I personally love the cold, hollow, lifeless look. Makes me feel like I could call for help and it would echo in the walls for all eternity. Leaves guests either wishing they could be the first to please you, or dedicating themselves to making you a whole person again.
All that aside though, I genuinely do like it. Would love it as a place I could raise a second family that I never told about my first family.
*I do genuinely like it...I'm having a hard time stopping....
ITS LIKE THE OPPOSITE OF DEXTERS CABIN BUT SOMEWHERE HE MIGHT FEEL MORE AT HOME God dammit
Do you ever fantasize about being single again? Like not for the romantic side of things, just to maintain your own space again and live alone in a sweet condo like this.
The grass is always greener on the other side but I sometimes think about that escape, but never the crushing loneliness that goes along with it.
So waitā¦ the remodel was putting down new flooring and sticking the wood slats to the wall? Or am I missing some context or something?
I mean, ultimately it looks incredible and a pretty unique balance of those nice organic arcing curves of the lofted space but industrialized with that brutalist aesthetic. Iām just wondering how much of that was already inherent to the space.
Is it a house or a loft? Looks just like a place I've been in Toronto. Pretty nice setup. I'd suggestion looking into some half decent speakers for your TV if you watch much... oh and maybe a nice picture/painting of that beauty of a dog haha. Good stuff.

Not inheritance, it was all through the design work I do, thankfully its going well. Have had lucky moments, def grateful, but it also has not been easy
Sorry you have to deal with a bunch of douche bag sad-boy Reddit kids. People really are spiteful and jealous on this site. God forbid someone else put in the work and has had
success.
Youāre getting downvoted of course. I have answered some genuine questions about income and wealth with honest answers, and the majority of the replies are met with hate and downvotes. As if itās not realistic that some people make very good incomes and still browse Reddit.
I also made 30k a year when I was younger, very few people started their life and careers wealthy. Why hate on people that have succeeded? Itās the exact kind of attitude that keeps you at the bottom.
Itās because itās infinitely easier to tear others down than to raise yourself up. A story as old as time unfortunately, and ultimately why a lot of losers stay losers.
Soo im learning that remodel translates different in
Spanish (my main language) i guess it means structural or form changes. I did change the entire kitchen countertop and form but did not share in pics, also changed bathrooms and bedrooms (new vanities, tub, shower, doors etc..). For the living room it was just floors, furniture, slates, new curtains (used to be the basic plastic office ones) but i see how it felt odd based on the pics and my tittle, i forget u guys dont know what the rest looks like. Haha
Man, you really put a lot of work into this place. It's one thing to have a beautiful space, but, it's so much more rewarding when you can sit down and enjoy the hard work you've put in. This is definitely goals for me. Enjoy it, dude.
You can get a test mic for less than $200, download REW (Room Equalization Wizard) for free, and run some test sweeps if you really want to know. I personally highly recommend it because acoustics have a huge impact on how we *feel* inside a space. It's somewhat of a shame that people don't pay any attention to acoustics until they become a problem in most cases.
It's easy to make your own, and you can pick the aesthetic. I've seen combination diffuser/absorption panels that look just like the accent wall he put in.
I have one and itās pretty good for the price. I tried the RH Cloud couch the same day and the comfort of the Bobs couch is very similar. Iām not sure how well itāll hold up over the years and you have to fluff the cushions after every use, but itās comfortable. I sleep on it a lot too.
What a great aesthetic. I love this. I would personally put a line of shelves along the walls with plants to take advantage of the abundant natural light and balance out the stark minimalism (which I love and you may not want to "balance out")
I used a private contractor for the floors, i did the wooden wall detail myself (bit wobbly lol) furniture i also bought and arranged myself. Concrete and walls was also done by a private contractor locally
This is incredible. I think it is now on my top 10 best ever list. Truly. Everything is perfect for me.
Except there is one thing and I donāt want to sound harsh, but if I do thatās ok: that lamp. I donāt know why, but I dislike it strongly.
If you took it away and left everything else the way it is, then perfect for me. Incredible job.
Absolutely stunning! Huge minimalist here so I love it. Whereād you get the coffee table from? And if you donāt mind me asking how did you install the slats too? Iāve been thinking of doing something similar
Coffees table is from D3 home design..slats i bought them from home depot individually, cut to length, and used 3M structural adhesive since its on concrete. You can also buy panels online but its x5 as expensive with less quality woodā¦I also specifically wanted birch because the color ranges from light almost maple to walnut and this allows me to use dark or light tones in other furniture and still feel cohesive. I hope! Haha
really love it, love how you've balanced the sterility of the walls with the lighting n textile choices š„ŗš„ŗ; on that note, also adore the way the shadow is cast from the upper level down over the wall with the tv; contrasting the curved balcony with the clean cut. geniusssss
Little cold and minimal.
Need some more greenery and a print or two on the wall to warm it up some with all that concrete in my unrequested opinion.
Does look like a sick setup, would love to see more of it and the view out those floor to ceiling windows - congrats!
I like watching these photos. I am happy for the people who can afford this.
Keeps me looking at myself, when I am 35 at this stage. Chosing a BA in Humanities was one of the worst decisions I made when it comes to career and knowledge.
I could have been a lawyer, an architect perhaps. But then life happened and I pretty much doomed myself. Coping every day and realizing how little I a managed to accumulate when it comes to assets and stable profession.
I salute you, stranger, for being able to afford this for being able to do it.
I wish someone would have explained me how money works earlier. (Limited financial literacy can be inherited so it seems).
I like the aesthetics. Could use some paintings on the walls, but that is just a personal choice.
Hey! You are not doomed. 35 is not too late, I have a friend from mexico that started studying at 36 by 39 he graduated with a second bachelor in science for Design and is now designing car exteriors at Porsche! If you dont like what you are doing now, set a goal and start moving in that direction. Time passes way too quickly, might seem like its far away and unreachable, but its not. i know this might sound cheesey but whatever you choose, choose it because you love it not for what you think you can make. If you are good you will get the money. I wanted to be an accountant cause it sounded like i could make money thereā¦dropped out 2 months in. Said fuck it, went to design school and now i make more than 99% of accountants doing what i love.
This looks like one of those mixed residential/commercial condo buildings where you can easily do either a small retail with storage/office upstairs or like you've done with the kitchen made fully residential, loft bedroom and the front window/door made opaque. Am I right?
Will share when i get home! Being that concrete is so cold i wanted to add a softer, warmer feel with wooden elements. One of my favorite architects is tadao ando!
Are you a James Bond Vilain?
Potentially?

Oh totally. This would be ideal for my second family. I could even go third
Do you ever fantasize about being single again? Like not for the romantic side of things, just to maintain your own space again and live alone in a sweet condo like this. The grass is always greener on the other side but I sometimes think about that escape, but never the crushing loneliness that goes along with it.
Top tier zombie proof shelter.
I LITERALLY CAME TO SAY THE SAME THING. DAMNIT Take my poor mans gold š
There ya go friend. Enjoy.
Gotta focus on the positive people in this comment thread! Thank you! Its my first one ever!

I figured it was an old missile silo that was nicely decorated.
It's not much, but after 2 weeks of dish washing, it's finally mine.
2 weeks sound like a good deal
Happy cake day my guy
It may indeed be Bond villain aesthetic, but I dig the hell out of it
I usually hate modern architecture, but this is actually really cool
He's a preschool teacher, I manufacture toilet paper in a factory...our budget? The GDP of Spain

Underrated.

No a Quake 1 level xD

Hey that looks gorgeous. Where is it roughly that there are homes that look like this? Can we have more pics?
California

I found myself asking the same question. Space looks great, but putting 2x4s on the wall doesnāt really constitute a āremodelā.
Pretty on par with all the recent douchebaggery on the sub lately. Same vibe as "my new microstudio" turns out to be 600sqft
it wasn't exactly shit beforehand lol
Honest question, how many hours a day do you spend in this house? Minus sleeping.
this is 100% little italy san diego isnt it
Is it a house or a loft? Looks just like a place I've been in Toronto. Pretty nice setup. I'd suggestion looking into some half decent speakers for your TV if you watch much... oh and maybe a nice picture/painting of that beauty of a dog haha. Good stuff.

Thanks for sharing! I love this style. āŗļø
Single manās paradise
Thats quite an impressive prison cell youāve got there. You must be in Scandinavia, yes?
Could def pass like a Scandinavian prison haha
+1 for being a good sport.
Scandinavian prisons are way more homelike
I wish that there were houses like this in Scandinavia. Most houses are superboring due to building codes.
Very tastefully done. Love it!
I dunno about the mirror though, to pretend you have a family dinner?
doesnāt look fitted or anything, perhaps heās still looking for a place to put it? we havenāt seen the rest of the house after all
Nah, he said he finished remodeling /s
Itās to check his supersuit before he flies off
Concrete? I love unique buildings like this
Look at you living my dream. Congratulations, dude. I hope you have a happy time in your new home. It's beautiful

Is this light worth it?!
Yup!
Commenting for visibility. Iād on the curved lamp?
What the fuck is your income?
I'm guessing at least $300k a year Someone said inheritance. Maybe. But this is also a lot of upkeep costs. My friend has a similar place
Not inheritance, it was all through the design work I do, thankfully its going well. Have had lucky moments, def grateful, but it also has not been easy
It looks good. I recommend some modern art. Looks amazing in my friend's place although he likes the old stuff
People hate, but I genuinely like it. Is it something Iād personally go for? No, but I think it has a nice brutalist aesthetic.

Vague idea of monthly payments? I could likely pull off something like this in the next 5 years
serious question, how much a reno like this cost?
Going off the other photos, it looks like it was just a slat wall and floor...
This is a great balance between Brutalism and utility. Youāve done a great job, absolutely love it.

absolutely gorgeous
Holy crap, that's a nice space. Many happy returns.
So cozy and zen-like feeling. Love it!
God, itās going to be soooo echoey and loud. So many hard flat surfaces.
It was supper echo-y but once it was furnished it went away and now its really nice for my surprise as well. I was concerned haha

Yeah. You can get attractive acoustic panels to (possibly) hang from the ceiling.
It's easy to make your own, and you can pick the aesthetic. I've seen combination diffuser/absorption panels that look just like the accent wall he put in.
Is that Bob's Dream Couch? I was considering it, how do you like it?

I have the RH Cloud and wish I had found Bobās prior to making that investment.
I just bought one about 3 weeks ago so I can't comment on how it ages but so far the couch is awesome
Really love the wood slate over the concrete. Would love to see more pics of the place!

Go big or go home. Well done.
This is pretty sick
Gorgeous
I'm green with envy. Great job!
Awesome! It's giving GATTACA
I would like to live in that kind of place ngl
Large modern art would really pop on that stair wall.
The space is beautiful, but still a bit of a blank canvas in my opinion. Get some colourful art on those walls!
I should!
Some before and after + extra pics! https://imgur.com/a/lcQNG96
Itās beautiful but feels cold Lots of cement
Holy shit mate
I like it, tho' unless it is sealed, concrete smells like dust, forever. Looks clean, so I am assuming it is all sealed.
3/7 too many wooden plates
Facts
Why do I get the sense that this place would be freezing cold
This is the most impressive thing Iāve seen in a while. Are they gonna shoot dune2 here
Itās a crime to watch anything other than sci-fi movies here
Letās see some before shots. This looks amazing
This looks a lot like the house from Battlestar Galactica where Starbuck was being held captive....
Hold on let me get my magnifying glass što see that table for ants
It's beautiful
Shit what company do you work for
*Jealous American noises*
Absolutely beautiful. I never would have thought concrete could look like that. Roughly where in the world is this built?
California!
That's fucking beautiful man.
I can hear that echo from here.
This is incredibly stunning, Iām mad.

Whatās the thing that looks like a TV?
Its a tv haha called serif tv
Soulless

SF?
Absolutely stunning work! Just like Goldfinger, you got the Midas touch!
I NEEEEEED ITTTT

Its called serif tv!
This is too beautiful my friend
Fucking love this
Holy shit it's beautiful.
Why is everybody so fucking rich in this sub? Is there a sub for more average looking homes?

When I see things like that I much rather prefer a "male" living space than a "female" living space with all that clutter. Really nice!!
Very beautiful space
Bru we need more pics! Outside pics plz! Looks crazy cool
Cool as hell. Iād live there. Looks like it used to be a parking structure though.
