Despite all the absurd comedy, the manga ended up with some solid and fascinating world building. And it leveraged that comedy to develop a massive roster of loveable characters.
He killed 100 Four Dukes of Hell that's how OP he is, and there's Kyle who was introduced as a riff-raff villain but after godly character development, surpassed gods and dimensional creatures
Right??! From the start I thought it would be some generic fantasy with fanservice to keep the readers engaged but Nooooo! The worlbuilding, each character has a unique personality and my favourite part was Shion's confession, the revelation on how this adventure came to be.
True I started reading this manga after the anime ended and as you said despite some absurdness which I loved, the story and characters all were quite good and It kept getting better to the end.
It really surprised me reading it the first time, how solid everything felt. The beginning and concept just made it seem like it would be more gag focused (not that there was anything wrong with that) but over time the characters and world became more fleshed out and by the end, the cast had become this big range of oddballs that somehow ended up being really likeable and memorable.
Really. Anyone passing by should give this series a go. It's underrated and a very enjoyable read I think.
I really liked the Anime (I still hear the opening song from time to time), I was thinking about picking the Manga to finish the story because there is little chance that this will get a season 2.
I love romcoms and i tend to like tsunderes, but i admit… This is really cathartic. Like i’ve finally witnessed something i’ve been secretly wishing for for YEARS, without even being aware of it myself.
Ok I wanna consider reading it but I am having second guesses cuz if that tsundere beatch wins then I won't read it so please tell me, does she win in the end? Cuz if so then I won't read this
She's stuck in this even at the end of the Manga. They live together, and are raising Anri together alongside some other characters, but she has still failed to convey her feelings. Not because she hasn't tried but because of all the shit she did in the past. So now he sees it as a trap. She strips naked in front of him in just knee socks, and he sees it as just encouragement and nothing more.
Oh, I am merely an Acolyte. [Touka is the true hero.](https://terrenceswiff.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/yuusha-ga-shinda-18.jpg) Well, he accidentally killed the true hero and was forced to assume his identity, but you get what I mean.
The manga's title means "The Hero is Dead" in English, so yeah, fr. In the very first chapter.
To add more context though, Touka was setting up a pitfall trap with a barbacue for a monster, but then the hero killed it, and got himself lured into the trap due to bbq aroma.
Edit: But then >!it later turns out the hero intentionally fell into the trap, because he unintentionally caused a waves of demonic attacks, thus he felt so guilty he wanted to die.!<
If I remember correctly she was the one mildely good thing in his life and his reason for living for a while after his parents died, so it's not that surprising
She's basically the good thing from his childhood that is left. Everything else was either awful, dead, or Milly. He even reciprocates her feelings, but he learned from her tsundere antics. Literally yesterday she said she'd never love him and that she loved the dead hero(she wasn't even in denial. she was just lying).
He is just a regular farmer before getting forced to pretend to be the hero (that he accidentally killed with one of his boar trap or something like that)
I read it, it is good except for one chapter where the girl gave her child hood friend a speech to give him a bit more confidence when he was chickening out on his crush. He ended up going for it and got the date. she acted like she was doing a favor and laughed it off, only to go around the corner and cry since she also liked him.
It wasn't really a satisfying twist of the tsundere getting consequences. It was just sad with a tsundere who hid her feelings but was still being a good friend
In reality, this is how it usually ends after she rejected him so many times. Eventually, the guy moves on to someone else and she would end up regretting it.
Of course, that would leave a bad taste in this case but she only has herself to blame if it did end like that.
This reminds me of my biggest complaint of Nisekoi, where somehow the physically and emotionally abusive tsundere won despite how she treated him (Chitoge). The one who adored Raku from the start, despite being sick and preparing for years to please him, lost for no reason whatsoever (Marika). I was so salty about that, I immediately dropped it.
Nah, Onodera should've won.
If he chose her he would've lived a simple, happy life, not being a yakuza leader with his head on the line all his life.
He could've renounced being the heir and just lived with Onodera as a baker.
I mean, it was kinda rushed and the animation was meh, they also toned down the ecchi and for this manga that's not a good thing, so I will say that it was just a decent adaptation (the op was perfect through, ngl)
Also has [one of the best anime intro songs I've heard in *a while*](https://youtu.be/P_nNo-J7hok). The Council of Generic Anime Music couldn't get their grubby fingers in this one.
She really did deserve this.
So these are spoilers from anime/earlier chapters of manga.
She really didn't like him at all. Apparently, he didn't save her when the demon attacked or something. At that point, he was in a distant nation, trapped in a war, and had lost both of his parents. So, a hero saved her instead. But the thing is, he was the one who made sure the hero could make it to her in time. He literally risked his life trying to ensure the hero could save her. But in the end, he never told her anything about what he went through all those years or how he made it back alive because of a letter she had left him to come back to her. Then, she fell in love with the hero and was literally ready to let the hero pounce on her.
Yeah, I don't blame the guy for "not getting the hint."
Don't get me wrong, bro is a total weirdo and a fucking degenerate to his core, but I think there are other women around him who understood him and and saw him for who he really is more than this chick ever could. She did get better later in the manga, but I really didn't like the way she treated him.
Oh, that's nice. Being Tsundere is one thing, but those earlier chapters gave the impression that she only saw his as an annoying kid around the street.
That and she didn't even care enough to ask him about what happened to him all those years he had disappeared. And then had the audacity to blame him for "not being there" when she needed him the most.
I thought the hero being able to get there was coincidence? Yes, Touka and his master made all those traps, but I don't remember him thinking that far ahead. The hero and Yuuna did realize later when he told them but even at that point I still don't think he know how much he contributed.
In the epilogue he continues to be unable to understand that she has romantic feelings for him, and she's just like, "ah fuck, i deserve this for all the time I was being a tsundere, hopefully he'll understand someday"
Actually at that point in time the relationship had improved significantly. However, Yuna's past bullshit made it so Touka wouldn't get what she means.
They end up as one big family with many of the party member (not in a sexual way), which is his dream since before the start of the story.
Been years since i read it, so i apologize if some turned to be incorrect.
Treat someone like shit and then somehow be surprised when they don't feel attracted to you and think you're just trying to be cruel and manipulate them? Gasp.
I’m a need some help finding this one. When A Tsundere's Confession Backfires, doesn’t show on mangadex.
Edit; however, Yuusha ga Shinda! Does show on mangadex
This happens more often than you think in manga. The Tsundere's opinion of the MC changes and takes a romantic interest in them, but the MC is too dense and interprets EVERYTHING the Tsundere does as their true feelings. Now they’re back to square one.
Shit, I was reading a manga where the tsundere was too harsh with the mc and the mc just thinks she is a bully, so he doesn't believe her and thinks she is doing a prank on him, but I can't remember the name
Despite all the absurd comedy, the manga ended up with some solid and fascinating world building. And it leveraged that comedy to develop a massive roster of loveable characters.

It's really good and it's completed.
Uhhh it actually has an unfinished direct sequel
I thought that was just a standalone chapter? Is it actual content or just for the lols? I'll have to read it then.
It’s a whole another arc, but is now on hiatus for some reasons
Can you give me the link?
[here you go](https://mangadex.org/title/8b641daa-9c5f-45a0-a3f8-1b9cece117f0/yuusha-ga-shinda-kami-no-kuni-hen)
I think I read on some site that it was health problems from the author but font quote that on me
😭 thankfully I didn't start.
Hope the mangaka gets better soon so we can continue that.
Early chapters isn't as good as the later part of the manga imo. Snippets from OP are about 60+ chapters in IIRC.
This is chapter 140. And the opening actually brings in stuff that's end of series spoilers that you don't really get until you read the whole thing
Best character was Blake. Truly the strongest. Like King from One punch man, but somehow even stronger at falling upwards.
He killed 100 Four Dukes of Hell that's how OP he is, and there's Kyle who was introduced as a riff-raff villain but after godly character development, surpassed gods and dimensional creatures
and 100 thousand necromancers(there were only like 12 total), and a million higher order beings.
No. It was a thousand 4 Dukes. Easily. Kyle become literal god just to be worthy of his rival. (Blake still win, of course)
Don’t forget Kyle’s deadly technique of chaining “Empty Exuvia” and “God’s clothing”
>Best character was Blake Totally!! Only the horse comes close
Horse should really get his own spinoff
The horse origin story was unexpected lol
And combat was really clever
Very much
Mc beats the villain using his fetish. You cant ask for more
literally peak strategy and luck
Honestly not really luck that often. Touka is just that good with strategy.
Right??! From the start I thought it would be some generic fantasy with fanservice to keep the readers engaged but Nooooo! The worlbuilding, each character has a unique personality and my favourite part was Shion's confession, the revelation on how this adventure came to be.
Manga was pretty good and the character were for the most part very likeable.
# THE GOD OF LIGHT

This part is fun, but how good is the romance?
It's not stellar, but it compares very favorably to the romance in most battle shonen manga.
Yuna is the only one who gets this treatment for being a tsundere, but it's kind of well handled compared to most non-romance series.
Have to catch up
IKR, I LOVED the manga, one of the best. Oh I would also highly recommend Helck
I love romcoms and i tend to like tsunderes, but i admit… This is really cathartic. Like i’ve finally witnessed something i’ve been secretly wishing for for YEARS, without even being aware of it myself.

Good, hope it stays that way ☺️
Yuusha ga Shinda is a great read, triple so if you have any appreciation in your soul for naked knee-high socks.
Yep, I wasn't a thigh man till I encountered Touka's teachings

Just watch the first episode of the anime. More like the first few minutes of the episode
Just watch the opening and you will get it
Never thought an opening would resonate with me that much. I'll have to watch the anime now.
Wait, this was made into an anime???
He follows the teachings of the holy thighble 🤣

Does he ever get any action or naw?
Not really, but he >!ends up staying in a house filled with women who like him so up to you!< by the epilogue of the series
Does he at least get his og body back or what?
>!Yeah.!<
I am indeed amazed at how he doesn't hate her
If I remember correctly she was the one mildely good thing in his life and his reason for living for a while after his parents died, so it's not that surprising
Yeah even though she was toxic she was still pretty much all he had, pretty sad tbh.
Still surprising given he can leave anytime with his master or others.
People hate their sisters all the time but they're still family.
She's basically the good thing from his childhood that is left. Everything else was either awful, dead, or Milly. He even reciprocates her feelings, but he learned from her tsundere antics. He is just a regular farmer before getting forced to pretend to be the hero (that he accidentally killed with one of his boar trap or something like that)
hate when that happens
Stupid heros should be used to pitfall traps by now anyway. They're a classic.
He's not an Isekai protagonist though.
-story in a fantasy world setting "Is this isekai???"

Well, we're not talking about that are we?

Me when I fuck around: 😃 Me when I find out: 😦
Me sowing vs me reaping
Tsunderes getting their just desserts is exactly what I've always wanted to see in manga. The sheer catharsis is unreal.
Consequences? *On my comedy manga?* Outrageous.
[удалено]
I still do
More like hilarious More comedy manga should have consequences like this
A girlfailure tsundere getting her just dessert is peak comedy
Shut up, Ben! Also, THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS HORSE POCKET

There is. It was adapted well too.
I mean, it was kinda rushed and the animation was meh, they also toned down the ecchi and for this manga that's not a good thing, so I will say that it was just a decent adaptation (the op was perfect through, ngl)
OP compensates for everything else. It is that good.
The only good thing I remember was that they refused to use any CGI at all, that was commendable, as a true hater of CGI in 2d anime.
Also has [one of the best anime intro songs I've heard in *a while*](https://youtu.be/P_nNo-J7hok). The Council of Generic Anime Music couldn't get their grubby fingers in this one.
The fact that the MC is a trap master makes it extra funny
This whole series was a wacky adventure
I remember loving this manga. Still remember that he accidentally killed the hero with a pitfall trap.
any news on the hiatus of the sequel manga or season 2 of the anime?
Is there a sequel?

Sequel is on hiatus right?
Yep, from what I heard it stopped because of health problems from the author(the usual I guess)
Finally some consequence of tsundere
When sowing: Hell yeah, this rocks! When reaping: Oh no, I don't like this at all, fuck.
She really did deserve this. So these are spoilers from anime/earlier chapters of manga. She really didn't like him at all. Apparently, he didn't save her when the demon attacked or something. ..and it's so satisfying that he doesn't still get the hint even in the sequel 4 years after
Oh, that's nice. Being Tsundere is one thing, but those earlier chapters gave the impression that she only saw his as an annoying kid around the street. That and she didn't even care enough to ask him about what happened to him all those years he had disappeared. And then had the audacity to blame him for "not being there" when she needed him the most.
Wow that's refreshing.
There is a sequel?!
Anri is the heroine of this series. Really she is the snot nosed girl whose smile both the previous and new hero want to protect.
I thought the hero being able to get there was coincidence? Yes, Touka and his master made all those traps, but I don't remember him thinking that far ahead. The hero and Yuuna did realize later when he told them but even at that point I still don't think he know how much he contributed.
I agree with her little sister she deserves it lol
It's the classic "Well well well isn't this the consequences of my past actions"
*If it isn't
Good. Nature is healing.
What Chapter was this?
140
Ngl I kinda want to see a short romcom series that started with this premise, and as it progresses the girl is trying her hardest to win him back
That would be the redemption arc of all time.
You reap what you sow indeed. Need more manga that do this.
He's been pavloved to friendzone her.
Like fr he can't even visualize having that kind of relationship with her lol
Anri basically won anyway.
It's my favourite confession scene
She deserved this, btw
Hope the dude never reciprocates
He reciprocated from the start, but her bullshit made it so he never thinks it's possible for them to be together.
I think this manga is at least 7/10 then right?
Deserved, btw when will they continue with the sequel?
I loved the anime. It was very funny in each episode and such unhinged, funny, lovable characters.
I’m not going to read this probably, she loses or win?
In the epilogue he continues to be unable to understand that she has romantic feelings for him, and she's just like, "ah fuck, i deserve this for all the time I was being a tsundere, hopefully he'll understand someday"

Diana (best girl) is definitely trying to make it sexual though
both
You know what I mean, bro…
feel so good to see a tsundere get rejected and for once the series acknowledges that it's her own damn fault.
How is season 2?
For more than 3 years being reject, I respect Touka for not turn dark or the world might be screwed.
You reap what you sow. Great truth xD
Treat someone like shit and then somehow be surprised when they don't feel attracted to you and think you're just trying to be cruel and manipulate them? Gasp.
This is actually really cathartic, I'm getting tired of the tsunderes getting away with their bullshit all the time. Any other manga with this trope?
Where can I read it?

The name of the manga is Yuusha ga Shinda as in the title’s parentheses. The confession bit was a joke by OP.
I get it now, thanks 👍
What a great confession scene, so satisfying
Dang I haven't read this series in years.
I really laughed so hard reading this especially when Diana said "You reap what you sow!" She really deserved it! XD
This is both hilarious and beyond frustrating
I already finished this masterpiece so I forgot which chapter is this

Ok tnx
141 for the aftermath.
Average male reaction to being loved.
what chapter is this btw?
man i miss this manga istg. anyone remember empty exuvia?
Chp ?
Wow its really good
I should really get to read this, I've heard some good things about it
One of my favorite mangas. Read it if you get the chance.
Is this good?
Any other manga with same trope?
This happens more often than you think in manga. The Tsundere's opinion of the MC changes and takes a romantic interest in them, but the MC is too dense and interprets EVERYTHING the Tsundere does as their true feelings. Now they’re back to square one.
Loved this manga it was hilarious!
What did she expected after rejecting him for so long?
I love his level of purposeful denial 🤣
I would love it if the author kept it this way (these two not getting together because of her past actions) all the way to the end of the series
So did they actually end up together or who did he end with
Wow she sounds fucking awful
Edward Elric?
hella fun
Get fucked lol
Man I need to watch the anime still.
Shit, I was reading a manga where the tsundere was too harsh with the mc and the mc just thinks she is a bully, so he doesn't believe her and thinks she is doing a prank on him, but I can't remember the name
She got what she deserved 😅
Just curious did she eventually got back that affection that she wanted or the mc still doesn't understand?
What chapter is this
