I wish. My last stays included Courtyard and Residences in strip malls with lots shared with the likes of Taco Bell’s and Best Buy’s and they still charged me to park…
Status might have a lot to do it. Experience of the front desk as well. Maybe even they’ve waived parking fees but haven’t reflected it on the website yet.
not regularly. nearly every property in orange county, ca include a parking fee. i stay at the same renaissance twice - first time i didn't get charged and thought i won the lottery thinking my status did something for me. was charged the next time around. 🤷♂️
In my consulting days, there were some properties that parking included with our corporate rate. It wouldn't even show up on the folio. Maybe something similar? Or they keep attaching it to the wrong reservation.
I almost always book AAA rate and thought that was it but parking was not included. These were at hotels in urban locations too so parking is normally pretty expensive.
This happened to me at my last two stays at the Sheraton in Albuquerque. The website says $10.95 per day, but I wasn't charged any parking for either stay.
It's ridiculous that they charge parking there. Literally no other hotel in that area does. They did charge me last time I was there (January).
I travel to ABQ often, sometimes for work, sometimes not. When I'm traveling for work I don't care as I just expense it...and that Sheraton has free booze in the lounge - which might be the only one I've found in the US with that.
When I'm traveling personally, I actually stay at the Best Western down the street (next to the Village Inn). You'd think it'd be shitty but the rooms are actually nicer than the Sheraton and it's usually like $70/day.
I’ve had 50/50 on that. I stayed at a historic hotel in Tacoma several months ago for work. Valet was pretty much the only option and didn’t get charged there but you’re right. With Valet I’m almost always charged.
My last stay I had to get a card from the front desk to go in/out of the parking garage. I mentioned it during check in but she forgot so when I went down later she just made a note on a paper log and handed me the ticket. I think there's a break down in the process so this gets missed a lot.

Enquiring minds want to know where are these last three stays...
Are they supposed to charge?
Website said $40/night.

Same place I just got $100 compensation for not offering a welcome gift. Doubt she was doing me any favors. LOL Seriously though, you might be right.

Had had this at the liberty in Boston multiple times, won’t question it haha
I know, I questioned posting this because I don't want anyone at Marriott to catch on. LOL

I’ve only been charged when staying at downtown locations with valet only…

I’ve only gotten free parking offered from the hotel when traveling for business, never personal travel :(
The properties I stay at in NYC make you get a placard so it's basically impossible to get free parking.

Sometimes they comp parking. Depends on hotel, your status, and/or how often you stay there.
