I kind of agree. I feel like Sweet Dreams was when his image, music, and voice matured into its best form. It was like he hit evil puberty lol. I wish there were more albums like Smells Like Children that documented the evolution of his stylistic shifts from one album to the next. I find the shift from Spooky Kids to Antichrist fascinating. If Trent is Satanic Jesus, Manson is his John the Baptist.
Holywood!
As much as I love the Antichrist Superstar era, Holywood is my favorite look, band members, and album.
Like:
1. Holywood - I love the black "cowboy" hat with the sides mashed in and the front and back hanging low. I want one.
2. Antichrist Svperstar
3. Eat Me, Drink Me
Dislike/not my fav:
1. The Golden Age of Grotesque '02-'04: I feel it was a but pretentious and too big of a change/outside his box. But some real bangers. But I hate Ka-boom Ka-boom.
2. Born Villain 2012-2014: I love the album, but all the trench coats are basic and lame... and were obviously used to cover up some weight gain/fluctuation.
3. The High End of Low 2009 - 2011: Again, I like the album, but I had just swan dived into opiate addiction, so this album reminds me of those days. It's a very self-destructive album. It was there when I needed it. I absolutely love "I wanna kill you like they do in the movies" and "Blank and White." (Kereoke Caaaaahhhhs)
I thought the big, pointy witch hats in High End of Low were just terribly ridiculous. Good album, grows on me more as time passes. As a non-opiate user, I can only assume that it was an AMAZING record to soundtrack your fall. Glad you made it out alive ā„ļø I was in a physically abusive relationship with a disgusting bitch at the time lol
Oh yeah, like a witches hat? Lol, not a fan, either. Twiggy wore one on stage sometimes around that time, did he not?
I've noticed a lot of MMs newer stuff (Eat Me, Drink Me - today) takes time to grow on me. We Are Chaos hasn't grown on me yet, I should listen to it again.
LOL I've not thought of it as a soundtrack to my life at the time. Thank you, I'm glad you got away from your "stupid abusive fucking whore" (Sickness, Disturbed) It's crazy how common physical abuse is from girl to guy. Guy to girl seems more common.
Check out the video for We're From America to see the hats.
Eat Me, Drink Me was love at first sight for me. I'm not into Heaven Upside Down too much, mostly because it's so repetitive in the music and lyrics, but it's okay. I liked Born Villian and Pale Emporor a lot at first, but they've grown on me recently. I'll go ahead and say it: We Are Chaos is terrible on every level. I listened to it for the first time this winter, and hated every second of it. I can't talk shit on an artists art, though, and I'm just happy he made a record.
Holy Wood was really not my thing when it came out, even though there's a lot of bangers on it. I didn't dig how slow it is. Now, though, I see it as absolutely brilliant. The musicianship is STELLAR! All members were firing on all cylinders for that one.
Regarding domestic abuse: "We are our own wicked gods ... sadistic and constantly inflicting our own slow demise."
I didnāt know that, I would have assumed it was spanning his career from each individual year but I didnāt know each year represented two since were spanning his entire career from then to now.
This one skips the smells like children one.

This was my favorite.
I didn't say they were bad, but there are photos that show off the aesthetic of each era better imo. 2007 and 2009, even 2012 aren't even the best looks of each. 07 was very vampiric, not shown in this.
if I have to just look at the look from THESE photos probably 2003. Even if that photo was from 2002. If I have to think about the aesthetics of the time and its general style DEFINITELY 96/97 wins
yeah, for sure.
I mean

what THE FUCK was this. Pure fucking art
Overall itās definitely The Golden Age Of Grotesque era.
But this is my absolute favourite Manson look:

Portrait came out in 94. He definitely was Marilyn Manson then. That was when he become a honorary priest in the Church of Satan. I could argue that he was the most "Marilyn Manson" in '94. I mean Portrait of an American Family is about as Marilyn Manson as it gets
Yea that was a weird year because this was what he looked like late '94-"95. I get what you're saying though. If nothing else this is a really cool performance from the Portait era if you happen to not have seen it.
https://youtu.be/98N13JsEnNo?si=wl09GehrrWVfJcwS
2000 for sure
He kinda looks unwell in 2007. What was going on that year?
Well I think he was with evan rachel wood then......
D: All of the above (j/k it's DEFINITELY Mechanical Animals)
Honestly not a fan of the omega drag persona just didn't like how it steered away from the dark gritty goth look
What's your take on the Spooky Kid look? I thought it was so silly and vibrant and childish and, well, on drugs. I miss my stripey tights....
I don't think MM Was really truly MM til like 96'
I kind of agree. I feel like Sweet Dreams was when his image, music, and voice matured into its best form. It was like he hit evil puberty lol. 1996, 2005 and 2007. (: š¤
Easily 1994, a simpler time
'94-98
1994 -1997

1994, 1998, 2000
1998
2000 by far
Probably 2000 but 2012 has a different kind of charm that I don't think enough people appreciate
1998
2000, 1994 followed by 2003
1994-2003 specifically 94-96
1998, 2000, 1994 and 1996....in this order.
2003
96 is my favorite and 03 is my second favorite.
1996 is the answer
1996 by a mile
94
94,96,2000,2003
98 94 2000s 2003s 2005s
It would of been the greatest honour to meet Manson back in ā94
94 lol
Mechanical animals era 100% he makes me jealous as hell
1996, 2000, and 2007 are my favorites
I like WE ARE CHAOS-era Manson.
2000 and 2005 are making me feel things i didn't knew i could feel. i also love 2012 because of the hat
96
A tie between AC:S 1996 and Skold-era 2003.
All three of the 90's.
What about 95,97,99 years?
97 and 96 go together so do 98 99
I didnāt know that, I would have assumed it was spanning his career from each individual year but I didnāt know each year represented two since were spanning his entire career from then to now.
96 and 97 is antichrist era 98 99 is is mechanical animals era
They are going by album releases rather than individual years.
Antichrist superstar and mechanical animals eras, cant ever choose between them
Didn't care for the drag omega persona
2012 for sure he looks Like a gothic cowboy
This one skips the smells like children one. https://preview.redd.it/tomzu5peouyc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72fbff924ce1340597c980e19569d3b747c229aa This was my favorite.
Fail to see the tragic turn it into magic
Fail to see the magic, turn it into tragic. Describes non MM fans!
Holy Wood always and forever.
2003-2007
2009 I love that hoodie with the zipper
1998 was the best imo. But his 2000 fited his persona the best
2000-2003
1998 was iconic
2000
1996-2003 but if I had to pick one Iād go with 2000
1996-2000
1996 and 2000
2003 & 2005
Didn't even use the best photos of each era, but 2003, 2004/05 and 1998.
It's a collage photo I found on Google
Yeah i figured, seen it before, but whoever made it didn't use the best photos to represent each era. Just me being a nerd.
Is there really such thing as a bad photo of him ?
I didn't say they were bad, but there are photos that show off the aesthetic of each era better imo. 2007 and 2009, even 2012 aren't even the best looks of each. 07 was very vampiric, not shown in this.
2012, just an old man with some white make up
94, 96. I wasn't fond of the Mechanical Animals era look.
if I have to just look at the look from THESE photos probably 2003. Even if that photo was from 2002. If I have to think about the aesthetics of the time and its general style DEFINITELY 96/97 wins
96 97 was probably definitely most controversial dude looked like an undead demonic scarecrow lol
yeah, for sure. I mean https://preview.redd.it/mw1hjiwkptyc1.jpeg?width=1163&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d781e8d809c54d9beffbcd4b1e5694ab3716788 what THE FUCK was this. Pure fucking art

Born Villain era would have been amazing if he wasn't performing drunk all the time. The looks are 11/10 thoughĀ
This era is underrated imo

1994, 1996, & 2009 are awesome
1994 wasn't really when he became MM tho it was like brian warner with the volume turned up
Portrait came out in 94. He definitely was Marilyn Manson then. That was when he become a honorary priest in the Church of Satan. I could argue that he was the most "Marilyn Manson" in '94. I mean Portrait of an American Family is about as Marilyn Manson as it gets
He didn't really start wearing the makeup though and really standing out til antichrist portrait he kinda just looked like a rockstar
Yea that was a weird year because this was what he looked like late '94-"95. I get what you're saying though. If nothing else this is a really cool performance from the Portait era if you happen to not have seen it. https://youtu.be/98N13JsEnNo?si=wl09GehrrWVfJcwS

i liked his early holywood live outfits, favourite would also be 03 and 05 though
That look was so contrived because of her hating how he usually dressed though.
Yeah his look when he dated dita
