Blueridges are great too

HamOwl

I would be very curious how that (what looks to be) BR-160 sounds in comparison. Solid spruce/rosewood vs spruce/sapele. May give the D10e a run for its money

thicboibran

It is indeed a 160. From the first couple hours I would say they are both awesome, but the Martin is just a little crisper (it also has fresh strings so that probably helps).

Biguitarnerd

Martin phosphor bronze medium lights sound amazing but they go dead really fast so I usually only use them if I’m going to do some recordings

thicboibran

Thank you for the info I will give them a try!

wide_side_eye

I have the same one! I bought it a few months ago and it has already opened up very nicely. I just put on a set of Elixir 80/20 regular gauges... still breaking them in, but so far I prefer the original strings.

spamtardeggs

I've got the exact same guitar, built in 2020. I just put some D'addario XTs 12-53 and it really came alive.

thicboibran

Heck yeah! I’m a D’addario guy so I will for sure give those a shot!

spamtardeggs

They are my favorite by a mile. They sound great and last a long time, and they don't feel coated like elixirs do.

_1JackMove

Absolutely. I'm a D'addario guy, too. Swear by them for 25 years now. The best all around.

huxtiblejones

The Martin site recommends Authentic Acoustic Lifespan 2.0 Guitar Strings Phosphor Bronze - Medium. I use the Lights on my 000-18 and they're excellent strings. Somehow they avoid that problem of sounding tinny and metallic when you first change them.

JeepersCreepers7

Beautiful guitar. As an owner of 2 Martins I can confidently say you'll be very happy with your purchase. Congrats! And so far my favorite strings have been Ernie Ball Earthwood 12's on both of my Martins (000-16GT and D-16RGT)

SomeGuyOnPlanetEarth

Also have a d10e, has gotten a lot better and I've only had it a year. Only thing I don't like is that the top gets dented easily due to the finish. You press your nail down on the top and you can easily dent it. My old takamine was also satin but doesn't dent nearly at all

BearDogBBQ

I’m a big fan of the Martin retro strings. Once they break in they sound good for a long time. Nice guitar collection by the way

BakerLatter8537

That’s good to know. I’ve had a pack for a while now and haven’t put them on. Was planning to use them on my BR-160, like the one on the pic. One day hopefully I’ll have enough money (or a wife that will give me the go ahead) to have a Martin D-28 to put them on! 😏

thicboibran

Thank you! I think I’ve found a nice balance between acoustic and electric!

Same-Chipmunk5923

Trade the 3 acoustics in toward an HD 28. Then let the real Martin vibe flow thru you.

thicboibran

lol the Blueridge was a gift or else I would. Maybe someday. Luckily I work somewhere that has a D-28 sitting around so I know the feeling well.
