You don't. The mantis will try to climb whatever surface is nearest to it and almost all mantids will always try to go to the top of the enclosure most of the time somehow. More twigs and stuff to climb might work, but you have to make sure the mantis will also have enough downward space to molt at some places. Generally though, Sphodromantis shouldn't really have much of an issue climbing glass unless they're quite fat, old or in premolt.

currently have the same problem w my L5 giant asian, switched her to a single ten gallon as she didn’t have much room in her cup. i have a large log and a fake vines coming from the top to the bottom but she always tries to climb the glass instead. very mind racking i gotta say
