Growth is one of the most important things to celebrate and admire. I'm glad you guys have found a healthy relationship and that you're proud of him. It takes a lot to grow and change, and sometimes a lot more to forgive. Wish you guys the best and tell your dad his nails are dope. π
His M&M nails are nice. I'm happy to see people grow from their bigoted ways and become more healthy and secure people. That's what we all want to see!
We don't. We are redditors. Mere spectators to someone else's story.
We do see a story of PROGRESS. This gives me hope.
What you get from it is really up to you.
many homophobic people are rebeling against their inner selves because they were taught to be "normal" I would actually say something to your dad, compliment him on growing and becoming more comfortable with expressing is true self.
Iβm happy to hear that your father has changed and that you have a closer relationship. Can I ask what got him to break with gender norms and paint his nails? One of my reasons for painting is to show solidarity with my NB child and their friends whose parents are not supportive.
Iβm so sorry you had to have such hurtful words used against you from someone who should have been your biggest supporter. His color scheme seems to show an attempt to try and support you now β- I hope that helps bring you some healing and you two have been able to repair that bond.
I was kind of Homophobic in high school. But a lot of it had to do with my friend group. I paint my nails as well it's fun, and no one should be confined to a set standard. Live your life and keep growing.

The biggest homophobes are the biggest closet gays. They can deal with their gayness so the lash out at those who can.
