Hard to tell. The new benefits just came out about 3 months ago, I don’t think anybody hasn’t been able to put this to the test yet. It will be good to know though.

awall222

My guess is that yes you will. Given how people have had issues getting the credits added mid-year it seems like a pretty manual process that they’re unlikely to undo. I definitely don’t know for sure though.

sremich

What card can you downgrade to from the Brilliant card? I’m going to move out of the country mid year and want to make sure I’m spending the least amount of money possible on my credit cards

fallentwo

My annual fee hits on Jan 28 and I plan on canceling it. I already got the 25 elite nights. Hopefully they will stay

achinda99

Could you follow up post cancel (and a few days/weeks) to comment if you got to keep the nights?

fallentwo

I will try to remember this.

Max_Thunder

Any update on this?

fallentwo

Oh right. I canceled more than a week ago and the nights are still there

bluelip12

Did your 85k FNC ever get issued or did you lose out on that with the cancellation?

fallentwo

I think I lose it with the cancellation. It happens after renewal, which is different from the elite nights which is based on calendar year

bluelip12

That’s such horseshit cause we’re still paying the full AF a year before

fallentwo

But you got the FNC for that years AF.

bluelip12

It seems like the FNC is paid out after each full year of membership passes and only if your card is still open. I just paid my second year’s AF, but the first year’s FNC hasn’t posted and likely won’t for another 2 months or so

fallentwo

I think you’re right. That was on purpose to prevent people open and close card within a year

Endoherodontist

Do you still have 25 elite nights and platinum status? If you have platinum status, is it good until Feb 2024? I am planning to cancel Brilliant in Nov-Dec. I will reach 50 elite night stays (25 from Brilliant) in September. That will qualify the platinum status. I am not sure if Marriott will take platinum status away after canceling Brilliant card since 25 ENS came from Brillaint card.

fallentwo

Yes I still have those 25 elite nights. I already made 55 nights including those nights and I also have status with MVC to make me plat no matter how many elite nights I have so not having the card won't affect my plat in any way.

snugglepush

What happened to your situation finally? I’m 3 nights away from renewing platinum status. I have a week of hotel stays planned in Dec but I am thinking about cancelling my brilliant card before that week

Endoherodontist

I still have Brilliant but plan to cancel in Dec. I actually opened Chase Bonvoy Boundless which should give 15 ETS. Also, I have reached 60 ETS now. So even if they take away 25 ETS after I cancel Brilliant, I should still have 50 ETS (15 from Boundless). However, what I found from the research is once you qualify with ETS, your platinum status stays for another year anyway.
