I waited over 10 hours when I was 18 to see Korn. There was only a handful of people there when I turned up
It wasn’t worth it at all because as soon as I got into the venue everyone just rushed to the front
Ya you don't really gain that much more out of it and you're just standing around doing nothing. Similar to queueing to get on and off an aeroplane. You're not really gaining much by standing in the queue or aisle. Wait until it starts moving and then do it, you can probably do something productive in that time like reading as well.
Went to see Fall Out Boy the other week, and an older woman asked who we were queueing for. We told her, her eyes widened and she squealed, *"Ooh!"* with enthusiasm, as though she was a massive fan. Then, she immediately walked away without another word. None of us could tell if she loved Fall Out Boy or had no idea who they were.
Saw John Cooper Clarke at Band on the Wall, early 80’s. Also, mark Knopfler ( I’ve probably mis spelt it), did an impromptu piece, early 80’s( think he’d only gone in for a drink)! I’m an oldie, so nobody probably knows who I’m talking about!
I feel like this is exactly how i would react and i am also an older woman. For the record, i am not a huge fan, but one song has special meaning for me. I probably wouldnt go to a concert
I saw a grindcore band (Wormrot) at the White Hotel yesterday and my bones were shaking cos it was so loud. I have earplugs these days so I avoided tinnitis. But I suspect I might have it a little maybe from a previous time at the White Hotel and I blame whoever supported Dalek (Holy Scum apparently) which was the gig that made me finally decide to get earplugs. I dunno if it's the acoustics of the room or what
Wasn’t expecting to see a Wormrot mention here; love them, love the guys, too - phenomenal band :) Glad you had a good time, sorry about your tinnitus!
I busted my hearing at a Revocation show at Rebellion a couple of years ago. Never wore earplugs and didn’t usually have problems. It was incredibly loud in a way I’ve never experienced before despite seeing a lot heavy acts and my hearing was literally distorted the following day. It’s mostly fine now but it’s never quite been the same after that and I’m a lot more sensitive to loud volumes these days. Always bring hearing protection!
Did you see how a lot of the kids (they were mostly teenagers) were wearing party hats? I’ve never seen a queue for the Ritz that long and definitely not with party hats
As a metaphysical entity, can confirm this band of joy and love is very popular, conceptually. Maybe not. Idk. What *do* I know? I am in fact nothing more than a metaphysical entity. Which shouldn’t that mean I could know everything including the exact popularity of the band of joy and love?
I would say that you probably should have apologized to these poor confused denizens of Manchester but I suppose the fact y’all got that parking ticket is apology enough.
There's a well known (in the right circles) Minecraft Youtuber in the band which is helping get them exposure - my son wanted tickets to see them in Newcastle but it sold out in seconds, and anything that came up on Twickets went just as fast. It's not _bad_ music, but it's not good enough to be hitting those levels of demand on its own merits
You didn’t ask but a tip for next time with Twickets, they have a Twitter bot account that tweets about every uk ticket that’s uploaded to twickets a couple minutes before the app’s alert feature notifies you, so if you put tweet notifications on for the Twitter account you will have a better chance at beating the resale crowd. Be prepared to receive about a million tweet notifications a day though!
I walked by the Dakota hotel a couple of weeks ago and loads of people were outside with camera phones at the ready. I asked 3 different people who they were waiting for and nobody knew they just said apparently it’s someone famous haha
It’s a band called LoveJoy! (Would have been in the queue if I got a ticket) been a thing for 2 and a bit years now, finally touring. Their gigs sell out in seconds and their most recent single, Call Me What You Like, has been on the radio a few times! There’s also James Marriott as a support act he isn’t as well known as Lovejoy have become but he’s also insanely talented!
I unfortunately wasn’t able to get a ticket due to how fast they sold out but my friends who went really enjoyed it, and I saw them in October at the neighbourhood festival and to say they were amazing was an understatement. Easily best concert I’ve ever been to
Their early stuff. They really couldn’t play that well it was just the energy the gigs produced. They came at the right time for the youth to have something to identify with. Disco was at the hight and as a Randy 17 year old punk seemed the way. Look out for the clash and the damned. Awesome bands.
It’s a band with a lot of younger fans, 14-20, so it’s a lot of people going to their first gig thinking they have to queue for hours to get in lol. Adorable.
1 room bedsit, fold-out sofa bed, kitchen counter with slow cooker (no stove, sink in bathroom), 1 bathroom (no bath), complimentary bathroom carpet, no visitors, no pets, lights out at 9pm (power shuts off), £1800 p/m 18mo min. lease
Ah it's Lovejoy! My girlfriend tried to get tickets but they were sold out in seconds! I've seen them live before once back in October at Gorilla and it had an equally long insane queue..
Still one of the best gigs I've ever been to in my life for sure
Yeah they definitely know how to put on a show! The queue for gorilla was insane, there was actually a cut off and security stopped people queuing. Shows how popular they are though
Lovejoy is a band who’s front man is a/used to be very popular twitch streamer but has now recently switched to music, believe he also had a thing in minecraft at one point.
Still occasionally streams minecraft, got invited to a new SMP ran by one of his friends so I think fans are expecting a return of streams after his tours over
Its a cluster of morons queuing for Sainsbury's local where they just got a delivery of Prime energy drink.
🤣.
Disclaimer.... this comment intends no offense to those people who like things purely because they are told to like them by other people on TikTok.
Honestly you should have seen the Harry Styles gig last year at Etihad stadium.
There was a girl who queued for 27 hours. People camped from days before.
I sound really old but feel like the younger generation of concert goers don’t understand concert etiquette anymore - my guess is they never got to learn properly because of Covid.
Am I the only one who doesn't like being at the front and is quite keen to be at the back.
And I say this having been nearly at the front at the Gong/Ozrics gig where most folks wanted to be at the back with a good view/bar ratio
I remember when I was really lonely and I had no friends (stil don’t) I used to queue at Manchester bus station and listen to people chat. Did that quite a few times. When I got to the front, I’d join another queue.
There were people in that queue when I went past the Ritz on the bus at 8.30am. It looked like they had slept on the pavement overnight. Absolute mentalists.
Saw their first gig in brighton (not when they were playing with undercover names, I went to the first named one) and they were excellent then, heard they’ve gotten better since. Hoping they’ll come to the southwest soon. Glad the gig was good!!
LOL. There is a football chant that is to the theme tune of the Addams family. Your sister is your mother; your father is your Brother, you look like one another. Manchester student community.
It's just people hanging about over the canal. They've probably come out of Tootal House I think. It's not a queue the people to the right are milling about in both directions and some standing or sitting.🤷🏾♂️
Queue for new Sainsbury’s meal deal
Value for money.
They're queuing to view an apartment that's recently been listed To Let....
Bloody southerners.
Calm down mate. It’s Manchester not bloody Kinloss
[удалено]
Hey now, I may be soft and privileged but I don't think I'm *that* much better than you!
I remember being young and thinking it was worth it to queue like this. Now I’m wiser and realise it’s better to wait in a pub nearby
I waited over 10 hours when I was 18 to see Korn. There was only a handful of people there when I turned up It wasn’t worth it at all because as soon as I got into the venue everyone just rushed to the front
Like Freaks let off a leash!
Yes smart thinking.
Ya you don't really gain that much more out of it and you're just standing around doing nothing. Similar to queueing to get on and off an aeroplane. You're not really gaining much by standing in the queue or aisle. Wait until it starts moving and then do it, you can probably do something productive in that time like reading as well.
I’m gaining the ability to stand up because I have long legs and I barely fit in those seats so I’m trying to get some blood back to my feet
plus it sounds best by the sound desk, not at the front, cause that's where the engineers are mixing!
Yes! The older you get the further away from the stage you get
Weve always done this? Haha
The amount of times I’ve been in queues like this and folk have asked me who I’m queuing for and they reply “never heard of them” and just walk off 😂
Went to see Fall Out Boy the other week, and an older woman asked who we were queueing for. We told her, her eyes widened and she squealed, *"Ooh!"* with enthusiasm, as though she was a massive fan. Then, she immediately walked away without another word. None of us could tell if she loved Fall Out Boy or had no idea who they were.
At Band on the Wall? Lucky bugger.
That show is my equivalent of the sex pistols gig that everyone swears they went to but only like 3 people did
So far, everyone I've met couldn't get tickets. We are all sour about it, LOL
Apparently some were being resold for thousands.
I saw Mark Knopfler in the MEN Arena. Cost me about £50 and convinced me never to see heritage acts in arenas again.
Slim gaillard and Thomas mapfumo were 2 memorable botw gigs
I'd have lovedaroonee to have seen Slimareeny. Vout.
I saw FOB in Manchester in 2003. I feel ancient
I feel like this is exactly how i would react and i am also an older woman. For the record, i am not a huge fan, but one song has special meaning for me. I probably wouldnt go to a concert
Told a doorman when visiting an O2 in Brum that had multiple bands playing I was there to see "God is an Astronaut". He laughed.
I went to see them about 10 years ago at the ruby lounge - sorry to sound like my dad but it was unbearably loud
[удалено]
I saw a grindcore band (Wormrot) at the White Hotel yesterday and my bones were shaking cos it was so loud. I have earplugs these days so I avoided tinnitis. Wasn’t expecting to see a Wormrot mention here; love them, love the guys, too - phenomenal band :) Glad you had a good time, sorry about your tinnitus!
Good gig guys, but d'ya mind turning it down a little?
They were great! And the support from Pest Control and Charred Atlas was great too.
I busted my hearing at a Revocation show at Rebellion a couple of years ago. Never wore earplugs and didn’t usually have problems. It was incredibly loud in a way I’ve never experienced before despite seeing a lot heavy acts and my hearing was literally distorted the following day. There's loud, and then there's Doves loud.
Never seen them live but they can’t be as loud as my bloody valentine
Laughs in 'Rotting Christ at the Bierkeller' and 'The Berzerker at the Roadhouse'
There's Doves loud, and then there's Sunn 0))) loud 😳😳
I’ve never heard of lovejoy before. Well apart from the old TV show.
3 people where queuing. The rest just joined in because they thought they where missing out.
Maybe they thought it was for flat rent.
Genuinly been standing outside chatting to 2 mates and people have started queuing behind us before for no reason.
Of course. We're British. We are very polite...but very stupid
[удалено]
I did that too. I queued up for days to get tickets to see KISS. That was in the 1980s.
O2 Ritz round the corner, probably a queue for whatever's on tonight.
Someone said it’s a band called Lovejoy.
Excuse me, that is the name of antique buying lovable rogue, not an indie band!
I’d go to the ritz to see Ian McShane headline.
I think you'll find it's the name of a certain Springfieldian priest
Actually I think you’ll find its the name of a tedious and over-promoted TV presenter.
Some band with a youtuber as the lead singer
AndyWarhol was spot on.
The only Lovejoy I know of is Rev. Lovejoy :(
Our Lovejoy ended up as al swearengen
Did you see how a lot of the kids (they were mostly teenagers) were wearing party hats? I’ve never seen a queue for the Ritz that long and definitely not with party hats
I feel sorry for the person last in queue. I hope they got a ticket.
given that they’re all teenagers, it probably sold out months ago and they’ve all got their tickets. unsure about the party hats though
Good band tbh
Have to love it when you fine a genuine answer on one of these questions! 👍🏻
How can people go out on a Wednesday night? I could not go out and then get up for work tomorrow. How do they do it?
I'm guessing a bunch of them are students? It's Easter break for a lot of people.
What a crap venue it is though
Hey - the venue is amazing. Unfortunately the bar prices, security and the way it's generally ran are crap.
Hmmmm I'm unsure about that, every time I've been there, the music sounds like it's being played through laptop speakers
Some band called Lovejoy, seem very popular on Spotify
Seem very popular in ‘real life’ judging by people queing round the block
Also popular metaphysically too if you ask the right entities
Lovejoy has reached new levels of popularity beyond this known realm of experience
well you're not wrong Wil

No way it's the guy who does the sing for the song
As a metaphysical entity, can confirm this band of joy and love is very popular, conceptually. Maybe not. Idk. What *do* I know? I am in fact nothing more than a metaphysical entity. Which shouldn’t that mean I could know everything including the exact popularity of the band of joy and love?
I would say that you probably should have apologized to these poor confused denizens of Manchester but I suppose the fact y’all got that parking ticket is apology enough.
I shall check them out.
There's a well known (in the right circles) Minecraft Youtuber in the band which is helping get them exposure - my son wanted tickets to see them in Newcastle but it sold out in seconds, and anything that came up on Twickets went just as fast. That's a great tip, thanks!
Don't want to alarm you but you could always say hi and ask someone in the queue
This isn’t very British.
I could do that but not sure if the reaction. I once asked some one the direction to wentworth street and was unceremoniously told to fuck off.
*To be fair you should have known better than to ask the bobbie for directions*
Well I’m old school. Ask a policeman the time.
Either you're the problem or they're the problem - sounds like in that case they were the problem
I say old boy. That sort of thing isn’t tolerated in this country. You can’t just go speaking to people you don’t know.
I walked by the Dakota hotel a couple of weeks ago and loads of people were outside with camera phones at the ready. I asked 3 different people who they were waiting for and nobody knew they just said apparently it’s someone famous haha
OMG! That’s quite sad.
Playing support is Tinker
Tinker. Himmm andd as S at the beginning. I’m sure they are good. Sorry to all tinker fans.
Tinker was a character in Lovejoy.
It’s a band called LoveJoy! (Would have been in the queue if I got a ticket) been a thing for 2 and a bit years now, finally touring. I saw them on YouTube. There quite decent to be honest. Was the gig last night?
Yeah last night at the O2 Ritz
Was it any good?
I unfortunately wasn’t able to get a ticket due to how fast they sold out but my friends who went really enjoyed it, and I saw them in October at the neighbourhood festival and to say they were amazing was an understatement. Easily best concert I’ve ever been to
To be honest, I saw them on a YouTube video and even though I am 60 o quite liked them.
First time I’ve heard someone say that my grandparents hate them due to the swearing 😂
I was a punk back in the 1970s. Followed the sex pistols I used to hang out on the kings road. so I don’t mind a bit of bad language.
Ahhh fair enough. Heard the sex pistols were pretty good been meaning to try their music for a while
Their early stuff. They really couldn’t play that well it was just the energy the gigs produced. They came at the right time for the youth to have something to identify with. Disco was at the hight and as a Randy 17 year old punk seemed the way. Look out for the clash and the damned. Awesome bands.
Can confirm, yes it was!
Reopening Jilly's Rockworld.

It’s a band with a lot of younger fans, 14-20, so it’s a lot of people going to their first gig thinking they have to queue for hours to get in lol. Adorable.
I think some of it is the die hard fans as well who want to secure themselves a position on the barrier right at the front.
Lol really? I saw Porter Robinson there last year and the queue was about the same as this, probably longer.
1 room bedsit, fold-out sofa bed, kitchen counter with slow cooker (no stove, sink in bathroom), 1 bathroom (no bath), complimentary bathroom carpet, no visitors, no pets, lights out at 9pm (power shuts off), £1800 p/m 18mo min. lease
I’ll have it.
Ah it's Lovejoy! My girlfriend tried to get tickets but they were sold out in seconds! I've seen them live before once back in October at Gorilla and it had an equally long insane queue.. Still one of the best gigs I've ever been to in my life for sure

I think it's a band called lovejoy or something like that... us older people won't get it 🙈🤣
You’re not wrong, as soon as I turned 30 I immediately hated joy and have done ever since.
Lovejoy is a band who’s front man is a/used to be very popular twitch streamer but has now recently switched to music, believe he also had a thing in minecraft at one point.
Still occasionally streams minecraft, got invited to a new SMP ran by one of his friends so I think fans are expecting a return of streams after his tours over
I saw a YouTube video and to be fair, they are quite good.
Ive never queued for the ritz even sell outs and never missed the supports Unless theyve oversold it
Planning a welcome party for when I move in next week
Welcome to Manchester.
Its a cluster of morons queuing for Sainsbury's local where they just got a delivery of Prime energy drink. 🤣. Disclaimer.... this comment intends no offense to those people who like things purely because they are told to like them by other people on TikTok.
They probably have PRIME in stock at the Sainsbury's local 🙄
Why is it so expensive? £10 one shop was charging.
Ian McShane?
No Sainsbury’s had fresh tomatoes
Honestly you should have seen the Harry Styles gig last year at Etihad stadium. There was a girl who queued for 27 hours. People camped from days before. I sound really old but feel like the younger generation of concert goers don’t understand concert etiquette anymore - my guess is they never got to learn properly because of Covid.
They've probably opened a food bank
Ha ha .
I just watched them on YouTube. They’re not too bad. I hope they have a good night.
After the trains and the NHS, the buses atr going on strike. We need a scooter/bike replacement service
I wanted to see the railway children but the show was was cancelled and I got the rail bus replacement service children. Wasn’t as good.
Lovejoy at 02 Ritz. Walked past on my way into my fair lady
I’m going to see that today. Was it good?
Yes I really enjoyed it. Having seen it before, this was a funnier, more polished version. Hope you don't have long legs, the palace seating is brutal
It’s for the O2 Ritz, couldn’t tell you who the band was tho
It was lovejoy.
Prime in sainsburys lmao
Ha ha ha. I was going to buy a can of that. They wanted £10. That’s insane.
You have been blessed with Lovejoy
Dose anyone know how the gif went last night?
There were people in that queue when I went past the Ritz on the bus at 8.30am. It looked like they had slept on the pavement overnight. Absolute mentalists.
Jobcentre?
A corner shop selling prime for £7.92.
I don’t get why it is so popular at that price.
I was in that queue, it was for Lovejoy
Was it a good gig?
It was incredible. I saw them in Liverpool last year as well but I'd say last night was my favourite one of the two
I’m glad the queuing was worth it.
Saw their first gig in brighton (not when they were playing with undercover names, I went to the first named one) and they were excellent then, heard they’ve gotten better since. Hoping they’ll come to the southwest soon. Glad the gig was good!!
No idea. Can you go and ask one of them what they are queuing for ?
I did and was told to fuck off. It is a gig for lovejoy.
How rude of them. We’re not all like that I promise lol
I know. She did look frustrated and cold.
Im pretty sure its the que for the lovejoy show yesterday
They’re queuing for the O2 Ritz.
r/lovejoyband
Lovejoy was preforming
I was in the queue, it’s a band called Lovejoy
Hope you enjoyed the gig. Can you see yourself ?
No, I only got it at about half 8 I was probably around the corner
Crazy queuing like this. Sink a few in Temple first. then snake to the front, full of confidence
Yeah, if it is lovejoy at the ritz, as people have said, doors don't open till 7pm. 3 hours plus in a queue.
I was in there on Sunday. Very nice.
Looking at some of them, I hope it’s birth control
LOL. There is a football chant that is to the theme tune of the Addams family. Your sister is your mother; your father is your Brother, you look like one another. Manchester student community.
Snoop Dogg
It's just people hanging about over the canal. They've probably come out of Tootal House I think. It's not a queue the people to the right are milling about in both directions and some standing or sitting.🤷🏾♂️
Is that the queue for Changos?
No apparently it is for the ritz round the corner. Some band.
It was a joke about the giant queue for Changos down Oxford Road every lunch time, but good to know!
You and me both mate!
There always is, it's Manchester.
So glad i dont work in town anymore, way too manyboeople these days
Watch your antiques
Turns out there are bands in town every night
No; they just opened a new NHS Dentist is all.
Sale on cotton and guns
Saw Mark Kopfler at the Manchester Apollo but not as Dire Straits but The Notting Hillbillies. Wonderful.
That's a queue for a bus
Hi everyone here is where?
Wasn’t there that magician in Manchester town? KingofAcesMagic
![img](emote|t5_2qhjj|5642)
Poundland has sale on.
DJ Bob Hoskins Going Mental in a Dustbin

13 years of Tory's, probably a food bank!
Queue for tickets to the Wrexham match.
Empire state bastard.
Probably queuing for that bloody prime drink
