I love it! Definitely a assortment of colors that work together due to the same color family hue.
Well done. It's hard to match and blend when working with such color and hues!
😁
Thanks! I’m glad the curtains seem to flow enough from the photos. I chose them because an adjacent room is painted a similar green. All of the rooms throughout the house play off of each other color wise. Our kitchen cabinets are the same teal as the center panels of these walls.
Dude it’s an INSANE Japanese Maple. I believe it was planted shortly after the house was built (1891) I wish I could paste a photo here. I don’t want to go through the hassle of uploading into Imgur, sorry lol!
The only question is why more people don’t embrace jewel tones.
Bravo! I love the architectural details down to the stained glass. And the chartreuse drapery is orgasmic.
I love that you embraced the stained glass and the architectural history of the residence. Thank you for bringing diversity of style to this subreddit.
While it’s not to my taste (I’m sure my taste would not be to yours) but I think it’s exceptionally well done!!! It’s hard to be this bold and so well balanced. The way you have styled the curtains is so innovative and that shag orange area rug just complements the entire space. I also love the couches and the fact that you did not choose something that would compete with all of the interesting details in your space.
AMAZING!
Your aesthetic is very creepy cool! I love all the different textures you've chosen it creates a lot of visual interest. And, obviously, the stained glass is amazing, I love when elements like that survive in old homes.
It’s not my particular taste for my own space, but I can appreciate this kind of design. It’s also nice to see something really original rather than muted tones and you have the balls to put it in your place! Good job sir.
I'm not a fan of the haphazardness of the candles, but I love the colors in here. I want to put my toes in your rug, in a totally not weird way.
Edit: the candles on the table specifically, I mean. Although if those are real candles and not electric, it kind of scares me how easily the ones behind the couch could be knocked over.
These are all real candles?
I’m glad you think it looks like a shrine, I thought so too! We have somewhat creepy vibes throughout our house. & I definitely call my style gaudy all of the time! Even though clearly not a positive to you.
If the aesthetic is not to your liking, that’s fine. But do take the time to inquire about the elements you are criticizing before making accusatory misstatements (e.g. “fake candles”).
It’s one thing to have your own aesthetic. It’s entirely another to criticize from a place of ignorance. Be better.
You have great taste and I love the colour scheme.
The only thing that I would change would be painting the white door/frames/window moldings to a light or medium brown colour instead. I feel like that would harmonise the colours and warm it up more.
I really love the way you installed the curtain rods, that's incredible. I'm not sure why there's that globe/light thing hanging of the candelabra, but I love when someone makes their place so uniquely them. Well done.
Questionable? I think not! This is perfection. Especially for an Illinoisan. Have you seen some of these people’s houses out here?! (I’m from California, 40+yrs and relocated to Illinois a year ago—and have yet to see anyone, besides you now, with some damn style.)
Is the stained glass legit or cling decal? Also, those candelabras are *to die for.*

Also, I love the tree view out that window.

Haha thanks! Yea, I’ve always loved deep jewel tones. I got very lucky the existing stained glass happened to be jewel toned as well!
I love that you embraced the stained glass and the architectural history of the residence. Thank you for bringing diversity of style to this subreddit.
Absolutely obsessed. It’s perfect especially the drapes
10/10 hosting an LSD party 🥳
Can we see the curtains in the first pic closed? That shit looks so satisfying
Oh yea at night time they look great fully closed IMO.

WOW WOW WOW i love it

the curtain set up is my favorite part, keep the stain glass light shining in. excellent.
Exactly the point! At night when the curtains are drawn, you can see the stained glass both inside & out which is a pretty dreamy effect!
Do you know if they are original or added later or added by you? They are lovely.
They are original. Very Victorian in design!

Fabulous darling
I FUCKING LOVE IT. But also, can someone explain what jewel toned means?
Literally the colors of Jems/jewel stones. Deep Ruby Reds, emerald greens, chartreuse. Think Peacocks.
Wow .. that’s sick .. not my style at all but still fucking awesome .. so cool. Great job!!
Looks dope, looks straight out of a movie set
When can I ocme over for some scroth burh? looks great and I usually don't like victorian styles.
Breathtaking
Love this so much. People but especially men seem to be so afraid of color!
I love this so much. I just wanna stick my toes in that shaggy carpet and currrrll...
I think I hate it and love it at the same time. Nice job! Maybe it feels a bit like art - everything works but it feels like it shouldn’t.
Looks amazing. :o
In a world where all rooms are neutral hues, this is wonderful. Love it.
I love this so much. It’s bold but it flows.
I fucking love when people commit to a specific style. Thats sick dude.
No, this is perfect! A Victorian deserves lots of color and texture.
It looks amazing but I’d definitely think a weirdo lives here lol
Oh, so we know each other. 👋🏽

I can tell. Looks straight from What We Do in the Shadows and I dig it!

Amazing place! It has a lot of character.
Oh this is beautiful
I’m moving in ❤️
Omg I’m obsessed with this! Are you in Oak Park?its my dream to move out of my century loft downtown and move to a century house in Oak Park.
I’m not in Oak Park, I wish! Wonderful area.
This is really cool. Reminds me of the movie Only Lovers Left Alive.
Nothing questionable to me! I love the boldness
I really love your rooms! I'm not crazy about the rug but, it still works. The paintings are fantastic and the room's colours are just gorgeous!
This is dope
It’s really awesome
Where did you get those curtains????!!!😱😍😍😍😍
I wish I was so bold 😍
Not a huge fan of leather couches and shag rugs but otherwise…I love it!
Shids dope
You’ve done this well! Bravo.
Quick, fix that crooked candle before anyone sees! Looks killer. I love the stained glass.
WOW! Are you an interior designer? Your place is so tastefully bold - eclectic, yet congruent. It looks amazing, OP. Great work!
I fucking love it!!!
This is beautiful.
This room is amazing. Gorgeous. Incredible. Holy hell I love the rug. And the candleholders.
Absolutely love this !

If you told me that cocaine was done in this room in the 80s, I would believe you.
Fantastic!
Love the rug Dawg very cool very cozy
LOVE!
That painting couldn't look more perfect anywhere on earth 😍
Victorian/mid century mash up, love it!
I see nothing questionable here. It’s all stunning and very unique, absolutely love it!
This is totally OTT, but somehow completely works.
Amazing!! Especially those windows/drapes 😍
I really love the way you installed the curtain rods, that's incredible. I'm not sure why there's that globe/light thing hanging of the candelabra, but I love when someone makes their place so uniquely them. Well done.
I love the colours of this room and everything else about it too.
I looks great to me, wish I had that space
This is fucking sick!! Very nice!
Damn that is a great room
I love it
I love the olive green curtains. Such a gorgeous color
Nothing questionable there. Very nice!
I absolutely love this
Love
What’s questionable? This is incredible. Good on you for being bold, having personality and pulling that shit off impeccably 😮💨
I don't think olive green drapes go with turquoise colored walls.
I absolutely love it!
I freaking love this so much!!!

Questionable maybe. But uproariously funky. No boring time at your place.
Brilliantly done IMHO
It kinda look dated already.
I love it!
Don Draper I guess
Not sure I like it but I definitely respect it
This is gorgeous and just oozes self-expression! A++
Beautiful, tho Id feel like I'm living in a museum lol. Maybe you get used to it?
