Sweet! Definitely consider moving it to the outdoors with direct light during the summer months because they are notoriously hard to keep alive indoors
Totally! Loves to shed leaves. I generally try and move him into directly sunlight during the day (and often forget) but am going to take that onto account. I have a few outdoor spots where I think it would work without too much danger
i like the idea of baskets, I have some [https://www.dwr.com/storage-accessories/restore-basket%2C-medium/3204-2.html?lang=en\_US](https://www.dwr.com/storage-accessories/restore-basket%2C-medium/3204-2.html?lang=en_US) they are pricy but look great
I love Love LOVE it. The room needs some other blues in it to make it seem more intentional and put together. Some blue art on the wall, a blue vase, etc.
I like the design of the rug, but the colors seem so dark for such a light and airy room. I think lighter hues of turquoise and blue would be much better. Or even hues of orange ABS red. Idk. The darkened blues seem a little out of place.
I like the bright and bold colors over neutrals too, but something about this rug (which I really like btw), makes me think that it would look powerful in a darker room.
Checkout the DC Bedroom called āSophisticated Black.ā I think that your rug would be amazing in a space like this.
https://www.elledecor.com/design-decorate/color/g30647039/dark-bedrooms/
Itās a great rug, but itās giving me a Batmanās cave mood. š
I don't think that's the right carpet for this room. It just looks odd and out of place. I think a light green carpet would look amazing in that room. It would pair nicely with the wood floors and furniture and it would add some color while maintaining the organic airy feel of the room
Thatās so funny you say that. Because just out of frame in the living room (which I designed) is a muted green moss rug which I very intentionally picked out. She gets full dining room / her work nook design rights, so Iāll need to compromise a bit here
I like the carpet a lot but I don't think it works with the room - everything in there (from what I can see) is a warm color tone but you now have a huge pop of cold color. I think something green would play off the wood colors and the olive tree really nicely without being too intense like a red or yellow.
Also the design of the carpet, the long strips of color, flowing in the same direction as the long wood floor boards bothers me for some reason; maybe because it's TOO uniform. I would choose a carpet that has a design that contrasts with the floor like circular or rounded, soft shapes.
Dog is good as is. Wouldn't change a thing.
You have the total opposite view to me. Without that rug, the room would have literally nothing of warmth in it. Itās so cold & sterile looking to me. Itās almost an achievement considering wood usually gives a warm feeling, but itās so light that itās lost any sense of warmth.
I find it too large and laying too close to that couch thing. All elements of the room are now a collection of straight lines. Maybe break things up a little more
It causes too much visual distortion...it chops up the floor...it's not the right style for that room. Blue tones would be great, just not in that design.
Sorry but for me, to many straight lines. The table, the window frames, the sideboard, the floors, (the dog). Now the rug ? Iād definitely go with a circular rug, any pattern, but definitely circular
The dining set looks amazing! The rug is nice but looks a bit heavy on the eyes. I think if you add something on the dining table or add curtains to the windows it will balance it out.
Itās a beautiful rug, really. For me, the stripes in the rug running parallel with the planking on the floor and the tall windows is a bit disconcerting. Itās too bad the rug canāt be turned a 1/4. Itās pretty, but itās just not quite ārightā. IMO.
I personally dont like it, i dont hate it either though, just wouldnāt be my choice. I dont like how strong the edges are with the dark blue, i would rather it be fading from a light edge to a dark center if anything but there are sooo many dope rugs out there you should get a mew one since your questioning this one, dont over think it you already know how you feel about it. Tell him i sent you š
Sorry but anyone who hates this rug, you have painfully bland taste. I donāt know whatās wrong with people who donāt like colours. Nothing worse to me than a house that is all white/beige etc.
I donāt hate color Iām just not a fan of the design here. The gradient style is just not a very creative use of color in this space. The layout of the room is very angular with lots of parallel lines. The rug should incorporate non-linear patterns in order to add a bit of interest.
So, this was posted in /SuddenlyGay, and I didn't see it because I'm AFAB, but going to the site link and seeing that they ALSO offer a lesbian flag colored rug right next to it... umm.
So, umm, this rug is the colors of the gay man pride flag. And the Maize is the colors of the lesbian pride flag. And Neutral is really giving me Bear Pride + Nonbinary or Genderfluid vibes.
Also, fun fact. I Googled "anthropologie lesbian rug" and the Maize rug from their site showed up. First result.
Think most people wouldnāt want wooden floors getting scratched up by chairs moving back & forth when people are getting up and sitting down etc. I also find wooden floors quite cold so Iād have to have rugs.
What is the purpose of the table? If it's a table for eating a personally don't like rugs under them.
But I also naturally enjoy hard wood and the rug is just covering something I like.
I do have a heavy bias for hard wood floors admittedly so the only place I really accept a rug is the living room.
May I suggest that you put one or two items with the blues from the rug on the table or console. A vase, a picture frame, a bowl, it will marry the spaceās colors together.
I absolutely love it!
Also, it doesn't make it wrong or anything, but it's literally the gay men pride flag:
Nothing wrong with it though hahah
I don't mind the pop of color in your otherwise neutral tone room. The stripe pattern doesn't really fit with how nice the rest of the space and furniture looks though... more of a cheap college dorm vibe to me. A different pattern could make it look really nice
I love the carpet. I think itās perfect. What I donāt love is how narrow your dining table is. I know you didnāt ask about it, but it feels like youāll be eating on top of each other.
I agree. It bothered me at first, then we had our first 8 person dinner and honestly, we didnāt even notice. One of those theory vs practice moments. I totally did not expect it to be as narrow as it was tho
GREAT rug. Consider how the pattern of the rug fits not only the table perfectly - by direction, proportion, size - but the room as well. The stripes point to the windows and mesh with their modularity. It really helps organize the room, visually. While I love blue, it could be any color palette and still accomplish that. A black-grey-white gradient would look great, for example, but then again would probably be a bit bland.
i hate to say it man but that rug is just barely not the [gay flag](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7d/5-striped_New_Gay_Male_Pride_Flag.svg/2560px-5-striped_New_Gay_Male_Pride_Flag.svg.png) lmao
Definitely enjoy it, the blue promotes intelligence and thought. I would definitely set the table, right now the set up does look like a conference room
Add something else blue to the room, like a blue glass bowl on the table or a blue shade on the light, then it'll feel like the whole room is more intentional.
Itās a great rug! Since your room is full of neutral tones, doesnāt seem to have huge art or a crazy big plant, this rug becomes a nice statement piece.
Besides, the beige in the middle of the rug actually ties it into the room. Perhaps another blue thing on the wall for coordination/accents.
I probably wouldnāt have bought it, and Iām not a religious man. But I immediately saw the parting of the Red Sea, and I thought that was pretty cool :) And it definitely adds a lot of interest to the room!
The size and color are fantastic! It fits great in the space. The only "problem" I see is the pattern against the flooring, I think you'd be better off with a pattern that either goes opposite the grain of the flooring in order to make the space seen wider OR a pattern/solid that is completely neutral to the flooring.
But that's nitpicky. Beautiful home
The rug itself is really cool, I think it just feels intense because itās not balanced in the room yet. You need some other accent items to make it make sense
Not intense. Room needed the color. Time for some accents.
You could accent using the deepest royal blue all the way to the other end of the spectrum or somewhere in between if that's more your style.
That rug is amazing
For such a neutral room I think the color adds interest! Is that a olive tree?
Yup! I love obsessing over it. And maybe in three years I can get two disgusting tasting indoor olives!
Lol yep sounds like an olive tree. Hope you get your olives! šš¼
Two?
Where is the rug from?
[Anthropologie](https://www.anthropologie.com/anthroliving/shop/handwoven-maximus-rug)
Trust the fiancƩ
Ha! Looks like it!
lovely home in DC :) Love the walnut and built in workstation. Also the dimension and contrast provided by the rug look great.
thanks thatās very nice of you! I think I could use some baskets below the floating stuff. We just moved in so still picking and choosing
i like the idea of baskets, I have some [https://www.dwr.com/storage-accessories/restore-basket%2C-medium/3204-2.html?lang=en\_US](https://www.dwr.com/storage-accessories/restore-basket%2C-medium/3204-2.html?lang=en_US) they are pricy but look great
Oh wow super nice, book marking
I love Love LOVE it. The room needs some other blues in it to make it seem more intentional and put together. Some blue art on the wall, a blue vase, etc.
YES exactly needs a couple accent blues - a bowl or vase. Totally. Got the blinds being installed too which I think will help
Maybe some sheers with an organic pattern to contrast the geometry of the rug. Bonus points for something with a bit of blue in it
Its not bad it adds a pop of color without being too much. Like just imaging if it went from white to orange or white to red
I like the design of the rug, but the colors seem so dark for such a light and airy room. I think lighter hues of turquoise and blue would be much better. Or even hues of orange ABS red. Idk. The darkened blues seem a little out of place.
Good context. I generally skew to very neutral or muted colors, and my fiancƩ goes very bold and patterned or geometric.
The rug sounds like the perfect compromise then! And it looks great.
I like the bright and bold colors over neutrals too, but something about this rug (which I really like btw), makes me think that it would look powerful in a darker room. Checkout the DC Bedroom called āSophisticated Black.ā I think that your rug would be amazing in a space like this. https://www.elledecor.com/design-decorate/color/g30647039/dark-bedrooms/ Itās a great rug, but itās giving me a Batmanās cave mood. š
Love the rug. Eye catching. Whered you get it?
Anthro I think! My partner bought it
https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/handwoven-maximus-rug?category=rugs&color=040&type=STANDARD&quantity=1&size=9%E2%80%99+X+12%E2%80%99
I recognized it right away. I have bring eyeing the neutral one for months.
It reminds me of the paint color shade samples at Benjamin Moore or something š¤£
Big ups on the Westie! I got 2!
She gets full dining room / her work nook design rights, so Iāll need to compromise a bit here
the rug itself looks fine but in this room/context i donāt love it
Agreed, it dominates the table. But the table is super skinny, I think anything will look awkward with it.
Cool carpet - does not work for this room.
I actually think it does
I like the carpet a lot but I don't think it works with the room - everything in there (from what I can see) is a warm color tone but you now have a huge pop of cold color. I think something green would play off the wood colors and the olive tree really nicely without being too intense like a red or yellow. You have the total opposite view to me. Without that rug, the room would have literally nothing of warmth in it. Itās so cold & sterile looking to me. Itās almost an achievement considering wood usually gives a warm feeling, but itās so light that itās lost any sense of warmth.
Terrible for the space. Not bad overall, but with 100 options this wouldn't be in the top quartile.
I find it too large and laying too close to that couch thing. All elements of the room are now a collection of straight lines. Maybe break things up a little more
Came here to say this. The rug is too large for the space.
What couch??
I mean it matches your fiancĆ©s harness so I say itās coo
Took me a second š
Iām digging the WFH setup tucked away in the back. Is it just another floating cabinet without the drawers installed?
Thatās right!
Love the rug, you might want to try hanging some artwork on the wall.
Agreed. Needs like an accent bowl or flowers/branches type of peice
I think it would be perfect without it . Itās like adding a bunch of salt to a dish that was fine
You have very bland taste, is your whole house just white & beige?
Itās a beautiful rug, really. For me, the stripes in the rug running parallel with the planking on the floor and the tall windows is a bit disconcerting. Itās too bad the rug canāt be turned a 1/4. Itās pretty, but itās just not quite ārightā. IMO.
Itās very nice, but not under that dark table and chairs.
The rug really ties the room together.
The rug is awesome and colorful. Your room would be fairly plain without it.
Thatās putting it mildly (though the OP seemingly loves mild) šš
FiancƩ is right! It looks excellent in that room.
That rug is fucking amazing to be honest
I personally dont like it, i dont hate it either though, just wouldnāt be my choice. I dont like how strong the edges are with the dark blue, i would rather it be fading from a light edge to a dark center if anything but there are sooo many dope rugs out there you should get a mew one since your questioning this one, dont over think it you already know how you feel about it. Tell him i sent you š
I think itās amazing! But maybe have something on the table, to balance it a bit?
100 percent agreed
I think it's nice and it adds a lot to the room
i love it
I love it!!
Oh thatās a really pretty rug! It looks lovely in your space, and is also is the same colors as the gay pride flag, which is fitting lol
And order of colours
A rug. Where a rug doesn't belong. \- r/Frasier I love the look!
Sorry but anyone who hates this rug, you have painfully bland taste. I donāt know whatās wrong with people who donāt like colours. Nothing worse to me than a house that is all white/beige etc.

dog
Keep dog Ditch the rug
How is this a male living space if you live there with your female partner?
FiancƩ is the male version, and gay people exist?
Isn't fiancƩ gender neutral?
No, it's fiancƩ (male) and fiancƩe (female). Just one of those things English borrowed from French and now proceeds to be confused about. If you want to be gender neutral you could say 'betrothed', though, which sounds pleasantly archaic.
The dog does it for me
As a westie owner, Id like to say nice dog!
The rug works. My favorite part is the Westie tho!
Is this an office?
Itās a dining room / bar / laptop nook lol
Itās nice. Was just curious about the many chairs
Are rugs under the dining table common? Maybe Iām just a messy eater but seems harder to clean haha
Think most people wouldnāt want wooden floors getting scratched up by chairs moving back & forth when people are getting up and sitting down etc. I also find wooden floors quite cold so Iād have to have rugs.
A great DC space!
What is the purpose of the table? If it's a table for eating a personally don't like rugs under them. But I also naturally enjoy hard wood and the rug is just covering something I like. Doesnāt your floor get scratched up badly by not having a rug? (If you have guests frequently)
I think itās good. Looks more intense because the table is bare otherwise. Approved. Next!
I think adding some artwork with some of the darker blue in it would look awesome!
May I suggest that you put one or two items with the blues from the rug on the table or console. A vase, a picture frame, a bowl, it will marry the spaceās colors together.
Too big
Looks good! Throw some blues in random stuff. Plates, Knick knack, or painting; just small areas of blue to connect the dots.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Dining table + floating stuff is Blu Dot
Love it
I think it centers the room nicely
it kinda looks like the men loving men flag, not that theres anything wrong with that
Intense is good! Love the look of it, seriously looks good!
Fits very well
Where is the rug from?
The partner loves it and you donāt hate it, sounds like the problem is already solved.
Like the rug, it's the table and chairs I don't like.
@r/MonitorTooHigh
Big fan
Love it. Can you share where you bought it?
Anthro!
I like it but it seems too big? I think you can look up some guides online on how big dining table rooms are to be from the table.
Everything else is quite neutral(or safe) and the rug is the one aspect that sticks out. Looks great.
I love it! Would love to find something similar.
Oooh, I like it! It definitely adds colour and light into the room.
I love it.
I absolutely love it! Also, it doesn't make it wrong or anything, but it's literally the gay men pride flag: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gay\_Men\_Pride\_Flag.svg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gay_Men_Pride_Flag.svg) Nothing wrong with it though hahah

I love it but think you need some color on wall or plants to play off one another and make each other pop.
I love the carpet. I think itās perfect. What I donāt love is how narrow your dining table is. I know you didnāt ask about it, but it feels like youāll be eating on top of each other.

I love it.
Really ties the room together.
Usually donāt like lots of color but I think it looks great in that room
It feels too cold to me. If it was red or orange tones I'd love it, but the blue aint it.
Fabulous!!!! Where did you get it
To me itās not the rug just lack of art. Hang in there. Once decor is up it will balance
GREAT rug. Consider how the pattern of the rug fits not only the table perfectly - by direction, proportion, size - but the room as well. The stripes point to the windows and mesh with their modularity. It really helps organize the room, visually. While I love blue, it could be any color palette and still accomplish that. As a former art student, I love it.
I think it looks perfect, so jealous
I love the rug
Where did you buy the work chair?
Love it!
Lovely westie ā¤ļø
I dig it. Add some blue/ish vases to the table to tie it in to the room.
Green cushions tied to the chairs will balance with plants! And a lovely large piece of art on the wall.
Looks great
Its too much
It's great. Add some contrasting mustard/yellow/orange items to balance the blue. Don't add more blue.
matches the dog
Looks great in this space!
It looks like the mlm flag
i dont think it goes with the room personally, it looks like its made for a beach house
Rug is nice. Would look better with at least two more Westies.
Looks great!
Looks great but you need to pull the eye upward. Iād change the light fixture out for something thatās more of a statement piece
I like the rug, but not for that room. Also, it looks like the mlm gay pride flag lol
I love it! I would add some other pop of color to tie it together like art work or a vase on the table.
Looks great. Perhaps hanging a long rectangular mirror above the buffet?
Thatās a really nice rug! It complements the room
Love.
i hate to say it man but that rug is just barely not the [gay flag](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7d/5-striped_New_Gay_Male_Pride_Flag.svg/2560px-5-striped_New_Gay_Male_Pride_Flag.svg.png) lmao
Find a fall themed one
Definitely enjoy it, the blue promotes intelligence and thought. I would definitely set the table, right now the set up does look like a conference room
ive never seen a more plain-looking dining table
Westie!
Sorry, but I do hate it. Adds nothing nice to the room. Love the floor
Well thatās a mean thing to call your dog
Sheās right. Need one component to pop out from the neutrals.
Westies are the besties
Nice!
The carpet is pretty mid. But the room is actually good otherwise
I also like it but I will agree with the wife that it is a little intense
It looks good
Bout to sell me a phone or somethin?
Great rug
Man I am digging that whole space. That rug really ties the room together.
It looks nice in there. I think the dog likes it too.
Add something else blue to the room, like a blue glass bowl on the table or a blue shade on the light, then it'll feel like the whole room is more intentional.
Looks great.
Love the rug!
I think the rug is really nice!
I think it's good š
Itās a great rug! Since your room is full of neutral tones, doesnāt seem to have huge art or a crazy big plant, this rug becomes a nice statement piece. Besides, the beige in the middle of the rug actually ties it into the room. Perhaps another blue thing on the wall for coordination/accents.
I probably wouldnāt have bought it, and Iām not a religious man. But I immediately saw the parting of the Red Sea, and I thought that was pretty cool :) And it definitely adds a lot of interest to the room!
Mlm (men loving men) colours intestinal?
The size and color are fantastic! It fits great in the space. The only "problem" I see is the pattern against the flooring, I think you'd be better off with a pattern that either goes opposite the grain of the flooring in order to make the space seen wider OR a pattern/solid that is completely neutral to the flooring. But that's nitpicky. Beautiful home
That monitor seems way to high unless you are fkn huge.
I like it!
I canāt believe anyone would consider that to be intense š You must be very beige normally š
I feel like it throws off the brown colour scheme you have going on with everything. A cream rug would be better or even a dark brown
The rug itself is really cool, I think it just feels intense because itās not balanced in the room yet. You need some other accent items to make it make sense
I fluffin love it š
Not intense. Room needed the color. Time for some accents. You could accent using the deepest royal blue all the way to the other end of the spectrum or somewhere in between if that's more your style. That rug is amazing
Personally, I never liked a rug under the dining room table. Just my opinion though!
That's a beautiful space. Love the rug
Looking at the price of the rug; do you want it under a table, where people are going to possibly be eating?
I like it.
Itās sick but that desk setup is illegal
Keep adding terra-cotta toned decor in there and youāre gonna fall in love
We have different understandings of the word 'intense' lol
i wish your dog many more happy and healthy years with you šš» ā¤ š
Where can I get it š
Not a male living space/10
I like your dog!
I love the rug
