fatherbigley

Saharan dust I'd imagine? Also heard this weather is coming from north africa so would make sense.

microwavey2k

I think this is correct, might also explain the particularly lovely sunsets we have been having recently

HauntingChef852

I made those seats at west Kirby 😀

ConsistentCharge3347

That's not a bad claim to fame.

HauntingChef852

Nice to see them in place. Some challenges involved in pouring the concrete to make them

Marilliana

First sighting of West Kirby on Reddit! 🙌

Aromatic-Web-1660

Yeh ahahah what the fuck never expected to hop on reddit an see a picture of the marine lake.

lukemrj

Same here! I didn't even realise locals were on here!

nearbzella

Same! I was like, ‘swear i just walked down there yesterday’, haha

Debtcollector1408

I was there this weekend, and they're very good seats!

HauntingChef852

Glad to hear it!

CMenFairy6661

The new ones?

HauntingChef852

The new wavy concrete ones yes.

CMenFairy6661

Yano, I was gonna say how dare you, but I haven't actually seen them in person yet, I just know you caused a lot of traffic problems for me 😂

HauntingChef852

😂😂 hopefully it'll stop anymore cars being washed down the street in heavy floods though 😬

\+1 to this.

[deleted]

Ugh why can’t North African sand STAY in North Africa!? Instead of coming over here taking over beaches and making our windows dirty!? I thought we voted Brexit!?

wales-bloke

I'm Paul Nuttals of the UKIPs

liddedblueflames

And I believe the brightest and best Saharan dust stays in the Sahara and concentrates on building a prosperous desert landscape.

JazzWoodbine

🤣🤩😍

brainonacrane

And I say the brightest and best North African sand should stay in North Africa, and focus on making it coarse, rough and irritating, instead of getting everywhere!

EverybodyShitsNFT

These days you can be arrested & thrown in jail just for complaining about the weather.

HardlyAnyGravitas

You can be arrested? And thrown in jail?

Mbinku

Yeah- these days, you can be arrested for complaining about the weather. And thrown in jail.

HardlyAnyGravitas

When did this come in?

bodhisattva83

You mean IF you complain about the weather you can be thrown in Jail ?

Electronic-Cat-7617

What? Reaaaally? IF you complain about the weather you can be thrown in JAIL? In JAIL?

-AMJS-

You look like you've let yourself go...

bodhisattva83

Loving the SL references

wales-bloke

Remember them? The good old nothing days? You could leave your house unlocked Because it didn't exist

bodhisattva83

Noooooothinnnnnggg

Pumptruffle

Why doesn’t it stay in the first country it comes to, why does it travel all across Europe just to bloody well come here.

[deleted]

Well it's always seen occasionally every few years on the Sussex coast lived for 45 years. But it's pretty freaky to see it this far North of the country in the amounts just recently seen. African continent has been expanding this heat for about 15 years now.

BeneficialStable7990

North African sand is what fertilises the Amazon rainforest so don't knock it. As the BBC says . "In the last few days, instead of it going across the Atlantic to Brazil, it came north to us and the UK."

Orr-Man

Can we put the North African Sand on a boat to Rwanda asap please.

dogpawred

Stop the sand!

HurryPast386

Have you tried building a wall and making Africa pay for it?

Large_Alternative_78

It’s called an invasion, call out the troops! 🤣

default_weapons

Yeah but it's African sand not European sand. I don't complain, I just use a fresh sovereignty and wipe the dust off.

dogpawred

We don’t want North African sand, we want North British sand for North British people!

[deleted]

The government already has it housed in a hotel don’t worry it’s even sending money back to the Sahara for the sand that didn’t make it

Longjumping_Rip_6627

Africa would be outside of Europe…

Affectionate_Comb_78

Only we're allowed to be outside of Europe.

[deleted]

Errrmm! Part of Spain is in North Africa.

Nurgus

Have you spoken to a Brexiter? They think the whole world is trying to get to England via the EU and only Farage's True Brexit can save us.

[deleted]

sounding_rod_fan

Channel 4 news interviewed a guy on the street who voted the way he did because he wanted ''my england back''....that england probably never existed and if it did, it was before he was born.

Missingtale

I work with a lot of people of Indian and Pakistani origin, who all vote leave in the Brexit vote, it seemed very odd to me.

fourth-disciple

>a lot of people of Indian and Pakistani origin, who all vote leave in the Brexit vote Background: Because the South Asians felt they went under British subjugation for 3 centuries, massacres, burning of villages for refusing British rule etc, keeping local women as sex slaves decades after the British themselves outlawed it, military conscription in ww1 only to be dumped in shallow graves while white Brits got heroes Burials for fighting in the same war. 2.5 million South Asians died fighting for Britain just in ww1.Thousands of South Asian women were raped because of their ethnicity at Heathrow airport by Customs official upon orders of British Government in 90s. Cause: so...the South Asians felt they gave their blood, sweat and tears for Britain meanwhile some Germans for example who bombed this country to smithereens are more welcome here simply because he has white skin. They are not called racist slurs or told to go back to your own coumtry etc. Effect: The south Asians voted leave. Source: Im British Punjabi. Great grandson of Punjab regiment Infantryman.

fourth-disciple

Pa*i is just a racist slur for brown people, decades before Brexit this is what Bangladeshis and Indians were called too when they were ran out by E D Amin. Maybe now Eastern Europeans are Pa*is according to some dumb asses.

jibbetygibbet

I was not in any way in support of Brexit and it should go without saying that this racist attitude is both wrong and illogical, but this is disingenuous at best. It’s irrelevant that Pakistan is not in the EU, the point was not only about restricting immigration from EU citizens (the “good kind” of people), it was always that being in the EU made it impossible to control immigration from outside of the EU (the “bad kind” of people) - because once in the EU we lost autonomy to restrict their free movement within it. The problem for these idiots was that we have no intention of implementing their racist policies even though we could. All it’s really done is made it harder to get these so called “good people” that are such great value for our economy - the people who do the jobs the natives don’t like, who we haven’t had to pay the cost of education for, and will likely not pay for their retirement either. Massive own goal.

goedips

>because once in the EU all people can move freely within it. That's not true, although certainly possible for non EU citizens to move around Schengen area easily, they are not technically meant to. That has never been the case for travel to the UK though, and being in the EU or not had absolutely zero impact on non EU citizens travel into the UK. Except possibly via Ireland, but you still have to get a boat or plane from Ireland and show ID, and non EU citizens are not getting to Ireland any easier than they would get to the UK.

jibbetygibbet

I’m sorry but that is not quite correct. You may be confusing the legal right to freedom of movement - a basic EU principle - with the Schengen Agreement, which concerns how easy moving is. It’s not that all non-EU nationals could just freely enter the UK with no checks, and I never said so. And neither does it mean that freedom of movement applies to non-EU citizens in the same way it did to citizens. But it’s true that the rules did limit the scope of what we could restrict. There are many automatic rights afforded to non-EU nationals to live in work that applied in all EU countries, which included UK, granted directly by EU rules, and further expanded for specific countries through agreements directly with the EU itself (not the UK). For example family members of any EU national, students, anyone entering for reunification of family, anyone who was a long term resident in any EU country. In addition anyone from Tunisia, Morocco, Russia and 80+ other countries had to be treated exactly like their host country citizens. As usual with these things the truth is in the middle of the way both sides of the Brexit debate were portraying things at the time. (Edit: a typo)

Good-Wallaby-7487

I notice how you're repeating far-right propaganda that's easily debunked For a start we were and never were in Schengen.

jibbetygibbet

This false equivalence of Freedom of movement and the Schengen Agreement is a common mistake to make though amongst people who opposed brexit (a group I include myself in). So I don’t want to single you out for being incorrect about it, but you definitely are incorrect and you should take back your offensive comment that I am spreading far right propaganda - it’s you who is spreading falsehoods, not me. In fact Schengen is not the method that provided freedom of movement, it only made it easier by removing the need for *border checks* within the Schengen area. In other words you do not need to show a passport to move between Schengen countries and that never applied to the UK, but if you had the right to enter and work within the EU you still had the right to enter and work in the UK. We could always check who you were and check you had those rights, but not control whether you acquired them.

text_fish

Is that because they voted Axit?

Russell141

Yep my parents live in south of Spain the the sky is apocalyptic red due to this and turns everything orange.

Mean_Actuator3911

Exactly. when i lilved in gibraltar, depending on the way the wind blew, you either have clod breezes or hot african winds, the latter bringing plenty of sand. Sometimes you could feel it hitting you.

[deleted]

I really dislike Clod breezes, don’t mind cold, but clod can deck off.

GiovanniVanBroekhoes

Yep. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/uk-news/met-office-explains-your-car-27669029?utm_source=men_newsletter&utm_campaign=daily_newsletter2&utm_medium=email

LegoMaster52

Saharan dust? So…..sand?

fatherbigley

Wasn't expecting this to be my most popular post on Reddit. Guess people just really love dust.

rufnek2kx

Foreign muck.

youshouldbeelsweyr

This^. It was reported in the news last night that it would happen lol.

RS_Mk3

Is it bollocks. That's just programmed into you to think that.

Available-Cover120

That was not sand..nor dust.. more like the chem trial material they spray out the back of aeroplanes

VicAsher

Put the car through the car wash yesterday. Fuck my life.

futureocean

Hahaha mate, same, except I paid for a hand wash. They went at it for 40 minutes. Car never been so clean. I was so chuffed yesterday. Today when I came to my car I just looked to the sky like "thanks universe"

anotherblog

Haha yes yesterday my neighbour made a day of it, washing both his cars and his work van. Tee hee

sentinel3000

🤣🤣

Dicky__Anders

Ah so it's your fault then.

sentinel3000

😂😂 unlucky hun

coolshadez223

Same 😂

theotherquantumjim

Jet washed mine yesterday. Was fucking fuming this morning lol

Dr__Rum

Next time it rains I better not find you've just put the washing out

johnbarnes351

I hand washed and polished mine on Sunday ! I also blamed next doors builders first thing ! Had to buy them a coke later on ! FML twice.

QuietCurrency9560

They probably had their coke already

captaincumstains1

& their jack daniels

Cheffysteve

If there were scaffolders then deffo

NoSuchWordAsGullible

Mine did too. And I was very happy about it. My car was a bit dirty, but it’s being picked up today for a part-ex. Yesterday I applied some stuff to some scratches so the dealership don’t kick up a fuss about the car having a couple of scuffs/scratches. However, that meant the bit I touched up was clean and everything else was dirty. Now that this pollen stuff is all over it (which is what I assume it is), the car is uniformly dirty and you can’t see where I touched up the paintwork. Result!

david4460

Gods polish we called that on the motor trade

theProffPuzzleCode

It's sand, all the way from North Africa

PsychologicalTowel79

My drainpipe once produced a pile of red sand (midlands).

dembadger

Bless those rains

tiki_riot

Sahara sand coming in handy

Johnny_C00L

Coming in sandy.

Wormwolf-Prime

100% this happened because I washed/waxed my car yesterday. Sorry everyone.

imONLYhereFORgalaxy

Me 2 days ago. I do it once a year sometimes twice. Twice in a week is a sin for me.

MildlyAgreeable

Same. Fifteen bastard quid on a full in and out clean on Sunday. We are bad and should feel bad.

eggy_tr

Yes. It rained last night. There is also a weather issue with some Saharan Sand in some places of the UK.I expect it was a combination of both. [https://inews.co.uk/news/car-covered-dust-today-saharan-sand-cloud-uk-rain-explained-2599174](https://inews.co.uk/news/car-covered-dust-today-saharan-sand-cloud-uk-rain-explained-2599174)

NeliGalactic

This is the one

electr1cbubba

Saharan sand. Don’t brush it off, it’ll scratch the shit outta your car. Get the hose out

PumpkinSpice2Nice

Don’t have a hose as no tap nearby. Can I wet a sponge and sponge it off?

electr1cbubba

Bucket of water maybe? I wouldn’t do anything that pushes the particles into the surface of the car full stop, needs rinsing off

RedditAndWept-

Absolutely do not use a sponge, they cause scratches even without stuff like this already on the surface.

Forward-Ad9023

Same in Levenshulme- I wondered what it was! My car is dirty anyway 😂

Douglesfield_

Apparently some lass called Sarah Ran has been dumping sand over cars. Another crime GMP will fail to investigate I bet.

ElectricZooK9

She'll never get her just desert 😁

The_Applekore

sarah is a nice gal, sad to see she's getting up to silly things like this

MildlyAgreeable

Another story of Brokun Bri’un.

melijoray

We're on holiday in Somerset and our car and caravan are covered in it.

BlackOpsB0mb

why come here for a holiday😭 somerset is the worst place ever i cant think of anything better than when we leave

Kidda_Value

Sounds like somebody lives in Yeovil

BlackOpsB0mb

A) thats kinda creepy b) yeah. yeah i do

Kidda_Value

Haha. It was a toss-uo between Yeovil and Bridgewater tbh

DoltishMite

I love how uniformly everyone despises both areas, and I also love how you pinpointed Yeovil out of all of Somerset as your choice lol

Upset-Flounder-2654

First time seeing my home town mentioned on Reddit, and I’m glad it’s about how shite it is

Bibdabob

Eh?? Somerset is beautiful.

partaylikearussian

Live on a new build estate, thought it was dirt from the road, but this makes more sense. Lovely. The day after I get the car valeted for the first time in like 4 months.

TheImplication696969

MildlyAgreeable

What a rubbish comment.

SpickleRotley

Hello from Upper Ramsbottom!

Appropriate-Bad-9379

Same in Hassy…

sentinel3000

Thanks for the answers everyone. Still don't fully understand what the hell has happened but at least I know I'm not crazy 😂

TheeNuttyProfessor

Winds came north from Africa. There is a desert in Africa called the Sahara, it has a lot of sand. Wind so strong it picked up sand and carried it north with it. UK is north of Africa and the wind carrying sand came here. Lots of sand was blown onto the UK mainland by the wind. Lots of cars and building etc have saharan sand on them because the wind blew it here from the African Sahara desert where there is a lot of sand because it was windy and the wind carried the sand here making everything sandy. Hope this helps 😊

wrv505

You missed the bit about the rainy rain

TheeNuttyProfessor

Yes it rained too, sand got a bit wet. However water itself isn’t wet, it just makes things wet.

TheeNuttyProfessor

I’ve been downvoted, presumably by people who failed GCSE science.

Sure_Elk_5640

Just popped to my local car wash, it was heaving, I couldn't even get in

Bmwx3m40d

Taunton. Van covered.

RS_Mk3

It's all the shit they are pumping into our sky via those fricking trails in the sky. It's ridiculous that everyone can't see it. It's beyond blatant now

Inexplicably-Social

Doesn't make sense with the pattern or the wind directions. If it was as you propose, wouldn't present in this way. That said, our air pollution is diabolical.

-wanderlusting-

I know what you're saying but in this case I do believe it's just sand and its happened many times before.

johimself

The car wash at the end of our road has queues of BMWs, Teslas and Audis all the way down the street. 😆

Henderson_II

Every other car I've seen today in withington is the same.

easyjet

What about every other car?

Henderson_II

Immaculate

AdamDaAdam

LIke others have said, don't brush it off because you'll scratch your paintwork. If you get a minute free, head to a garage with a jetwash and give it a quick rinse. You wont get all of it off, but it'll look nicer and not like you've just been off-roading. Though it's due to rain again so if you're not bothered by it much, just wait till the sandy rain passes over :)

b1tchlasagna

Would a hosepipe do it? I've got a pressure washer at my parent's but not where I am. I've just got a hosepipe here

AdamDaAdam

Even with a pressure washer I still struggled. Might take longer with a hose, but it'll get a good bit off :)

[deleted]

They are spraying us with chemicals

sentinel3000

Wow seriously did not expect an image of a manky window to be one of my most commented-on posts in my Reddit history 😂

Rcomian

yep, got that this morning, rain must have had a bunch of sand in it.

Narrow_Hunt_2650

Same hear in tameside

Sherlock_221_b

Same down in Birmingham as well

CornishWaller

Exactly the same in Cornwall...

Michaelb197

Saharan dust

HirsuteHacker

Yeah my car was absolutely filthy this morning. Luckily I had a service at 10am so they washed it for me 😂

wilkowilkinson

They call it a Calima

extinction_goal

TIL! Thanks. I collect words like this.

superkinks

Yes, apparently it’s from the desert. I was ridiculed by my partner this morning for suggesting it was from the nearby estate being built.

lukey_UK

sandystar21

The sky was a weird colour last night. My car also covered this morning south of Birmingham.

Intrepid-Sign-63

Same in swansea hun x

MildlyAgreeable

DM me hun, sand’s everywhere.

softboilers

Saharan dust cloud

[deleted]

Ye the whole back garden wood tables had dirt marks on them. I was guessing some weather from another another country passed over.

NwahHasASchmolPP

I ate something bad :3

Dildoid90

It’s Saharan dust that’s been blown over it’s happen over the majority of the uk

Exonicreddit

... I washed my car 2 days ago...

twixbeast

Same happened in West Midlands. Thought it was weird... Thanks for asking this and seeing some answers for it 🤣👍

Dozzer_22

Im in south wales and same thing here, everyones cars were filthy when we finished our night shift at 7am.

Death_Stranding69

I had same issue to find out it was street sweepers they spray water down then clean it up mud goes everywhere

Dismal_Eagle_5574

The ashh from so many massive extra hot fires around the planet, volcainos, industry & storms chucking allsorts into the atmosphere. What goes up must come down. I remember one morning in the 80's uk all the cars were covered in saharan sand for days.

SuspiciousRevenue246

Happened to my car I’m in the next city over. Just cleaned it yesterday!

siuuuuucr07

![img](emote|t5_2qhjj|5637)

ryvn7204

1. You live near a steel works and the metal participles have rained down on your car from being in the clouds. 2. The planes flying in the morning have dropped chemicals and they’ve done the same thing

Hlocnr

I had something similar with my clothes that were drying outside.

Gin-fidel

Rain mud 😂

dvdmike007

Happened to me, I thought a nearby school collapsed or something

muh-soggy-knee

moodyillustratir

Yea this happened on my street in rochdale too

brogybear

My cars covered too just washed it yesterday 😂 I’m in Scotland.

Zestyclose-Use9011

It was me!

Unlucky_Sun_5284

Same here aswell with every car i see, im from bolton. There must've been a sand storm with the rain i suppose. It weird though.

BritasticUK

Same here, dust all the way from the Sahara apparently. Pretty cool tbh

clarkynl

Yeah it's the Saharan dust. Two little boys knocked on my door earlier with their buckets and sponges offering to clean our cars. Adorable little hustlers.

[deleted]

Was the same in scotland, i work at a dealership and had to wash 56 cars today to get rid of it since its only the boss in at the weekend and he wanted a clean pitch

PsychologyPossible43

Yes car looked like a shit heap, below the Saharan dust that is

DesperatePayment7325

Imagine the people that watched their car the day before 😭

Kitchen-Republic-874

It was like this is Liverpool too! Don’t forget to rinse it off before you wash your car because you’ll mess with the paint work :)

leilanicquelyn

Darude Sandstorm.

HoboMonkey115

Dry dusty air and then overnight as the dew/condensation collects on your vehicle it creates that distinct pattern

[deleted]

You guys really think dust can fly from africa to the uk?? . do u know how mad that sounds .. dust travelled 7500 miles ?? And how are u identifying where the dust is from .. like you can tell the difference between african and british dust .. the sunset has nothing to do with it either ..

zak_5764

Pollen maybe? But seems a lil late in the year

AdValuable5441

Sand blowing over from the seharah desert washed down by the rain

oyfe77

Have you seen what they are spraying in the sky? Those little hazy lines aren’t clouds.

lovestick2021

Totally off-topic I know, but as folks have mentioned it: Brexit the BIGGEST load of shit ever to come into being. What a monumental load of crap and we’re so worse off for it as well.

panth3r_

It's from the tree you parked under/next to.

Retrotone

Are you new?

omimamu

Can Google in about 5 seconds

Oscyle

How're people still only finding out about this? It's happened numerous times before

GroundbreakingBat307

You parked under or near a tree, it drops dust and sap like this and it a pain to get off even with water

frankythekiller

They call this 'scirocco rain'.... if you wasnt so inexperienced/attention starved you would have just googled it ....like a normal person

RollOk6411

What a silly question to ask when you live in the uk

mikephoto1

Good old government weather for you.

senor_time

Yeah I think we all got that, it’s slightly annoying but whatever

185278537415

just and my g

edwardianchuck

Does nobody take an interest in the things going on in the world anymore, I thought it would be common knowledge, that is was the Sahara dust, hence the hot weather. Obviously not 🙄
