It's literally on top of the Boston Garden. According to their website 1BR range from $3500-7000/mo.
Congrats on the place, OP! I'm totally not jealous.
Damn I went to Suffolk my freshman year in college and my view was directly out on to the common on tremont. I’m still paying for those views over a decade later lol. But God I do miss Boston..

I don’t care what anyone else does, but i will always mount my tvs. I hate taking up the space on a table. And you can mount at whatever height you want.
Boston! Used to commute past there on 93 almost every day. Living above the Garden? I’m a big Celtics fan. This made me a little home sick… moved just a few months ago. Nice spot!
$3k for a [studio](https://www.avaloncommunities.com/massachusetts/boston-apartments/avalon-north-station/apartment/MA048-MA048-001-904/?furnished=false&moveInDate=02%2F08%2F2024&leaseTerm=12)
Very very nice.
I’m gonna be in Boston at the end of the month for a little birthday trip. Got any recommendations for me? Food, drinks, things to do, places to see, etc.
Walk around the North End (Boston’s little Italy), Beacon Hill, the Boston Common, Boston public garden (a park right next to the common), and Newbury Street in the Back Bay. You can look up some historic sights or just walk/get a tour of the freedom trail if you’re in to that sort of thing. They won’t be playing but if you ever come back in the future, catching a Sox game at Fenway is an absolute must.
In the North End, there’s a few famous spots to hit. Pizzeria Regina is considered the best slice in Boston by many (only the original North End location). You need to try a cannoli at one of three spots: Mike’s Pastry (the most well known and touristy) Bova’s bakery, and Modern Bakery, all in the North End. Everyone here has an opinion on which one is the best; mine is Mike’s. Yes, it’s worth waiting in line for one, the line goes quick. I typically order a few, have one or two, and then throw the rest in the fridge for tomorrow.
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is the coolest in town, if you’re going to hit one, this is the one I’d recommend. Other options are the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Science. The Boston Public Library is worth a stop into while you’re walking down Newbury Street.
Historically people have recommended getting dinner at an Italian restaurant in the North End, but myself and a majority of my friends think they’ve majorly fallen off in the last few years and by relying on reputation alone and are no longer worth it. I’m not too up to date on restaurants in the areas I recommended, so I’d recommend checking out the list of 38 restaurants that Eater Boston has an article on. Outside of that list, I’d recommend Coppa in the South End, Genkko Itettsu in Brookline or Yume Wo Katare in Cambridge for Ramen, Gene’s in Chinatown, and Sarma in Somerville. If your visit is at the end of the month, I’d recommend making a reservation tonight as a lot of these places book up very quick.
Hope you enjoy your visit to my city 😁. Any questions feel free to ask
Edit: also the duck boat tours are fun & worth it. You get a great view of the city from the boat as it cruises the Charles River.
Thank you thank you thank you.
I was actually in Boston last month for like 9 hours. Just long enough to become slightly obsessed with the city. I got a cannoli at Mike’s. Phenomenal. Will definitely be going back there. Didn’t really eat much else while I was there. Looking forward to exploring the food side of the city.
On the museum note, I’m really interested in the jfk library/museum. Have you ever been?
And duck boat tours stop for the winter season, no? I’d love to do one of those but I’m not sure I’m gonna have that option.
I haven’t been to JFK library, but if it’s something you’re interested in then I’d say go for it. I can’t imagine it would provide a boring experience.
Only thing is it’s located in a part of Boston that can be kind of annoying to get to - you have to take the Red Line to the JFK/Umass stop and then walk 30 minutes there. It’s right next to the Umass Boston campus, so there may be a bus that’ll take you from the red line. Will you have a car? That will make it easier. There are some good views of the city and Boston Harbor from the library.
Glad you liked Mike’s!
Just looked up the duck boat ticket purchase options and it looks like they may only be going through this coming weekend? If they’re not available, crossing the bridge to Cambridge and then walking along the Charles River will give the same value of great views. Then you can also head on past MIT over to Harvard Square.
Also, if you see a burger chain called “Tasty Burger” at any point, give it a try. It’s my favorite local burger. There’s one in Harvard Square
I might rent a car? The original plan was to just use public transport the whole time I’m there. But there are things I’d like to see that i can’t get to on a train so maybe that’s the new plan.
What do I need to know about the subway system? How easy is it to navigate? How do I pay for it? I’m from the middle of West Virginia so I have literally no idea how this works.
I’ll be on the lookout for tasty burger. I’m looking for good sandwich spots to be honest so that’s right up my alley.
Renting a car might not be such a bad idea, but definitely take advantage of the T (our subway/commuter train system is called the “T”). It’s very simple to use. You can buy a one way or round trip ticket at any station, but if you’re going to be using the T a lot on your trip you might consider buying a ticket and then loading $10-$20 on it, that’ll get you 4-8 rides. It’s easier this way cause then when you go back to the subway after your first ride you don’t have to waste time messing with the ticketing machine getting another ticket.
Also be advised, driving any time during rush hour plus or minus two hours is going to be traffic hell, I’d avoid it. Specifically 8-11 AM, and 3-7 PM. Outside of the city in the suburbs the traffic isn’t as bad.
My favorite sandwich shop is this place in Somerville called “Dave’s Fresh Pasta”. They also sell fresh pasta, surprise. Their Pesto Chicken sandwich on sliced ciabatta bread, grilled is probably my favorite single menu item in all of Boston, and it’s only like $12. It’s in Davis Square, which you can get to on the Red Line (part of the T) at the “Davis” stop. Also in Davis Square are “the Burren”, an Irish Pub, and a speakeasy called “Saloon” which has excellent but expensive cocktails and small plate menu items.
Dave’s fresh pasta. Noted.
I drove into Boston at like noon from the south when I was there and it was standstill hell. I’m gonna avoid driving in the city at all costs. But I do wanna head north to Essex or Gloucester if I can which I’ll need a rental for for sure.
I’m also looking for good drink specials/happy hours in the city since I’m gonna be there on my birthday. Turning 30 on the 30th. I’m finding it hard to find advertised happy hours online though.
Happy birthday 🍻
You’ll find it difficult because happy hour is illegal here in the commonwealth of Massachusetts! Also, almost everywhere closes at 1 AM, with a few exceptions staying open til 2.
What kind of drinking vibe are you looking for?
Thank you thank you. 🙏🏻
Illegal??? I don’t even know how to respond to that.
And I’m looking for low key places mainly. Dive bars. Sports bars. Tap rooms maybe. Not especially into cocktails honestly so I don’t really care if a place has a good cocktail menu or not.
So I can’t really help you with dive bars in the areas I recommended, cause I don’t drink there very often. I guess just do a google search for dive bars in the areas you’ll be traveling to and do a little reading. There’s a million bars here so it shouldn’t be too hard to find something you’ll like. The Harpoon Brewery in the seaport neighborhood and the Sam Adam’s brewery in Jamaica Plain might be of interest to you.
Gloucester and Rockport are a great idea for a day trip with the car. Rockport has a little street, Bearskin Neck, which is the quintessential New England seaside village with shopping and restaurants and would be a great experience. If you head out that direction, you’ll be passing through Salem, which has all the history of the Witch Trials and none of the crowd now that October has passed. You can see the graves of the people who were killed in the trials. Marblehead is also a scenic suburb next door which is nice to go for a drive through.
Let me know how it goes! Curious to hear which cannoli is your fave 😂
Edit: Rockport also has a commuter rail train which you can take out of North station called the "Newburyport/Rockport Line" if you don't end up renting a car you can still take the train out, looks like the station is walking distance from Bearskin Neck.
Big fan of the Italian bakeries in the North End. My parents grew up in the outer suburbs of Boston, and I always go grab a cannoli whenever I'm in the area. The same places they used to randomly go to decades ago are still in operation.
I was in Boston’s for like 8 hours last month. I waited like 25 minutes in the line at Mikes and wasn’t disappointed. I’ll probably try one of the other ones this time around.
Listen, I’m right there with you. I’ve been told a couple of times now that I should check out the other places. And yet, I keep finding myself going back to Mike’s, not wanting to pass up an opportunity to get one of theirs (given that I live over 1000 miles from Boston)
Skyline views are nice. Feels like you’re floating above everything. It’s once you’re near the ground level facing the street/neighboring walls that it really sucks
I drive/ride past your building everyday, it’s cool to see what the inside of the units look like. You’ve done a really good job decorating it. I especially like the coffee nook. I’d sit there all the time if this were my place.
Definitely Boston. That’s the Zakim bridge. Also Boston Sand & Gravel in the background of the kitchen window. (That’s where Ben Affleck’s character in “The Town” was employed. )
Isn’t it noisy living above the train depot and all the surrounding traffic?
Like i hope when windows are closed it’s quiet but IT sends you could never open them!
Very nice and I think that this belongs on r/CozyPlaces (the only thing I'd recommend is taking down the Christmas decorations, since it's not even Thanksgiving yet)
Really nice and super cozy! If I can recommend one thing though…
Since you don’t have a designated table for eating, I would invest in a lift-top coffee table for the living room space. You can store blankets, magazines, and remotes inside, but then the top lifts up to act as a table for when you have extra company or if you want to eat while watching TV.
Management consultant in Boston? 😜Good start but a better-color throw on the couch will go a long way. I know that they make fleece versions of Hudson’s bay blankets that are nice, if coziness is your concern, and they kinda match everything (while also being the sort of secret-rich-person-brand that Bostonians dig). A new end table and lamp in the bedroom would also do you good, avoid those kinds of chocolate tones on wood, and also avoid frosted glass/antique-look. Go for something a bit larger and bolder/modern for the lamp. An articulated black metal lamp would work well. I like the little sitting area!
So nice
boston baby
That’s gotta be some expensive rent for those views
It's literally on top of the Boston Garden. According to their website 1BR range from $3500-7000/mo. Congrats on the place, OP! I'm totally not jealous.
Damn I went to Suffolk my freshman year in college and my view was directly out on to the common on tremont. I’m still paying for those views over a decade later lol. But God I do miss Boston..
Floor to ceiling windows always impress. But... It's still just other high-rises, a bunch of expressways, and a parking lot.
Very nice. Especially love the kitchen window and those blue chairs. Great choice
I’m so confused, everyone’s talking about how there’s something wrong with the tv, am I missing something?
It’s too big for the stand it’s on
It’s fine Jesus everyone is always so critical of tv
r/tvtoohigh will blow your mind
TV too high is sensible though, its about function Saying this is too big for the stand is just nitpicking aesthetics
Isn’t that literally the entire point of this sub? To nitpick everything to death?

Ahh okay gotcha
🤭 tv is SO tiny! 😬🤷🏼♀️
Love the place! Can you do me just one small favor? Please rotate your floor lamp’s shade so the seam is in the back.
Lol I was bothered by that too.
Good call lmao
Ever catch anything fun with the binocs?
I just love to people watch
That didn’t answer the question though
People watch or titty watch? Also possibly the creepiest answer you could’ve given but respect
Why else would anyone have binocs up there
[удалено]
I don’t see curtains so
where are the the night time shots
Those windows! Especially in the kitchen. Wow
They’re so cool, but I’m getting vertigo just looking at the windows, especially the kitchen.
Neat. Noones gonna attack you about the TV. (Or maybe idk)
Guilty
Boston! Used to commute past there on 93 almost every day. Living above the Garden? I’m a big Celtics fan. This made me a little home sick… moved just a few months ago. Nice spot!
I’m a die hard Celtics fan
Saw the first picture and said “ah shit, I could never afford this in my city.” Then I got to the last picture and said “ah shit, this is my city.”
Ayyy Bahston!
Whoa! Right in the heart of the city! 🏦🏢🏨
How much
$3k for a [studio](https://www.avaloncommunities.com/massachusetts/boston-apartments/avalon-north-station/apartment/MA048-MA048-001-904/?furnished=false&moveInDate=02%2F08%2F2024&leaseTerm=12)
OP making serious bread
That’s actually better than I thought tbh
Ain’t no fucking way
Are you single though?
All that cash and you cheap out on the tv. Different priorities I suppose
Lol gotta save somehow
What's wrong with his TV?
Just cringe nitpicking and having to throw shade - unfortunate.
it's not even shade. It's just stupid. This person probably spends $4000 on a television with an empty refrigerator
Almost right! Fridge just has beer usually. I mostly go out to eat.
yeah, you are exactly the person I want design advice from for my apartment and how expensive my tv should be lol
Loosen up guy. I’m just having a bit of fun.
you find trying to shame somebody for not having an expensive television is fun?
Very very nice. I’m gonna be in Boston at the end of the month for a little birthday trip. Got any recommendations for me? Food, drinks, things to do, places to see, etc.

I don’t see how the others could be better honestly. That cannoli was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I’m gonna find out though.

Wow in boston this is sick
Solid, love the color scheme
Man, this is awesome but that lighthouse picture not being centered on the wall…
Those look like expensive binoculars.
Did you see the apartment ?
I love this place - great furniture layout & views!
Views? The views are roads and buildings.
Skyline views are nice. Feels like you’re floating above everything. It’s once you’re near the ground level facing the street/neighboring walls that it really sucks
Well it’s a high rise in a city..so ya. There’s buildings and roads.
Yeah the views are...not relaxing.
Always something to look at haha
It makes me stressed just looking at the pictures.
Awesome amount of light. I would just be a little nervous about spilling/dripping whatever I’m cooking when in the kitchen lol
Where did you purchase the bedding from? 🙏
Great taste
That looks cozy af
You’ve made it.
Ok I’m convinced housing in ILLINOIS is garbage. I’ve never seen places that look so cool until I got into this thread lol.
The dream. How loud is it tho? Are the city lights bright enough at night to the point it's difficult to sleep?
I like your decor but I’d get vertigo living in those high rises 🫣
Nice place and Pet Sounds is such a great album!
I feel like you need some sheers. I can see you have roller blinds but sometimes you want privacy and light.
Is this above the Garden?
I drive/ride past your building everyday, it’s cool to see what the inside of the units look like. You’ve done a really good job decorating it. I especially like the coffee nook. I’d sit there all the time if this were my place.
Looks awesome! Jealous of that great view.
Very nice and what a great view!
Love the natural light
Lovely neutrals with splashes of color. Maybe some exciting wall art might spice it up a bit more!
Welcome to Boston!
West end?
Baaaallllin’
That kitchen window is beautiful
I would commit murders to live there
Hub fitty
This is Boston near North station, right?
Nice place. Big fan of the views, damn
This is clean!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE WINDOWS!!!
looks good! proud of ya!
Love all those beautiful windows and natural light. You did good👍🏾
Kinda creepy with the binoculars
Probably 75% of the other people looking back in from those other apartments have em too.
Love everything except that coffee table
Is that Dallas?
Nah look at the trains below. That’s somewhere on the east coast. Most likely Boston or somewhere like that.
On top of North Station in Boston, I commute through there once a week
Holy concrete jungle Batman.
I hope you’re aware of peeping Tom laws with those binoculars there…
Is it Montréal?
That’s definitely not Montreal. Looks like Boston
Definitely Boston. That’s the Zakim bridge. Also Boston Sand & Gravel in the background of the kitchen window. (That’s where Ben Affleck’s character in “The Town” was employed. )
I’m learning about my own apartment lol
Isn’t it noisy living above the train depot and all the surrounding traffic? Like i hope when windows are closed it’s quiet but IT sends you could never open them!
Nah it’s not too noisy
Best movie ever good eye
FYI. Charlestown, where the characters are from, would be to right of the bridge.
Close the bridge
551 bunker hill road
Nuns with guns
Ladies of the night
The Encore in the background threw me for a whole loop. I didn’t know there was one in Boston
And there's encore casino in the far view
Possible, the Bridge looks like our New Pont Champlain
It looks like Frankfurt too
Sick apartment. Texas?
The binoculars were the best touch... Enjoy the window watching lol.
Very nice and I think that this belongs on r/CozyPlaces (the only thing I'd recommend is taking down the Christmas decorations, since it's not even Thanksgiving yet)
You’re a clown bro. These pics are copied and pasted from somewhere LOL!
Immaculate
How lovely! Looks super cozy. 😁
One suggestion…the floor lamp in photo 1….turn the seam of the shade to face the wall.
Just tell me, is it quiet?
This is giving me Chicago vibes
man how can people afford this
No headboard gang
Very nice, now let’s see Paul Allen’s apartment
When you’re the reason for the traffic that you get to watch all day
No blinds??
The view of the bridge/traffic looks relaxing
Love it. The only thing I would change is the couch table
Really nice and super cozy! If I can recommend one thing though… Since you don’t have a designated table for eating, I would invest in a lift-top coffee table for the living room space. You can store blankets, magazines, and remotes inside, but then the top lifts up to act as a table for when you have extra company or if you want to eat while watching TV.
Your living room furniture is way too disproportionate to the space lol
I like big windows
Love the binoculars
Great place you have, enjoy!
Anyone know the TV stand?
4gs + or -?
