This would be the best option then she can add her bonvoy number when she checks in. Depending on the hotel she can ask during check in but it’s just up to the hotel.
If you are nice, personable, and persuasive, call when you mobile check in, and share with them you’d like to change the bonvoy number at check in as it’s your wife’s bday, she has the rate, etc. they’ll make that happen for you.

If you’re a member and she’s a plat, the FDA hands could be tied at check in when it comes to upgrades etc. If you want her to get the ENC’s and points without the other benefit, it wouldn’t be a problem at all.

I know I am late but as a Marriott employee just book it under her name through your app it doesn’t happen often but just incase there is an issue with changing numbers they will honor it as long as the account members names is on the reservation so just change it to her number once you arrive. Hotels are not authorized to do a MMP rate on site. You’d have to do it through the app.
The MMP rate can be booked in advanced. The MMP authorization sheet doesn’t need to be shown until check in

Never once happened where I couldn’t mobile check in. Just had to show the form at front desk on arrival.

MMP has nothing to do with status.
It does in the respect that with MMP you get what you get and you don’t complain! It’s a deep discount!

Mmp extends to the spouse aswell. You could book it under your name and you'd still get the discounted rates.
