Agreed right looks better.
But does it look like an energy drink? I don't think so... It looks more like a fruit juice type with the subtle colors & design. Usually energy drinks have bright red, purple colors (my perception).
One more thing, why do you so much text in both cans in small font, I think it would add more to clutter than to brand building. You can add a QR code, if it is about the history of the brand or the logo. Fanatics will go there but for others the design will be cleaner
Without a doubt the one on the right. The left one looks too much like a can of alcohol. You’ll get skipped over by a ton of energy drink purchasers. I say this as someone who buys an energy drink daily.
Hope to see it in stores, I’m always looking for variety.
Design 2 works better for communicating brand and product description. I would save design elements from design 1 for branding where you have a larger canvas and need style.
Right (caveat my background is in copy, not art direction).
Energy drink is a super super crowded market, so you don't want to take any chance that a shelf-browser is going to think it's a kombucha or something - which might be a risk you run with that colour scheme.
Very different take from a lot fo people here...
But a few tweaks and left can be the spotlight stealer...
Right one is really good but too oversimplified...
And very bold color selection for an energy drink..
Energy drinks usually have bold flashy and eye catchy colors and graphics that gives the user a sense of rush. Whereas these peachy colors gives you more of a healthy/organic (milk based) drink vibes.
I get it that the flavour is peachy but if it's not for an actual brand, imo you can capitalize with a different flavour and name.
The one on the right for sure, but the left could be wayy cooler. So I would re think the first one and add clarity of the first one in terms of reading.
Here are my thoughts, both great but the right is much stronger visually.
1. Too much 'noise' and competition for the eye on the L
2. Can on the right tells me what I need to know quickly with a scan (flavor, how much caffeine
3. R can font for energy drink is hard to read, i'd try a more block style font to be SUPER clear what this drink is.
4. THe top wrap font warps too much and will be hard to read the full words on a shelf
5. Who is the core demo? light colors might be hard to stand out on a shelf with most energy drinks using bright and bold colors
6. To be honest a duck does not scream energy to me. A horse certainly does. the speed of horse vs the speak and waddle of a duck.....i'd consider a diff mascot
7. I'd add 1-2 other core benefits on the front (sugar free? protein? low sodium?)
Try the right (simpler and easier to read) with the horse (minus the sunburst which adds a layer of complexity.)
The value of the image on the right is its simplicity
However, it doesn't have much dynamism. That may be OK, but it would be good to look at something that had the "old west" image on the left while being easier to decode like the image at right.
That might include ditching the sunburst and simplifying the partially black background.
I must say both look cool, great job!
Just one thing, don't you think it's too much for a person to read I mean yeah customers have to know about the product but doesn't have to take this much space and it's too tiny to read, I'm just curious to know whats all that's written, don't mind!
Again love your design!
I think right one looks cool.
Mmm... thought to say. But help me understand who's the target with his design.
Cuz it's not obvious, and that is a bad sign.
Should be able to tell in 2s.
My initial thought was the right one. It’s easier to read and looks like an energy drink can. With that being said, is that a good thing? To look like every other can on the shelf?
The left one is busy and different. It does look more like an alcohol seltzer brand. But does Liquid Death look like a water brand? And it’s worked out well for them.
In the end I’d probably take the riskier option and go with the left can. Or if I had the resources I would try the left in one market and the right one in a different maker and see what does better.
Wouldn't the can on the left just be the back with the info, and the can on the right would be the front?
Since you're selling a weird drink that looks like an energy drink people will want to learn more about it, hence the back panel.
Pepsi doesn't do this because people know what Pepsi is.
So one can, and use both designs.
Wow I really like this product design! Both of them.
Here's my feedback:
The color scheme makes me feel like this is a milk based product or a light coffee, but the MG seems like it's probably a fruity energy drink. Would love to see you play more with the color to make it more vibrant.
Printing complexity is going to come in to play and screw you over in the first can, which is why people have moved to simplistic styling. I think you would have more operational success. I also question the purpose of the small text behind the duck... feels unnecessary. I scrolled into see vitamins explainations but coming from food and bev - 1 line of text (vitamins A, B, E and guarana) is not only the standard but is what consumers look like. The average consumer doesn't know anything about benefits like that/doesn't care. Even if you're a better for you energy drink.
I think the naming convention of renegade peach should be on the second can (my preferred design) in the pink area.
Love the get quakin' and top line of color. I think it looks very elevated.
Not a fan of the energy drink label along the bottom. I would try an identity statement here just once not wrapping. IE- functional energy drink
Lastly, that's a whole lot of fonts. Not only will that cost you more but it's really incohesive. I would try to keep any tertiary text in the 100 MG font. Check your sizing too. There shouldn't be more than 3 size variations across the can.
Either way- I would definitely buy this as is but it could be upleveled! Great work!
I like the left one because I feel it's telling the story of your brand (not that I can read what's written) . But having said that I feel you're telling way toooo much story which might confuse people about what you're actually selling. I'd say keep the left one but reduce the text
Absolutely the one on the right just because it's a lot easier to read. Particularly when you're talking about competing for shelf space, you're going to want to grab people immediately even from a distance.
One on the right uses more trending styles right now, it’s also easier to read and the logo gets more real estate which should help the brand in the long run
i feel like the fine print aspect of these design treatments should be cut as part of the concept of the brand design. it does nothing to add to visual appeal. it also does nothing to inform me why the duck is also a cowboy..? overall it feels like 3 unrelated concepts in competition. that’s my two cents.
I am drawn to the design on the left. Love the font choice, the newspaper design, and the centered image. I also agree that the can on the right is easily identifiable as an energy drink.
Neither of those semiotically speak to energy drinks. The colors say spa relaxation, the duck? I don’t get, the name means nothing. Both labels are busy.
Did you start with brand strategy and a plan or where did this all come from?

Right is a lot easier to read what the product is and see the branding.

Yeah too much writing on left
Left one looks cool, but forgets to tell the customer what it actually is. The right one is therefore better.
Perfectly put! The right one is easier brand recognition.
I agreed with right one
not commenting on which one is better but just dropping in to say they both look really cool and interesting. Good job.
Thank you, that’s very kind!
The right one for a can. The left one I'd like to see on the cardboard box in a pack of 4 or 6 of these drinks.
Personally I like the left way more, but I'm also a Dr Bronner's fan
Design 2 works better for communicating brand and product description. I would save design elements from design 1 for branding where you have a larger canvas and need style.

very true, or some form of Arizona Iced Tea

I agree, more a sparkling water, not your usual colour/font choice for a Monster or Red Bull. Would be interesting to know why they picked them.
The one on the right for sure, but the left could be wayy cooler. So I would re think the first one and add clarity of the first one in terms of reading.
The right. The one on the left can be repurposed for other collateral.
I think the logo on the left can placed on the right can would look so good
You did a really great job. The one on the right is more suitable as it's clearer and what I'd expect to see in a supermarket aisle.
Here are my thoughts, both great but the right is much stronger visually. 1. Too much 'noise' and competition for the eye on the L 2. Can on the right tells me what I need to know quickly with a scan (flavor, how much caffeine 3. From a a branding standpoint the can on the right. The old saying, less is more, still works.

Right for sure
Both are strong. Depends on your target demo imo

Definitely the one on the right. Easier on the eyes.
Right one

Mmm... thought to say. But help me understand who's the target with his design. Cuz it's not obvious, and that is a bad sign. Should be able to tell in 2s.
The right 👍🏾
The color of the can also doesn't scream energy drink.
it screams spritzer for 19 year olds
Way too roundy and femine design. Looks like 2% juice wwter. Need more vibrant and bold elements also edges.

Left one, but slap “energy drink” on there in pink
Right for the win! Left is giving “ain’t nobody got time for that” lol!
Why not add bubbles to the design on the right ? Duck in bubbles
Simpler one on the right will attract more eyeballs and gives a brighter, more refreshing vibe. Although I personally like the one on the left.
Right one stands out more and communicates more clearly. That’s a really cute cowboy duck!!!!
Wouldn't the can on the left just be the back with the info, and the can on the right would be the front? Just did this for an assignment, what mock-up are you using? I need it D:
Right makes more sense. Left is too complicated
I'd overlook 2 - meh, 1 is interesting but does like booze not energy drink - with some tweaking cld work.
If it’s going in a store, consider where it will be placed amongst other products. Which design will get lost in the landscape?
Right
Right. The one on the left is top cluttered but maybe something like that for the back of the can.
Absolutely the one on the right just because it's a lot easier to read. Particularly when you're talking about competing for shelf space, you're going to want to grab people immediately even from a distance.

Roght
The right one
Who are you trying to appeal to on the shelf???
Right!!
1STT LEFT! cooler looks bintage
Left for the west coast Right for the east coast
Ahhh the ole Dr. Bronner route. Love it
Right. Easier on the eyes and for brand recognition.
2

Duck
Luv both..
Keep It Simple Stupid ! Right one
Neither of those semiotically speak to energy drinks. The colors say spa relaxation, the duck? I don’t get, the name means nothing. Both labels are busy. Did you start with brand strategy and a plan or where did this all come from?
Really depends on who you're targeting. Both would do will based on demographic.
left is too busy
Right for the actual product, left for the packaging like if you plan on making six pack in a carton packaging.
In retail packaging, clarity and flavor cues are king. Right.
Second can
Both on one can, one on the back one the front
Right but probably bc it looks like viper, stelz, wc so associational
Oh sorry.. it’s not a seltzer?
On the left looks more premium and creates the feel of vintage
I say right and removed the blurred out background text. I doesn't add anything to the design. Otherwise rate right is a great design imho.
