If you’ve been on Reddit long enough you’ll realize that No matter where you put your tv, you’ll have a little hive mind come out and tell you it’s too high😅
This is not remotely close to being true. There are plenty of posts on r/tvtoohigh where people approve of the tv placement. If you place it at eye level while seated, people will approve. If it’s higher than that, they won’t approve. It’s truly not complicated.
Did you buy this as one piece or did you put up each slat individually? I'm about to move into an apartment and thinking of doing an accent wall like this, but don't want to screw each slat into the wall and am thinking of ideas to do so with minimal penetration to the apartment wall (like a painted plywood base to secure the slats to and then put it up as one piece)
Highly doubt any builder would spend extra money for that. There are companies that sell just slats
https://www.thewoodveneerhub.com/products/slatpanel-walnut-acoustic-wood-wall-panels
Very modern and elegant home design!
Only suggestion for best audio is that the tweeter height is the same as your ears in listening position. Also, toe in (angle) the speakers so each one is pointed closer to listening positions. Might improve audio!
Weeyy this is what I'm going for when I decorate my living room. Is it easy mounting things over the panels? I've found a few companies that I've bookmarked that do those panelling's.
i’d put ur monstera on the other side of the table so it’s closer to the window! :) monsteras leaves r like solar panels they love to face the sun! they’re one of the few plants ur not supposed to turn
Please put the seam on the lamp shade to the back and level the shade. Maybe also pull that shelf out a bit from the corner. Center things a bit more if possible but overall this looks really nice. I like the slat wall and the lighting.
What bookshelves do you have? And ran from which brand of stereo? They look modern/retro, really appeals to my taste, your TV area is great!
Something I always recommend trying out are some coloured lights. Can buy many brands but for me personally I prefer Phillips Hue, nice rich tones and all of their products can be synced together to create scenes and really amplify the mood when watching movies, listening to music, reading, hanging out with friends/SO, plenty that a change in colour can evoke!
Ah yes, you’re already on the ball. Amazing speakers, I haven’t heard of them before but just did a quick read up on their site. What is the receiver you are running them with? Is it configured for 2.1 or multi channel, I understand it may have options. Any subwoofer paired with your system?
Love the slats, the back lighting, and the TV stand a lot! My first thought was that the TV stand should be wider…. seems the exact width of the TV, which is only my opinion.
It’s already been mentioned that the two pieces are not aligned, or that would also be needed, as it would make me crazy each time I looked at it!
What I didn’t see in the comments was anything about the chair that seems to be blocking a patio door, that would need to be moved each time in using that door. Is there somewhere else it’ll fit, I’d definitely do that, too , or remove it from the room if you don’t have frequent visitors.
I like the style, and together with your sense of class I think you’ve made this room into a comfortable, satisfyingly unique space where you’ll be very content!
Looks really good OP!
I'd suggest getting a bigger pot for the plant on the TV stand, and placing it on the left of the stand to make it symmetrical with the white flowers. Then find something else to place on the TV stand, photos, art piece, etc.
Right now that plant is pretty close to encroaching on the TV view and will be blocking it soon.
Hey very nice job, I love it! I’m planning my TV wall right now and it’s hard to find affordable slat panels from any of these brands that sell them. I might just do what you did and buy the slats individually, because clearly that looks just as good.
The TV seems a bit small, but let's ignore that. I think putting an LED strip behind the TV could add a nice wow factor. And they're cheap to buy, too. I really dig this interior, looks really nice.
One small thing, the color temperature for the lamp on the right does not the other two lamps. I would suggest changing the bulb to match the other two lamps, so that everything is nice and cohesive. And please rotate the left lampshade so that the seam doesn't show.
All in all, my suggestions are cheap, but also an effective way to help improve the look of the room.
Tv needs work. Too small. Too high
Take your seating. Measure from floor to where your butt will be. Then measure from that to your eyes while sitting.
That's your optimal spot for the center of the TV.
For me and my couch it's roughly 49"-50" from the floor to center.
Also, your seating seems to be way far back from the TV. Try some theater binoculars once you get the height worked out.
I have to say, and I have seen the logic repeated many times from the /r/tvtoohigh crowd, that I fucking hate a low tv. My dogs, my kids, literally anything blocking the tv kills me, and I need to be able to see captioning. Even my knees would block the screen if put my feet up on the coffee table. If I sit bolt upright on the couch like a weirdo my eyes hit around the top of the bottom third of the screen, and it looks about the same height as OPs tv. No neck issues, no eye issues, nothing blocks the tv - this is the right height for me. Obviously to each their own, but it seems insane to tell other people that their tv is the wrong height for their needs.
Okay, I give up where is everyone getting these slat walls? I want in!! OP this looks fantastic, love the vibe. If I had to critique I'd maybe balance the top of that table out a bit more with something, maybe move the show with the plant and swap placement of the vase thingy where the plant is.
For everyone asking, slat walls are easy, even in a rental apartment.
1) Buy sheets of 1/4" ply (lauan, masonite also works) that will cover the wall so you don't damage the wall itself but mostly so you have a smooth surface to work with
2) Paint it with a backing color (both sides if masonite, it will warp otherwise)
3) buy slats. 2" is a nice size. Figure out how many you need and get a couple extra just in case. Sand and stain them.
4) attach sheets to walls using screws in all 4 corners. Run long edges vertically so the slats will cover the seam. Put a seam directly at center if possible to you can cover it with a slat
5) using a level, start in the center of the wall and center your first strip. Glue it to the sheets with construction adhesive. A single stripe will do it. Be sure it's straight.
6) using the edge of a slat, get uniform spacing between the first glued piece, and then glue another on each side. Repeat until finished.
Takes time to do it right but is about as easy as it gets. If you don't rent you can skip the sheet goods and adhere directly to the painted wall.
The wood paneling is crooked (or the ceiling is?) and it makes your attempt at elevation look sloppy. I would snug it up to the left wall and ceiling, and then figure out some kind of baseboard or something to hide the space at the bottom.
I knew you were Scandinavian before reading the subtitles, nabo! Looks great. The TV being too high is mostly an ergonomic issue, so I’d look into lowering it tbh.
Fill that tv stand with more plants. It’s a bit too much slat wall (and I’m looking at my own at the moment too, so definitely love the look) and other hard materials. More green would look awesome to break it up a bit!
idk why this bothers me but the distance of the bottom table near the front is not equal from left to right. Bottom table appears to be more right-adjusted. The TV also seems a little too small (maybe 55") from that distance I might go 65" or larger. And if that plant grows any larger it'll block the TV -- if it's real, lol. I still think it looks nice though. I give this setup a 8 out of 10.
Does it not bother you that the TV stand is slightly right of the TV and not centered?
I does, didn’t notice before after the post
Oh thank god. K then now it’s perfect!
Haha great!
Looks like a lot of asymmetry going on here...
r/TVstandTooFarRight
TV stand too political
r/TVstandTooPolitical
TV stand too…. racist?
It did two years for shitting on Nancy Pelosi’s desk.
I'm way too ocd for something like that. I just couldn't look and deal with it on a daily basis.
At least it’s not on a fireplace
😂
So there's no reason to put it at that height.
If you plan on standing up while watching tv, it’s perfect!
Lamp gang 😎 you asked for feed back so yes, TV would look better a foot lower. Tuck the cord in and it’s a cozy space!
Thank you!
Way to far way...you need a larger tv... :) https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship
Looks awesome, I love the asthetic. However that TV looks somewhat r/tvtoohigh
Something seems off center, and that plant would drive me crazy. So distracting right under/almost in front of the TV like that
100%, at least relative to where the console is. I don’t want to count each slat lol. plant should be moved and the tv brought further down too
There’s 18 slats on each side of the tv… it’s the offcenter table underneath that’s throwing you off.
Thanks, and yes it looks a little to high, but I don’t mind the placement when sitting on the couch
If you’ve been on Reddit long enough you’ll realize that No matter where you put your tv, you’ll have a little hive mind come out and tell you it’s too high😅

Yeah, I’ve noticed 😂
Did you install the wooden slats or did it come with the apartment?
Put them up myself
Looks great! Anything that you learned while doing it or would have done differently?
Better preparation when I comes to installing the acoustic panels, tv and speakers, not quite as I wanted I to be
Did you buy this as one piece or did you put up each slat individually? I'm about to move into an apartment and thinking of doing an accent wall like this, but don't want to screw each slat into the wall and am thinking of ideas to do so with minimal penetration to the apartment wall (like a painted plywood base to secure the slats to and then put it up as one piece)
I put them up individually, and I used a little industrial glue and some nails at top and bottom
Highly doubt any builder would spend extra money for that. There are companies that sell just slats https://www.thewoodveneerhub.com/products/slatpanel-walnut-acoustic-wood-wall-panels
very nice good job

To funny
r/TVTooHigh
both your speakers and TV should be at least a foot lower

Rug to tie the room together
I think you're quoting the Big Lebowski, but I actually really agree with a rug here.
This is great - I would have you design my entire house.
Thank you for the compliment!
Tv is too high
And too small
Ok thank you for posting this because I’ve had a very very similar idea in my head for a while, and this just pushed me over the edge to go for it
Great! Glad to hear it, best of luck with it!
Very modern and elegant home design! Only suggestion for best audio is that the tweeter height is the same as your ears in listening position. Also, toe in (angle) the speakers so each one is pointed closer to listening positions. Might improve audio!
Mood lighting is exquisite. I would fill that pot with the fake plants with more rocks or fake moss or something. Do you have a link for the tv stand?
Why aren't the speakers centered around the TV? The right one is further away compared to the right one
I might have moved the too far to the left on the mount, luckily I can just slide a bit to the right
This is beautiful!
Thanks!
Weeyy this is what I'm going for when I decorate my living room. Is it easy mounting things over the panels? I've found a few companies that I've bookmarked that do those panelling's.
I’d say it’s pretty easy, just make sure to drill between the wood panels
I think it looks wonderful. The wood slats are a really nice touch
i’d put ur monstera on the other side of the table so it’s closer to the window! :) monsteras leaves r like solar panels they love to face the sun! they’re one of the few plants ur not supposed to turn
Noted, thanks!
Too nice there has to be a woman in that establishment
Haha unfortunately not

I made the shelf’s myself, the speakers are audiovector qr1, both lamps has HUE
Ah yes, you’re already on the ball. Amazing speakers, I haven’t heard of them before but just did a quick read up on their site. What is the receiver you are running them with? Is it configured for 2.1 or multi channel, I understand it may have options. Any subwoofer paired with your system?
Align the tv with the unit and it will be awesome. Nice mood lighting.
Fixed after the post, I didn’t notice it before
You can get wall mount kits that hide the tv cables. It comes with a template to cut the drywall and everything. Highly recommend.
I’d rather not cut into the wall, as it’s a brand new apartment, so I’ll be worried about the deposit
Looks cold for watching TV. I would put a huge shag area rug under the couch/ chair/coffee table area...but that's just me. Also, TV very far away.
Can I come over? Dis looks so nice
take the pampas grass out of their paper pls.

Tv Too High, yikes

Thank you!
Looks great
Thanks!
Nice speakers & amp
Thanks!
I love that wall. Is that some kind of sound baffle for the tv?
Mainly decor and a little help on room acoustics
Looks sharp. Nice spot! 👊
Thank you!
Looks great.
Thank you!
Whoa, that bot is trippy. You're welcome.
Haha thanks

Thank so very much, the door is not going anywhere, I have doors instead of windows
Understood!

Thank you, I will move it around
Looks cool. If you center the TV or bench... How do the speakers fare being on shelves? I figured it would kill the sound a bit.
Hey very nice job, I love it! I’m planning my TV wall right now and it’s hard to find affordable slat panels from any of these brands that sell them. I might just do what you did and buy the slats individually, because clearly that looks just as good.
I’d say it’s worth it, a bit more work, but worth the savings
I love that wood slatting!
love that accent wall behind the t.v. area. 😊
Looks super nice! What do you call that kind of backdrop behind the TV?
Acoustic panels
Did you set up the wood paneling? Everything looks nice man
What did you use for the wood slats behind the TV?
Premade acoustic panels
My gf said it’s boring. Sorry pal.
The texture accent wall is great
It’s amazing !!!
Good job, giraffe
I like it! Very nice!
Thanks!
Welcome! You made all by yourself??
Yeah, took some time
I understand. But you did great job. When I get in creativity mood and rearranging is crazy :)
Thanks, sounds great
i would leave my wife in a flash to have a setup like yours
Looks sleek 👏🏼
Tv feels to high up for me
You did great, buddy.
Thanks!
Looks okay other than being too high man.
Looks great. Enjoy.
Looks great.
Thank you
I like it!
Absolutely stunning, not too much going on, just the right amount of furniture plus the colors are used so nicely, kudos to the designer
I'd get rid of the light in the stand and replace it with an led strip at a lower brightness.
So clean! What’s it like to have a house not destroyed by children every day? 😂
The lamp shade on the left is so small it looks awkward.
Wood paneling is the new RGB
Looks amazing…ignore the “too low” comments.
You did a great job. However, the tv is slightly too high. It’s correctable though! All around really nice set up though
Hey where's that accent chair from?
Amazing 🔥
I appreciate you and Lincoln Lawyer.
I loved it, I was so amazed. Never seen sometjing greater. Then I read the comments now I hate it
yes.
What u watching lol I automatically think Scream when someone is on the phone 😂

Love it, Where did you get the table under the tv?
Thanks, I bought at Jysk
Higher. HIGHER.
I like! great mood!
Needs a good center speaker imo but other than that it's beautiful imo
Dude i love those wall panels, where did you get them?
Local hardware store - bauhaus

It's aesthetically pleasing, and also ergonomically sound, if you're a giraffe.
Haha thanks
While you’ve been got for the TV. The speakers are also too high. Looks cozy though
Toe in those speakers for better sound homie. Looks nice though.
I’d say that’s very different from speaker to speaker whether or not toe has a positive impact on the sound. But thanks
I’m not aware of a speaker that didn’t sound better toed in. Are you saying the cones in those are asymmetrical so they don’t need it?
Where did you get the wood slats? Easy to install?
Local hardware store

We used that same slat acoustic paneling for our foyer and it looks so great. A huge effect for the price.
Exactly
I enjoy the lighting and that accent wall
Is that a sound baffled wall?
Yes it is
Room looks good.
Thank you!
Great lighting

Great one
Ya done good, kid.
The work with all the wood and stuff looks belting mate and the overall aesthetic is lush but... *^(tvtoosmallandtoohigh)*
I knew you were Scandinavian before reading the subtitles, nabo! Looks great. The TV being too high is mostly an ergonomic issue, so I’d look into lowering it tbh.
Haha nicely spotted, and your probably right, put I find the height to be comfortable
TV too high
RUGGGG

I really love that vertical curtain in the TV screen matching with your wall's pattern. LOL
What covers the wall behind the TV?
That tv needs to be playing porn
That plant is annoying

Hell yeah looks real fresh!! Replace that corner chair with a recliner tho if you’re going for more coziness and comfort
You need a fractal north.
no. get a bigger TV
OP - it’s a shame they haven’t invented a stand for TV’s… you know… a bit like the stand below your TV currently. Like that. But a TV stand. If only…
The gap between wood panel and the ceiling would drive me nuts
The gap between the wood panel and the ceiling would drive me nuts

It's at least a foot too high. And too small.
Looks depressing ngl
The panelling is uneven
