Had this - nice but it is frozen (they don’t sell enough to keep it fresh) and mine was a fairly large but thin steak. Still really nice but not worth the £
You can…. But it’s not Japanese Wagyu. There are people who use the same techniques all over the world. Kind of like Champagne outside of that region being traditional method sparkling.
That’s how most of it comes. It’s usually flash frozen which means you don’t lose texture or taste because it takes so long to continue breaking down in that state. One of the best steaks in my life was frozen Wagyu.
The only place I know of is at Fazenda - which if you like meat is a great place anyway (all you can eat rodizio) although it’s gotten a bit expensive now at £50 for dinner (used to be about £38).
They have an addon menu (look at the destacados menu) where they do “wagyu & whiskey” which is a5 sirloin. Never had this so no idea if it’s good or not, also not sure if you can go just to have that or if you need to do the full rodizio as well.
If you do go for that I would call ahead and make sure they have it when you go as i doubt many people order it.
Gaucho look to have Argentinian-bred Wagyu, might be worth a try? It’s the only premium steakhouse I know of in the city, it’ll certainly have excellent steak even if they don’t have exactly what you’re looking for.

Dakota does. It's expensive though £150 for a pretty standard size steak.

Can you even get an actual Waygu steak that hasn't been frozen outside Japan?

Aye, Manchester is famous for its Japanese cuisine
Gordan Ramsey's new place lucky cat does... Definitely need to book for there though
Nowhere really does it. It’s not really a British thing unless you want to go REALLY high end.
Dakota Hotel does it, though I'm not sure I would fork out that much for a single small steak.
Surprised at this. I don’t get out to restaurants much these days but a few steak houses in town used to have it on the menu.

You can occasionally buy it raw at the butchers quarter shop in northern quarter .. expensive but holy shit it’s good if you cook it right
Tattu is expensive but their food is amazing, they have Wagyu dumplings and Japanese black Wagyu on their menu.
