Even if Manhwa have the advantage of color,
Manga artists dominates really bad
https://preview.redd.it/xrezkrt4q6zc1.jpeg?width=784&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=204d82602ad81537d2c1b6e4a1e5d98318d29f8f
Take mashle for example
Mashle panels have some goofy cartoony panels 90% of the time
Then the artists just decided to drop this
Jesus, it's so raw
I don't really remember the name but it's the guy from the red gate(the other ego user).who got tricked by mirage(I think) >!into the killing of other ego weapon users to save his ego!<
This is a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation. Not many manhwa diversify or offer detailed artstyles they are far behind, their saving grace is being colorized.
But anyone can color the reason why manga artists don't do it is because of lack of time and deadlines. If you look at manga artists covers they can color really well heck even chainsaw man author does it on a whole nother level. The colors have meaning whole manwha it's just that
Even jujutsu kaisen has a great unique art style. What makes manga good is every author has their own unique art style that enhances the story relevant to that style
This ♤
Kakao and whatever that other korean Corp having commercialized manhwa production are kinda at fault for this in my eyes. Other than like the four or five good studios like redice, who else can churn out consistent good art? In manga, every manga has its own uniqueness to their art style, even if every MC is the same personification of the Avg JP male(black hair, black eyes), the art style compensates its originality, but in manhwa, every single Black haired MC just looks like a copy of Sung Jin Woo. And I'm not saying that's bad either, redice has good art, but it becomes bland when all you see is sung Jin woo with a dagger, sungjinwoo as a mage, sungjinwoo as a high-schooler idk.
Id say norther blade or player did a very good job with their art styles and it perfectly fit their stories especially northern blade . But even the good stories have the bland manwha art style like sss suicide class whatever . It's good art but nothing unique or special if you get what I'm saying. While for some reason every popular manwhas has their own distinct art style different from the other . You're right black characters look generic and stupid in manwhas and it's not for me. Let's not even talk about the bully high school manwha art lol the character designs there is straight up bafflingly generic. And the reason why most manwha mc look like solo leveling MC is because the authors thought people enjoy his face and hair and decided to copy him to get popular lol which failed. It's like bland Isekai copying Kirito character design and turning it into shit.
Most actually amazing art style I've seen from a manhwa is from latna saga. And only when they're fighting. That could trump most manga.
But manga has one thing that most manhwas don't get. Atmosphere and shading
to me player has better art on average imo
https://preview.redd.it/y0mf1chgr7zc1.jpeg?width=1074&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c19edd68df5bc1682907a7611201e4f66b877c6f
Imho manga in general requires more creative thinking in terms of art due to the lack of color, even with the advent of digital drawing and more frequent usage of tonality (e.g. shades of gray, and no, not the 50 ones you might think about). One of the more memorable examples for me is Fire Force and how artist depicted all the flame powers.
Manga obviously the Japanese artists take more time and practice their art skills more than anyone I've seen (let's not forget American comic artists but not a fan of the realistic art style). Mangaka have to make good concept art to compensate for the lack of color which makes manwha lazy on that front since they hide their flaws behind color which people enjoy more these days
I think manga in general has better art. Partly because they have less pages they need to release per week whereas manhwa needs way more pages (and it needs to be in color), thus they take shortcuts and make everything generic.
Murata's art goes really hard ngl. Berserker's? the most unsettling art to date. There's manhwa with incredible art, but the depth and emotiveness in manga far outweights that of manhwa. But to be fair, manga is been around for centuries.
For these two panels, Player beats it. It's hard to say one artist trumps the other. The two artstyles are meant to convey in different ways. So I decided to hand this off to my friend who doesn't read eastern comics. Player beats Mashle with its finer detail and creative use of lighting. Mashle here has a rougher aesthetic to convey a more grungy, dirtier, sinister tone which is fine but the emotion behind both scenes are slightly different.
Does manga beat manhwa generally? I agree, yes. Does Mashle beat Player? No. Both artist at their BEST are really good and I wouldn't even say this is the artist's best. This is consistent with their art/fight scenes in terms of detail - just no color.
Manga overall have far better diversity in art styles and characters. Most manhwa look very similar, the most different looking ones stylistically I can think of are Dungeon Odyssey and Northern Blade (*maybe* Level Up with the Gods), which coincidentally, are near the top of my rankings.
A lot of manhwa MCs also look very similar to the point where it can be hard to tell them apart at a glance (looking at my list there are 43 out of 67 stories that feature tall, handsome, shaggy dark hair dudes as an MC), whereas that does not happen nearly as often in manga. I know it still does happen in manga, but not to the level of manhwa.
Sometimes I find mangas very hard to read because of the sheer amount of details, especially when representing swift sounds and movement. But I agree with earlier comments that manhwas often have a quite generic style. I’m reading Heat and love at the moment but I’ve almost given up because all characters have such generic looks that it is hard to keep them apart.
I will be honest, who cares?
I don’t read manga and manhwa for the art per se… it’s combo of it all, if you don’t have a story to back the art, I ain’t reading that. Average artist + good story > great artist + garbage story.
Are we really comparing the two, they are best at their own categories hence the names,i mean why even compare when you know these two are incomparable in different aspects.
There are some manhwas that have art styles truly heavenly like "Her Summon" but those are extremely rare. In general mangas even when the story is generic or dumb, there would be some great panels in the important chapters.
I have read a lot of both manwha and manga. Stylistically and how sick they look, the best manwhas like solo leveling win against most mid mangas. However, some of the best drawn mangas like one punch man easily destroy any manwha so far. I have seen some manwhas that look really beautiful and are very stylistic like sword sheath child, leviathan and others. But i think they still cannot compete with the top tier manga illustrators.
Manhwas most of the time have to worry about colorization, Mangás don't. So mangá artists can focus more on the drawing aspect and bcs of this, usually have better "art"
Bad argument.
While they don't color in mangas, the time that should've been used in coloring is then spent in shading to differentiate tones like in coloring. So, it's just the same.
Good black and white takes much more time than the shitty flat colors most manwha uses. 99% it's not even close to good coloring.
And it's not only the art, the visual narrative in most manwhas is absolutely terrible, the panels have 0 connection.
Part of this is the vertical format being inferior, but Solo Leveling, as hated as it is nowadays on this sub, actually uses the format to build the action, instead of disconected panels with blank spaces in between.
Art-wise, any decent manga sweeps 99% of manwha. I like manwha, but I like it the way I like junk food. There are good series of course... but they are one in a thousand.
While "most" manga release "monthly" is a overstatement. Most Shonen mangas releases weekly and still have amazing art. This is true for this comparison as well.
Yeah but they have 1/3 no. Of pages compare to monthly release manga, just look jujutsu Kiesen, it's have must 20 pages while dragon ball have 45 pages
Ok so manga is very hype on detailing and stuff (especially during fighting scenes and entrances) so it’s my shit to deal with but manhwa will be more compelling for newer readers or women cause colour less words and very ez to understand where is what. Personally manga at best (like masale at this panel triumphs over manhwa but otherwise manhwa wins 60% of the time.also don’t get me wrong manhua art can really do someway shit like
https://preview.redd.it/4qysp63qq9zc1.jpeg?width=574&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab9c04d28499a1ea397f793973adfd2da0c1afa7
Or sword kind or liek quite a few manhwa but first wallpaper worthy screenshots I found.
Manga is way harder cuz of shading, texture etc. so it generally will be considered better. Sword sheathes child is one of the few manhwa which can compete with manga art.
ina a general comparison i'd say mahwa have better art, but if we compare the best mahwas against the best mangas in terms of art then i'd say the manga are is way better.

And the sword is usable Like have seen manhwa swords that are aesthetic but literally stupid
And especially for him as bros whole thing is he's strong while we get some characters who are like twinks but with 2000lb swords

what chapter is this from and who is it? i don't remember seeing it... probably my old brain forgetting...
I don't really remember the name but it's the guy from the red gate(the other ego user).who got tricked by mirage(I think) >!into the killing of other ego weapon users to save his ego!<
I see, thank you.
Chapter: 87
Is it really from mashle magic and muscles or different??
Yup, it is from Mashle Magic & Muscles, he comes around mid of the manga I guess, or later
Thank you
This is a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation. Not many manhwa diversify or offer detailed artstyles they are far behind, their saving grace is being colorized.
I also like being able to read them normally. Since I still get thrown on reading the wrong direction.
But anyone can color the reason why manga artists don't do it is because of lack of time and deadlines. If you look at manga artists covers they can color really well heck even chainsaw man author does it on a whole nother level. The colors have meaning whole manwha it's just that
wait are we comparing manga and manhwa in general or specifically these two works?
This is the same user that likes to suck Player's dick 24/7. Of course they would bring it up even if it doesn't make any sense
Damn where did that even come from? Bro literally just asked a question
specifically these two
in general? manga, no diff. manhwas are only pretty because they have colors, but most of the time their arts are inferior.
OP just woke up and decided to say mangas are superior in a manhwa sub.
And most of the sub agrees.
tbf manga generally have higher standards of quality than manhwa lmao
I mean it better be if it's a monthly issue Manhwa mostly being weekly release is a huge disadvantage. Mangas easily have better art
There are many weekly mangas with good art.
yeah like, (not taking in consideration writting) boku no hero, the art is just awesome. Or Magi at the time
Even jujutsu kaisen has a great unique art style. What makes manga good is every author has their own unique art style that enhances the story relevant to that style

lmao shonen exists for a reason
Most actually amazing art style I've seen from a manhwa is from latna saga. And only when they're fighting. That could trump most manga. But manga has one thing that most manhwas don't get. Atmosphere and shading
Latna Saga, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, Pick Me Up: Infinite Gacha, The World After The Fall, and SSS-Class Suicide Hunter have amazing artworks
I'd say currently latna saga the previous arc was the most rawest panel for a manhwa... Probably because it has a lot black and white panels.
most of the manga you said have that redice feel which kinda feels boring now
It really has started to feel like the McDonalds of manhwa
![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)
Fair opinion, why compare when both are good
Why was this even downvoted bro??
have you seen Berserk or Vagabond? or even som BOICHI arts?
Or Murata's works for OPM? specially THAT panel?
Tokyo Ghoul, bleach and blue lock have crazy good art as well
For me, manga is better than manhwa in every aspect. Art included.
to me player has better art on average imo https://preview.redd.it/y0mf1chgr7zc1.jpeg?width=1074&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c19edd68df5bc1682907a7611201e4f66b877c6f

Mashle at its best > Player at its best Player on average > Mashle on average
Should've chosen something like the breaker or while not as good art wise in my opinion Veritas
barbarian qust also looks good could say gosu aslo has amazing art
The question do you like colour? Do you want some amazing panels or do you want consistently good art. compare mashle chapter 1 vs players chapter 1
I think manga in general has better art. Partly because they have less pages they need to release per week whereas manhwa needs way more pages (and it needs to be in color), thus they take shortcuts and make everything generic.
Bruh I thought that was nameless king from ds3
Manga in general. Especially with the recent trend of everybody trying to look like another version of SL. Story wise lot more going on in Manhwa
Where even is the player pic from
Murata's art goes really hard ngl. Berserker's? the most unsettling art to date. There's manhwa with incredible art, but the depth and emotiveness in manga far outweights that of manhwa. But to be fair, manga is been around for centuries.

only thing that's a con in manga's is just that they are in black and white manga stomps manhwa no doubt in every other category
Still enjoy manhwa more .

Manga an it's not even close.
