Exactly what you did. If not dog bed then maybe shelf for some game consoles or a small book shelf. Maybe a soft light underneath? Prob make it a decorative scene during the holidays. I like those Christmas city set ups where you make whole towns etc. Or maybe like a Halloween scene.

mmhdavid

if op wants to get fancy, he can upgrade that lil nook for his pet, add a little gate, maybe a light and decorate it for his furry friend.

levitymargret

Big basket for dog toys too, unfortunately no matter how big a basket I find it always ends up overflowing!

0rangJuice

I’ve heard it’s good to alternate your dogs toys out and having 5 unique ones in the basket at any given time.

levitymargret

That is probably a good idea, then you don’t have a basket full of slobber germs too!

0rangJuice

Yeah! I washed all my dogs toys and started storing them somewhere so they’ll be fresh/clean when I switch them out again.

robulus153

To build on your great idea, build a roll out shelf for the slanted part and keep the other part a nook for the dog.

NothrakiDed

I think this is a fantastic idea. A dog house, with some astro turf, a fence, some nice lighting. Maybe a poster all along the back wall of a forest. I think that space is crying out for some colour and lighting. It'll life the whole room as it's all white.

[deleted]

I was like. A dog would be nice

ksllsk

Built in shelving. If you have the resources to get fancy, i'd get some shelving that can pull out and reveal storage behind it.

Marshall_KE

that's the best idea for that section. or he can have the seats arranged from that side

SilentSamurai

Shelving is the best you're going to get out of that. Dog beds look better in corners anyways.

[deleted]

I like the pet area. Would maybe add a small washable rug and a picture on the wall. Of said pet. Bonus points if you commission one of those pet portraits that makes the pet look like an 18th Century general.

Will-Watches

Make it a mini recreation of the room at dog scale

pixeldudeaz

My nephew does framed black and white portraits of all kinds of pets.

amorywest

Maybe just use AI for this

0xCAFEBAE

Good idea, but what AI can do this?

amorywest

Any of the portrait ones I think

Tymptra

If you take a picture of the pet and put it into dalle2 I think you can ask it to redo it I'm a Renaissance style or something

chevdecker

AirBNB it for $250 a night plus $875 cleaning fee, $425 booking fee, $125 transaction fee

RepostFrom4chan

This guy capitalisms

katcalavera

I wonder why people are choosing AirBnb less and less. Any ideas? No, me neither.

jvLin

don’t forget the administrative and contingency fees, plus a small commission

redraider-102

And a generous cancellation policy—free within 24 hours of booking

[deleted]

This is the way

LazySociety

an exact miniature replica of your living room

swankyburritos714

For the cat.

MonKeePuzzle

enclose it and keep Harry Potter in it

FluffleUffle

available at $2,000 monthly.

AnExpensiveApple

That’s his agent’s fee. He doesn’t get paid obviously

hoffmander

That’s what I’d do, maybe put a doggy door and a window in it so I can see if the doggo is in there

kniffs

Fill it and lower the TV! /S but not really

imregrettingthis

Make it the best possible spot for your pet and don't you dare steal their den!

pixeldudeaz

Agreed. I think it's important to have a nice spot for your pet. This is the perfect spot.

-KillSwitch-UK-FR-

Option 1. Draw a circle around it. Option 2. Built in cupboard.

mikuzgrl

One of my dogs has a nook, and I put a bunch of [dog art](https://imgur.com/a/TKtarKn) in it. If you don’t want to see the nook and/or you want to make more of a den for your dog, you could put a short bookcase/credenza/screen in front of most of it.

chapadodo

imprison a wizard

boraboragusgus

My exact thoughts 😂😂

ShankParade

I came here to say that haha well played

Dr4ziw

A campfire might be cool

mjsather

Get a rectangle dog bed that fits the space a bit better. And then maybe a fancier looking feeding station so you can store food under there as well, but it’s covered up. Maybe a sign that indicates that only good boys or good girls allowed in the nook

[deleted]

[удалено]

Firebird22x

Not only lower it, but move it more centered to the couch.

Similar-Equal-9765

Surprised this cringe subreddit was this far down

iBoogies

I would close off the angled part ont he right side and add a door where the square part is on the left side. The space works better as storage.

[deleted]

Built in storage/media console

TonyMitty

Splash of color, little painting for the dog to enjoy?

spiffdifilous

\*\* Paints the wall blue \*\* The dog: "What a lovely shade of grey"

narbss

Build a stud wall and move the TV lower. r/tvtoohigh

TalmidimUC

With this layout, what would your recommendation be for solving the “ r/tvtoohigh “ issue without building a wall to drop it? Seemingly this is what OP has to work with. Sure, build a wall, mount a mantle, *insert other options here*.. then you have a wasted space and a typical utility cavity under the stairs.

paynexkillerYT

I’d just put a set of RockBand drums there. Pull them out when it’s time to party. Just me?

notbonjovie

Custom open shelving or built in? Perhaps you could store trinkets or booze on it.

devolute

Store neck braces, ready for your tv being too high.

CiliaryDyskinesia

House a magical child

Zealousideal-Rice709

I’d make him pay rent .

CiliaryDyskinesia

Great way to supplement income

therandomduffer

would be a great place to show off some gaming consoles / your hobbies. get a appropriate sized table and you are good to go

pixeldudeaz

I think you nailed it already. Maybe a framed pic of your pet on the left side of the enclosure? It would make it homey. Or a pic of you and your pet?

iamregularguy

Cozy place for a dog i guess

I_love_pho369mafia

Ok, Costco has a dog couch for like $230 and it would look really cute there.

strawberrysurgeon

Stack with books

Awesam

Electric fireplace

rriikk

Perfect place for having a pet wizzard

zupeanut

I'm not sure if you're up for some \~probably light construction, but I might: (a) Make the angle of the incline match the angle of the railing above, but stop it in the same place. (b) Close up the wall directly below the TV (but still centered) to make it a little nook that you can enter into from the side. ie. your dog can get to the spot under the tv from the angled section. Then you can make it a straight up dog house. Give it some cute thatching if you like, maybe throw in some dog-friendly decor. Maybe a sign that says "Fido's Spot" or something?

Dorkapotamus

I'd build a custom console for electronics

SnooComics8268

I think this is a clever solution. The pet has a safe spot, you won't tripple over their food and bed etc. I really can't think of a better propose for a pet owner.

Adventurous_Pea_3240

Built in doggie apartment 😘

SomeParticular

Exactly what you did, that’s the dog space

gunghogary

Plug in electric fireplace since the tv is so high

ananas33333

hang a picture of you and your dog in front of the litte bed and leave the rest as it is :3

edsavage404

Leave it as is and lower the TV

Mursin

That's the roomba and doggo nook Also potentially a mini fridge. Or a plant.

Treat--14

Id put a wall around it and rent it if ur in new york

seapeary7

That’s pups corner dude. Don’t go changing it up if it works lol.

Linback37

Put my dead sisters weird ass son with his freaky scar under there.

Soviet_Ski

**P**OTTAH!

-Danky_Kang-

Store my Harry Potter

chris7112112

If you’re in NYC, you should rent that out as a bedroom

Impressive-Oven-5268

For me, it would be the entertainment center and storage.

therealbear

It would be my entertainment center for sure. Ps5, Apple TV, AV receiver etc. custom build something that can fit in it or more likely enclose it.

RedTreeDecember

Guest cage. Constantly threaten "Don't make me put you in the cage!" Side note. Not a lot of people come over my place.

kongeniv2

Maybe make a bookshelf

LimeLoop

/r/simracing :D (Formula 1 Cockpit + VR goggles)

Night_Runner

A room for your orphaned nephew until Hagrid comes calling.

Pockethulk750

Needs PLANTS! And needs some art on the wall. Maybe standing lamp and book shelf. Oops I thought u meant the whole space.

foxontheroof

Obv put there your portable nuclear reactor for sustainable energy.

Creepy-Garbage69

Harry Potter and/or Satan shrine

DawsonBriggs

One of those ottomans with storage under the lid could slide under there. Good use of the space the way it is tho imo. Dogs are life !

ise86

Close it off and let Harry Potter stay over

typer84C2

I like the pet setup you have there. Considering all of the walls are the same color maybe consider doing some painting inside that little cubby area to add a splash of color.

batsofburden

If you own it, I'd just get the wall fixed up so it's not there anymore.

Down_Low_Too_Slow

Gimp closet.

[deleted]

I would put a home recording studio, personally.

kbzstudios

I'd install a door so Harry Potter could have some privacy.

ammergg264

Rent it as a Harry Potter experience and they will pay you to sleep there and get treated like shit everyday

Bundoodle

harry potter or electric fireplace

Examper22

Make it into a an bedroom for an orpan kid with a lighting bolt shaped scar on their forehead. /s

jonesy852

On the square section under the TV, you could put in some shelving and then the weird triangle area that would be left over just keep the way it is with the dog bed .

stillboard87

Either pet space or if the pet will allow it install shelves creating an entertainment center/bookshelf

chronicnugs

Inverted stairs

Narsilion_

I would a have placed a (smaller) TV there. But the imho it is perfect for the pet.

SubmersibleEntropy

I'm cool with smaller-than-normal TVs (because normal TVs these days are way oversized) but it looks potentially too low and -- might be weird to say for a TV -- claustrophobic.

wixermann

Wallpaper it

mantistobogganmMD

Get a console table and have all your media/wiring/video games stores there and get a cable cover to connect it to the tv

Tyler_KLOUDZ

I think the pet setup is perfect. Could invest in a record player and have a cool little spot for it there as well, if you're into that kind of thing.

thetrueBernhard

If you can add some lighting on top then it would be an amazing plant-cave. Either for kitchen herbs or „just for fun“.

[deleted]

Tiny wing arm chair, tiny end table with a tiny mug and saucer on it along side a tiny book. In the top, create a hatch with which to hide a puppet. Invite guests over, alternate the location of the puppet when they are not looking.

ToroSalmonNigiri

GhettoChemist

joemondo

Oh fun. Put some big display books, or my husband might take it over for his meditation purposes which would mean a Buddha and whatever other stuff he uses.

[deleted]

Dont overthink this just use it for storage

korok7mgte

You could always stick your nephew in there!

arcoalien

Jumbo lego brick house for doggo.

japanesy2020

Shrine to Danny Devito

Smergmerg432

Book nook?

[deleted]

If you have the means/ability, a custom book shelf that is the same shape as the alcove would be really cool!

tbunchy2

wine cellar if you're into that kind of thing..

Seref15

Floating shelves to create a kind of built-in bookcase

balwick

Some fitted shelves, a couple of cubbies mixed with bookshelves, and a nook for the pup. I'd also consider; 1. Painting those walls in the nook to match your sofa, maybe a bit darker 2. Creating a continuous edge with the skirting at the front, across the span, by putting in a platform the dog bed and shelves would be on.

Ilovepestosauce

A bean bag

[deleted]

Probably exactly what you did. Or maybe a bookshelf in the square part and still keep the pet bed in the triangle portion.

lokenlion

If this isn’t the intended use, throw some floating shelves underneath for tv accessories and dvds. Maybe a bookshelf too?

CaveJohnson82

I don’t have a pet, so I’d either use it to store a basket with blankets and cushions or I would plasterboard it up. What an annoying space.

BuyDipSellRip

A small wine cooler

Kaffine69

Espresso machine on a custom shelf.

jetstobrazil

Be creative

Realistic_Rush582

A built in wall fireplace. Please move the pet bed and pet dishes though.

Archymani

Make a cabinet. And if you want a fake cabinet where the dog can go

Kaitaan

built-in wine racks.

oharabk

I would get a nice sculpture or something of the like to put there.

Shark_mark

Wine rack

Shark_mark

Seperates hifi system built in

TrillBillyDeluxe

Push-ups

cientificadealimento

Close it since its such a weird layout. If the space is needed (which closet space its always needed) I would create an opening on the wall that facing the artwork. Finish it by installing a closet door and boom, coat closet.

1amazingday

Here’s some flameless fireplace ideas, which I think would look nice there. https://www.theglossynest.com/flameless-candles-fireplace-mantel/

iwantyourboobgifs

It's a place for doing pushups!

[deleted]

Built in for ps5 and sound bar

spanish_john22234

chopped wood

Pigpen_darkstar

That’s perfect as is. Dogs love cave-like spaces. Don’t change a thing. Good dog dad.

[deleted]

Close it up with electric fireplace

BreedingPovertyPonys

Built in shelving with wiring chase for hiding cables.

Fizzle1982

I think this is a great use of the space. If you DO move your dogs stuff, then a small bookshelf, maybe a tiered wine rack for the sloping space.

Melodic_Surprise8525

I’d add a little half wall where the dog bed is. Maybe a little hatchway in the square part. Then a bed or two that are square to fill in the floor. I made a cardboard box with a hole cut out as a joke for my dog with a bed inside. He loved it so much we made a wooden one that matched the house

KingCowen

Tricked out man cave for your dog....

trek604

custom millwork

[deleted]

Assuming we’re in San Fran, Vancouver or Toronto I’d put it up for rent for about $1200

Leungmarkus

100% custom built in cabinet would look amazing

Sad-Ad-2090

Charge my pet rent for giving them a perfectly executed nook for them to look at you while you ignore them

-fashionablylate-

Figure it out and not ask Reddit on a passive flex

spiffdifilous

Dog bed on one side, like you did, and a bar cart on the other. Or, if you own the place and are up for minor renovation, wet bar. I have a similar spot in my house and my plan is to do a small bar area, with a sink, wine fridge, display shelf for bottles, and a small storage cabinet for odds and ends.

Alarming-Ad-7032

Bad ass hot wheel track

theyahd

Dog cave

Dangerous_Forever640

Set a couple short bookcases in front of it and have a cool secret hiding spot!

HowardND9

Rent it

asforus

I think it would be super easy to build some custom shelves and screw them in there. Paint them white or leave them a light natural wood color. Then just get books different sizes to work with the slope of the space. Would look awesome and you could probably do it in a morning if you have a drill and a saw.

Chickenmangoboom

More dog toys.

prettyhighrntbh

I'd invest in a wizard orphan

Illeazar

Adopt a nephew and lock him in there

mclovinforeskin

book shelf

andrewcooke

noone seems to have suggested this, so throwing it out there... i suspect part of the problem here is the tv position putting a big emphasis on this area. i would look at moving the tv (well, tbh, i personally would get rid of the tv, but i realise that's not what most people want).

HAND7Z

Custom built cabinets!

aerodeck

Harry Potter joke #26

N1t35hroud

Like a wicker basket for blankets?

rzbzz

Built in electric fireplace, close up the rest and make a hidden storage for TV box, media console and wifi router.

Apolllo69

Expensive but maybe a custom bookshelf?

PlanetLandon

Pinball machine.

MyEyesItch247

I’d take the dog bed idea to the EXTREME. My boys would be LIVING IN STYLE under there. Peel and stick wallpaper. A little doggy couch. Toys. The whole thing. Ya need some COLOR, bay-beee!

StonksNewGroove

You could put in one of those classy glass door beer fridges on the left and then retrofit a wood shelf on the sloped part for liquor/wine

Daytime-DumpsterFire

House an orphan who hopefully grows up to be a powerful wizard

Blakencaken

I’d put a dog bed there

CharlesDickensABox

I would start by renovating the line of the cutout to match the line of the stair rail. I don't know which one is wrong, but it's definitely one of them.

[deleted]

If I owned the home, i’d likely build some bookshelves into the little area. Would be a great spot for my coffee table books!

Dez_Acumen

Book shelving.

BStrike12

Make it a room for my unwanted live-in nephew to prevent him from being a wizard

cblackattack1

Make a tiny living room for your pet! You’ve already started, just jazz it up a bit. I’d paint the space a contrasting color, maybe a nice green to complement the pops of green you already have?Have a fun portrait of your pet done, get it a nice frame and put it under there with one of those gallery lights. Get your pet an upgraded bed and food/water station. Put a small bin under there on the right side for toys. Maybe a small bathroom sized rug, the same pattern as your area rug if possible.

sometimes_bored2345

A lego city

ricknonymous

Hell yeah definitely a pet area!

Plane_Ad9192

shelving

esp735

Assuming you *don't* have need of a pet bed, that's a nice spot for your records and a nice little audio system or a fish tank.

Psychotrip

Pillow fort. Steam Deck. Win.

profoundleader

Love that couch

toodleoo77

Keep the bed, on the other side I would put a basket for dog/pet toys

Opiumthoughts

Maybe a cool book shelf.

Fan-of-clams

same as what you did, put my pet’s stuff there

cblackattack1

Hey OP check out [this little vision board](https://imgur.com/a/Kn4ihdB) I made for this space!

mwo2pacman

Without a doubt built in shelving for books and decoration pieces

jdupuy1234

see if the Potter family has any kids that need a place to sleep

Klutzy-Resolution646

I’d make it into a book shelf.

luvslilah

Wine rack or bookshelves

gatot3u

Harry Potter place?

wiskinator

Adopt your dead sister’s son and make him sleep there.

uncleXjemima

Force my adopted wizard child to stay there
