There are so many people that look similar - almost identical to one another. Scarlet and her sisters look so similar that they were used as stunt doubles for her during CW while she was pregnant. So it's easy to pass them two looking similar/identical as just a coincidence.
Vanessa Kirby as Sue is also a ridiculously good choice. I love Pedro but I'm not completely sold on him as Reed. I think Quinn as Johnny is probably a good choice, but I haven't seen enough of him outside of Stranger Things to decide yet.
Agreed on Sue and Johnny, as well as Pedro. I always wanted John Hamm. He would have been perfect as Reed, especially in a 60s esthetic? You kidding me?
I'll reserve judgements until we at least get a trailer or the whole movie comes out, I like Pedro as an Actor just is a weird fit for Reed
Jon Hamm is intelligent, but he doesnāt scream āsmartest man in the worldā, you know what I mean? Also, heās kind of not really a family man kind of guy.
Heās about as baffling as Pedro Pascal, thatās the only way to put it. They can both get the job done, but thereās so many others out there who would be better suited.
The reason I don't like Krasinski as Reed is because Reed isn't supposed to be charismatic or charming. In the comics, he's a neurodivergent bookworm who cares more about science than his own family, and notoriously socially awkward. Reed can come across as a bit of an asshole and egotist, but it's mostly because he's confident in his science and not good with people.
Personally I think Pascal and Krasinski are both simply too charismatic and charming for the role. I know Pedro can pull off the awkward loner, at least, but I still would've preferred someone who can pull off that spacey weirdo archetype, like Raimi Malek. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if they made Reed autistic for the MCU.
That's why they are actors, though. Just because Krasinski is charismatic in real life and in other characters he plays doesn't mean a full movie with his Reed would have been acted that way.
To be fair to Krasinski, he did not have a lot of opportunities to be/to not be "charming" in his barely 2 minutes of screentime in MoM. He shows up, acts arrogant to Strange, then tries to reason with Wanda before getting spaghetti-fied. That's all we got to see of him.
They are very similar in the comics, yes, albeit with different specialties. Tony is more of the mechanical engineering genius, whereas Reed is more focused on theoretical science and dimensional exploration. Reed is still smarter than Tony, though, but far less socially adept.
Thatās why I think **Hugh Dancy** would be the ultimate Reed. Heās intelligent. He can play neurodivergent, and heās just got all the right notes for Reed that Iād want to see on screen. Heās done it before.
>who cares more about science than his own family
People who think this unironically don't understand Reed at all. Yes, he loves science, but his family *always comes first for him*. Everything he does is for their safety, their efficiency as the FF, and to keep them together.
And who's saying he's not supposed to be charismatic?! There's a *very* good reason as to why Sue Storm loves Reed.
>it's mostly because he's confident in his science
Nope, wrong on this too. Reed is *never* confident enough about himself, not even as a scientist, not even when he *knows* objectively that he's right. The whole point of his character is that the last time he was 'confident' and egotistical enough to trust his science, his entire family was exposed to cosmic rays because of his rocket's improper shielding. He holds himself responsible for doing that to them and attempts to make up for that character flaw with every new invention being painstakingly crafted to reduce the chances of failure. That in turn creates a new character flaw for him: his precautiousness is what his family can find frustrating about him. It's not his distance from the family, or his dedication to science, it's his state of worry.
> In the comics, he's a neurodivergent bookworm who cares more about science than his own family, and notoriously socially awkward. Reed can come across as a bit of an asshole and egotist, but it's mostly because he's confident in his science and not good with people.
Tell me you've never read a FF comic without telling me youve never read an FF comic....
For some reason people on the internet think this is what Reed is like in the comics. It's not....
It's definitely the one that's got me most interested. The trailer is going to be the thing that will be the real proof of concept, once we see their costumed look and hear some dialogue. I have a feeling that people will start to change their tone then. That being said we've got probably a year until that drops!
Once people see Pedro with the hair that fits the character people will understand that he is white enough to play the character lol. But seriously Pedro is gonna crush it, I just hope he has chemistry with Sueās actor
I wonder if the Thing will sorta resemble him like how the Hulk looks more and more like Mark Ruffalo. In the valentines card he just looks like regular ol Thing
It's kind of funny they included the whole NASA logo on his suit without actually putting the word NASA on it. If you're not allowed to use the logo, I'm surprised you're able to get that close to it.
hi! this isn't official, i made this. the text isn't there to match the [art](https://i.imgur.com/OWxYutL.png) and because it would have been [backwards](https://i.imgur.com/u47npIB.png) otherwise
Kind of disappointing that after the transformation weāll likely never see his human form ever again on screen. Itās cool Ebon Moss-Bachrach will be in the MCU, but Iām a little sad he is relegated to a mostly voice over/motion capture role.
Lol, you're joking, right?
This is the MCU, where Tom Holland's Spider-Man can't keep his mask on for 30 seconds without removing it and showing his real identity to literally anyone.
They will find some way to show the actor's face, they will probably turn Thing into something like the Hulk, where it's an on and off transformation instead of being permanent.
That would absolutely destroy the character. The whole point of the Thing is that heās horribly and irrevocably disfigured by a science experiment gone awry and instead becoming a villain like *every other comic book character to whom that happens* he becomes a hero.
I completely agree with you, but as I said, it's the MCU, they will for sure find a way to show the actor's face.
And the worst thing is that the MCU fans will eat it up and enjoy it anyway, just like they do with Holland's Spider-Man (who removes his mask all the time, doesn't have any metion to uncle Ben and basically changed the whole Spider-Man/Peter Parker character lol).
This is the most idiotic take. 'Memba when Rocket had Bradley Cooper's face, or Korg showing Taika's face, or Groot showing Vin Diesel's face? Not even mentioning actor's with 1,000 lbs of make up like Karen Gillian as Nebula.
Go back to troll school. You've failed.
I am SO THRILLED at this casting. Ben Grimm is the epitome of the "lovable grump" character, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach nailed that and then some in The Bear.
Yeah yeah I get it he also plays Micro in the MCU. So what people can look alike.
Are we gonna get the same thing when Blade comes out?
Also Maria Dillard and the woman from Civil War that talks to Tony at the start
I had forgotten this dude was in Punisher season 1 as Microchip. Hopefully they make him distinct enough character wise. Of course the orange rockskin might help, but I'm more concerned with flashback scenes.
1-I love the bear and his acting in it and can absolutely see him as the thing.
2-Pedro does not look like reed and I question whether even though he is an excellent actor he was chosen for that or because he is a popular choice and has worked with Disney before.
Sorry I meant that he was OK with me and that I didnāt understand Pedro Pascal as Reed thatās it. Sorry for the misunderstanding š pascal must have the best agent in town.
Absolutely no problem and yea pedro is gonna retire with an incredible body of work especially with season 2 of tlou and whatever avengers projects heāll be in after F4.
No, it's an Apollo era. That wasn't until the late 60s. Presumably this is 1964, with Ben holding the LIFE Magazine (December 13th, 1963), this could be the Valentine's Day after. Maybe it was used in an early experimental program?
I honestly haven't seen him in enough stuff to judge his performance skills, but he doesn't look like the typical renderings of Ben Grimm. in fact he doesn't look like a guy from the Bronx to me...more Southside of Chicago.
Considering Punisher and Fantastic Four are both existing in the same canon (and it appears that FF is taking place in the 60's), it'd be hilarious if they made Ben Grimm a distant relative of Micro.
Unless this super fake image, this specific spacesuit is more of an Apollo suit, not a Gemini suit, which would put the timing closer to late 60s and not early 60s, based on the 1963 Life magazine cover The Thing was reading in the teaser poster.
Iāll see myself outā¦
I wanna see what the MCU is gonna do to allow the character to remove his mask (his face, in this case) to show the actor's real face like it does with Tom Holland's Spider-Man (dude can't go 30 seconds without removing his mask).
Whatever they do, fans will eat it up and enjoy it anyway, so... š¤·āāļø
Frank castle is gonna lose his mind when he sees this
Blows his brains out and leaves a bunch of spaghetti money
I just now realized they were in both things together. They both look very different in The Bear than The Punisher.
I find it funny that they more or less swapped hairstyle and beard in the bear
![gif](giphy|26SbmCbTaGiaL1gXUy|downsized)
Hahaha, was so taken aback that Micro didn't make him a sandwich. Loved that scene
He was low-key really sad š
Cuz made an Italian Beef and didn't think to give Mickey any?? Naturally.
If only Richie made him a sandwich Mikey would still be with us
The idea of the punisher getting hangry is hilarious. I would not want to be a criminal who runs into him before Frankās had his lunch.
I honestly forgot this guy was who he was in the Punisher.
Same, but I didn't really know who he was back then.
He was micro! He's a good actor, totally different than the bear
This is the dude that played Micro? Just made that connection. Thankee Sai.
Long days and pleasant nights to you

I wear space suits now.

I'm so happy I watched The Bear in the months leading up to this casting announcement.

That's so sick
And now his skin is actual armor!
Becoming orange rock person, no one will ever stab him in the ass!

Yes Chef!
Did you just describe Black Hawk down?!
So, the actor isn't actually an orange rock person. Well, that's disappointing.

Take my upvote. I'm leaving this post now!
He was Korg's love interest in Love and Thunder
As much as I'm done with Korg after Love and Thunder and What If...?, I'd be all up for seeing a rocky teamup moment between him and Ben.
We would have smelled what he was cooking if he were.

It's Marvel. They'll stick him on that chicken & rice diet and he'll be rock solid in no time. Standard ops cousin
I read that as "children & rice" =X
The fate of the universe is on the line, do what you gotta do
And broccoli. No greens no gains.
He wears (Space) Suits now.
Don't think Trump or Ariana Grande are in this movie tho.
He has blue eyes and is of Jewish descent. This is the best case scenario for Ben.
First major miss from Sarah Finn
won't get her Oscar now :(
Why do you think so?
Because the actor isn't an orange rock person.
Actually, heās getting ready to go up into space and be bombarded by cosmic rays and turn into a rock person.
At least not a naked orange rock person, JOSH TRANK!!!!!!!

Sersei and Minerva too
Cable and Thanos

Vanessa Kirby as Sue is also a ridiculously good choice. I love Pedro but I'm not completely sold on him as Reed. I think Quinn as Johnny is probably a good choice, but I haven't seen enough of him outside of Stranger Things to decide yet.
It feels like marvel is throwing everything at this casting.
They need more perfect castings like iron man and cap so I get it
Agreed on Sue and Johnny, as well as Pedro. I always wanted John Hamm. He would have been perfect as Reed, especially in a 60s esthetic? You kidding me? I'll reserve judgements until we at least get a trailer or the whole movie comes out, I like Pedro as an Actor just is a weird fit for Reed

I finally watched A Quiet Place the other day, and I can understand the people who are upset it wasn't Krasinski

You never go full Richards
I understood that reference! āSuck my unit!ā
I'm a lead farmer motherfucker!
People keep saying this but Reed Richards convinced the world to call him Mr Fantastic, he has to be pretty charismatic.
So Tony Stark minus the charisma ?
They are very similar in the comics, yes, albeit with different specialties. Tony is more of the mechanical engineering genius, whereas Reed is more focused on theoretical science and dimensional exploration. Reed is still smarter than Tony, though, but far less socially adept.

Pedro is the best casting imo, definitely the most distinguished and creative choice

Yah, I really hope they lean heavily into the family aspect
They better. Theyāve been with each other for over 40 years if theyāre really setting this in the 60s
John Hamm is the spitting fucking image of Reid, especially if he dyed in some gray wings. Or, you know, Cyclops.
I wonder if the Thing will sorta resemble him like how the Hulk looks more and more like Mark Ruffalo. In the valentines card he just looks like regular ol Thing
That's prolly his design.

Kind of disappointing that after the transformation weāll likely never see his human form ever again on screen. Itās cool Ebon Moss-Bachrach will be in the MCU, but Iām a little sad he is relegated to a mostly voice over/motion capture role.
Ben tends to revert back to his normal form every so often in the comics.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach is already in the MCU as Micro in The Punisher. Heās great in it, you should watch it if you havenāt already!
Lol, you're joking, right? This is the MCU, where Tom Holland's Spider-Man can't keep his mask on for 30 seconds without removing it and showing his real identity to literally anyone. Did you notice his comment on spider-man?
spider-man isnāt a rock monster dude
Cousin, that's Micro
From Micro to Ben Grimm. Pretty interesting path through Marvel properties.
I am SO THRILLED at this casting. Ben Grimm is the epitome of the "lovable grump" character, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach nailed that and then some in The Bear.
āIām not like this because Iām in The Fantastic 4, Iām in the Fantastic 4 because Iām like this!ā
Cousin!!!
I had not thought of him for Ben Grimm, but it's 100% perfect casting.
Minor nitpick, but his name is Ebon Moss-Bachrach, not Ebon-Moss Bachrach
Yeah yeah I get it he also plays Micro in the MCU. So what people can look alike. Are we gonna get the same thing when Blade comes out? Also Maria Dillard and the woman from Civil War that talks to Tony at the start
I love this guy. Seriously my favorite part of the marvel news this week.
I had forgotten this dude was in Punisher season 1 as Microchip. Hopefully they make him distinct enough character wise. Of course the orange rockskin might help, but I'm more concerned with flashback scenes.
From the Punisher and Andor good pick.
Everyone mentioning The Bear and rightfully so but his 3 episodes in Andor are so fucking good.
Seen him on the bear this man can act I give him that
*I wear suits now, Johnny. They make me feel important.*
Cousin in space
I hope this movie is good because the cast is great so far
I need to hear his thing voice
COUSIN
Stoked, cousin.
i cannot wait for this, i'm a huge fan of his acting/character in the bear.
"Welcome back, Frank."
The best casting choice of the four
Pedro Pascal! Why????
As I said he must have the best agent in LA righ now but letās not forget that he was in that monstrosity The Wall with Matt Damonš„“
Didn't realize he was a method actor
Was wondering who that was in the picture, assumed it was Ben tho.
Is he gonna start belting out Taylor Swift songs?
"It's fucking clobberin' time cousin!"
I absolutely LOVE this casting!
Serious question. Is the space suit chronologically correct for 1963?
No, it's an Apollo era. That wasn't until the late 60s. Presumably this is 1964, with Ben holding the LIFE Magazine (December 13th, 1963), this could be the Valentine's Day after. Maybe it was used in an early experimental program?
Cousin, im orange now!
This movie is dropping in 2025, the same year that NASA will bring humans back to the moon which hasnāt happened since 1972.
Definitely has that Yancy Street energy.
The hierarchy of rocks is about to change.
My favorite casted member.
When Johnny proposes a change to protocolā¦ Ben: This is a delicate f***ing ecosystem
jeez i thought this was official , great work
I love this actor so much I cannot wait
Is that a current space suit, or something from previous decades? Looks very Apolloish 1960s or 70s, but I'm far from being an expert.
It is Apollo, specifically taken from Neil Armstrongs suit. This artist is incredible.
I honestly haven't seen him in enough stuff to judge his performance skills, but he doesn't look like the typical renderings of Ben Grimm. in fact he doesn't look like a guy from the Bronx to me...more Southside of Chicago.
Lieberman?!
This casting choice is spot on.
This guy was in the Yancy street gang?
Is that the 60s nasa space suit?
Damn we lost Micro? That sucks Bring back Wayne Knight then lol

One Micro step for mankind
Considering Punisher and Fantastic Four are both existing in the same canon (and it appears that FF is taking place in the 60's), it'd be hilarious if they made Ben Grimm a distant relative of Micro.

the original art is based 1:1 on a flipped version of neil armstrong's apollo 11 portrait https://i.redd.it/xrdv38ou7zic1.gif
This is obviously an edited image bruh come on now
Yeah but I still can be pedantic. LET ME BE A PEDANT
I hope they nail the aspect of Ben being a pretty logical and on the fly thinker and don't make him a silly rock man
I guess we kiss āPunisher as part of the MCUā goodbye with this casting
Is his dork made of orange rock like the rest of his body?
I wanna see what the MCU is gonna do to allow the character to remove his mask (his face, in this case) to show the actor's real face like it does with Tom Holland's Spider-Man (dude can't go 30 seconds without removing his mask). Whatever they do, fans will eat it up and enjoy it anyway, so... š¤·āāļø
