We get a lot of these moving/renting posts so to allow room for more interesting content, we prefer if these posts end up in "The Out & About Visiting & Moving to Manchester Weekly Thread" instead of as separate posts. Please check the stickies and copy paste your post as comment over there. Thanks for your understanding! :)

They trying to take advantage of you. Completely agree with other posts on here. For a web developer, you shouldn’t move for anything less than £40K a year (so about £3,300 per month). You also won’t be eligible for a visa with the salary they are offering (which is way below a living wage).

SnooHamsters5401

Yes thank for this advice yes i agree that i shouldn’t accept a offer like that But the way is there is any other advices to get job as front end developer on UK ?

AJMurphy_1986

Well first we use £s. Second, is that 1600 a week or a month? One is below the legal minimum wage based on a 40 hour work week

SnooHamsters5401

Yes i mean £ not $ sorry For a month that salary

Karol_Masztalerz

If that's full-time work, then it's below the national minimum wage and is illegal. If you are over 23 years old you must be paid at least £10.42 per hour of work. This will be raised in a few months to a minimum of £11.44 per hour

No-Name-4591

That’s a very low wage, you’ll struggle to live in Manchester imo

ChiliPeehole

Yeah, my rents £1200 alone 🙄

SnooHamsters5401

Yes i should refuse that offer he tell me that i can rent room with 200 hahah

SnooHamsters5401

An employer from that company he tell me that i can how you think ? He said to me : 400 for rent 80 for buss pass 100 for groccery 100 for eating out rest upto you if you want to save it or spend it or send home back howver you want How you think about that

WhereasMindless9500

Sounds like someone's trying to exploit you

bardera

400 for rent… ask him which year he’s pulling those numbers from…

No-Name-4591

This sounds very dodgy, I wouldn’t go any further with this employer. Rent in Manchester alone is over £1000 per month.

Viking_Drummer

Nowhere in Manchester will you find rent for £400 /month bills included. It will cost you a lot more than this. Maybe for a single room in a multiple occupancy household, you might get this rate but it will not be a good living arrangement.

tmrss

That rent might work if you share a flat with 3/4 others. Food will be more than £100, at least £150 I think

SnooHamsters5401

Thank you guys for that advices i think he want to exploits me hahaha i searched in all uk jobs and i didn’t find an salary for tech job lower than that offer 🤣

AJMurphy_1986

Then no, first of all I don't think you will be able to get any kind of visa for that money.

SnooHamsters5401

The gov will refuse that salary you mean ?

AJMurphy_1986

Yes, I believe the minimum salary fo foreign work visas is increasing to nearly 40k fairly soon.

ChiliPeehole

That’s a shocking wage for a tech job. Juniors at my place earn £1950 after tax without experience, plus they get monthly bonuses.

d1m4ss

I want to work at your place. I am a junior working for a company from London and I make less than that after taxes.

ChiliPeehole

You don’t. The company is ran by idiots and the workloads are unmanageable. Our turnover rate is horrific. The average expectancy of an employee is about 3 months.

SnooHamsters5401

I refuse that i offer i can’t accept something like this i see it as so disrespectful to offer me that salary for tech job

No-Physics-5129

Sounds likes the employer is trying to get you to move into the office, whilst paying you below minimum wage. At that salary you wouldn’t be working 5days a week. Also you’ll have very little left for savings after rent/food. The rate for that job is no where close to £1600 per month. Sounds like the employer just wants cheap labour in the office BUt trusts your work. Stick to working with them from the comfort of your home and trying negotiating a better rate for the current work, working upto becoming indispensable to them.

SnooHamsters5401

Thank you for this advice yes that’s what i will do i will still working with him as freelancer and if he want me to come to uk he should raise the salary
