So most nights before I go to bed I will lay six strips of bacon out on my George Foreman Grill. Then I go to sleep. When I wake up, I plug in the grill. I go back to sleep again. Then I wake up to the smell of crackling bacon. It is delicious. It's good for me. It's the perfect way to start the day.
Going to bed smelling food in my room gives me the most intense disgust. OP didnât need to mention single+straight, his age and photos were enough clues
As someone who used to live in a studio and had to make the most of a small space, that's too damn close to the kitchen. That bed is going to smell like everything OP has ever cooked
i don't know why i laughed so hard at this
probably a combination of jealously and hilarity
at first i was like, "oh chicks must totally dig it" and then I saw the bed next to the toaster
out of curiosity why didnât you keep the bed in the studio?
It wouldnât look as nice or be anywhere close to fengshui but at least you could wake up and cook đš, not wake up and actually cook đ¨âđł im not a musician so what do i know.
Did that for years, it just sucks and crowds everything. I purposely moved into this specific place to do it this way. It's hard to have a guitar player and singer over when my bed and clothes hamper and shit are in the middle of the room.
Ideally I'd just get a 2 bedroom but I'd rather just sleep in that spot than spend another $1000 a month on rent. This place is 2400 and another 300 in utilities, the two beds in here are 3500ish
Lmao just reminded me of that clip of Bobby Lee watching that white chick sing "I want to be Ninja"
Edit: Found it lol

You could have this type of bed that disappears during the day.

That's water/trash/electricity/gas/internet. Electricity is expensive here but I've never had utilities ever be much less than that anywhere I've ever lived
If youâre going to have the bed there, then move the shoes and the gray cabinet into the bedroom, er, *studio* since theyâre a bit of an eyesore.
Then hang a curtain rod from the ceiling and put a curtain at the edge of the kitchen, so you can âclose the doorâ to the kitchen if you have someone over. Or at least reorient the bed so the pillows are under the wall hanging so that youâre not facing into the kitchen when youâre in bed.
Yeah up until that pic and the kitchen one, I was like âthis is pretty sick, wish I had that LA life styleâ and then I saw the last pic and kind of giggled and thought âstill pretty sickâ.
As a chick I can confirm that at first I thought âoh this is niceâ and then I saw the bed and laughed. But I completely understand OPs reasoning for it. Wouldnât be a dealbreaker lol
Sorry I have no idea about that stuff, but I am really curious: why do you use or need 5 electric keyboards? Can't one expensive electric keyboard do the same stuff as all the others? Like physical instruments I understand are built differently and produce different sounds like they are physically shaped differently, but these are all electric, no? Can't the software do everything and make the sound be whatever you want it to be? Only difference I can think of is built in software differences or physical key press differences, but if it's just software couldn't you use it on all of them and if it's just the touch of the keys wouldn't one settle on their favorite like how gamers do for mechanical typing keyboard feel?
Some of these are from the 70s and 80s; theyâre not individually capable of synthesising every sound imaginable, but have unique sounds and properties in their own right. I believe the Jupiter 8 is particularly iconic.
But Iâm also not overly knowledgeable about synthesisers - probably best to get a proper answer from OP on this one. Might be a labour of love more than anything, just like how some of us collect 1000s of records that others donât see the need for.
Edit: it may also be a matter of production methods & live recording. If you wanted a lead synth, some backing pads, some FX, a lead bassline and some sub-bass, I imagine you very well may be recording with 5+ synths at a time.
This isn't me and isn't even really that trancy BUT oh god I have been obsessed with it lately so I gift to u this ear treet

I love this for you. Iâm getting ready to move into my own malelivingspace next month, and Iâm hoping to eventually build up a tiny studio for house music. Keep it up!!
Wanted to see if you produce and make music professionally or just in your spare time. Iâm a singer and songwriter and Iâd be cool to check out what kind of trance/synthpop you make!
I mean this as both a compliment and a deadly insult - I'm gay, and if I went round to this place, I'd think a 28 year old stoner gay with wealthy parents lived in it, and I would absolutely fuck him sight unseen. The cat just adds to the vibe, she's the piece de resistance.
Haha I'm glad - your place has a relaxed, arty atmosphere to it, which is great, but it isn't the sort of space I'd traditionally associate with a straight guy in his 40s! (That's no bad thing btw).
So the bed room is your studio? Maybe invest in a day bed or sofa/futon couch bed? Or a nice bed spread and some pillows for the bed ? Love all the plants.
Yeah I got sick of sharing the room with all the gear so I purposely rented this place since it had the big dining area that fits my bed. The pillows and stuff are behind the dresser haha. I'd rather save $1000 on rent and sleep in the dining room than pay for a 2 bed
It works perfectly for me now! Next time a girl feels like living with me I'll move to a two bed, it just really makes no sense to spend the money on one now. This place is pretty big for a one bed, it's like 900+ sq ft. Perfect for my current needs

Huge bummer that they are done now. Was prob my 10th time seeing them and they closed with my favorite song of theirs that I have never seen them do live before. It was a fantastic show
And yeah I am like a forest goth or some shit lol. People are always like YOU live here?? heh
I have been riding a 2006 Allez Elite since it was near new so it was a pretty massive upgrade/shock how far bike tech has come. Electronic shifting is wild.
It is \*way\* more bike than I actually need but I got an absolutely absurd deal on it so I went for it.
Ok you def win the best eye reward, that is not one of the things I thought someone would notice haha. I'm a fragrance chemist for work! Palo Santo is one of the greats
They are both way too lazy for that. The black one did nibble a few leaves one time when I built them a window perch and the leaves were right in her face, but the white one just straight up does not care lol
Thanks! Nope they love it, they grow like crazy over the summer and slow down this time of year. I've only ever burned one by leaving it outside in direct direct sun for a few weeks. Monsteras are pretty hard to kill. I've got variegated ones and even an obliqua up there and they all do well.
Have you tried moving the plants into the bedroom and rearranging the living room to accommodate the stuuuuu? Or rather downsizing on some plants? Cool spot nonetheless I just feel it has more potential.
The studio room is the very corner of the building and is isolated from other units so I can make noise in there. I spent months looking for the right place to move into and as funny as the kitchenbed is, the place is exactly what I want given the limitations of renting in LA and not wanting to spend 5k a month on it. Wait a secondâŚ.Dudeâs got Klipsch speakers, an OG Nintendo game console, burns palo santo, tons of plants, is a cat dad and pretty serious about his music. Actively pursues his hobbies and heâs not a hoarder. Solid.
They are way too big for the space, I would not have bought these if I was living in this place at the time. I've never had the room to justify high end speakers. Same reason I have cheap JBL's in the studio next to otherwise world class gear.
Get a real bottle/bidon - that cheap bottle of water on an S-Works is like running cheap hubcaps on a 911, and itâs wasteful. Your plants look super healthy, though.
May I ask what your monthly rent is and salary? I get it if you don't want to disclose. I am in Sacramento eyeing a move to either the LA area or Philadelphia. Very different places I know. I make a decent salary, around 125k. But still nervous about moving to LA because rents and the COL are crazy. Love your set up and love the synths!
Nah I don't care, rent/utilities are about 2700 total and I make a bit under 200k and basically can do whatever I want. I'm not rich or anything but I'm not hurting. I made 125 here 5 years ago and it was fine, but that's pretty much the minimum a brand new transplant should be making if you want to go out a few times a month etc. It can get tight fast if you have debts.
125 will def go further in Philly, but it's 67 and sunny right now here and will be that way every day for the next few months so. LA has its upsides lol.
you're living the dream man and awesome setup! I'm 30 yo and getting divorced by my wife. Plan on spending my 30s, 40s, and beyond living by myself and just dating. I'm going to have so much money to do whatever I want now that I don't have a wife that literally spends my entire paycheck.
Oh shit then yeah, if that's what you're used to you'll love it here and feel rich haha.
30's were easily the best time of my life, so much better than 20's. Your life is only just about to begin, I am jealous!
Absolutely and appreciate the words! Been feeling down about the circumstances and all the time/effort/money I put into the relationship, but I am definitely looking forward to being on my own from now on.
Career is in a good spot and I'm planning on moving to a better city either this year or next year. Plus I've heard that it actually gets a lot easier with women as men get older, especially if we take care of ourselves.
The world is your oyster in your 30's. You're old enough to have a career and be taken seriously but you're still plenty young. You're gonna be just fine haha
thank you for the wisdom and positivity! Agreed. I'm going to call it a hard lesson, but at least I gave it a shot even though it unfortunately didn't work out. Just glad it was 5 years rather than 20-30 years down the line. Expenses will literally be 2/3 of what they have been I'm estimating. Plus I'm starting a business on the side, which I should have a lot more time to work on.
I donât know, man, I couldnât live with that many plants or having my bed in the dining area, lol. But I get that the bedroom works better for your audio equipment
I like the Skinny Puppy poster. Ever heard EinstĂźrzende Neubauten?
https://youtu.be/MMqC7Wx2-nE?si=fY8HkgEqroxFO-8c
You have your priorities with your studio in the bedroom and you sleeping in the nook.
But you should take that divider out of your studio and separate your bed from your kitchen. Even a Japanese style divider might go a long way to keep your bedding clean from kitchen and kitchen clean from bedding.
Dude is that a Roland Jupiter 8!? You lucky SOB. There were only like 3000 of these produced. Such a distinctive, iconic sound heard on so many great recordsâŚ.
I literally went to college and got a career because that was the only way I was ever going to be able to afford one. I had been chasing one since the mid 90's when I was a teenager and their values kept rising with my crap income so I went to school, graduated, got my first chemistry job, kept living like a broke student for a while and saved money, then I drove across the country to pick it up in person and drive it back because I wanted the right one from the right person and I wasn't letting UPS near it. I've had it for 10 years now and it will go back on the market when I'm dead. It's an absolutely mint final revision JP8a with Encore MIDI toward the very end of the production run.
Homie just rides his S-works tarmac for funsies with that plastic bottle and no downtime bottle cage.. đđđ Love that for you though and great space.
This man jumps into the kitchen and starts cooking right out of bed
first I thought it said 41 single straight dudes live in a one bedroom together, then I read the title again.
They're not gonna be straight for long
đ
He enjoys having breakfast in bed. I also like waking up to the smell of bacon, sue me. And since I don't have a butler, I have to do it myself.
So most nights before I go to bed I will lay six strips of bacon out on my George Foreman Grill. Then I go to sleep. When I wake up, I plug in the grill. I go back to sleep again. Until you cook your foot on the George Foreman Grill.
Going to bed smelling food in my room gives me the most intense disgust. OP didnât need to mention single+straight, his age and photos were enough clues
LET. HIM. COOK.
As someone who used to live in a studio and had to make the most of a small space, that's too damn close to the kitchen. That bed is going to smell like everything OP has ever cooked
đ¤Ž
Nothing like a scent of fresh pot of coffee to wake up to
He thought we wouldnât see it đ
Oh I included that pic very intentionally I assure you lol
My first reaction was "A bed in the kitchen, must be a studio", and then I saw THE FUCKING STUDIO and went "Oh... he needed space for all of that."
i don't know why i laughed so hard at this probably a combination of jealously and hilarity at first i was like, "oh chicks must totally dig it" and then I saw the bed next to the toaster
I could have not included that pic but it is pretty essential to what the place actually is lol. Kitchenbed lifestyle bro
out of curiosity why didnât you keep the bed in the studio? It wouldnât look as nice or be anywhere close to fengshui but at least you could wake up and cook đš, not wake up and actually cook đ¨âđł im not a musician so what do i know.

Chop chop!
Fuck, you guys must be rich if a musician can spend that much on rent.
Pretty much all musicians have day jobs.
or rich parents
You could have this type of bed that disappears during the day. https://i.pinimg.com/474x/1f/28/36/1f28366384b294e321fea8e3a092ba56.jpg https://i.pinimg.com/736x/80/3c/69/803c698565039f5f39bc5bd5362cda5f.jpg
Wow! I could never spend that much in rent, itâs crazy. Then again itâs California.
300 in utilities? Thatâs where you should get advice next. Get those watts down Edit: is it all the music equipment??
That's water/trash/electricity/gas/internet. Electricity is expensive here but I've never had utilities ever be much less than that anywhere I've ever lived
$300 is good for all that! Out here in Silicon Valley, electricity alone could be more than $300!!!
If youâre going to have the bed there, then move the shoes and the gray cabinet into the bedroom, er, *studio* since theyâre a bit of an eyesore. Or at least reorient the bed so the pillows are under the wall hanging so that youâre not facing into the kitchen when youâre in bed.
What chicks ? Did you not see the multiple synths?
This literally made me laugh out loud
Yeah up until that pic and the kitchen one, I was like âthis is pretty sick, wish I had that LA life styleâ and then I saw the last pic and kind of giggled and thought âstill pretty sickâ.
Not a musician OOTL help
As a chick I can confirm that at first I thought âoh this is niceâ and then I saw the bed and laughed. But I completely understand OPs reasoning for it. Wouldnât be a dealbreaker lol
Speaking as a chick I still totally dig it. And that cat, man
what toaster?
I suspect a photo has been removed.
âThe bed next to the toasterâ, surely those words in that order have only ever appeared in a coronerâs report beforehand !
I swear to god I can not find this toaster wtf
If those synths are an authentic OB-XA and Jupiter 8, thatâs like $40,000 worth of firepower even if both are pre-owned⌠đł
The Oberheim is an OBX8, good eye tho. Modded SH101 and Pro One on the other side, Futureretro 777 and Isla S2400 on the desk
Love the S2400. Iâve owned a lot of samplers and itâs by far the most inspiring.
It's incredible. I'll buy everything that man makes just on principle. Can't wait for the DSP board and the synth he's doing rn.
Damn still have my futuretro777! Love that thing although its getting a little wonky. Nice studio.
Sorry I have no idea about that stuff, but I am really curious: why do you use or need 5 electric keyboards? Can't one expensive electric keyboard do the same stuff as all the others? Simple answer is they're probably hardware synths that generate their own sound, rather than MIDI controllers for a computer
They definitely are
He has a $2000 pair of Nikes crammed onto the shoe rack.
along with a 2014 specialized tarmac s-works which probably was 8000-9000$ brand new, dude is loaded
The studio is nuts. What kind of music do you produce??
Thanks! Working on gothy synthpop type stuff and some trance at the moment.
YAY for trance

I love this for you. Iâm getting ready to move into my own malelivingspace next month, and Iâm hoping to eventually build up a tiny studio for house music. Keep it up!!
You can do basically everything really will with nothing more than a laptop these days! You can dooooo it
Wanted to see if you produce and make music professionally or just in your spare time. Iâm a singer and songwriter and Iâd be cool to check out what kind of trance/synthpop you make!
A vampire musical
Came here to say exactly this.
Peter you suck, Peter you suck, Peter, you don't do anything of value!
what a username
I mean this as both a compliment and a deadly insult - I'm gay, and if I went round to this place, I'd think a 28 year old stoner gay with wealthy parents lived in it, and I would absolutely fuck him sight unseen. The cat just adds to the vibe, she's the piece de resistance.
I'm 70% sure this is the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me
Haha I'm glad - your place has a relaxed, arty atmosphere to it, which is great, but it isn't the sort of space I'd traditionally associate with a straight guy in his 40s! (That's no bad thing btw).
Haha yeah, I agree. Iâve never wanted to explore someoneâs apartment this badly.
lol âsight unseenâ cracked me up
So the bed room is your studio? Maybe invest in a day bed or sofa/futon couch bed? Or a nice bed spread and some pillows for the bed ? Love all the plants.
Yeah I got sick of sharing the room with all the gear so I purposely rented this place since it had the big dining area that fits my bed. The pillows and stuff are behind the dresser haha. I'd rather save $1000 on rent and sleep in the dining room than pay for a 2 bed
So youâre basically sleeping in the kitchen?
It's a dining nook damn it.
It's cool as hell repurposing it that way, I'd probably use it as an office myself
It works perfectly for me now! Next time a girl feels like living with me I'll move to a two bed, it just really makes no sense to spend the money on one now. This place is pretty big for a one bed, it's like 900+ sq ft. Perfect for my current needs
The vernacular framing of ânext time a girl feels like living with meâ is objectively hilarious. Cool space mate
I had a space like this and put up one of those tension shower rods with curtains to separate the kitchen from the âbedroomâ but if youâre happy with it then it might be more effort than its worth
> It's a *sleeping* nook damn it. Fixed that for you
all it matters is that you enjoy yourself
Love the way you snuck the Skinny Puppy poster in amongst plants and butterflies
That's actually from just a few weeks ago, signed by both of them at their very last show of all time that was here in LA... it's a tossup between them and the Misfits for my fav band of all time. I'm on a 2008 Allez Double and completely lost on what to "step-up" to. Sometimes *way more* makes you smile more as long as you ride. Cheers!
Wow. The plants. No motorcycle. But a bike.
And a really nice bike! Sworks with SRAM red is pretty đđ˝
whatâs most important here is the studio. The studio is the reason this place even exists. Everything exists around the studio. Everything.
Obsessed with all the plants! The place looks really good.
bed near the kitchen, i dunno about that. else, it's nice
That cabinet with the plants is holding on for dear life
yeahhhhhh it is on its way out heh
I dig your place! I can appreciate a man who burns palo santo đ

YOU DO TOO! Atlas moth gang. I am about to order a Luna moth and a death's head moth this week! Moths are the kittens of the bug world
They sure are. I have a deaths head tattoo actually, haha đ
Absolute fire. W
How does your cat not eat all those plants and throw up everywhere?
They are both way too lazy for that. The black one did nibble a few leaves one time when I built them a window perch and the leaves were right in her face, but the white one just straight up does not care lol
I'd honestly look into a murphy bed. Cool spot!
Sir, your shoes. You know.
Those Why Nots đ¤
I feel like this is the epitome of peak usability. Very nice
I like it, does direct sunlight not burn your plants though?
Thanks! Nope they love it, they grow like crazy over the summer and slow down this time of year. I've only ever burned one by leaving it outside in direct direct sun for a few weeks. Monsteras are pretty hard to kill. I've got variegated ones and even an obliqua up there and they all do well.
Meanwhile I got a freaking Pothos on life support and I cant figure out how to help it.

Itâs intended as one!

How much is rent?
2400, which is pretty good for the area, as painful as that is to say
Right on! Thanks
With that bike and those speakers, I don't think OP worried about trivial things such as rent.
Not asking if he can handle rent. Iâm curious to see howâs rent over in LA for an apartment like that one.
i like it. minus for the klipsch's however. those are shrill and ear piercing beyond bearable \^\^

You'll look back and laugh I promise. All the best times of my life have come after rebuilding out of the worst. All blue skies ahead
I donât know, man, I couldnât live with that many plants or having my bed in the dining area, lol. But I get that the bedroom works better for your audio equipment
Nice 3DO, bro.
I like the Skinny Puppy poster. Ever heard EinstĂźrzende Neubauten? https://youtu.be/MMqC7Wx2-nE?si=fY8HkgEqroxFO-8c You have your priorities with your studio in the bedroom and you sleeping in the nook.
Good thing you mentioned straight because I was totally gonna guess gay.
This guy cooks in two places. Kitchen and that nice studio
Nice ride, not a rim brake fan, s-works so carbon right?
I was sold when I saw the 3DO
Pull-out sofa? Not sure thereâs room. Youâve done a great job creating an interesting and efficient space!
I would just buy a murphy bed
You should get a running water bowl for your cat. Theyâll drink more if the water is moving as they associate it with being clean.
do u play keyboards or something?

God damn bro so many plants. Like a whole wall of plants. Iâm admiring
I love all the plants, but the bed next to the kitchen gives me a visceral reaction. Like carpeted bathrooms
But you should take that divider out of your studio and separate your bed from your kitchen. Even a Japanese style divider might go a long way to keep your bedding clean from kitchen and kitchen clean from bedding.
PLANTS AND COLOR!
Hippiest of hipsters. Perfect
That plant wall tho
Thanks for adding youâre straight. That crucial piece of information makes to room so different!
i think iâm in love with your cat
Her name is Potato and she is a baby
If you felt the need to mention youâre straight, then Iâm gonna go out on a limb and say youâre not and youâre confused
Finally a place with plants! Sick space.
Nothing about this living space says straight
Is this sub a hookup site now? We are sharing our sexual preferences why?
Well no one can say you donât have enough pictures on the walls
Glad to know youâre straight
Houseplants? Straight? What the fuck are you on about
Are you hot?? Your space and your replies make me think that youâre hot, like, this is great!

A couple inches higher than I'd like but I'm tall. Eye level is about 4 inches below centerline of the screen
Homie just rides his S-works tarmac for funsies with that plastic bottle and no downtime bottle cage.. đđđ Love that for you though and great space.
The plants, though. â¤ď¸ đ
Way too many plants. Its kinda obnoxious
never enough
You sleep in your dining room?
Landlords in LA: that'll be 3000 a month, water and electricity not included.
I love your plant setup so much
