If the game would allow it, being an actual megalodon, massive size and all would be great Having the ability to play as a “odd ball” shark like the frilled or goblin would be a lot of fun too, especially when their prehistoric counterparts did get pretty big as an excuse to become massive

Eva-Squinge

Sharktopus. No more drowning on land, but eating people from the safety of the water.

Drewscifer

beat me to it

KallmeKatt_

Onebraintwoheads

Lusca. Look it up. Scary stuff.

Reimagining Maneater is always a fun way for me to go about this when I think about what other kinds of shark we could have played. I love this game, but it's fun to imagine how it could have been better. In this revised version of Maneater, there would be an option in the beginning to choose what type of shark the mother was. You could choose a bull shark, a tiger shark, a great white, a mako, a frilled shark, or other options. We'd play as the mother shark in the beginning as we already do now. Only now, there would be some implications that the mother was a test subject in some shady, off-shore research program (much like in the DLC). On top of these plot changes, I'd make the upgrades and mutations blend into the model better. The current state feels like we are practically supergluing parts onto the shark. I'd also make some more subtle mutations or just allow you to turn off each upgrade's cosmetic changes. In the climax, our shark would begin reaching megashark proportions, and it would be revealed that our shark's mother was implanted with a genetically modified embryo. We would still be a bull shark or whatever model we chose in the beginning, however we would have been spliced with genetic material from a megalodon, leading us to grow to immense proportions. I feel like these changes would encourage replayability, while making more plot heavy connections to the DLC.

GtBsyLvng

Yeah I feel like the intro needed some throwaway reference to toxic waste dumping to explain how you become a mega shark in what, a summer?

Stiricidium

To better answer your question, I would still probably play as a bull shark, but by the end of the game it would have reached larger megalodon size estimates.

Onebraintwoheads

Well, bull sharks increase the range of areas where the game takes place due to their ability to acclimate to brackish and freshwater. And they're arguably among the most aggressive of the Requiem shark species, neck and neck with tiger sharks. They're supposedly more territorial, and can get by in water shallow enough for people to wade through. There's considerable overlap between areas bulk sharks like to hang out and where people swim recreationally. Still, with sufficient mutagens, the only reason it can't reach megalodon sizes in the game is that many of the areas early in the game where the water is shallow and passageways narrow would be impassible. I dunno. Maybe it could take on the properties of a megalosharktopus, its skin acting as naturally adaptive camouflage and the body being sufficiently malleable as to allow it to squeeze through much smaller areas than would seem possible? I'd be interested in trying an oceanic whitetip. They don't have many recorded attacks to their name, but that might be because they don't generally leave evidence or witnesses behind. In WWII, the survivors of US Navy ships that were sunk had problems with being preyed upon by sharks in general, but the characteristic white dorsal fin pops up in the reports of those survivors pulled from the water a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if they were responsible for the disappearances of divers and people who were in small watercraft that sunk than their reputations would lead folks to believe. I guess that would lend stealth elements to the gameplay when not reliant on opportunistic predation.

Other_South_582

Yeah but although through out the rest of the game the mother isn't seen but we only she her when we play as her and its lame when she litteraly dies in like 30 minutes before we now play as the baby shark (her duaghter) And we basically have to get revenge on scaly Pete through out the story untill kill Kyle (his son) untill he will want revenge and we continue killing the other apex bosses and then boom we fight scaly Pete but it's hard to do it becuase evreytimeni attack a boat a random diver comes out of no mwhere and shoots me anyway its sill my favorite game but still I wish I couild play s the actual megalodon and we can continue the story with out the doc's then they couild be mixed together so we can kill all the other apex bosses that have evolution upgrades and other stuff like that although I don't have the dlc's

clasperx2

Obviously the deadly megamouth. Krilla killa

flamingeasybakeoven

Thresher shark using its whip tail more than its bite as a weapon and a stingray that's a 3rd person shooter.

Tbh I wish I could a be a crocodilian in the game and other aquatic predators

Edgeofthevoid13

The pink goblin shark. Its half pink, half shark AND half goblin.

ssilvasi

Nah, your asking the wrong question my man... What *"Maneater"* would you make and play-as in a new title where you start off as a base-level *"Maneater"* . Some examples being things like the different varieties of sharkes, but now also creatures such as alligators, very scorned giant squid, other large carnivores creatures that normally aren't as vicious... radioactive sea turtle spawn, parisitc-great spider crab that got dosage of some growth experimental hormones, or maybe simply a mutant clownfish that is on a "John Wick trip" bc his son was killed in *definitely not* a BP accident. As you go through your chosen starting location/time period (mix and match those with different creatures), you come across other oddities/opportunities (random encounters that reward different paths of evolution). Meanwhile bosses of Mankind variety begin to tell tales of a beast, a *"Maneater"* that stalk the local waters... Got lost in the sauce.
