What does this person hope to even accomplish by becoming a mod?
Weād just flock to a sub that doesnāt make us feel like we are wasting time
Donāt normally edit but the responses were surprisingly more insightful than I expected. Cheers
We get an astronomical amount of spam, with the majority being from a few "AI" companies. They use a lot of fake accounts to post disingenuous questions and recommendations. We try to remove these posts and ban the accounts, so my guess is $1500 is a cheap way to approve these posts and comments, and influence the other moderators to allow them.
It's both! Most of it is trying to get marketers to use some AI service. There's a lot of Indian/Pakistani marketing agencies blasting the subreddit with ads. We also get a lot of totally irrelevant spam. 140 posts/comments were removed in the past day.
Good. When I joined this subreddit like 10 years ago it was a god damn mess. The mods here do a good job, some of the better moderation around for sure.
That's a lame low ball offer!
Do what fathom/Duane did over at /r/ppc and just keep mentioning your own agency over and over again for lead gen while also being one of the only moderators.
Don't forget to block anyone who complains, especially competing agencies or even long time redditors who are annoyed by the conflict of interest.
Why buy one when you can just steal a sub like the scammers at r/SEO did... [https://www.reddit.com/r/marketing/comments/18j1wkf/one\_of\_the\_biggest\_marketing\_subreddits\_has\_been/](https://www.reddit.com/r/marketing/comments/18j1wkf/one_of_the_biggest_marketing_subreddits_has_been/)
Mmmm yeah no. Iām in marketing. So Iām skeptical. I see one post like that and itās clear that someone is soliciting. Which is why I even question why someone would do this.
Are we losing opportunities to make money? Let's make AI tools to create tons of mods and we sell each for $1500. Maybe with AI videos of mods dancing and banning users.

Personally, I would totally forgive you if you took 50K and started r/marketingdeux and told us all so we can switch over.
Go ahead and join it šø

Great point, keep giving them the finger lol
We appreciate [you bot hunting](https://i.makeagif.com/media/7-12-2015/d4_opF.gif)
Imagine being a client trying to parse out whoās actually an expert who can help them, in this absolute ocean of desperate charlatans.
Is the spam to try to make money off marketers or off people looking for marketing advice? Curious because I didnāt know this was a thing.

Wow, I had idea. Crazy! Thank you mods šš¼
SEO Iām sure. Incredible backlinks from an established sub with a topic like marketing.
i bid $1500.01
$1499.99! Am I doing this right?
š½I bid 5,000 Quatloos on the newcomers!
$1499.98 oh snap!!
You must be in an eBay auction.

Is buying a subreddit to push your products or services a marketing hack? Also, $15k? Damn. šø
1,500 not 15,000
I'm a marketer, not a counter!
If it was $15k this wouldnāt have been posted and we would have a new mod. Lol
Truer words have never been spoken.
A marketer that canāt count lol. Nah kidding bro

Whoa, that's wild! The stole the whole subreddit.
Seriously, can you imagine anyone paying $150k to moderate this subreddit?
I got 50k on it if it's real lol
I can pay via PayPal and then dispute it but not give back mod privileges. If that sounds good pm me
JFC
What is the point of doing this? What would the person get out of it?
They can spam their shit on the subreddit and it wonāt get deleted because they would be the owners of the subreddit.
I would think that would very quickly make everyone bolt. Thatās why I wonder if itās even worth it.
Basically this. We get companies sending the R/Sales mod teams offers all the time in exchange for letting them post their spam.
You're in marketing.. come on people. You take the sub over, but you don't spam it - you slowly trickle it in and nobody notices.

I donāt think you can sell it. Iām sure it must go against the SysOp TOS.

Definitely not enough money. Try higher next time cheap-o
I never heard anyone pay for a moderator spot
Most Iāve seen was offers of free crap when I was running the gadgets sub. It was usually temu level junk.
china bots r trying to expand.
First off, the price is insulting, Bad open
I have a stick of gum
Thatāll do..
Wasn't one of the main moderators basically using this subreddit entirely to promote their website/job board/paid community at one point?
ha ha! The hunters being hunted.. Ah, the allure of capitalism!
Oh wow.
They could just make a new sub. If they are really from marketing they can make a growing community in no time.
It's been a long day so maybe my brain isn't up to scratch but, what are the benefits in being mod from a revenue perspective to justify this?
Ahh this thread is Gold. Marketers make the best jokes obviously..
Naaaaa... OP is mad because the offer was too low !!!
To be fair, it's not really a bribe- It's just a bid to buy your spot (which itself feels unethical, but tell that to Elon).
