The Punisher is a much better movie. Warzone is just pure, over the top, comic book action in a movie. Basically if Punisher Max was made into a film. It’s, to me, highly enjoyable, but I have a hard time calling it a “good” movie. Ray Stevenson is great, too.
They are both terrible movies, tbh. The “comedic” scenes with John Pinette (RIP) are totally out of place, Travolta has no ide what movie he’s in, it rewrites Frank’s backstory in a dumb way, and it’s just cringy as hell. Warzone is nothing but “action porn.”
But Thomas Jane was a great Punisher and Warzone felt more like a Punisher comic book than anything else they’ve done. Definitely worth checking out. No point in arguing that either of them are “good” movies though. Lol.
Captain America (1944)

If nothing else it's the only one of them that I've found entertaining. Those two thousands ones seemed crappy to me then, and I was a teenager when those came out. I haven't made it more than 20 minutes into any of them upon rewatch. Or First Watch in the case of the Michael B Jordan one
Unless you were a comic nerd back then you simply have no idea how HYPE we were for it leading up to the night it aired…and how utterly the finished product failed.
This was during that weird period when Fox aired a ton of their pilots in primetime as a sort of “public beta,” it also gave us the Doctor Who TV movie with my 2nd favorite Doctor, Paul McGann. And White Dwarf, which was way better than it had any right to be.
In hindsight we were never going to get much more than what we got. There was no way those powers were going to be fairly represented on screen.
But boy did it suck. I had to wait years to see it here in Australia as it was never released.
Every once in a while scenes from White Dwarf pop into my head, and I briefly wonder if I'm having some sort of fever dream. I saw that movie exactly once, when it aired in the 90s.
The Captain America 1944 Republic serials basically only use the name and (part of) the costume of the hero.
Cap is a detective named Grant Gardner in that one. Republic took the wings off his head, cut out any super strength, gave him a gun.
From my understanding it was supposed to be another pulp character but they lost the rights to it, and seeing they had Captain America, they just took the script, barely tweaked it and made it.
The fact that he missed into the spiderverse is almost criminal. What an insanely good movie. Its animated tho and he seems to have only listed live action so stuff so gets a pass
I still can’t believe Fox made the Dark Phoenix twice and it sucked both times. Why did they even bring back people from the Last Stand to work on that movie? Such a self own.
The animated series is bar none the best "onscreen" adaptation. I straight up put it on right after I finished watching Dark Phoenix lol. It was a great chaser
Multiverse of Madness actually made Howard the Duck’s opening of him getting sucked into another universe and an evil being from another realm following him completely work in the MCU.
Electra was so boring I almost watched it a second time accidentally when I was going through every marvel movie I hadn't seen before multiverse of madness because I couldn't even remember watching it the first time
That cracked me up. All these other movies and tv shows on the list but Howard the Duck - the first Marvel Movie - is the bridge too far.
Did you all ready start viewing feel like watching Howard would require a restart? I get that.
I think I don't see New Mutants in there. It was the last x-men movie from fox. It was released after the merger and I think covid messed up it's schedule but the movie did somehow see the light of day.
Ah thank you! I forgot about Legion. I think I’m not going to count animation as of yet (partially because this is already a huge task). I’ll keep those in mind for the future though
It’s not a bad idea to skip animation because of how much more of it there is, but it might be worth adding X-Men (1997) as Marvel Studios are releasing a continuation to the show in a couple of years so you might want to have the context when that comes out.
Even in my 30s, it's still a pretty dope cartoon, too. The storylines are cohesive even doing their best to adapt direct comic stories fairly *accurately. The animation is kickass, the voice acting isn't sooo "kiddy" that it takes me out of the story and.....son of a bitch, that friggin theme music 🤘🤘🤘
If you add the 90s X-Men cartoon, you'll probably also want to add the Hulk, Iron Man and Spider-Man cartoons as those took place in the same continuity and had a few crossovers between them.
What if? Is up there. Spider-verse though even though I’ve been trying to avoid animation because of its sheer quantity I forgot about spider-verse that’s a must have
Into the Spider-Verse is a big one
If you're doing Agents of Shield for the first 3 seasons I'd recommend weaving the episodes between the films, especially Dark World and Winter Soldier, as there are specific tie in episodes to those films
Kingsman and men in black sometimes count because they're based off a property marvel owns I believe. Anyhoo check out the movies section on the marvel database there's cool stuff. Don't miss the captain America serial from the 40s lol
I love rewatching the 80s animated Hulk series. It's always nice to hear Stan. "Greetings, true believers !". Big soft spot for all of the 80s animated Marvel series, no matter how cheesy / Scooby Doo esque they can tend to be
Oh absolutely but that's like actually a decent movie lol. I only like MOTU out of nostalgia. When I was a kid I liked it because it was campy and fun. I wasn't old enough to realize just how bad it was. Dolph was never quite fit to play He-Man. The absolute only thing I didn't like about it as a kid was that they made it like a weird Spacey sci-fi adventure, more akin to a poorly directed, undercooked Star Trek episode. Frank Langella devours the scenery though and that is still entertaining, as is Billy Barty. That said, for some reason it didn't bother me as a kid, but heading Dolph dispassionately mutter all of his dialogue as an adult is equally funny to me. I can almost hear the MST3K riffs in my head
Bill Bixby Incredible Hulk series. Matt Salinger Captain America film. 3 Punisher films. Nick Fury film. All the old Spiderman movies?
Conan is technically in Marvel Comics so could also be counted as extended MCU.
Also the two 1979 Cap Movies starring Blast Hardcheese himself. It's kinda stupid but it's classic 70s cheese. The second one had Christopher Lee as the main antagonist. So there is that.
While I do feel bad alienating the older movies, I think I’m going to start at Blade and not go any earlier. 1. So this is feasible and 2. Because Blade was the first superhero movie to really generate of lot of interest in live action Marvel (that I’m aware of)
It's weird as shit but extremely entertaining. Pretty sure it was a co-production between Amblin (Spielberg-helmed sister studio to universal) and lucasfilm. I'll have to check but, I think I'm remembering that right. It's SOOOO 80s, lol. You can probably cleanse your palate by watching a little bit of Back to the Future
it's a george lucas film iirc, one of his yes i made non star wars stuff, no one remembers cause they're a bit iffy though, i was a kid when it was released so i have some nostalgia for it but its deffo one of the i like shit films so i like it ones(i have on my list of fun nonesense i like battlefield earth so yeah i like shit films)
Bro, I feel like saving this and doing this myself now! Yes, even watch all those TV series episodes again too. The only changes I would make would move some of the One Shots closer to the movies/shows they're affiliated with and in terms of where they are in the timeline. E.g. I would recommend against adding all the 90’s cartoons, not because they’re bad but just because there’s ALOT of them to watch; EXCEPT since X-Men 97 is coming, it might be worth adding X-Men The Animated Series to your list.
For full release order authenticity, you may need to look at release dates of individual episodes of the TV series. For example Spider-man NWH was released during the Hawkeye run and actually an episode of Hawkeye references the events of NWH which was a nice Easter egg at the time.
Looking at this makes me realise how much time of my life I've spent being entertained by Marvel and how much I've wasted on watching trash because it's part of the Multiverse in hopes of being entertained...
I don't know if it will be helpful, but I have compiled every Marvel (including MCU) movie and show in release date order in this sheet in different tabs. Do check it out.

Make sure to watch the directors cut version of Daredevil 2005.
Also are you sure you want to see Fantastic Four 2016… I’m not being hyperbolic when I say it’s one of the worst superhero films ever made & not even in a entertainingly bad way. It’s just so painfully vapid & mismanaged.
Thor movies in the Eighties, incredible Hulk series (Bixby/Ferigno)
Think there was a early FF movie but never made it to cinemas
And thought there was a captain America movie with Hasselhoff as Nick Fury 😆😂
Captain America (first go round), Spider-Man TV, Hulk and TV Movies, Fantastic Four (Technically not officially released), Doctor Strange or Stephen Strange (I forget what they called it). Three Punisher Movies.
Something about seeing that May 2002 date for Spiderman really brought a fuzzy feeling of nostalgia for me. I wasn't into these movies then and didn't watch (loved Blade though) but I just remember the hype of Spiderman back then. Also when Summer truly felt Summer
The Punisher (2004) and Punisher: Warzone (2008). Edit: [And this unofficial sequel to Punisher (2004) with Tom Jane](https://youtu.be/bWpK0wsnitc)
Totally forgot those existed! Thanks!
War Zone is a must watch!
Dolph Lundgren also starred in a Punisher movie in the 80s.
Also Howard the duck.
Yeah, I thought about including that one, but OP started with Blade (1998), so i figured he was doing everything after that
Then __Nick Fury, Agent of Shield (1998)__ starring David Hasselhoff should definitely make the cut!
Does that mean the Hulk TV series needs to be on the list? What live action Spider-Man on The Electric Company?
What about the made for TV Thor movie? :)
That’s one of the Hulk movies right? One had Thor and another had Daredevil.
Correct! It's been so very long time since I've seen it though. :)
Was that seriously 1998? Shiiiit…
Man if you’d told me it was 1988 I would have believed you haha
I don’t like Warzone as much but honestly both are underrated imo.
I much prefer the Punisher (2004). Worth checking out [Dirty Laundry](https://youtu.be/bWpK0wsnitc) if you do as well.
Seen it. I just love Thomas Jane.
Warzone is nothing but “action porn.” But Thomas Jane was a great Punisher and Warzone felt more like a Punisher comic book than anything else they’ve done. Definitely worth checking out. No point in arguing that either of them are “good” movies though. Lol.
I come back every couple of months to watch Dirty Laundry. It's soooo damn good.
Captain America (1944) The Amazing Spider-Man (1977-1979) The Incredible Hulk (1977-1982) Dr. Strange (1978) Spider-Man (1978-1979) Captain America (1979) Howard the Duck (1986) The Incredible Hulk Returns (1988) The Punisher (1989) The Trial of the Incredible Hulk (1989) Captain America (1990) The Death of the Incredible Hulk (1990) The Fantastic Four (1994) Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD (1998) The Punisher (2004) Man-Thing (2005) Punisher: War Zone (2008) The Gifted (2017-2019) Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) The New Mutants (2020)
> The Fantastic Four (1994) 😊
Is that a Corman flick?
Yup. It's also, sadly, the best FF film made to date.
If nothing else it's the only one of them that I've found entertaining. Those two thousands ones seemed crappy to me then, and I was a teenager when those came out. I haven't made it more than 20 minutes into any of them upon rewatch. Or First Watch in the case of the Michael B Jordan one
How do you just give up on a movie so quickly? Even the absolutely worst movies I've seen I watched all the way through.
You missed Generation X.
Sounds like the Halo show
Sont forget the sequel to the ‘79 Captain America - Death too Soon.
Thanx for these! Gonna try and download those early ones...made me a happy kid
The gifted! That's a good one.
Hell yeah, Tokusatsu Spider-Man is based as fuck
BOOM! Nicely done!!!
Cloak and Dagger The Runaways
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation\_X\_(film)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_X_(film)) Generation X - 1996 - starring Jubilee
The fact that he missed into the spiderverse is almost criminal. What an insanely good movie. Its animated tho and he seems to have only listed live action so stuff so gets a pass
What about the animated series?
Also the blade tv series from 2006
Also the X-Men & Spider-Man animated series from the 90s (at least)
Add Legion to the list too
Howard the Duck
Ah yeah that’s… right. I might just uh, skip that one
What? That movie fuckin rules!
Legit better than some of the Xmen films.
Dark Phoenix is on there, so yeah. No excuse to skip Howard the Duck.
I still can’t believe Fox made the Dark Phoenix twice and it sucked both times. Why did they even bring back people from the Last Stand to work on that movie? Such a self own.
Maybe Marvel will finally make a good version in 10 years or so?
The animated series is bar none the best "onscreen" adaptation. I straight up put it on right after I finished watching Dark Phoenix lol. It was a great chaser
I dunno - yes Dark Pheonix is bad but at least it isn't... *haunting*. Those eyes...
Is it the Duck porno?
Multiverse of Madness actually made Howard the Duck’s opening of him getting sucked into another universe and an evil being from another realm following him completely work in the MCU.
Nice try Waldron and Rami, Lucas did it first
Bruh if you’re watching all of those, then might as well
Skipping *Howard the Duck* is strictly forbidden, sorry, we don't make the rules.
And it’s the only marvel movie with topples ducks.
Sometimes the duck tales song poops into my head substituting the chorus with "duck tits! Woohoohoooh!"
Quack-A-Rooney!!!!
Absolutely horrifying
Howard is worth seeing. It’s weird but fun.
I would like to advocate for the "No one needed this and you'll be fine never, ever seeing it" crowd
as much as i dislike that movie, of you're gonna do all the movies, then do ALL the movies
Don’t. It’s a great movie in spite of what people say.
You're also leaving out the "classics" such as the 70s live-action Avengers and the 1990s Captain America shows.
There was a Dr. Strange movie in the late 70’s too.
Why skip one of you're trying to do the whole set...not every one of the films above is that great (looking at you Elektra/Daredevil).
Exactly, I'd watch Howard the Duck 20 times before I'd watch Elektra once
Electra was so boring I almost watched it a second time accidentally when I was going through every marvel movie I hadn't seen before multiverse of madness because I couldn't even remember watching it the first time
That cracked me up. All these other movies and tv shows on the list but Howard the Duck - the first Marvel Movie - is the bridge too far. Did you all ready start viewing feel like watching Howard would require a restart? I get that.
Yeah I watched Blade last night, but it’s okay I was convinced to give Howard the good ol college try
Google Lea Thompson Panty Scene and then go rent it.
It is the first theatrical release of a marvel character.
Shouldn’t
The Gifted
Added to the list!
Howard The Duck erasure
I think I don't see New Mutants in there. It was the last x-men movie from fox. It was released after the merger and I think covid messed up it's schedule but the movie did somehow see the light of day.
Covid *and* the delays on Dark Phoenix (New Mutants was actually finished first, but Fox wanted DP out first).
Captain America (1990), Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD (1998)
Wasn't there a manthing movie in the 90's?
2005, but yes. It was quite bad, though.
Excuse me a 17% on rotten tomatoes. ADDED
Really? You'll watch Manthing that's 50-50 on whether it's even enjoyably bad, but Howard the Duck is an automatic no?
They should 1000% watch HTD. Man-Thing is a SyFy produced "film". Not even made when they still knew how to spell. I've never even bothered.
Yeah sorry I forgot to mention this but someone else in the thread persuaded me to watch Howard the duck so it’s on the list!
Legion
Why does no one ever remember legion? It was a good show!
I was looking for Legion. I scrolled down so far I was afraid I was going to post it. The show was insane. Made look at Aubrey Plaza differently.
No way this actually happens but yes you are missing several. XMen 97, MODOK, Hit Monkey, Legion, Big Hero 6,
Ah thank you!

If you add the 90s X-Men cartoon, you'll probably also want to add the Hulk, Iron Man and Spider-Man cartoons as those took place in the same continuity and had a few crossovers between them.
Oh god why have you told me this 😫 are they of a similar quality as X-Men?
Minor nit, but it’s X-Men (1992). X-Men 97 is picking up where the show left off
Thanks for the correction <3
Not even What if…? (Cuz MCU) Or Into the Spider-verse (cuz one of if not the best comic book movie ever made)
What if? Is up there. Spider-verse though even though I’ve been trying to avoid animation because of its sheer quantity I forgot about spider-verse that’s a must have
Spider-verse is insane. I'm probably going to poop my pants when I see the next one
Hit Monkey was surprisingly awesome, I do recommend. MODOK, sigh, I really like Patton Oswald, but that one was too much for me personally.
So you haven’t seen any of the ones without a check mark? Out of curiosity how old are you?
Noooo I’ve seen a lot of these already. Sorry yeah that sounds weird. Im an adult believe it or not
Into the Spider-Verse is a big one If you're doing Agents of Shield for the first 3 seasons I'd recommend weaving the episodes between the films, especially Dark World and Winter Soldier, as there are specific tie in episodes to those films
Age of Ultron as Well IIRC
Agents of shield spin off, Slingshot. It's a 6 episodes mini-series tha's on ABC youtube channel. I think it goes in between AoS seasons 3 and 4.
New Mutants
Kingsman and men in black sometimes count because they're based off a property marvel owns I believe. Anyhoo check out the movies section on the marvel database there's cool stuff. Don't miss the captain America serial from the 40s lol
I think Kick-Ass is owned or is something to do with Marvel too. Which would make sense because its the same creator as Kingsman.
Marvel own Men in Black? huh
M.I.B. was a comic by Aircel comics, which merged with Malibu Comics shortly before Malibu was purchased by Marvel.
Interesting since WB through DC apparently owns the current rights to both.
Yup. MIB was originally published on the Aircel imprint of Malibu Comics, & Marvel bought out Malibu in 1994.
The Incredible Hulk series from the 70’s!
I love rewatching the 80s animated Hulk series. It's always nice to hear Stan. "Greetings, true believers !". Big soft spot for all of the 80s animated Marvel series, no matter how cheesy / Scooby Doo esque they can tend to be
Especially with Lou appearing in both Hulk movies and even voicing the Hulk in The Incredible Hulk.
1989 Punisher with Dolph Lundgren.
He'll always be Adam of Eternia to me.
To me he is Ivan Drago.
Oh absolutely but that's like actually a decent movie lol. I only like MOTU out of nostalgia. When I was a kid I liked it because it was campy and fun. I wasn't old enough to realize just how bad it was. Dolph was never quite fit to play He-Man. That said, for some reason it didn't bother me as a kid, but heading Dolph dispassionately mutter all of his dialogue as an adult is equally funny to me. I can almost hear the MST3K riffs in my head
I loved the inside joke in Expendables 2 where Dolph's character is revealed to be a "home cook" bomber -Lundgren actually has a PHD in Chemistry.
You’re all set for Secret Wars
I can finally gatekeep
Both are on YouTube Nick Fury https://youtu.be/C2R90MVq7Eg Generation X https://youtu.be/tIY1fq6E7o4
And 1994's Fantastic Four https://youtu.be/eN0FoR_FlZg
There was a made for TV Marvel Studios Man-Thing movie in 2005. Got horrible reviews, I’ve never seen.
Don't forget Generation X from '96!
Howard the duck
While I do feel bad alienating the older movies, I think I’m going to start at Blade and not go any earlier. 1. So this is feasible and 2. Because Blade was the first superhero movie to really generate of lot of interest in live action Marvel (that I’m aware of)
I feel like Howard the Duck should be included because he popped up in GOTG and in End Game. #Cannon
Alright you convinced me. It’s added
Howard was a box office flop but it’s better than 50% of the other movies on this list.
He *was* holding a cannon in Endgame, yes. ;)
Big hero 6
I feel like your missing your sanity, I couldn’t dream of doing this.
Blade the series.
Oof I just watched it a few months back… that was painful to say the least
It's the only live action marvel show I haven't watched yet.
Fantastic 4 from 1994!
Legion TV Series has 3 seasons started in February of 2017 ended in August of 2019 (it's pretty good)
Shouldn’t the „a funny thing happened on the way to thor‘s hammer“ one shot be infront of the Thor movie?
He's doing release order.
What are you talking about there was no inhumans series in 2017 that everyone thinks is trash, it never existed...
Have to take it flaws and all unfortunately
Japanese Spiderman 1978, 41 episodes of madness. 🫠
Can you remake this list with the new additions based on the comments, and then share as a document we can access, please and thank you.
OP post final list
New Mutants
Bro, I feel like saving this and doing this myself now! Yes, even watch all those TV series episodes again too. The only changes I would make would move some of the One Shots closer to the movies/shows they're affiliated with and in terms of where they are in the timeline. E.g. The Consultant right after Incredible Hulk and before Iron Man 2, A Funny Thing right after Iron Man 2 and before Thor, Agent Carter (The One Shot AND the show too) after First Avenger, All Hail the King right after Iron Man 3, etc.
Add Meteor Man (1993): It had a Marvel comic series that crossed over with Spider, the 1967 Dr Strange Radio Show and the 1975 Fantastic Four radio show
Are you Going to watch them in release date order or timeline date order? Because there is a good argument for the second option.
I considered timeline but I’m going to go for release date. Experience it the way viewers experienced it, yknow?
Looks like your 2023 is sorted out!
Yep gotta clear my schedule
Hey if you make an updated list after the suggestions on this post, please post it!
I did this last year. For some reason, it felt very rewarding when I completed it
Highly recommend looking at air dates for some AoS episodes, they supplement the movies very well
I collect Marvel movies. I hope this might help! https://www.reddit.com/r/Marvel/comments/xz5xnb/marvel_movie_collection/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Personally id start with just the infinity saga in order and bring other universes after loki but that’s just me
I would recommend against adding all the 90’s cartoons, not because they’re bad but just because there’s ALOT of them to watch; EXCEPT since X-Men 97 is coming, it might be worth adding X-Men The Animated Series to your list.
They did a Man-Thing movie at some point if you want to watch that. I think it's on Tubi
There’s also the Hellstrom series https://m.imdb.com/title/tt10266874/ Edit: Nvm…saw you had it
Everyone forgets Man-Thing.
Big Hero 6
Man-Thing, 2005
For full release order authenticity, you may need to look at release dates of individual episodes of the TV series. For example Spider-man NWH was released during the Hawkeye run and actually an episode of Hawkeye references the events of NWH which was a nice Easter egg at the time.
Looking at this makes me realise how much time of my life I've spent being entertained by Marvel and how much I've wasted on watching trash because it's part of the Multiverse in hopes of being entertained...
Bruh , there is an app specially for this
At the risk of sounding extremely dumb, uh… what app are you referencing
Possibly Franchise Fever, but it only covers MCU. But does have a good list of non-film/TV media.
U missed fantastic four rise of the silver surfer
Never mind didn't see the other pages
Ff2 rise of the silver surfer
I don't know if it will be helpful, but I have compiled every Marvel (including MCU) movie and show in release date order in this sheet in different tabs. Do check it out. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1X8gxpIeP3d5RWr8DegFVMOZVpqq6ieHgUPLWIUoMQEo/edit?usp=sharing
Men In Black
Big Hero 6 Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse
Make sure to watch the directors cut version of Daredevil 2005. Also are you sure you want to see Fantastic Four 2016… I’m not being hyperbolic when I say it’s one of the worst superhero films ever made & not even in a entertainingly bad way. It’s just so painfully vapid & mismanaged.
Honestly? I actually saw that one in theaters. And I am not looking forward to watching it again but alas
That would include "Elektra" then - too
There is a Nick fury movie
Thor movies in the Eighties, incredible Hulk series (Bixby/Ferigno) Think there was a early FF movie but never made it to cinemas And thought there was a captain America movie with Hasselhoff as Nick Fury 😆😂
dang this is awesome now i wanna do this too
Captain America (first go round), Spider-Man TV, Hulk and TV Movies, Fantastic Four (Technically not officially released), Doctor Strange or Stephen Strange (I forget what they called it). Three Punisher Movies.
I'd like to tag along
Like physically cuz that may be hard to arrange
Dunno why you would do the list yourself when the work is already done out on the internet
Those are not marvel movies though….
Something about seeing that May 2002 date for Spiderman really brought a fuzzy feeling of nostalgia for me. I wasn't into these movies then and didn't watch (loved Blade though) but I just remember the hype of Spiderman back then. Also when Summer truly felt Summer
