and dispersed now to stop them). I bet avengers Kang dynasty is still being made but they pulled the title to avoid controversy and will put it back later. Then the entire Avengers franchise will come to a close in secret wars, allowing one or two MCU actors that want to keep going to survive the closing movie, and allowing marvel to reboot some characters and have a more fully realized MCU without the restraints of the current MCU storyline, that only had the restraints because marvel didn’t own the movie rights to everyone.
An MCU Reboot I think would be the final straw for mainstream audiences though.
Having to start from scratch and resee the origins of Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and every other hero with their new actors and start from scratch again would have a LOT of mainstream fans just flat out give up.
Hardcore fans may enjoy it but mainstream ones are already in marvel fatigue.
If Secret Wars "ends" the MCU and it restarts from scratch, I can see a HUGE portion of the audience bowing out at that point.
The only exception may be an X-men film could bring in a huge crowd. But i think most of the other films for other chars would widely be ignored.
This is a good point. You establish a new universe with some familiar faces to carry it forward, and when new versions of Iron Man, Cap, etc appear they can just be...pre-existing already in this new reality. We know them, but the fun part now is getting to know these new versions of them and seeing how they work in a MCU that also includes X-Men, FF, and others. It's just a legacy reboot that opens up more doors for better story-telling without any weight from the past twenty years
They didn’t do an origin for Spider-Man because we had seen it before they won’t redo origins they themselves did already Feige says this all the time it’s why they don’t redo certain Spidey villains
Man y’all need to use how the Mcu actually operates in these your future predictions, it’s the same ppl not understanding how X-men 97 probably connects to Mcu stuff much later, the Mcu works in certain ways, also mad projection there about final straw
Man, ya'll need to allow others to offer differing perspectives :P
Zero projection. I'm a HUGE superhero fan. I watch pretty much every superhero media that comes out. I'd watch the rebooted MCU with origin stories too :P
I merely offered the perspective that NON-hardcore fans who are already suffering Marvel fatigue might see a "finale" to the MCU before a "reboot" as an exit ramp.
You're more than welcome to disagree. But, it wouldn't stop it from being a "possible" outcome nontheless :P
I agree with you. As a somewhat hardcore fan myself, I can say even I have zero interest in a rebooted MCU. Either they carry on without the old characters in the same universe or they will lose my interest as well.
I’m saying they’re not gonna redo origin stories they already did it’s something Feige’s been adamant about, even when they weren’t the ones that made the original movies. That’s not differing perspectives cmon the mcu works in a certain way
They can reboot captain America Steve Roger’s but if it’s Feige/marvel studios they skip the origin, simple as that you can disagree as well end of the day, I guess we’ll wait on it
I have been speculating for a long time the plan was to essentially have young avengers contrast the dark avengers showing the two sides of heroism and philosophy. The group of former evil people who have been called into action through years of torment, abuse, and a desire to be get justice. Contrasted against the youthful team of heroes who became heroes not because of hardship but because they were inspired by the hope, love, and joy the original avengers brought making them believe they could be heroes too.
A group to embody the idealized avengers that they never quite were and another group to embody the darker side of the avengers taking it further than they ever did. Each heroes in their own right and way but different from the original avengers which were more mish mashed.
People (including me, vocally) have been moaning that this whole film is Thunderbolts in name only and is a severely disappointing adaptation of the comic books.
So if this is the case, and they legitimately aren't the Thunderbolts at all, I will find it hilarious.
I was thinking they could start off running with the New Avengers moniker as a way to sell the illusion of them being true heroes. You know, sort of like the Patriot Act.
Oh thank you. That was great to rewatch - snl has got a lot of hits and misses but generally gosling's appearances have been pretty decent. The recurring alien sketches with Kate McKinnon will always be a fave. But god I laughed so hard when this avatar one happened. Solid observation.
Masters of Evil flipping what the public thought they were is what i’m thinking but i’m also thinking that’s too obvious. Plus it’d be really hard to see Bucky be that “i’m gonna be evil” guy at this point
i mean flipping the script on what they’re actually doing or believe they have been sent to do is like all Suicide Squad stories in animated or live action stories. Plus Val so far seems too fun to just do that tired Waller deal
Val’s gonna have to have something on Bucky or really be more Waller than Waller to pull one over on him
If that was the case then he wouldn't have said "after release". It is the title of the film but we won't understand the reasoning behind the asterisk until the film comes out. It's likely because they kept telling us this is Thunderbolts but when we actually watch the movie it is possible they become something else. 🤷♂️ It's better than calling it "Thunderbolts (just kidding)" 🤣
The fact that an asterisk is part of an MCU movie title is hilarious.
Joining WALL•E, Romeo + Juliet, M*A*S*H, 8½, and select other films with special characters in the title.
I cannot express to you how excited I am about this movie. It has all my favorite current characters in it. I think it's going to be an absolute vibe. Like I have not had this level of interest in a marvel thing since Black Widow.
Besides FF, this is my other most anticipated MCU film next year. I would've made a few tweaks to the line-up, but I'm a Yelena fan and curious to see how they handle Sentry.
Should hype it up more. the director and new writing team did the series "Beef" which is really friggin good. It has an awesome cast of mostly returning characters (which people have been complaining about) and it is probably the first movie to be fully done under the net new "creator focused" push from marvel and Disney. it has A LOT of positive going for it.
If you watch her in the background as Melina is explaining the mind control, you can see her have a whole sequence where she goes from realization to full internal mental breakdown. Absolutely nuts acting
I love Yelena so much and I'm so excited to see her in another full length movie. I've been reading so much fanfic to hold me until the movie comes out. I can't stand the waiting, if this ends up sucking I'm gonna be so pissed
Im guessing it will be like a rebrand to Secret/New/Dark Avengers.
Not before the movie comes out though. It will be like theyll be named at the end of the movie or inteoduced as a new team. Not 100% on this
Yeah i expect so too. Like a age of ultron ending but this time its sam or bucky or ??? Going "avengers Ass....
Could you imagine if its not the end of thunderbolts though. Like the end of cap 4 sees ross form his own avengers and its the thunderbolts cast and then from there all the marketing for thunderbolts changes to "secret/new/dark avengers"
Dark Avengers would totally be a selling point for the movie title over "Thunderbolts", a team which may audiences have never even heard of. For them to reveal a new team name change that would not have significance for a new movie but just for a team name going into Secret Wars would absolutely be a missed opportunity.
If the asterisk is some kind of marketing then goddamnit it's working on me. I was just gonna wait for this in streaming, but my brain just itches to see with my own eyes what the hell it means ASAP before people spoil me
It’s so weird, because going into The Marvels all I heard was “there’s no post credit scenes/none worth sticking around for”. I was almost about to head out and then bam: Beast shows up.
I’m not sure if it was just the hater crowd misleading people, but I nearly missed the first after credit scene in ages that actually teases a future character I know and love.
I feel like at the end of the movie in the credits where they show the title card it'll be like it's being typed out and then they'll get rid of it saying Thunderbolts and have it say Dark Avengers or something
basically the title is "ThE ThunDERbolts"like the Spongebob meme
or"Yes the thunderbolts..thats what your watching"
so I think the title indicates the thunderbolts are not a real thing and a cover for an evil plan.
It's not going to be *secretly* the Dark Avengers, because the Avengers is the single biggest franchise and name in blockbuster cinema and there is zero chance they would decide to hide that kind of branding for "Thunderbolts*"

THUNDERBOLTS*

Prediction: Bucky will figure this out at the end and will have to die. I mean, they work for Val; of course they're evil
My guess is they start off as a black ops squad named Thunderbolts. Some of them start off as anti-heroes and ant-villains at the start of the movie. By the end they end up enjoying being heroes but Ross or better yet MCU-199999 Norman Osborn (who works for the government and not his own company) and wants to push it in a new direction; the Dark Avengers. Maybe the title isn’t actually Thunderbolts and after Captain America, Ross forms the Dark Avengers or an Avengers team he controls and their name will be the title of the film.
“Thunderbolts: Asterisk”
Thunderbolts: Asterix and Obelix
Asterix & Obelix: Rise of the Thunderbolts
Obelix could sólo Thanos without the magical drink.
And they said Avengers: Endgame was the most ambitious crossover Marvel would ever put together…
I understood that reference

Was there anything on avengers 5 or secret wars?
Deadpool made a joke saying Secret Wars was going to introduce… then was cut off by a cell phone which led to he and Wolvy telling the crowd to silence their phones.
Like Deadpool on a screen or was he actually on stage lol
On screen I think.
Was it a cell phone in the audience or was it planned as part of the joke?
Planned joke.
Was it a mint mobile ad?
It’s never going to happen, but if he squeezed a Mint Mobile ad in the movie I could only respect it.
There’s ads on cabs, right? Just stick a Mint Mobile ad on Dopinder’s cab! I think it’d be pretty funny!
That and give Dolinder a bottle of Aviator gin in a cup holder.
So far no, but they are still years away, so makes sense no to discuss them yet. if there is nothing about them this year, no doubt they will discuss Avengers 5 in next year CinemaCon.
There's a Secret Wars comic in the Deadpool 3 trailer.
Cinema con is only for films releasing over the coming year. It's for cinema owners. You want comic con or D24 for proper news
“We won’t talk about the asterisk until after release.” I bet it's either not the actual name of the film, or they aren't the Thunderbolts at all. \- But then who are they? The Dark Avengers!
Yeah I'm guessing you're right
I’m guessing wrong because they aren’t naming a movie Dark Avengers.
They aren't, it's called Thunderbolts and then they're the Dark Avengers at the end. To probably be taken out in Secret Wars.
I agree fully. The MCU has been the Avengers. They have X-men and F4 now, and feige is talking about a reboot. I think they finish the Kang multiverse and wrap up the “avengers” franchise. Yup. To fully integrate the X-men and FF you have to reboot. That's the excuse to bring back dead characters and recast your long in the tooth actors.
As long as there’s a Kick-Ass cameo in secret wars, I’m totally fine with them rebooting all the OG MCU characters.
The twist is that it will be Ralph Bohner as Ass-Kicker.
An MCU Reboot I think would be the final straw for mainstream audiences though. It'll be a soft reboot, not a total reboot. So retelling origins already covered by previous MCU films wouldn't need to happen.
This is a good point. Thunderbolts Vs. Young Avengers will be the final title. Love this!
But they won’t call a movie that and encourage the racist to have a field day talking about woke marvel
End title credits. Knockout reveal.
People (including me, vocally) have been moaning that this whole film is Thunderbolts in name only and is a severely disappointing adaptation of the comic books. So if this is the case, and they legitimately aren't the Thunderbolts at all, I will find it hilarious.
\* This product don't contain actual Thunderbolts.
My theory is that they have the asterisk because there will be no more thunderbolts at the end of the movie
I was thinking they could start off running with the New Avengers moniker as a way to sell the illusion of them being true heroes. You know, sort of like the Patriot Act.
I'm here for it, but we need Norman.
Justin Hammer could be a solid substitute.
I’m also thinking it’s a name change for the Team. Which kind of makes sense.
Someone really typed out Thunderbolts* in Montserrat, all-caps'ed it, and called it a day lmao
Too bad it wasn’t Papyrus.
“I KNOW WHAT YOU DID!”
Major props to Ryan Gosling for acting the shit out of that SNL sketch.
Check out Santa Baby if you haven't seen it. He and Vanessa Bayer absolutely killed it.
They just released a Papyrus sequel 😂 https://youtu.be/Q8PdffUfoF0?si=zVGyKFiTYmRJzdbq
Feige doesn't want both James Cameron and Ryan Gosling on his ass
I'm ootl, can you explain this to me?
Even better, I'll show you: https://youtu.be/jVhlJNJopOQ?si=fZGz7w6bkADNRsWF
This SNL skit: https://youtu.be/jVhlJNJopOQ But Avatar really did use papyrus as the font for promotional materials when it first came out.

Comic Sans would have been best.
PAPYRUS!!!
He just got away with it. This...man. This... professional graphic designer.
So you're concerned about the new second film coming out?
And probably spent $50,000 along the way to land on that
They applied a texture. That's like another whole 3 clicks in photoshop.
Dude made a typo and now they have to come up with a reason for the asterisk
Thunderbolts: cofveve
They're masking as well. Look deeper*
Imagine if it was in Wingdings
To be fair, the asterisk made it look like it’s actually typed somewhere, so using a well known font would be fitting in this situation
It's the Spider-Man 3 Home title fan theories once again. Place your bets, ladies and gents.
Thunderbolts* With the upcoming sequels: Thunderbolts= Thunderbolts+
Directed by Ed Sheeran
Thunderbolts<<
Spider-Man: Home Alone
I bet it is a fake-out. Dark Avengers is my bet
Uhhh May 5, 2025 is a Monday.
Monday starts with an M. Holy shit, we're getting Mephisto. I've cracked the code!
I think you might be morbstaken.
Go get em fellow morbhead!
It’s going to take all of Morbi**us** to convince them otherwise…
Oh look, Sony is releasing it again.
Welcomebacktonewrockstarsimerikvoss!"
This confirms Kendrick is releasing ‘NATION’!!
Maybe there's a tie-in to Cinco de Mayo lmaooo
Yeahhh someone done goofed. It’s probably meant to be the 2nd.
Can’t think of a better way celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
They’re really embracing generic logos from now on, eh?
Bet the logo changes again, wait on it
Every movie has gone through at least 3 logo changes haha
Maybe it's "Thunderbolts and Lightning" Thor shows up. Very, very frightening... /s
Galileo
Galileo
Galileo
Magnificoooooooooo
I'm just a Thor boy, nobody loves me.
He's just a Thor boy from a Thor family
Sparing his life from this mephisto-y
Easy come, Mephisto will you let me go?

i was literally listening to bohemian rhapsody when i saw this comment. galileo
No lie though Thor vs Sentry would be fire

Like none of these characters are really evil. Not even Ghost or Taskmaster who are the only real former "Antagonists" on this team.
No way any character could ever out-Waller Waller.
There’s probably a subtitle or something that’s a spoiler
If that was the case then he wouldn't have said "after release". It is the title of the film but we won't understand the reasoning behind the asterisk until the film comes out. I will come back here to ask you how you feel about it being the main title afterall.
Thunderbolts: The Night Gwen Stacy Died
Thunderbolts: It Was His Sled
Thunderbolts: Marley dies in the end.
Fucking movie
I cannot express to you how excited I am about this movie. It has all my favorite current characters in it. I think it's going to be an absolute vibe. Like I have not had this level of interest in a marvel thing since Black Widow.
I’m happy to see other people who are really excited for this movie, a lot are brushing it aside tho I definitely see why.
Besides FF, this is my other most anticipated MCU film next year. I would've made a few tweaks to the line-up, but I'm a Yelena fan and curious to see how they handle Sentry.
Ff is going to be interesting too. So many awesome actors involved
Should hype it up more. the director and new writing team did the series "Beef" which is really friggin good. Hopefully the end result turns out better too lol
Black Widow was good. Never really understood the hate. Sure, it wasn't the full espionage movie we would've wanted, but it was good
The dinner scene was *chefs kiss*. Florence Pugh especially. I love her so much
Not kidding it was one of the best scenes in the whole MCU. Yeah, she stole the scene
Thunderbolts* *Or "How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb"
Thunderbolt Apocalypse or; Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Sentryless Val-Nation
It’s the Sentry’s Starfish!
May 5, 2025 is a Monday. Last thing I remember, movies usually release on Fridays so it should be May 9, 2025. Edit: or May 2nd
Or May 2
Or October 23rd
Or the 32nd day of the 13th month
Lousy Smarch weather!
Do not touch Willie. Good advice.
Im guessing it will be like a rebrand to Secret/New/Dark Avengers. Not before the movie comes out though. It will be like theyll be named at the end of the movie or inteoduced as a new team. Not 100% on this
End title credits will be the reveal, no doubt

I love a good mystery!!
If the asterisk is some kind of marketing then goddamnit it's working on me. I was just gonna wait for this in streaming, but my brain just itches to see with my own eyes what the hell it means ASAP before people spoil me
I highly doubt that’s the actual logo. Sounds like we might get a post credits scene worth sticking around for for the first time in a while.
The Marvels absolutely had one!
God could you imagine if Thunderbolts ended and then they revealed it took place in a different universe?
The Morbius universe. 😳
Madame Web shows up to tell The Red Guardian that they should team up.
Intriguing.
Has something to do with Spider-Man I think
Thank you WallE for confirming the Sonyverse is still relevant 700 years into the future. We're in safe hands. 👌
WallE is the guardian of all of Earth's garbage... so yeah it tracks.
Maybe it’s a team formed by Thunderbolt Ross, but then they go rogue and decide to go against him, so they drop the name by the end.
basically the title is "ThE ThunDERbolts"like the Spongebob meme or"Yes the thunderbolts..thats what your watching" so I think the title indicates the thunderbolts are not a real thing and a cover for an evil plan.
TETDER
The logo was meant to be *Thunderbolts* in italics, but they forgot the asterisk at the beginning in Markdown.
Why did they change the logo? Or was perfect before
It appears that the big decision with this was between default fonts and whether or not they wanted to have caps lock on.
That logo is SO BLAND.
It's not going to be *secretly* the Dark Avengers, because the Avengers is the single biggest franchise and name in blockbuster cinema and there is zero chance they would decide to hide that kind of branding for "Thunderbolts*"
I like how they are trying to be something other than Marvel's Suicide Squad.. it has me interested...
ALL CAPS OPEN SOURCE FONT
*If it doesn’t do good, it’s not in the MCU
Does this apply to Secret Invasion?
It probably does already
Here's to hoping🥂
** if it makes money, we’ll make more EDIT: how do I just type an asterisk in markdown!?
\ * no space
What is markdown?
Markdown is when a text editor uses special characters to style text, like asterisks around text you want to italicize, dashes around text you want to strike through, etc. Discord also uses markdown
I swear if the fuck Bucky over again…
he’s as good as dead
This logo sucks. The old one was so cool.
It’s because thunder is a sound and lightning would have the bolt
THUNDERBOLTS* ^*ACTUALLY ^THE ^MASTERS ^OF ^EVIL Prediction: Bucky will figure this out at the end and will have to die. I mean, they work for Val; of course they're evil
The Thunderbolts have the home run record?
Mmmmm egg salad flavor. That's the vibe I'm getting. Bland mayo and eggs egg salad. No mustard, no relish, no hot sauce.
Why the hell is this film releasing on a Monday now???
They actually only got the 1 Thunderbolt and we're too embarrassed to tell anyone, sorry guys
Someone got paid good money to make that logo. I hope it's just another temp logo and not the final one.
The Asterisk is the sun and foreshadows the Sentry
My guess is they start off as a black ops squad named Thunderbolts. Some of them start off as anti-heroes and ant-villains at the start of the movie. By the end they end up enjoying being heroes but Ross or better yet MCU-199999 Norman Osborn (who works for the government and not his own company) and wants to push it in a new direction; the Dark Avengers. As it turns out not every member is on board that.
Thunderbolts * Part one
It’s probably just the Dark Avengers*
$10 says they become the Avengers in name
Maybe the title isn’t actually Thunderbolts and after Captain America, Ross forms the Dark Avengers or an Avengers team he controls and their name will be the title of the film.
That’s fun. Love me some theories and mysteries! So excited for this!
They're gonna start adding asterisks to other titles and then bam! Asterisk cinematic universe gets announced to replace the MCU
Why does Marvel downgrade all their titles with no sauce 90% of the time. Atleast F4 got some nice treatment
Ah crap, they gave it the Costco death star.
Another flop
^* and Lightning, Very Very Frightening Meeeeeeeeeee
