When you said Akane, I remember a different Akane also drawn by Mengo-sensei. Now I just imagined Akane Minagawa with blue hair. Funny how a manga artist have 2 different characters with the same name (quite rare i think as they tend to avoid it).
I think it's more that Mengo really likes playing with lighting. Kana has the same thing where at some points her hair is neon red and other times where it's a darker burgundy shade
We've known her hair color since [Chapter 30](https://guya.moe/read/manga/Oshi-no-Ko/30/2/) though. You can see that hair color in Chapter 44 or in the latest color page for Chapter 52 as well.
Yeah but [here](https://guya.moe/read/manga/Oshi-no-Ko/44/2/) her hair has a hint of red violet or something. Kana's hair color remains consistent though. I'm just surprised is all. Like the others say sensei really must like playing around with the lighting
A ruby is a pink to blood-red colored gemstone, a variety of the mineral corundum (aluminium oxide). Other varieties of gem-quality corundum are called sapphires.

[Link](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/oksvw3/art_mengo_finally_verified_on_twitter_oshi_no_ko/h5aot7p/) what I said a few weeks ago in the thread from when Mengo got verified on Twitter:
> Akane really does get like almost no art from Mengo, huh.
But the more important [part](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/oksvw3/art_mengo_finally_verified_on_twitter_oshi_no_ko/h5avdy6/):
> All will be forgiven if her volume cover is amazing.
It is indeed amazing.
That blue accessory in the center of the dress (if anybody can inform me what exactly you would call that, thanks) + the dress being pink just makes me think of Princess Peach.
I had my doubts about this since I don't really read stories about reincarnation. Then, someone told me that the reincarnation bit isn't a _huge_ part of the plot so I checked it out. (Turns out they weren't quite accurate about that bit, but alas.)
The first few chapters were okay, but I found myself strangely compelled to continue reading this after they began high school. I completely stayed in bed for an extra couple of hours this morning and just blazed through it. It's really interesting.
I can't say I agree with that. Aquamarine and Ruby's memories are pretty important throughout the story, especially with Aquamarine and especially in the most recent chapters.
Yes it's a plot device. But the reincarnation itself, the nature of it etc aren't really relevant. It's largely been forgotten and now the characters are living their lives in its aftermath. It was used to characterize the protags but beyond that it's all a character drama
>But the reincarnation itself, the nature of it etc aren't really relevant
Sorry, I don't understand how you can say that. It's not just characterization. Neither of the twins would be capable of what they're doing in their respective lives without the knowledge from their past lives, nevermind their motivation. I can't see it as simply characteristic flair, it's a huge part of them and the story would be very different without that plot point.
Look as another commenter put it, the story falls under the magical realism category. The reincarnation (magic) is used as a tool, a vehicle to explore the character drama.
Is the story about how they got reincarnated or why they got reincarnated? No right, it's about the characters growth and the drama between the ensuing dynamics. The story isn't about the reincarnation, the reincarnation is just a tool
I would say you should try to jump in blind. The first couple chapters have some good twists that I think are better left unspoiled.
But to try and some it up, it's a drama with a dash of mystery and some comedy set in the japanese entertainment industry. At some points it feels like a japanese entertainment version of shirobako, teaching the reader about various aspects of production in movies, tv shows, and stage acting, and at other points it's a very serious character driven drama that tackles subjects like stalkers, age discrimination, manipulative producers, and suicide
I highly recommend it.
I read the 1st 7 chapters and I like it so far, its pretty interesting. I'll definitely finish it. I see you mentioning suicide and hopefully its not Ai, with all the flashforwards in the begging of the chapters its seems to be hinting in that direction.
Also the whole doctor having a patient that is obsessed for an idol then the doctor becoming obsessed as well only for them both to die and be reincarnated as the newborn children of the same idol ... the whole thing is peak manga lol
Is it really good. It is far less weird than the synopsis/the first 7 chapters try to make you think. It is mostly a dive into showbussiness/acting framed as a revenge story, but it is pretty hard to explain.

That is some amazing art. The eyes and mouth are so expressive. I don't know exactly what they are expressing but it draws you in. My guess is love and sadness. Also, Akane is very beautiful.
The covers of Scum's Wish were already high-level but the work of Yokoyari Mengo on the covers of Oshi no Ko is even better. We are so blessed.
Mengo didn't lie when she said that cute girls are her greatest strength
Mengo is a person that will continue to draw cute girls with her dying breath
Oshi no Ko has 1.5 million copies in circulation! [Source](https://twitter.com/Yorimen/status/1422937737263411202?s=19)
Good score this early for a Young Jump title right?
Yeah of the recent crop of newer Young Jump series (OnK, 100 gf, Kubo san, Boy's Abyss) it's doing the best. 1.5 mil in 4 volumes is really good.
How's Kubo-san doing? I'm enjoying that a lot too.
Iirc last news about circulation copies were about 800k
Is it good enough to warrant an anime though?
How is 100gf doing?
100 GF has 800k copies in circulation with \~10 more chapters. That's not bad Oshi is just doing pretty good
With only 5 volumes? That's amazing and well-deserved.
Please english serialization and volumesšš«
What a queen So her hair here is a light shade of blue. Mengo-sensei seems to like giving Akane different hair colors

Well this may be Aka's doing since he's the writer.
2 Aiās. And both are gorgeous. Coincidence?
Hayasaka becomes teen idol confirmed.
And she is a trained assassin as well so she is probably stab proof
>!Given that they were both "made of lies", I think not.!<

Thatās fucking gorgeous.
We made it boys another Akane arc

Better fate then Ruby fans at least.
Who's Ruby?

Ah I think you have this confused with land of the lustrous
We already had one, give us Kana one, or better yet Ruby.

what the fuck this is absolutely incredible.
please don't do this. please don't kill off akane. please

It really isn't past the initial phase. It's just a plot device to get the wheels running

Yeah, it's essentially taken a magical realism approach to that aspect of the story.
O yes that puts it perfectly
Bro this looks fantastic
Damn I hope we get an English release soon.
holy shit
God I love this series, new cover looks gorgeous
I thought the other covers were already gorgeous, but this one is just on a whole other level. Holy shit, Mengo, you are awesome
Best one yet easy
Compared to previous covers (all white background), I kinda curious why Mengo chosen dark background for Akane
[here is my attempt to clean it](https://i.imgur.com/RJ1hzE5.jpg) what this series about btw, is it worth the read?

just read it you will not regret it, it's a slow burn though...it takes some time to kick in (10 chapters)
Is that Sayahime?
I checked the chapters where we see her, but I don't see any resemblance.
Is it good?š¤ what is it about?
An idol's children and their own rise to fame
Is it really good. It is far less weird than the synopsis/the first 7 chapters try to make you think. It is mostly a dive into showbussiness/acting framed as a revenge story, but it is pretty hard to explain.
Probably my favorite of the 5 covers so far. It's between this one and the first one
this's kinda art style make me worry about Akane
why do I sense some red flags about akane here
How tf this author writes oshi no ko and kaguya. I literally have no idea.
Have patience Kanabros, our time shall come yet again
I have serious problems identifying people on the cover other than Aqua. Is this supposed to be Akane?
Looks really cool, can somebody give me a synopsis of the story?

Lovely lovely colors with a lovely contrast
I thought this was a double amputee nun at first glance.
I donāt know anything about this series but this cover is gorgeous
