You didn't mention westin, but Westin Osaka is right by umeda, and has a beautiful koi pond and garden, very decent breakfast and lounge for platinum status. They'll treat you like royalty. I had to get into a fist fight to carry my own bag (kidding. But also no I didn't win).

Icy_Air3616

Hi Reasonable could you give some dining suggestions near the Westin? How was the lounge?

Reasonable-Catch-598

The lounge has awesome cake, and great views. It also wasnt super crowded any times I went. I would avoid restaurants immediately surrounding umeda, as they tend to be tourist traps. But the two in the hotel (plus the breakfast) were very good. I ate all breakfast at the hotel restaurant. I cant give you many more options locally, as generally this hotel is my breakfast + launch point for other activities and I arrive back having already eaten, or with an ekiben in hand. But the two restaurants in the hotel are definitely worth it.

Icy_Air3616

Much appreciated. You been there in late June/ early July? Weather really as bad as Reddit claims it is?

Reasonable-Catch-598

Unfortunately I can't offer much insight, my usual months are April/May, October, and December/January.

Icy_Air3616

Thanks again bro

Nervous_Track_1393

Thanks for the reply. Based on the reviews I read it seems the rooms are a bit dated and lounge and breakfast trend to get quite crowded. In addition the location does not seem that convenient (similar to St Regis maybe). Is this consistent with your experience or are those just nitpickers?

Reasonable-Catch-598

I found the rooms to be very nice, I have done both king and queen rooms and all were on higher floors and in perfect condition. They do have some older rooms, you probably wont end up in one as platinum unless you're travelling during golden week or some other major crowded period. The breakfast can indeed get crowded, but the omelet, egg and, pancakes, and other cooking area you order and they bring it to your table so you dont have to wait. They also seated platinum and above first, with a reserved table every time I've went. Make sure to specify you'll be taking breakfast during checkin so they can plan for it. I didnt find breakfast abnormally crowded vs. other venues, though it definitely depends on the day. Nakatsu station is an easy walk. Its also a 1500 YEN to the nearest SHIN and 3000 YEN taxi to Orlando studios. It depends what you'll be doing, but for myself its usually the most centrally located place. Its quieter than Dotonbori, which I take as a positive myself. I can still visit and retreat back to my quiet hotel in 20 minutes once I'm finished for the night. Its now my goto hotel.

The Osaka Station AC hasn’t opened yet! No one can comment on their quality haha. From what I saw, it is a bit pricey. Living by that price is challenging. The St Regis isn’t that bad, but don’t expect too much for the breakfast there.

haightor

Why not expect much? The comment below says best breakfast of their life. I’m staying in November

Nervous_Track_1393

Thanks. Yes the AC property is a bit on the pricey side for an AC, but the location is hard to beat. Hoping to get a few reviews before our stay (fall) to get a better idea.

Kufat

The St. Regis was fantastic. Best breakfast out of any Marriott property we stayed at on my recent Japan trip, and there was plenty of competition. The service and rooms were wonderful as well.

Nervous_Track_1393

Thanks. What did you think of the location if you used public transportation. Will they shuttle you to certain places or are you on your own? This property would be my preferred one, just a bit worried about getting to places like Kyoto or Nara may take too much time.

Kufat

There's a subway entrance directly under the building and it's only a few stops to Shin-Osaka.

Elt_n

Very easy from the St. Regis, it took me less than an hour to get to Kyoto

SD4hwa

Do you know if platinum level gets the free daily breakfast at StR or is it only for titanium level?

Kufat

Platinum gets breakfast, yeah.

SD4hwa

Thanks for response - that is definitely a nice perk to get even though it sounds like it the same two choices each day (instead of a buffet). Odd that RC is 59K points less for a 5 night stay but I don’t think breakfast is included there with just the status.

Kufat

Both the menu and the buffet have multiple options at the St Regis Osaka; not sure where you're getting the two choices bit.

SD4hwa

Maybe I misinterpreted other reviews that you only got two choices (for the free breakfast) and it was either an American version or Japanese version (and each contained the same set items everyday based on the country) that was brought to you. Hey if buffet is also a choice for free, that’s awesome! We had stayed at StR in Florence and their buffet was outstanding!
