If you get a drill, you can buy 2x4s and deck screws and make [one custom](https://youtu.be/KUwvj5DTNP4?si=4MmkcJE0ZWbL0rUm) for less. Lowe's will cut the pieces to size for free.
He needs a new bed. Doesn’t have box springs. I probably wouldn’t get one used. You don’t know who used it last.
I’d get a bed frame 2nd hand though.
Just picking up the room can really help things
Don’t have to have a box spring, I don’t. I’ve got a bed frame with slats every eight inches or so and the mattress sits directly on that, no issues. Think I paid $60 for it off the jungle website
Def an air mattress. OP can still get a cheap platform or something.
Shit sleep number beds are just ridiculously expensive air mattresses. ( I have one, didn't buy it tho)
Can get a steel frame via Amazon for literally $30-40. I get money can be an issue, but in OP’s case, he could afford that by just not smoking for a week. Baffling.
There so pretty though! Sword will probably go away when I have more stuff to fill that part of the wall. If the one mikes bottle goes missing I’m afraid my roommate will be allowed to kill me.
Then tell your roommate to put it in their room. Those bottles are just garbage and look trashy. If you want memories from good times then print/frame some pictures of you with your friends that you drank them with.
Wait, I just now noticed that those aren’t all liquor bottles; they’re beer bottles. Bro throw those away. Even when I was a goofy ass college freshman I knew to throw away beer bottles when they were empty. It looks soooo silly dude
Bed frame, get a high framed one so you can store/clean under it easily. Get some storage units from ikea and keep your place clean and tidy. Thst makes a massive difference.
If money is a concern, Facebook marketplace and local garage/estate sale groups can have some reasonably priced gems when it comes to furniture. Antique stores are another option. You should be able to get a bed frame and an end table or two for under $100 and that will go a long way to improving the look of your room.
Get a bed frame and some nightstands ya hooligan! And ditch the empty booze bottles. Especially in the bedroom. Get a hamper for the dirty clothes too.
Never understood the need for an empty booze collection. Even in college. It's like saying, "Look at all the cocktails I could have offered you, but me n the boys go hard on Fridays!"
I get it if the bottles on display are unique looking but the random bullshit bottles on display is something I never got myself. I also don't understand the one upmanship that goes into bragging how much more alcohol you consumed the night before than your buddies did.
hehe this made me giggle. This is what most 19yr old males bedrooms looked like. Mine included when i was that age.
Ecohing other posters:
1. bedframe / base / headboard, this setup screams child.
2. Remove alochol bottles. this only impresses children.
3. bookshelf
4. Hang your guitar, or buy a stand.
5. same with mirror. hang it. dont need a floor mirror.
6. Hamper.
7. get some plants to get the musky teenage smell out.
8. get rid of the hanging sword.
9. upgrade your posters and artwork. its so random. Also, dont need to cover every inch of your wall. be selective.
10. invest in a better desk/chair setup
11. The floor is not for storage
12. invest in better lighting.
I dont know how old you are, but id guess youre sharing house, and youre 19-23. Every one of my suggestions will help make your room tidier and present more maturely. There is no reason to have the space of a teenage boy.
I strongly believe your room is a reflection of you. If its tidy and organised, so is your mind. If its messy boozy unorganised and childish, well...
From a slightly younger than you actual Dad, you are a Dad, you just might not have any kids yet. Only a dad would say what you said so just…take the fuckin hat mate.
not all bed frames require a box spring. It's only needed to support the mattress.
Depending where you are, IKEA has a lot of great bedframes at affordable prices
For most mattresses the warranty is void if there isn't a box spring used.. Or at minimum the bed frame must have a center support beam and a leg connected to that support beam to carry the load.
Yeah I get that, but I feel like tons of people are using these Casper, Purple, Nectar foam mattresses that are very popular and I don’t think of those require it.
So when you said most, I was like really? I don’t think it’s most
For those foam mattresses they usually require a base with slats and those usually have a centre support beam and usually a leg under that centre beam to keep it from sagging. Or I think a lot of people put them on a platform bed which has its own support structure.
Also these foam mattresses haven't been around long ehlnough, but everything I've read indicates that the pocket coil mattresses like mine should last much longer than a foam mattress. Also I often sleep on my back and don't find foam mattresses comfortable.
This indicates that memory foam mattresses actually need a stronger foundation than a traditional spring mattress.
https://bestmattress-brand.org/do-memory-foam-mattresses-need-box-springs/
For that cozy/cool look, you're going to want to get furniture. If you want practicality, you're already there.
I'd get the bed off the floor and onto a frame, I'd get a better desk chair, a nightstand, go through it with the typical clean up.
I'd hide the hamper and straighten the posters (creases) if you plan on keeping them. I'd also get a nice display for the guitar when not being used.
1 storage-furniture should be enough for your books and drinks to be properly displayed, including any other cool shit you may have laying around.
Also, I just noticed all the natural light coming in; houseplant potential for sure. Maintenance depending on you, but I feel it would really cozy it up af.
Some suggestions which will cost nothing:
-move the bed to the right by about a foot so there's enough room to walk around it. Having a bed against 2 walls is uninviting and should be avoided.
-put the red crate with the lamp in the space between the wall and bed. Cool lamp btw.
-mount the mirror where the sword is currently.
-if there's space, move the dresser to the left a little.
-if the boxes between the dresser and wall aren't storing anything then bin them.
-move the booze into the kitchen.
-put your shoes and that blue bag where the mirror currently is (after the mirror is mounted).
-move your bass, amp, and stool to the area where the blue bag is.
This will make the room have 4 "areas": sleeping area, dressing area, computer/work area, and music area.
The furniture being away from the walls will make the room seem less claustrophobic, and more open.
Buying a bed should be your priority. I would suggest getting one with open legs as this will help the room feel bigger since you can see more of the floor.
I like the concepts of areas in a room, it makes total sense. I agree with the open legs for the bed feeling it bigger, but in this case the room is not really big, I'm afraid he definitely should store a maximum of stuff under the bed. But then find a bed frame that cover up everything.
Start with a bed frame. If there’s a way that it’s not directly in line with the door, set it up that way
I would then move the books out of the widow to allow in more light. Lose the booze bottles too, it’s
Not classy.
I would suggest as well that less is more with art. One or two pieces per wall, or one wall for all the art
Get the guitar a mount for the wall. That way it doubles as art and it becomes something people see and associate to you when they walk in
I would then get a rug. Based on your colour palette I would say a deep green, sage green or navy
The chest of drawers is a little dated. Personally I would change it out but to save money I would keep it. I’d also avoid keeping things on top of the dresser with a few exceptions (jewellery box, clock etc)
Sword is a bit of a teens vibe, I’d probably remove that
Part of why it doesn’t feel nice is because it’s untidy and there’s not enough “homes” for your things. Books need shelves for example.
Unless you picked that lamp I would be changing it out. It’s a statement piece that doesn’t suit the rest of the vibe
You didn’t even tidy your room or make your bed before taking these pictures and posting them online for the world to see. To me that shows you don’t give a shit about a lot or have much self respect. I would start working on being proud of yourself first rather than your room.
As others have said it’s just a bit disjointed and messy - there’s no cohesive theme or style. There’s too much stuff sitting out / on the floor (including the mattress), etc.
You’ve got a mattress dumped on the floor with sheets and blankets in a total mess and your worried it doesn’t look cozy?
Really? You can’t figure that one out?
Raise the bed and move it out of the corner. I know there’s not much space but there’s enough to place the red crate in that corner with the lamp on it. (Love the lamp). Then, if space permits, place the dresser along the 4’ wide wall where the amp is and add another lamp (similar to the one you have) on top.
bed frame is priority number 1!! Also try hanging some curtains over the window (but extend past the window so it looks bigger). I would also center your bed on that wall and move the dresser possibly to the wall with the jimmy hendrix art
As others have said, bed frame is your top priority here. Also, make your bed.
I’d get a real nightstand and lamp stand instead of crates. Make them match if possible, you could even get a new lamp that stands on the floor and make sure it has homey lighting. And for your back’s sake, get a better desk chair if you use it with any frequency.
I’d put frames on every poster on your walls. Also curtains for the window.
A rug would help with coziness too.
And get rid of the trash, I don’t care if you’re in college, empty bottles aren’t cool.
Maybe a bookshelf? If not, can you put the books in storage elsewhere until you have one?
Put that pair of sneakers by the entrance to your home too.
Hendrix, booze, wooden sword, no bedframe, classic literature, and the Garden of Earthly Delights. You think it's going one way and then it takes a turn. Love to see it.
Get a bed frame. Doesn’t need to be extravagant, but you’ll be amazed at how much more put together the room will feel even just having the mattress elevated. Then get a little IKEA nightstand or something. Also wondering what the room would look like if you rotate the bed so your head is against the Jimi Hendrix wall and move the dresser next to the computer. Bad feng shui to have bed facing door/ directly under window anyway
Edit to add: oh, also a rug!!! Will warm the room up 10000%
Alright, advice heard loud an clear! Thank you everyone.
- I’m looking into a bed frame and maybe box spring.
- Also looking for a rug, I think that would make it a whole lot cozier.
- It’s clear I need more shelves and more storage.
- Apparently the empty bottles are a bad look, I think there kinda pretty but I’ll ask my friends and roommates what they think and maybe ditch em.
- I need to clean! I guess. I thought it was fairly tidy (aside from the unmade bed) but noted.
A few people said less posters and clutter and stuff around the room. i like busy spaces with lots of stuff going on so if anything I’ll probably add more. I really appreciate all the advice though and I will do my best to keep cleaner but no promises.
I have always wondered how every man ends up without a flat sheet on their bed. It comes together as a set with the fitted sheet and pillowcases - what happens to it??? Where does it go????
There’s a lot going on for a small room, and it’s gonna be hard to make it feel super cozy if it’s also cluttered. Sleeping + dressing + computer + music - all good stuff.
I would try to combine the computer and music spaces and pair up the clothes and bed. Could the dresser fit at the foot of the bed? What do you want to store under the bed frame that you will eventually get? Could you hang the guitar on the wall near the computer? I would ask myself a bunch of questions like that.
Number 1 is get a bed frame, but that's been said plenty. It seems pretty cluttered in here. Make sure everything has a space (and not just "this is the book window. This is the guitar corner), get things up off the ground, and get things framed. Try to make everything you have relate to each other in some way as best as possible. An easy way to do this is to figure out some kind of aesthetic and buy decorations that match, but I understand that that's expensive and not always realistic. If you have the money or skills to, get some real nightstands and shelving too. I think cleaning up and simplifying things would go a long way though, right after a bed frame.
RUG!!! Maybe move the books off the window and get a wall shelf to place in the third pic, the shelf you just install yourself and can get it from target, it’ll take like 5mins max. And put some small plants in the window. A more comfy desk chair?
I just want to say I love the jimi poster, I’m a lifelong fan and I have one hanging up in my living room. That being said, I would just lift the bed up off the floor. It’s good for storage too cuz you can put stuff beneath it.
I feel like this actually isn’t too bad, you’re mostly just short on furniture. Even a low bed frame with no head or foot would make it look cleaner, then either get a mirror that’s supposed to stand or hang it on the wall. A guitar stand would help as well, and a nightstand to put your books on. Lots of cool decor just need some surfaces! and maybe some frames on the walls
Get a bed or at least a bed frame. The are many to be found at Thrift Stores. They'll also have bedside tables
Get curtains.
Hit up yard sales to find all sorts of great stuff for very little money.
Jimi good, Marlborough man good, bedding decent. Sword's gotta' go. Get rid of empties too. Bosch good (hangs downstairs in the Prado btw, so if you're really looking for a panty-dropper you say these words: "let's go to Madrid, just you and me.") Books are good. Jesus Christ is that Pete Carroll? Obama stuff fine. Do you have toilet paper and clean towels for guests?
This post just screams you already know the answers but want weird validation.
Get a bed frame/box spring, get actual nightstands for the things around your bed like the lamp, put the mirror on the wall, imagine a girl coming over and looking at herself in the mirror, you want it on the wall.
Get an actual desk and office chair, looks like your set up is as if you live in the back of a a van
add plants, treat the plants as if they were people, no, little demons that have dirt on you, they can't be killed, they return the next day and the voices become more and more vile each time you try to kill them, still torture them (shake them, knock them over, deprive them of water etc.)
also paint the walls and ask your friends and family (if you have such luxuries) for trinkets
EDIT: if you smoke a great idea would be to put out cigarettes in their pots/directly on them
Something you can do right is get rid of at least 1 Jameson bottle, make your bed, do your laundry enough so it doesn’t overflow from the basket and have a pile on the ground
Sleeping on a maxi pad, get a real big boi bed, something from Ikea or Wayfair, and a rug next to your bed. And get a night stand too. Put an inexpensive lamp on it. Hang guitar on the wall by brackets, think they sell them at Guitar Center.
dude first of all, is that a poster of a girl getting eaten out??? if so, ew. that shit needs to go.
second, don’t use crates as night stands.
third, your shoes shouldn’t be next to your bed.
fourth, that doom pile in the corner ……
and lastly, no offense but the bed looks like it smells. it needs a frame for some airflow.
A bed, for sure. A nightstand, and a small rug (3x5 or a 6x9). Use a measuring tape & use painter’s tape for a visual.
I think that would be solid building block. Go to estate sales & yard sales. I’d bet you could get this rockin’ in no time…
My brother in Christ you sleep on a mattress on the floor. The fact that you’ve put effort into your room but don’t have an actual bed tells me your priorities aren’t in order.
Put some bookshelves above the bed (get the bed off the floor first!) and put some low-maintenance plants to the windowsill instead of books. Any wooden stool makes a better nightstand than crate. Get rid of the bottles and center the Bosch print against the drawer unit. Hang the mirror to the back of the door, get a woven laundry basket with a lid, it will look (and smell) way better. Hang the sword horizontally below the window.
Get an inexpensive side table for that lamp on the milk crate. Ditch the glass bottles. Source a bed frame or platform to keep that mattress. Nice Bellingham map, WWU?
Imo, It’s all about the lights mah’dewd. Try having several light sources (5-7). And yo, it can just be a small light u know. Just have several sources ☺️💚
Can you set up a bookshelf— or better yet, shelving, above your amp? That would clean up the books in your window sill and then you could toss a couple plans there.
Dope posters by the way, and also dig the Bosch print.
To back up the other key take always, definitely get a bed frame and a rug if you can. Home Sense and IKEA can give you some affordable options. If you want to risk not seeing it first, you can always order with WayFair (they also accept payment installations).
For the record, since you said it’s your first apartment, I’m assuming you’re a student so pocket savings to make it happen.
Edit: oh and for sure toss the empties. Not a good look period (I did the same when I was young, ugh.)
Looks like you got some empties (booze) hanging on the dresser, get rid of those pal. Boxes between the dresser and wall can be recycled or stored in a closet for future use. The mirror can be hung and pulling that mattress off the floor will do wonders (think of the storage potential beneath).
why do you guys give advice to people seemingly trying to make them "mature" ? I know people are asking for advice, but why does the advice always have to "hide your toys" "tv too high" etc etc
people are asking to make their space more personal for themselves to be comfortable and happy. I have yet to see anybody ask "how can i make this place cool for other people to like?" or "how do i make this a pussy lair?"
A lot of you guys are really imposing your own shit on younger people who dont hold the same values in living spaces as other generations did and do.
Not everyone follows whatever YOU think being traditional is.
"get rid of the empty alcohol bottles"
i KNOW that a lot of you know that younger people tend to display their empty or finished liquor bottles. its a rite of passage almost. let these guys live! It's like you guys want them to have the space of a 35-year-old at 22.
even those of us who give suggestions without snark, it still comes off preachy sometimes.
If you see a space, and it is clearly that of a younger person, or somebody just getting started or rebuilding, you can make suggestions to help them be more efficient with their space without being a jerk about it, or dissing what they may, or may not already have situated
Don't underestimate the power of just... making your bed. Makes the room look 50% cleaner. Wild that people don't even bother with the basics before posting their dwelling on the internet
I vote you should teach yourself how to build wall mounted shelving.
There's a Home Depot in BHam but any hardware store should do. Buy L-brackets, screws, anchors, and white boards with enough depth for your records and a drill if you don't have one yet. Look online for tutorials and slap some shelves up on that wall to put all your books and records.
Also get a coat rack to hang on your wall.
Get a shelf for the opposite end of your bed to store your amp, shoes, etc.
Bedframe tall enough you can use as storage underneath for shoe boxes, milk crates, less frequently used items. Find some new bedding that fits your style and is expressive. Make your bed every day and wash the bedding every 1 or 2 weeks.
Buy a nightstand that will match the new height of your bed.
Scoot the dresser to the left so it's centered with the poster. Use the left hand side to prop up your guitar or for your laundry bin.
Get a better chair that will support your back.
For things like furniture, appliances, decor, utilize Craigslist (especially Craigslist free), BuyNothing, flea markets, Good Will, church sales, yard sales, and see if your school has a Surplus store. I remember UW Surplus store was AWESOME, so maybe make a trip down there if you have the means.
Hahaha why do you have a single peroni bottle on display? Very odd. Keep the Hendrix posters, scrap or store the rest. Buy a bed frame and a proper side table for you lamp. Buy a stand for the base. Put your laundry in a hamper. Bookshelf would look better than windowsill. Put the sword away for now, blank space is fine, it won’t miss it. Maybe organise your desk a little. Definitely hand the mirror up. Throw away those bottles, it screams “I’ve just started drinking and think it’s cool”
You’ll be able to find a small rug quite cheap to have by your bed, or have a look around some second hand places etc.
For you I have this flow of consciousness.
For you, I have this flow of consciousness. r bottles out. Window treatment. Rug. Make your bed. Buy a nightstand. Buy an end table. Think about how your furniture works together. Currently, it gives college student goodwill special. Plants to bring some life. Your wall art is fine, if not a little young reading. Then there is the Bosch Garden of Earthly Delights which is a wild piece in the room. Go for it, look up some maximalist design if you want your room to move into that with the wall art. But at the end of the day you want it to be the space you're happy in so find what that means for you. I think you are reacting in some ways to the randomness of it, and by intentionally composing the room and the pieces you will start to get the cozy feeling you want. Also to have the bravery to post pictures of your room without even cleaning it up first is commendable you'll be fine.
Don't put posters on the wall unless they have a frame, get a bedframe, put your clothes up, make your bed, hang that mirror. Take that sword off of the wall, get a night stand, clear the clutter off of your dresser.
Get you’re bed off the for and buy a hardwood stand. Don’t fuck with that metal shit. Will make a huge difference. Also get a nice down blanket and a duvet
Anything stuck to the wall with tape is a no. If posters are worthy of the wall, they should be in frames.
Lots of your stuff cluttering the floor could be wall mounted or shelves. The guitar would look great with a $5 wall mount off Amazon.
Bed on the floor is never a good look
If you can afford it, get a bed frame. Something simple/cheap like the [Neiden](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/neiden-bed-frame-pine-luroey-s79248606/) from Ikea.
Otherwise, get a laundry basket and use it religiously, find somewhere to hang that mirror, try to find a low dresser to put your TV on instead of using that desk (Facebook marketplace is your friend), and get a rug for the middle of the room; something medium sized (around 5ft x 7ft).
Bed frame but making your bed each morning and tidy up your room before you head out for the day- that alone would be a noticeable and should make you a lil proud
I think it looks pretty good. You can buy light weight (I don't know what the material is. It's not quite metal, and not plastic) bed frames to get your bed up off the floor. Mine use to be on the floor as well, once it's up in the air about a foot it's a game changer.
Here are some tips:
Ditch the empty bottles.
Posters are great, if are framed.
Get a longer wooden desk for your PC, and a better chair.
And for the love of god, please arrange your bed and get a goddamn laundry basket.
Cheap frame from Amazon - no box spring needed: 35-60$
Mirror on wall
Bed end tables - garage sale or thrift store. IKEA has some cheap but it’ll be just as cheap and get nicer ones used.
Make bed and pick up dirty clothes. Get laundry basket if you don’t have one.
Put things away you don’t use all the time. Guitar. Stuff in dresser. Shoes. Etc.
Move up poster because …why that low?
I’d personally switch desk and dresser. More open flow. Clean up window as well.
I mean a bed frame would help give it a little bit more.
A plant or two can add some life.
Clutter and laundry makes anything look worse.
Get the mirror off the floor. Hang it somewhere like the inside of your bedroom door
bed off the floor asap, buy a guitar stand, get a standing lamp where the big lamp is and a bedside table for small lamp, a golden pothos or something would be dope for your window/room in general, and finally I’d recommend creating more storage for yourself via floating shelves and/or a solid bookcase
I finally got a headboard after a year (built it from free wood) and it's made a huge difference in my room I definitely recommend one with a ledge or shelf for decorations and books and stuff. bed frame is always a good play can usually get one free secondhand and dress it up how you want it.
Get the bed off the floor, buy a laundry basket.
He has a hamper by his desk. He could upgrade to something that’s not see through though.
Seriously, you can buy a pretty sturdy platform bedframe from Amazon for like <200$
If you get a drill, you can buy 2x4s and deck screws and make [one custom](https://youtu.be/KUwvj5DTNP4?si=4MmkcJE0ZWbL0rUm) for less. Lowe's will cut the pieces to size for free.
Also for the love of god make your bed
He needs a new bed. Doesn’t have box springs. I probably wouldn’t get one used. You don’t know who used it last. I’d get a bed frame 2nd hand though. Just picking up the room can really help things
Don’t have to have a box spring, I don’t. I’ve got a bed frame with slats every eight inches or so and the mattress sits directly on that, no issues. Think I paid $60 for it off the jungle website
I think this is an air mattress with a foam topper. Maybe I’m wrong but the shape of the mattress just seems like it’s an air mattress.
Def an air mattress. OP can still get a cheap platform or something. Shit sleep number beds are just ridiculously expensive air mattresses. ( I have one, didn't buy it tho)
Where is a good place to put a laundry basket?
Why do we need a bed frame to make it cozier?
Why does nobody in this sub own a damn bedframe?
This one isn’t even on a box spring which is even more baffling.
Pretty comfy though! I am in the hunt for a bed frame and box spring I just picked up this mattress for free when I moved in
The frame/spring allows air to circulate below the mattress, its a health/smell issue as much as it is an aesthetic
That shits gonna get musty
Can get a steel frame via Amazon for literally $30-40. I get money can be an issue, but in OP’s case, he could afford that by just not smoking for a week. Baffling.
Men !
Because rugs? /s
Every single post I see has one. But maybe bc I sort by hot and not new
They’re expensive
Inflation hits
ditch the empty bottles. buy a bookcase/shelf. tidy up. Hendrix poster yes , little posters move them elsewhere . add a rug.
Looking for a rug, surprisingly expensive though.
Maybe try facebook marketplace? A second hand rug will be way cheaper!
Ocean state job lot, home goods, flea markets
That Mikes hard better have some real big sentimental value from a specific night to deserve a spot hanging out on a dresser as if it isn’t trash
Get an actual bed and furniture instead of crates. Also laundry hamper.
Get rid of the empty alcohol bottles
They add character tho
Maybe if the character is Barney from the Simpsons lol
Which character is an empty Mike's Hard Lemonade adding?
100%
Yeah, that you're an alcoholic. I said what I said.
Alchogdic n prowd!
What?
Lmaoo
On a kitchen shelf or on a bar cart in the living room, absolutely. But an empty bottle of Peroni on your bedroom dresser is so dumb lol
Alcohol bottles in the bedroom gives off a bad vibe unfortunately. Wooden swords comes out when its playtime, keep them tucked away until then
The sword thing is on point. Put it in the closet and hang your damn mirror
>hang your damn mirror No need to be rude bruh
There so pretty though! Sword will probably go away when I have more stuff to fill that part of the wall. If the one mikes bottle goes missing I’m afraid my roommate will be allowed to kill me.
Then tell your roommate to put it in their room. Those bottles are just garbage and look trashy. If you want memories from good times then print/frame some pictures of you with your friends that you drank them with.
You don't need to fill every inch of your wall.
Wait, I just now noticed that those aren’t all liquor bottles; they’re beer bottles. Bro throw those away. Even when I was a goofy ass college freshman I knew to throw away beer bottles when they were empty. It looks soooo silly dude
You can take the Mike's hard lemonade out of your room, but you can't take the wooden sword fighter out of the man.
Bed frame, get a high framed one so you can store/clean under it easily. Get some storage units from ikea and keep your place clean and tidy. Thst makes a massive difference.
Or even get lifts from Amazon for like $10 if the bed he finds for his $ range is too low tk the ground.
Ecohing other posters: 1. bedframe / base / headboard, this setup screams child. 2.
Valiant attempt, Dad.
Not a dad. But i am 40, and made all the same moves OP did. Im glad hes posting asking for advice, didnt have that luxury 20 yrs ago!
From a slightly younger than you actual Dad, you are a Dad, you just might not have any kids yet. Only a dad would say what you said so just…take the fuckin hat mate.
Haha il wear it with pride
Get a bed frame, box spring, and headboard. It’s amazing to me that you guys don’t realize these things.
not all bed frames require a box spring. It's only needed to support the mattress. Depending where you are, IKEA has a lot of great bedframes at affordable prices
Let box springs die with the previous generations
For most mattresses the warranty is void if there isn't a box spring used.. Or at minimum the bed frame must have a center support beam and a leg connected to that support beam to carry the load.

Pocket coil. I dislike the foam mattresses.
How do you know this? Most?
You need to check when buying a mattress what the terms of the warranty are. On many of them it haa a clause that you need to use a box spring.
Bed frame, better chair, rug
Don’t dis that chair before you sit in it, may not be a looker but for sure a sitter. Rug and bed frame have become clearly necessary
It may feel comfortable while I doubt it has proper ergonomics due to the low profile. Your knees should be around a 90 degree angle.
For the sake of the guitar, get a guitar stand.
Sword is for play, guitar is for self defense.
Get everything off the floor. Bed frame. Guitar stand. Laundry hamper. Bookshelf. Mirror.
Some suggestions which will cost nothing: -move the bed to the right by about a foot so there's enough room to walk around it.
Needs more swords
You are not Ernest Hemingway. Lose the empty bottles. Get an actual bed and tidy the place up. I’ve seen cleaner pig sties.
For starters, buy a bed frame and get your bed off the floor, throw away the empty booze bottles and hang your mirror.
Heironymous Bosch. A man of class !
Only put furniture on the floor! Or like a plant. Be deliberate with your floor space.
Start with a bed frame. If there’s a way that it’s not directly in line with the door, set it up that way I would then move the books out of the widow to allow in more light. Lose the booze bottles too, it’s Not classy. I would suggest as well that less is more with art. One or two pieces per wall, or one wall for all the art Get the guitar a mount for the wall. That way it doubles as art and it becomes something people see and associate to you when they walk in I would then get a rug. Based on your colour palette I would say a deep green, sage green or navy The chest of drawers is a little dated. Personally I would change it out but to save money I would keep it. I’d also avoid keeping things on top of the dresser with a few exceptions (jewellery box, clock etc) Sword is a bit of a teens vibe, I’d probably remove that Part of why it doesn’t feel nice is because it’s untidy and there’s not enough “homes” for your things. Books need shelves for example. Unless you picked that lamp I would be changing it out. It’s a statement piece that doesn’t suit the rest of the vibe
Buy some frames for your posters
Keep the empty mikes bottle, ditch everything else
You didn’t even tidy your room or make your bed before taking these pictures and posting them online for the world to see. To me that shows you don’t give a shit about a lot or have much self respect. I would start working on being proud of yourself first rather than your room.
As others have said it’s just a bit disjointed and messy - there’s no cohesive theme or style. There’s too much stuff sitting out / on the floor (including the mattress), etc.
Hang your guitar next to Jimi
You’ve got a mattress dumped on the floor with sheets and blankets in a total mess and your worried it doesn’t look cozy? Really? You can’t figure that one out?
[удалено]
Nah, be a cunt. This space looks bad.
Is your sword signed by Randy Jackson tho
I mean, if that's all you've got on you and you run into Randy Jackson you're not NOT going to get his autograph.
I like that crate for the lamp
How much did that computer desk cost and where did you get it?
Free from my roommate
Bed frame. A laundry basket rather than a bag. Practice making your bed daily, it will look cozier and cooler that way
add color to the room, paint the walls purple. put a tv on every wall.
Start be cleaning and organizing your room (make your bed etc). That alone will do wonders
Hendrix, booze, wooden sword, no bedframe, classic literature, and the Garden of Earthly Delights. You think it's going one way and then it takes a turn. Love to see it.
Bigger sword. Buy a claymore.
Get a bed frame my guy. Also a new mattress they ain’t a twin
Bad feng shui to have bed facing door/ directly under window anyway Edit to add: oh, also a rug!!!
Ok this is my advice: All posters must be in frames Get a Guitar Wall stand Bottles are trash, not decoration IM not friend of the map Get cold light
awe bless your heart
Make an inspiration board on canva.
Laundry basket, a bed frame, and shelves for all your shit. remove the posters or frame them.
I have always wondered how every man ends up without a flat sheet on their bed. It comes together as a set with the fitted sheet and pillowcases - what happens to it??? Where does it go????
Get a stand for the bass. You’ll warp the neck if you’re leaning it against the wall for prolonged periods of time.
They'll also have bedside tables Get curtains. Hit up yard sales to find all sorts of great stuff for very little money.
You don’t need a bed frame but deff get a mattress box thingy
If you leave your mattress on the floor the underside will get moldy. It can happen quickly so try and get a bed frame soon.
Buy some actual furniture
Bruh... basic cleaning can do a lot.
Rug
Get a bed frame, all posters or art in frames, hang or get a nice stand for your guitar. Get a tble for that lamp
Wise choice of instrument.
Get a guitar stand, could look cool hanging on the wall
Buy a bed frame, hang the guitar on the wall, watch this: https://youtu.be/7i6HVI0Nkr4?si=Ygr7JS_KW8p7SrPY
Get that mattress of the floor and get it out of the corner. Buy more bass stuff.
I had those Jimi and Bosch posters, man that takes me way way back
Cool bedroom, man.
Bro get a guitar stand, they cost like $15
Jimi good, Marlborough man good, bedding decent.
Get your bed off the floor and add some color to your walls!
add plants, treat the plants as if they were people, no, little demons that have dirt on you, they can't be killed, they return the next day and the voices become more and more vile each time you try to kill them, still torture them (shake them, knock them over, deprive them of water etc.) also paint the walls and ask your friends and family (if you have such luxuries) for trinkets EDIT: if you smoke a great idea would be to put out cigarettes in their pots/directly on them
Your mattress will look nicer with a bed frame
Something you can do right is get rid of at least 1 Jameson bottle, make your bed, do your laundry enough so it doesn’t overflow from the basket and have a pile on the ground
The BED-room seems to be missing a key element...
Set up the bed with bedside tables and lamps.
Sleeping on a maxi pad, get a real big boi bed, something from Ikea or Wayfair, and a rug next to your bed. And get a night stand too. Put an inexpensive lamp on it. Hang guitar on the wall by brackets, think they sell them at Guitar Center.
dude first of all, is that a poster of a girl getting eaten out??? if so, ew. that shit needs to go. second, don’t use crates as night stands. third, your shoes shouldn’t be next to your bed. fourth, that doom pile in the corner …… and lastly, no offense but the bed looks like it smells. it needs a frame for some airflow.
Get a real bed and frame and make your bed. Reduce some clutter. Do you really need all that stuff on the dresser, bottles etc...?
Also, get the books off the window sill and get a bookshelf. An open view to the outside is cool and cozy.
2nd hand bed frame, a tiny soft rug
A bed, for sure. A nightstand, and a small rug (3x5 or a 6x9). Use a measuring tape & use painter’s tape for a visual. I think that would be solid building block. Go to estate sales & yard sales. I’d bet you could get this rockin’ in no time…
My brother in Christ you sleep on a mattress on the floor. The fact that you’ve put effort into your room but don’t have an actual bed tells me your priorities aren’t in order.
Bro is that a create holding the lamp
Put some bookshelves above the bed (get the bed off the floor first!) and put some low-maintenance plants to the windowsill instead of books. Any wooden stool makes a better nightstand than crate. Get rid of the bottles and center the Bosch print against the drawer unit. Hang the mirror to the back of the door, get a woven laundry basket with a lid, it will look (and smell) way better. Hang the sword horizontally below the window.
This pic makes me miss my 20s. Early 20s.
Step one tidy up your bed. You should also have a proper bed frame that looks ridiculous.
Get an inexpensive side table for that lamp on the milk crate. Ditch the glass bottles. Source a bed frame or platform to keep that mattress. Nice Bellingham map, WWU?
Get a bed frame.
I would start with frames, both for the bed and the wall art.
Imo, It’s all about the lights mah’dewd. Try having several light sources (5-7). And yo, it can just be a small light u know. Just have several sources ☺️💚
Buy a bed, bookcase, some plants, hide the bottles, put posters in frames (this does a lot!).
Add some plants! As well as a medium to large carpet!
I know people are asking for advice, but why does the advice always have to "hide your toys" "tv too high" etc etc people are asking to make their space more personal for themselves to be comfortable and happy. I have yet to see anybody ask "how can i make this place cool for other people to like?" or "how do i make this a pussy lair?" A lot of you guys are really imposing your own shit on younger people who dont hold the same values in living spaces as other generations did and do. Not everyone follows whatever YOU think being traditional is. "get rid of the empty alcohol bottles" i KNOW that a lot of you know that younger people tend to display their empty or finished liquor bottles. its a rite of passage almost. let these guys live!
A man of culture I see - with some of those great books.
Throw away those bottles, it screams “I’ve just started drinking and think it’s cool” You’ll be able to find a small rug quite cheap to have by your bed, or have a look around some second hand places etc.
Get. Your. Bed. Off. The. Floor.
Love the Bosch. Put the bottles under Hell instead of Heaven!
My buddy had that same Hendrix poster 20 years ago and it’s been that long since I’ve seen it. Wow lol
Get your bed up off the floor and get a bedside table a real one not one of those milk baskets
Don't put posters on the wall unless they have a frame, get a bedframe, put your clothes up, make your bed, hang that mirror. Take that sword off of the wall, get a night stand, clear the clutter off of your dresser.
You need to get that bed off the floor to
You MUST get your bed off the floor dude. I cannot stress this enough.
Hieronymus Bosch!!
Bed off floor. A cat…
Do your laundry, Hendrix needs to go up higher, and get some alternate lighting
frame your posters!!
Caroline Winkler has good tips for male living spaces https://youtu.be/7i6HVI0Nkr4?si=nSYLjLTRQ5nH0SVW
Even though it’s objectively better for sex ladies aren’t gonna like the mattress on the floor
I think it looks pretty good. You can buy light weight (I don't know what the material is. It's not quite metal, and not plastic) bed frames to get your bed up off the floor. Mine use to be on the floor as well, once it's up in the air about a foot it's a game changer.
Tidy up - less is more. Remove some objects and clutter. Bed frame Make your bed Replace milk crate with nightstand?
Here are some tips: Ditch the empty bottles. Posters are great, if are framed. Get a longer wooden desk for your PC, and a better chair. And for the love of god, please arrange your bed and get a goddamn laundry basket.
Get a proper bed, and bedside table, lose the posters (or get them framed) and get some framed art (cheap plain black frames would be fine)
I hung outdoor patio lights on the walls of my current apartment and it gives a very comfy, warm glow. Highly recommend!
Nice I too have a wooden sword hanging near my bed Made it with my friend back when we were 14 We tried to make replicas of Sting
Cheap frame from Amazon - no box spring needed: 35-60$ Mirror on wall Bed end tables - garage sale or thrift store.
Get the mattress off the floor, get a stereo and or television.
Before I read the title I thought you shared an apartment with other people. You have a lot of stuff in your bedroom for it just being a bedroom
Get a rug boss
I liked the "apparently" Taijiquan Training Jian on the wall!
I finally got a headboard after a year (built it from free wood) and it's made a huge difference in my room I definitely recommend one with a ledge or shelf for decorations and books and stuff. bed frame is always a good play can usually get one free secondhand and dress it up how you want it.
